Welcome to thread 2 never thought we would be posting so much that we have to start a new thread.

I am still hovering around 12 and a half stone. I have been absolutely freezing to the point I have a duvet on the sofa.

I have had one NSV so far I can zip up my boots and they do not feel tight anymore.

This stuff is amazing. I feel so .. calm! Totally chilled about food after years of frenzy and stuffing snacks. One of the most peaceful weeks for my brain in memory. @PlexGirl34 & @SharpOpalNewt how you doing?

Edited

Peaceful, yes, exactly. I feel so calm. I didn't really understand the concept of 'food noise' until it went away - for me it's like a constant underlying awareness of food and the need to eat. Even when I'm not consciously thinking about food, even when I'm actually full, my brain has this constant vigilance about what there is or will be to eat.

Then 2.5mg of mounjaro and it went away. I could honestly weep.

I'm going to guess that the food noise is an adaptation to having severely restricted food in the past, especially as a kid. I think it probably triggered an evolutionary fear of survival. And then restricting and binging has probably damaged me physiologically and hormonally too.

All I can do is pray that MJ keeps working for me and all of us, because it is genuinely life changing.

Morning ladies. 2nd jab done - went for stomach and so far looks like i've managed to avoid a bruise this time. Lost 1lb last week - i'm away at the end of July so even if i lose a pound a week that's not a bad drop by then. Marathon not a sprint mentality is what i keep reminding myself.
Hope everyone is having a good week so far

Yellowsubmarine55 · 25/03/2025 09:48

First dose done so I can officially join you 👋

Age 47

Sw - 213 lb / 15st 3
Gw - no idea and will be happy to lose 4 st so I'm keeping an open mind.

Happy Tuesday everyone 🙂

Remember that you're already a lower weight and sometimes it's more difficult to shift large amounts when you don't have loads to lose.

Also, last week I stayed the same for 5 days and then on day 6 I'd lost 1lb and then day 7 another 1lb. Our bodies panic when they see us losing weight and hold on to fat cells until we push through.

You'll get there, 1-2lb weight loss is maintainable.

When I tell myself this, I argue with myself and then get really disheartened, but when others write it on this thread, it makes total sense! 😆
Actually 5lb down in two weeks is good and I'm happy with that. Hopefully after my jab tonight, i get suppression and fullness again and it will spur me on to push through.
Im hoping to have lost around 10lb total by 11th April as a mini target and then keep going from there. I'm only 5 foot tall so my current weight does make me look very chubby currently!

Well done on your weight loss!

Van34 · 25/03/2025 09:53

Oh these burps!! I should like I've drunk litres of fizzy pop! Thankfully they aren't sulphur burps but I'm in the office tomorrow and I have no idea how I am going to stifle them all day.

EchoNova · 25/03/2025 10:40

Hello - room for one more 😁

Just took my 3rd jab this morning. Lost 5lbs first week and will weigh myself Thursday to see week 2 results - I'm severly consitpated at the moment so want to get rid of that before I weigh as it will only make me depressed if I haven't lost anything ( I did have a cheeky weigh on saturday and was down 2lbs but sunday I had put that 2lbs back on).

I'm also perimenopausal so have myself resigned to losing weight slowly (I'd be happy with 1 or 2lbs per week. I had to take myself off Tik tok cause seeing people lose 2stone in 4 weeks was making me sad.

I've read that some people weigh each day and takes the average over 7 days maybe I should start doing this to see how my weigh fluctuates? What do you all do?

SW: 85.7 kg
CW: 83.4 kg
GW: 64 kg

needtolose70lb · 25/03/2025 11:08

So good to see so many March starters! Sounds like there a lot of us with additional issues like perimenopause, other medications, polycystic ovaries, other conditions etc so it is quite reassuring seeing a wide range of actual weight loss journeys rather than just a load of super fast losers - or even just super slow losers. This is definitely an individual journey and that's something I keep reminding myself of.

I have just taken delivery of pen 2 and decided to stick with the prescribed plan so it is a 5mg pen. I have read lots of conflicting reviews of 5mg and was really debating whether I should stick to 2.5mg but decided that I could always take a half dose if it feels too strong but couldn't take a double dose of 2.5 if the effects wore off. Not sure if that's the right approach but will let you know!

@taylorswift1989 I know exactly what you mean about feeling weepy about that hypervigilance going away. I can't believe it, honestly. There is also a bit of me that gets SO angry that I beat myself up for decades about my inability to maintain any kind of diet.

Now I know that I can happily make good choices and drink lots of water and get outside for a walk if i don't have that noise in my head. I genuinely forget about the wine. I go to the supermarket and don't play that game in my head about how long I can resist hitting the chocolate aisle before the inevitable grab of several large bags of the stuff. I can put food on my plate at dinner and just eat what's in front of me without feeling stressed out as to whether there's enough for seconds. I don't feel uncomfortably full but I've lost the need to stuff myself UNTIL i feel uncomfortably full.

It's strange, incredible and a bit overwhelming at times.

Welcome! I weigh every day because that works for me to see the fluctuations and reassure myself that one day maintaining or going up isn't actually reflective of my week. I was advised to take the lowest reading of the week as your most accurate but I haven't quite managed to get to that mindset yet!

However, I am halfway through week 4 and can see that each week i have at least one gain and at least two maintains and still lose each week. Averaging 2-3lb a week after the first week which I know will slow down and that's ok.

Hope that helps?

needtolose70lb · 25/03/2025 11:13

@EchoNova
Oh and also you might want to convert your kg to lbs in your target stuff because then you can see those smaller losses more clearly. Psychologically helps me a lot. 1kg does not sound anywhere near as good as 2.2lb even though i know they are the same 😂

This is really good - thanks so much for your reply.

I'll start weighing daily for a few weeks and see how I go. I was a bit of a slave to the scales in the past so really need to get past that mindset and understand that fluctuation is normal.

Never weigh after a holiday 🤣 I always leave it a week and weigh on the next weigh day!😉 Life is for enjoying including treats on holiday!

Not too bad in the end, lost a pound this week which when I was only on plan 100% for 3 of the 7 days isn’t so bad. Hope I can lose 2 pounds this week to make it a stone in 4 weeks I’d be very happy then!

10lbs down since 1st March @BabyHandsRobin - really pleased, and that's just over 3 weeks on on 2.5mg.

CW: 12 st 8lbs- BMI 27.6!
GW: 11 stone - BMI 24. Then I will see how I feel/look. May go to ten and a half, BMI 22/23 but no less. I'm 5'7" and nearly 50 and quite muscly so it seems about right. I would comfortably be a size 10 at 11 stone, or maybe even less. Definitely more of a size 12 than a 14 already. I bought a pair of size 12 cords which were cutting me in two in October but kept them, and now they are plenty big enough.

The lowest I've been in recent years is 12 stone, when I did Very Fast 800 in 2021, so it would be a real barrier to break through to get into the 11s. The weight loss has been quicker so far on Mounjaro and I'm eating three meals a day and 1400 calories and including potatoes, pasta, bread and rice, not 800-1000 a day and no carbs! It feels like it would be more sustainable/easier to move into maintenance. Also I'm not coming out of lockdown and into real life this time so no need to go mad!

Hello all,
I would like to join. I plan on taking my first jab this friday evening before bed ?
Ive read that doing it before bedtime so that you can sleep off the worst of the symptoms is the way forward ?

I dont have a huge amount to lose. I would like to lose 2 stone ideally.
Has anyone had any expereince of starting it at a slightly lower starting weight ?

I am perimoenpausal and I recently lost 3 stone through a calorie defecit but the final 2 stone wont budge and I have fallen back into a cycle of binge eating.
I am hoping the mounjaro will help with the food noise as I have read on here .

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 25/03/2025 13:01

@EchoNova I don't weigh every day but do weigh more than once. But I take the result from my specified weigh in day.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 25/03/2025 13:04

Wk 2 day 3. I'm feeling pretty good today. I feel mire like I'm eating "properly" and not seriously under eating. I'm counting calories nut not aiming for a specific amount. Really trying to switch my mindset with this, and avoid the "oh I've got 200 left I'll have a kitkat" way of thinking.

The food noise - for ne, I was sceptical, as I don't need to be hungry to eat, but I am eating very healthy satisfying meals and just nor even thinking about food. Previously, my whole day was punctuated with food and thinking about what I could eat next. 🤯

Elfie23 · 25/03/2025 13:16

Hi all - taken my first injection around 90mins ago and freaking out slightly!

I injected into my thigh and have red skin around the site which isn’t bothering me too much.
What I have noticed is the very tip of my tongue, feels tingly? It’s not swollen and doesn’t hurt just feels weird? Has anyone else had this?
Thinking maybe I should take an antihistamine to see if that helps?

I also had my Depo injection this morning so wondering if my body is just a bit like woah or something 😆 I always get a strange taste in my mouth after the Depo but it only lasts about 10/15mins x

museumum · 25/03/2025 13:26

Week 2 day 6 and I’m pretty hungry again. I suppose I can use willpower for two days a week if the other five feel easy. I hope.
Previously I was hungry all the time.

Looks like Tuesdays and Wednesdays I will need to plan ahead and only eat what’s in the plan. I’m glad it’s two weekdays I feel this way.

SmallSoupcon · 25/03/2025 13:46

Week 3 day 1 today. I weighed myself this morning and only lost 1lb compared to 6 the previous week. But I suspect that's related to diarrhea from last weekend. Also, I read that early big losses are related to water weight.

I'm feeling positive though - a loss is a loss - and I know it's never a smooth downwards curve. I don't want to lose too much too quickly and have a gaunt face. I'm also tracking and sticking to calories and resistance exercises (who am I?), so it's all going in the right direction. Well done everyone, keep it up!

(A small win this morning - I was in a social situation where I was required to eat homemade cake. It was a very special cake and was built up to be a big deal - very awkward to decline. But I had two mouthfuls and didn't force myself to eat more. I consider that a success!)

SW 14st 3lb
CW 13st 10lb

GameOfJones · 25/03/2025 14:16

A strange day today as I thought the suppression had worn off as I've been thinking about food a lot and felt hungry (halfway through week 3). But I've had cheese on toast and some fruit as the first thing I've eaten all day and couldn't finish it. I feel really uncomfritably full and it's 2 hours later so it's obviously still working.

Regarding weighing. I weigh and record once a week on a Friday but do tend to hop on the scales at one more point in the week to see how things are going. I want to stop that habit though as every single time I've done it, it has bothered me. E.g. today I've had a sneaky look and I'm just under 1lb down on Friday which has left me feeling a bit deflated as I was hoping for more. Even though it is still a few days until I officially weigh in so I shouldn't feel disappointed at all.

I've also had it the other way round where I've weighed earlier in the week and have been delighted and then have "gained" a bit back by the Friday. It's hard to know what the best approach is but since the fluctuations do tend to bother me I'm trying to stick to once a week on the scales.

Any tips fir first jab and week? How many cals we all.aiming etc

Flaitch · 25/03/2025 14:37

Afternoon ladies

Good to see everyone doing well! Sorry to those with side effects, I’ve been really lucky and not really been bothered. I did realise last week though that I’m not burping or farting 🤣 as much as I did before?
I was never a once a day person but last week did feel slightly constipated but all came good in the end🤣 Is prune juice the best to move things along? I looked in my local supermarket last week but couldn’t see any.

Had a big day out on Sunday and ended up being sick 🤢 but think that was too many cocktails being offered- lesson learnt!
I will need to order my next pen but seriously still unsure to stick with 2.5mg or up to 5mg. I have until Friday to decide as that’s when I get paid.

SW. 13.4 (or 3 as bought new scales that read different)
CW 12.7.2
GW 9.7 - 10.7 will see how I feel.
total loss 10lb . Happy with that, but have to keep reminding myself it’s a marathon not a sprint.
NSV put a jacket on on Sunday that previously wouldn’t do up but does now!

Hello!
My starting weight was 10 stone 10lb and initially want to get down to 9 stone 2lb....maybe a bit lower than this. What's your starting weight/goal weight?

I'm doing 3rd jab this evening before bed. My experience so far is that the MJ massively decreases food noise, appetite and makes me feel full for the first 4 day, then it starts to drop a little and by the 6th day I feel "normal" as in food noise is back and so is appetite and hunger.

That's amazing that you lost 3 stone on calorie deficit - well done!!!

Oldbutnew · 25/03/2025 14:51

@Amjam2025
Im starting at 11 stone after dropping down from 14 stone. Id love to be 10 stone and 9 stone as an absolute ideal.
How much have you lost so far ?
Were there any issues with you being a lower starting weight ?
