Welcome to thread 2 never thought we would be posting so much that we have to start a new thread.

I am still hovering around 12 and a half stone. I have been absolutely freezing to the point I have a duvet on the sofa.

I have had one NSV so far I can zip up my boots and they do not feel tight anymore.

@HuskyNew Yes, I switched over to the GLP1 plan the day I jabbed.
My calories only went down about 300 and protein goal is 125....I am not hitting either! I seem to get about 90-105 protein and 1000 - 1400 calories and that's at a push.
It'll be worth it though, the scales are moving and I am managing the side effects, so long may it continue!

ShineyGreen · 19/03/2025 22:19

@SmallSoupcon I know just what you mean! I have even gagged a few times whilst brushing my teeth, just like being pregnant. And the taste in my mouth each morning is vile. I wonder though if this is my body producing ketones and this happens when your body is burning fat stores for energy if you're in a calorie deficit (I think). I had hyperemesis when pregnant with all three of my children and lost lots of weight with each one because for most of the 9 months I couldn't even swallow my own saliva without throwing up, let alone any food, and ketones made my breath pong!

hope u all have a lovely day

MamaNewtNewt · 20/03/2025 08:49

Thanks for the new thread @TheSpoonyNavyReader I totally missed that there was a new one and wondered why you were all so quiet 😊 Just catching up on the thread as work has been manic this week. I brought my weigh day forward a day as DH and I are going away for the night and I like to weigh in the morning - I’ve lost 4lbs, which I’m really chuffed with as I seem to be going fairly steady. One thing I do need to be careful with is just making sure I’m eating enough as I want to form long term healthy habits. I actually got told off by MyFitnessPal one day! I’m going to try protein shakes, as I’m finding it difficult to get enough protein as a vegetarian. If anyone has any tips I’d love to hear them.

SW: 18st 7lbs
CW: 17st 9.3lbs
Total Loss: 12.1lbs

Hello all and welcome to all the new posters.

I am hoping all those that are feeling unwell get better soon.

I have had an interesting week, I have managed to eat a packet of crisps and an orange club (which I do not like normally) I need to get organised with meal planning and having snacks that I can grab if I feel hungry and not go back to old habits.

If the scales stay the same tomorrow as they are today I have lost 12IB which is the same as one whole Bald Eagle…..

That’s a key thing I think. It’s about not just relying on appetite suppression because eventually once you’re off MJ that goes. It’s about using the time you’re on it to reset both eating habits and lifestyle habits that will allow you to maintain. That’s why it’s not a cheat. it’s just a useful tool.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I was trying to explain to DH this morning how it’s not a magic bullet, and it just kind of supports you to make the healthy choices. And we still have to make those choices. That doesn’t mean we can’t have the occasional treat though.

As I mentioned I’m off for a night away with DH and we are having afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast there. I’m a little bit worried as I’m not great with moderation so have not had any sugar (apart from a tsp of honey on my Greek yoghurt) for a month and am at the point where I’m not really missing it. I’m worried that if I have some of those teeny delicious cakes it might open the floodgates and they’ll find me in a sugar coma, surrounded by empty wrappers in the chocolate aisle at the supermarket. Also I LOVE a hotel breakfast, it’s my fave thing, so worried I might not be able to restrain myself.

As I’m writing I’m actually wondering whether to jab tonight instead of tomorrow, that way I have a better chance of controlling myself at breakfast. First world problems, I know.

MamaNewtNewt · 20/03/2025 09:01

@TheSpoonyNavyReader Well done - I’ve lost the same! The bald eagle equivalence really made me chuckle 🦅

museumum · 20/03/2025 09:16

Second jab day for me.
I have lost less than a kg in my first week. I have analogue scales and at the start, I was hovering just above 88kg and now I'm just below the same line. I guess I'm not really surprised, I have been freezing cold but have not felt radical appetite changes, no sickness or nausea. And, more importantly, it always takes me a couple of weeks to see any movement on the scale, I have never had a big 'first-week loss' on a diet of any sort.

I'm trying not to be jealous of all you bigger losers... If I can lose a kg each fortnight I will be very happy and it will feel sustainable. This week I'm going to try walking more, I'm worried the freezing cold feeling means my metabolism is low so I'm going to try being more active in between my actual exercise sessions. I WFH so when it's busy it's VERY easy for me to not leave my desk.

I've lost a bald Eagle too - love comparing it all to objects. Makes it quite funny.

I have just had my 3rd jab this morning. No side effects yet - so I've ordered my 5 pen today. I think I'll stick to that until it doesn't work, rather than ramp up too quickly.

akaFrosty · 20/03/2025 09:41

Good morning. I took my first 2.5 dose yesterday and feel great, but this morning I have terrible neck pain. No lumps, but my neck is so sore to touch at the back and sides. I struggled to wash there this morning as it's so sore.
Has anyone else experienced this?

capybaraqueen · 20/03/2025 09:56

Hello everyone. I've done 4 jabs. Still zero side effects and excellent suppression. Really having to force food down! Training well and feeling amazing and super strong.

I'm planning to take the Golden dose on Monday (I've added a day on each week as suppression was so good)

I have needles from Amazon and whilst they're still...needles, it looks so much higher than the ones on the pen. I'm a bit scared 🤪 who else has done this?

Yes! I did and so did some others… really weird but disappeared the following day

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 20/03/2025 10:13

I've had a .mid week weigh in. I'm 4.3lbs down 😱 that's about 3 guinea pigs.

Thank you, that's very reassuring 💐

Oops! A bit late to the party with the new thread.

Well done on all your losses so far, ladies 👏

Tantastic12 · 20/03/2025 10:32

I took my first jab on Tuesday morning and that night/yesterday morning I had the worst neck and shoulder pain! Was so strange but thankfully gone now. Had some random chills and lots of burps but all manageable so hoping nothing worse comes my way.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 20/03/2025 10:35

@TheSpoonyNavyReader keep your bald eagle away from mu guinea pigs!!

Tormundsbeard · 20/03/2025 10:57

First jab last night!
SW 201lbs
GW 160lbs
height 5ft 9 , 59 yrs

i was 140lbs without really having to try until my mid 40s , even after 2 kids.

Hysterectomy, depression, menopause, sedentary lifestyle all suddenly combined to change my body, all without really changing my diet or exercise level.
Size 18 clothes are getting too tight, I need to sort this.

LordGaGaisasahd · 20/03/2025 11:33

Wk 2 Jab 2 today

SW 11st 10lbs
CW 11st 1.9lbs

Nausea has subsided. Will see if it comes back again after the 2nd jab today.

Keep having to remind myself to eat!

So far, so great 👍🏻

Justformounjaro · 20/03/2025 13:24

I’m seeing some of your losses, and feel envious but, at the same time, I’m not having massive suppression or side effects - only no real desire for snacks. I have barely altered the main meals I would normally eat and still lost nearly 7lbs since the 1st of March (and 5lbs prior to that without MJ). Given that snacking is my downfall, and even then, my weight gain is often linked to major blowout events like Christmas and holidays (I gain in tiers rather than as a gradual creep), I’m trying to decide if I should try to chase suppression to lose weight more quickly or just stay on 2.5mg and accept a slower but probably more sustainable loss of 1-2lbs a week.

Since DP has semi retired, he’s around more often and likes to stop for coffee 2-3 times a day, and coffee after dinner and I like having something sweet to go with that coffee. That would mean one or two biscuits every time and several squares of chocolate after dinner. It probably adds up to 300-400 calories a day or more. I never used to think about having so many snacks before I met DP, and wouldn’t even have a packet of biscuits open in the house, but hopefully being on MJ for a few months, even on a low dose, will get me out of the habit.

I definitely want to do a golden dose. Just trying to work out where I can get all of the supplies from a pharmacy in one delivery rather than 2-3. I’m also a bit freaked out by injecting with the bigger needle I saw on a YouTube video if an extra twist doesn’t work 😬 If someone knows how you can use the dainty needles that you normally get on the pen with another type of syringe, please let me know 🙏

IngoGreen · 20/03/2025 13:33

Hi, first dose this evening. In case of GI stuff, what’s your best small snack you’d recommend?

SmallSoupcon · 20/03/2025 13:59

I’ve been reading about calorie cycling and set points while on Mounjaro. Apparently, alternating higher and lower-calorie days might stop your metabolism from slowing down and could help shift your body’s set point over time. It also seems to help preserve muscle and avoid ‘Ozempic face' by giving your body periods of higher calories to support muscle repair. Anyone else tried calorie cycling? I'm a bit hungrier today, so going to give it a whirl.

mounjstarter · 20/03/2025 14:15

@Van34
it’s interesting that you say how much better you feel. I’ve only had one jab so far, next one due tomorrow, but already I’ve noticed my digestion and IBS have improved. I’m sleeping better than I have in a long time too. I’ve hardly eaten any white carbs or sugar this week, and am down 4lbs already. I’m definitely ready for my next dose though. For the first time this week my stomach has been growling and I keep thinking about what I can eat next.
Good luck to everyone just starting out. It’s amazing to read what a positive effect it has for so many people.

MrsMariaReynolds · 20/03/2025 15:45

@capybaraqueenI'll be trying my golden dose next week. I have the syringes ready to go but yes, like you, I'm a bit squismish about it. A friend of mine is a month ahead of me in her mj treatment and she said taking the golden dose is really easy and you still can't feel the needle (She gave me a few from her stash to get me started, so I hope she's right)

Beinthepresent · 20/03/2025 16:08

Hi, I've just taken my first jab!
Week 1 jab 1
SW - 16 stone 2
TW - not decided yet.
I'm going to do my measurements in the morning.
Can't wait to see some changes.
