Didn't want to lose you all, so have started a new thread.

Roll up, roll up!

Had a NSV today - went to the docs about something unrelated and the nurse looked at me while analysing my symptoms and declared 'well, you're not overweight.'

It completely flummoxed me.

My BMI is 27, so according to their rules I am. But muscle and boobs play a role. I just couldn't believe someone would look at me and make that assumption. It goes against everything in my head (and not what they have said in the past)

Well done @Thelittlestranger .

I was tempted by a Waitrose no 1 stem ginger and apricot hot cross bun for breakfast this morning after not eating much last night. I can confirm that it was worth the 197 calories 😍. Divine.

I injected 3.75mg yesterday, struggled to eat dinner last night. No side effects other than ongoing constipation which has always been an issue for me as an adult.

Still slightly ahead of losertown which is my measure.

Hi!

Well done @BlueLimes, @KrankySchwester and @DGonMJ fab weight losses and especially with a weekend away dg👏.

sorry for all of you with tummy issues. I’ve not experienced the constipation but as you know, I have the other!! Mine seem to be resolved now, I’ve followed Oushkks advice, higher protein and really limiting my carbs. Hope you are all sorted soon. @cloudjumper fingers crossed you can get everything moving ready for your op.

@Thelittlestranger , glad you spoke to your daughter and it went well. Like pp have said I was always brought up to clear my plate and my mum was always ( and still is!) dieting. Think I went to my first ww meeting in my early teens and look what that’s done!

@MananaMananaPenelope that does sound amazing’ may have to get some
of those my son loves stem ginger!

to all the swimmers, I was supposed to be doing a trial open water swim at the weekend but had to miss it because of my stomach! Im
waiting to make sure it’s def ok this week and rejoining our outdoor pool to swim 3 times a week from next week. Swimming is def my thing, I’m not fast but I love it!

have a great day

Morning my petals. Some fab losses I see, well done.

could I have thoughts. Due to take my third dose of a 5mg pen this week. I do take the bonus dose so usually reorder after this dose and am wondering what to go for. I seem to be doing quite well on 5mg. Definitely still feeling all the good stuff, sometimes a bit too strongly actually. Have lost pretty well. Some side effects but not loads/very manageable.

do I stay here for another pen and hope it continues. Do I give it another week before I reorder and see how I get on (but also need to factor in Easter bank holidays don’t I in case that delays things) or do I move up and maybe count clicks. Very slight issue with moving up is cost in that the 7.5 pens do seem to be a bit more so why get one if I don’t need it yet.

i think I want to stay on 5 as it seems to be working well so at the moment my inclination is to wait one more week and if I am still feeling the same, reorder.

Jins · 08/04/2025 08:04

It’s interesting to see that limiting carbs is helping. I started out with the intention of using MJ to reduce carbs within my dietary restrictions and I wonder if that’s why I’ve not (yet) had any of the gastric side effects.

Yesterday evening became tricky and I didn’t eat particularly well. DHs family thrive on bad news and there was some to thrive on. We’re pragmatic rather than emotional during crises and it’s not a good fit. I resorted to some Mothers Day chocolate and boy did it taste good.

That’s a fantastic NSV @Thelittlestranger. I’m not sure what’s up with GP surgeries at the moment as I was declared not particularly overweight at my highest ever weight with visible rolls of fat and arms like hams.

Great news on losses too. We’re three months in and we’re all still here and losing! Pats on the back all round

Thelittlestranger · 08/04/2025 08:19

@myladyjane if you go with a 5mg pen, you could always up the dosage slightly if you need to every week using the bonus dose? That's my plan this month...

OP posts:
Zempy · 08/04/2025 08:38

It’s tricky isn’t it.

I am not enjoying 7.5 at all, and wish I had stayed at 5 a bit longer. I might count clicks and inject 6mg this Friday to see if that helps.

I just feel nauseous and lethargic all the time. I have had a virus too, and it is hard to separate one from the other. I’m just wading through each day at the moment and it’s not enjoyable.

HeavyHeidi · 08/04/2025 08:48

I went for a little extra, should be on 3 now based on clicks, but not sure that agrees with me. Stomach was not really hurting, but uncomforable, and I was really tired this morning. But managed the morning fitness class.

But this morning, I could comfortably fit into a pair of trousers I bought 17 years ago during my previous 'slim' period. Can't believe it.

Lovetoridemybicycle · 08/04/2025 08:58

Shock realisation how stretched my jeans were- they are starting to look a little baggy on the thighs. Measured and that's 8cm off my thighs, they must have looked really bad as there's not 8cm of material flapping around!
Also one thigh is bigger than the other by 3cm! I assumed they would be the same!

Zempy · 08/04/2025 09:05

@Lovetoridemybicycle I have had the same shocking realisation about how I was squishing my body into clothes that were far too small.

To be fair, that’s partly why I made the MJ decision. I didn’t want to admit defeat and have to buy loads of bigger clothes.

I have a big bin liner full so far, and there will be plenty more in time. However, for the most part, I am wearing the same clothes as 2.5 stone ago, but I can breathe!!

Lovetoridemybicycle · 08/04/2025 09:08

@Zempy that's it exactly. 1.5 stone down. It will be another stone before I can size down, desperately trying not to buy anything at the moment and spend the money on the drug, while the clothes on the wardrobe already start to fit properly again.

tinyemmy · 08/04/2025 09:22

cloudjumper · 07/04/2025 21:19

I think I went on my first diet when I was 8 or 9, which was initiated by my pediatrician!! Imagine that happening now! I was always a bit overweight as child, but nowhere near obese, and really active, doing lots of sports/activities. How times change!

I've also decided to stay on 7.5 mg and have ordered my next pen. Suppression is still strong, and I'm struggling with eating enough, which is what's been making me so tired. I've not been tracking as religiously last week because we had the German exchange student visiting, and I didn't want to look like a weirdo weighing out all my food 😂As a result, I've definitely under-eaten by quite a bit, and feeling really flat! Back to tracking now.

My digestion is still doing weird things... I'm taking senna tablets every now and then to help things along, which normally don't cause any issues. But yesterday I ended up with a really upset stomach - lots of cramping and gurgling, and then finally a big blowout (sorry tmi). Today, all is fine again.
This worries me a bit because I will need to keep things moving after the surgery next week, I won't be able to push/strain. Might have to resort to lactulose, but that stuff always causes me explosive bowel movements!

If anyone has recommendations on how to avoid constipation, I'm all ears! Fibogel and the likes don't work for me, they make things worse. Wondering if I should ask for Movicol, I took that when I was pregnant, and it really helped. Not sure if you can get it over the counter...

I'm really struggling to eat too and I'm only on 5mg. I'm weighing in with slimming world and in probably a stone's time I will want to maintain. I know I can't do that on 5mg and not sure what to do (I'm with SheMed so I doubt they will let me go down to 2.5 or have every other week or whatever as I think they follow the rules quite closely)

Jins · 08/04/2025 09:23

All my swimwear from last year still fits so I must have looked a right state. To be fair that’s what I thought at the time.

DGonMJ · 08/04/2025 09:24

Morning losers

@MananaMananaPenelope sounds delicious! I do love a hot cross bun but haven’t had one yet. Think I’ll have one on the Easter weekend.
Good luck with the increased dose.

@myladyjane I agree with others who recommend sticking with the 5mg but using the bonus dose to increase slightly if you’re doing well on it and still feeling like suppression is too strong at times. I stuck with 2.5mg for my second pen but after my first dose of 2.5mg on it I decided to split the bonus dose over the next three jabs and went up 20 clicks to 3.33mg. I even had more left for that third jab and went up to 3.75mg.

I’ve just finished my first 5mg pen (1x4.17mg, 4x5mg) and despite feeling hunger at times and upping my calories I’ve still lost a steady amount this month. I’m grateful to have not had any bad side effects, even after eating pizza and quite fatty bbq ribs over the weekend!

Got on the Renpho scales this morning and am down to 33.2% body fat (was 36% in Jan). Visceral fat, subcutaneous fat and metabolic age have all come down since I last measured which is great. I’m still measuring older than my actual age - but only by 3 months rather than 4 years.

I’m not sure I could actually get down to 25% BF. I suppose if I got down to 60kg I might get close, but I’m happy with how I look at the moment. I think my aim is to get under 32% into the ‘acceptable’ range.

Juniper scales weigh me at 65.6kg today so I could hit top of weight target in a couple of weeks (depending on how I do over my week off). I’ve already started upping calories on certain days - getting up to 1500. Don’t think I’ve hit a maintenance amount of 1800 yet.

meatyryvita · 08/04/2025 09:44

I had a bit of a realisation at the weekend. I've been squeezing myself into size 16 jeans and trousers (tight on the legs and only just doing up) for ages, including 2 stone ago (was 15:10 and now 13:11). The jeans I have been wearing most are a pair from M&S that I thought were skinny jeans. I wandered around M&S on Saturday and saw that they were slim, not skinny and so I don't think that I've been a 16 for quite some time, more of an 18.

In better news, those size 16 slim jeans are now quite baggy on my legs, so I'm making progress. I have also got the kids to put lots of my old dresses and jeans on Vinted (they're both bored during the school holidays and want to earn some money) and they're making a fortune, so no turning back for me!

MJalltheway · 08/04/2025 09:59

Good to hear everyone's progress updates! I think I'm finally edging out of the size 18s and into 16s. I'm not back in work for another 2 weeks and I have a pair of non-stretchy work trousers that I've just bought in a 16 which fit but not comfortably yet. Hoping in 2 weeks they will be a comfortable fit.
2 more doses of 7.5 left, I need to start thinking about swapping provider to save some money.

HeavyHeidi · 08/04/2025 10:00

Same, fellow losers, same. Refusing to admit I needed a size up, stretching all my clothes that would stretch. Some nice skirts that would otherwise still fit don't look so good, as my previous big belly has stretched all their waistbands.
Denial is strong. No no, of course I haven't gained another size, it's just a slight bloat, I can still fit in those jeans, even if I can't breathe and I have rolls all over..

HeavyHeidi · 08/04/2025 10:27

Flying to see my parents tomorrow. Last saw mum early February when I had just started with MJ and I have not mentioned the weight loss at all. Should be a bit of a surprise for her.

cloudjumper · 08/04/2025 10:41

I hear 'ya all regarding jeans and changing sizes. I can now pull down my Next stretchy jeans size 16s without undoing the button or zip, and I'm constantly hoisting them up because I don't own any belts! But the size 14s are still just a bit too 'pinchy' when sitting down (which I do for the majority of my time). I choose comfort over style these days, life's too short 😂

cloudjumper · 08/04/2025 10:42

Also, do we have a new thread yet?! We're going to need one soon...

Same 🤣

MJalltheway · 08/04/2025 15:41

Something else I realised which I meant to ask about on here - normally I suffer terribly with hayfever and start taking daily antihistamines from around February until October. This year I haven't taken any at all and haven't had any symptoms. I know MJ can affect inflammation, so I assume it's the MJ. Anyone else found anything like this?

Jins · 08/04/2025 15:55

Not me. I’m still loaded with antihistamines and do feel the pollen itch in the mornings. However if I had a choice between my IBS being ‘cured’ or my hay fever I’d definitely choose the IBS so that’s worked out well for me.

I wish! Still hayfever central here

asparagusfearne · 08/04/2025 17:39

I've had one sneezy evening from spending all of Saturday in the garden, and have taken one or two antihistamines in the last few weeks, but no big onslaught as of yet.
Interesting observation but I'll give it another month at least before I make any conclusions. That would be a huge bonus though!
