Catching up on all the posts!!

I've been away this weekend - have eaten out, just eaten less. I've found that i can eat most things, and don't feel like I'm stopping myself from eating anything. So I don't feel like I'm dieting - I'm just eating less. I tend to eat a fairly healthy diet anyway, it was just then supplemented by unhealthy snacks!!

Also bought a couple of summer jackets - would not have fitted them before, and feels incredible to put something fitted on and not hate how it made me look.

WI and jab 3 of pen 3 today (5mg), but I'm not going to weigh. I'm on, and I don't think it will help me to look, so going to stay off them until mid week at least. Have applied to Oushk for the next pen and sticking with 5mg.

Morning all. Sorry I’ve been so quiet - I had a busy work week with travel and have lots of activity to catch up on.

I lost 0.4lb this week, taking my total loss to 15.1. I am tempted to go up to 5mg but still having horrid gastric side effects. Maybe being a tortoise suits me. I’ve noticed that suppression is high for everything apart from wine and that is starting to creep up. I had wine on three nights this week - two social and one at home. 3 glasses each time, rather than my planned two. I just find it so more-ish and it disappears so quickly! It affects my appetite, digestion and really impacts my sleep.

Exercise is still a challenge for me. Some weeks good, most not.

So, this week I’m setting myself three goals:
1 to stick to planned drinks.
2 to exercise for 15 mins each day
3 average 7000 steps over the week.

If no one minds, will post for my own accountability. 💪🏽💪🏽

HeavyHeidi · 23/03/2025 08:25

@GrumpyMuleFan of course nobody minds, that's what this thread is for!

@Thelittlestranger that's exactly how I feel. I eat, I enjoy meals - just don't feel I need to scoff the entire thing and go for seconds, and dessert, and snacks on top, plus wine, and more raiding the pantry.

Had a lovely afternoon/evening out with DH yesterday and found a lovely Brazilian bbq place in the street food part of where we were for dinner. Had some chicken skewers, rice and salad. also felt hungry later thanks to the ciders I had imbibed but rather than go to a fast food place for a burger we managed to find a supermarket that was still open and I got some sushi instead. Probably still not the best but better than the grease I would have usually had! Poor DH is suffering with his stomach today but part of me think that is possibly due to the fact he had deep fried stuff from the bbq place and then decided to have a deep filled sandwich later as well as the beers and he just can’t tolerate it any more. Am going to a mid week weigh in tomorrow to find out how much damage limitation I need to do

BreezyPeer · 23/03/2025 08:35

Just weighed (I'm not a daily weigher but more often than weekly) and I'm down a stone boundary! So pleased. I genuinely haven't been this light for at least 5 years and probably a lot longer. Not sure if this will remain to weigh day on Thursday but still pleased I've seen it 😀
Weirdly, yesterday I had a really odd day food wise with finishing off half a massive cookie my teen left in the kitchen and eating two pain au chocolate that my parents left when they visited last week. Thats the first real 'eat whatever is in the kitchen ' day I have had since starting. Apart from this treats have been well considered and have consisted of home made cake which I both didn't want to refuse and also really wanted to try!
It's interesting to hear other people's experience of eating out and eating 'treats'. I have been out to eat a few times and have just chosen whatever I fancy but have eaten less of it and I haven't been interested in dessert.
Thank you all for your support. 😍 its really helping me through xx

I am really trying to downsize and buy fewer but better quality items. Makes more sense to have a few but really nice outfits than a 100 so-so ones, right? It's not easy though, I love shopping.
Have to find a place here that accepts bra donations, have a big bag of them that are 2 sizes too big.

Check out www.smallsforall.org

I've sent a bundle in by post in the past

yomellamoHelly · 23/03/2025 08:55

Just done my 10th dose. Lost just shy of 1 stone altogether, which is much slower than every one else I think. But this week I finally feel like my clothes aren't too tight, which feels great. Just reckon this'll be a long journey as I have 4 stone to lose to get to the middle of healthy.

Jins · 23/03/2025 08:55

@asparagusfearne that’s sorted my morning plans!

I’ve got a big bag of things in all sizes under the sun that I can send to them. Multipacks of pants with one taken from it, the colours I didn’t want from multipack bras etc. I ought to go through it anyway but now there’s a destination the job will be more satisfying.

Haven’t weighed yet this morning and I feel bloated and ‘fat’ compared to last week. I suspect I’ve overdone the fibre again.

MissPobjoysPonies · 23/03/2025 09:06

I got cocky, only side effect on 5 has been a slight allergic reaction at injection site.

And then I ate out yesterday, Pizza Express (had some dough balls and 1/3 of a pizza) the dough balls had cheese on.
ive been up all night, terrible acid indigestion, lower stomach pain and have been sick. Im so cross with myself, why did I get so cocky, 4th pen (2nd 5mg) and for the first time I feel
properly awful and wouldn’t trust a 💨

Beanie567 · 23/03/2025 09:17

Weigh day and jab day for me! I’ve decided to go down from 2.5mg to 2.0mg this week - I’ve been at 2.5mg for the last two weeks and lost 4lb each week which is actually quite amazing but I’ve also felt incredibly tired and absolutely not hungry at all. And when I have eaten I’ve felt full very quickly. So a drop down to 45 clicks feels right, and maybe staying around there for a couple of weeks before going for the 2.5mg again.

SW 15.1
CW 13.5
GW 12.1 (top end of healthy bmi - starting to believe I might actually get there!)

One nsv I noticed is that when I went on long walks before my hands always swelled up - I always took my rings off and they would be painfully swollen. Yesterday I went for a 10 mile walk with dh and I found my hands didn’t swell! Not at all! I have no idea why that might have happened - is circulation affected by weight? But I’m so happy about it!

cloudjumper · 23/03/2025 09:31

@Beanie567 I think that circulation is definitely affected by weight - your heart needs to work so much harder if you’re carrying extra weight. I have noticed something similar - my rings are loser, and my ankles are much less (if at all) swollen after a day’s work string at the computer for the whole time.
I had bad carpal tunnel syndrome when I started mj, which has now subsided to just some pins and needles in the morning, which is a big NSV for me.

Beanie567 · 23/03/2025 09:45

@cloudjumper that’s really interesting to know - the big killer in my family on both sides is heart disease so if I’m helping my heart by losing weight that’s great! It sounds silly but I hadn’t really connected the heart with circulation as such, it sounds so obvious now. I started mj not really thinking it would work for me tbh, it’s exciting to have actual, tangible evidence that it’s improved my health. And I’m only half way to target! Wow!

Jins · 23/03/2025 09:58

Woohoo! I’m out of the obese category in body fat terms! Thanks to Renpho scales for this extra little boost.

I’ve been using the MYweight app to track since the beginning but only today looked at the graph in the all time mode. The green line is what I’d have to do to reach my goal in the timescale initially set. The blue line is my actual losses and the orange dotted line is the trajectory I’m on. It’s blown me away by how linear the loss is when seen at this scale. All the blips have vanished.

Zempy · 23/03/2025 10:18

Well done everyone on the great results. Whether fast or slow, we’re all getting there!

I tried on a few of my spring/summer clothes yesterday, only one box full (I have way too much) and the result surprised me.

I could fit nicely into size 12 shorts and trousers. This amazed me and I don’t know why. I know I have lost two stone so it should be obvious! What upset me is that I still looked shit. So bloody WIDE! Again, this shouldn’t surprise me as I am still a stone away from top end of healthy BMI.

I guess it just dawned on me what I had done to my poor arthritic, hypermobile joints. How dreadful I must have looked when I was walking around thinking I was “just a bit tubby/a little overweight”

Sorry, this is probably a bit deep for a Sunday morning! I will go away and lighten up!!!

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/03/2025 10:29

Morning all, well done losers. Jins, there really doesn't look to be any blips on that graph do they. I think it is different when you're living and breathing it on the way down on a daily basis, but that progress looks rock steady.

Zempy, you can't be wide at a size 12. 🌻What size were you when two stone heavier?

I went out last night, a really late night. I chose to drive rather than train which was a good thing as the trains on the way home were stopped due to the amount of water on the tracks. Anyway, I drank water all night and ate fish with mediterranian roasted vegetables. Weight STS this morning which feels good.

Bonus dose for me tomorrow, I'm sticking at 2.5mg.

Aimingdown · 23/03/2025 10:43

Almost at 10kg off which will happen to coincide with a stone milestone too (I’ll take the milestones where I can). Tried on some summer clothes that appeared to have shrunk last year and guess what! That weight really crept on didn’t it? The really scary thing is that I feel great now but I’m still over 2 stone heavier than I was before I started having kids and slowly putting on weight.

Zempy · 23/03/2025 10:44

@MananaMananaPenelope thanks for the support. I was size 16, squeezing myself into size 14 clothes. I am still overall a 14, just a couple of more generous 12s fit.

I think it’s all in my head. My DS lost a huge amount of weight and I remember him asking me in all seriousness “mum, am I fat?” when he was ten stone and five feet ten.

Maybe I need to stop obsessing about it and stop looking in the mirror. It’s all I think about, and it’s not good for me. I’m going to do some serious housework to take my mind off things.

Aimingdown · 23/03/2025 10:51

@zempy that sounds like me. I was always a 12 (although I’m pretty sure 12s have got bigger over the years). Resisted 14s then finally bought some then gradually realised that some of those felt tight. It feels good to be going back the other way.
Try not to obsess though, especially if you have any sniff of eating disorders or body dysmorphia in your family xx

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/03/2025 10:56

@Aimingdown and @Zempy , I know exactly what you mean, I was the same in a size 18.

I like to call it the sausage roll effect. 😎

There's so much variety in sizing isn't there though, it will be a while before I can fit into my really tailored work stuff in an 18, whereas a size 16 dress I bought recently needs taking in already.

unicornsaremagical · 23/03/2025 11:05

@Zempy were very similar, i was a 16 now 12, i’ve also lost 2 (nearly 3stone) and 1 stone from healthy bmi. I’m glad it’s not just me feeling wide and big. I’m sure we’re over thinking it but i can’t wait to feel normal.
I was always an 8-10 and was happy yet i’m not far of 10 & feel huge still.

Jins · 23/03/2025 11:07

The graph certainly does look rock solid @MananaMananaPenelope. Looking at the bigger picture is a great thing to do.

@Zempy I also am overly critical when I look in the mirror but I was when I was a size 6/8 and tried on some M&S or Next trousers with their ridiculously narrow waists yet child bearing hips. Now I make clothes myself and know a bit about fitting I can see that clothes look shit on someone because of the clothes rather than the person in them. Shops are full of poorly designed and badly constructed rubbish. Even in the better brands the designers don’t take into account the way that body shapes actually change through the sizes and just scale the size 10 up or down.

So next time you try something on and you don’t like the way you look in it chuck it out. It’s not you - it’s the clothes

myladyjane · 23/03/2025 11:11

Good morning everyone I hope you are well. I missed you all this week so I think I’m going to sneak back in if that’s ok.

well done losers - Jins you are rocking it lady!

@Zempyi get you. I have very much been in denial about my weight and the effect on my health.

@GrumpyMuleFan I am not a natural mover - more sloth like. I set myself a challenge for lent to do something everyday and so far I’ve stuck to it (some beautiful earrings await me at Easter if I keep it up!) . I rotate between a short weights routine based upon one a pt did for me last year, a get fit with Rick walking/dance work out as it’s the only cardio other than swimming I can bear and a yoga stretch. Yoga tends to be what I do on office days as I normally do get a good load of steps and I’m home late and can do with a wind down. I have actually amazed myself at how much I enjoy this - I used to look for stuff which was 15 mins max and now I’m up to 30 mins for both the cardio and weights just because.

i have been keeping on - I went up to 5mg for my last 2 jabs (weeks 9 and 10) and have had some ok losses.

but question - my first 5mg seemed to work well but this weeks (my bonus dose) I have felt nothing like as much. Friday I was at a workshop with work and didn’t eat barely at all. I scoffed down some sushi on the train home as I was feeling faint with plans to have something more substantial when I got back but I didn’t so my total calories were only about 600 all day. Yesterday I had all the food noise and felt hungry - usually Saturday is my most suppressed day so this felt odd. I got a pizza (poncy wood fired veggie one) and ate it over the day but thought about food all the time.

so question - do we think food noise is back because i underate so badly on Friday or because the 5mg isn’t working as well? Interestingly when I did my bonus dose at 2.5 that was a ropey week but I assumed because I was ready to move up. I have literally only just moved up this time so perhaps I haven’t measured my bonus dose properly?

HeavyHeidi · 23/03/2025 11:21

I hear you all about body image. I go from 'omg I can fit into this again! Looking great!' and 'eugh I'm still so fat and flabby, look at this jiggle'

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/03/2025 12:02

Lovely to see you posting @myladyjane . I don't know about food noise, but it would make sense wouldn't it. Your body must have needed food on Saturday after such a low calorie day on Friday. Well done for sticking with your exercise plan, that's a real achievement after long days at work (not something I've mastered yet).

I'm struggling with my appetite, really poor appetite and am having to make sure I get to 900-1000 cals a day. Cracked open the pepto bismol 🍾on Friday as I had stomach ache (through not eating I suspect), I had a boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast and ate a late lunch at about 3pm. I still had stomach ache after eating. It is so individual isn't it. I haven't felt like this in 8 weeks on MJ, why now?

I was thinking of moving my injection day forward to Monday morning again, but I don't think that's a good idea now.

Lovetoridemybicycle · 23/03/2025 12:41

Checking in particularly with the slow movers. I'm mid week 10 and 1st 2lb down. But eating between 1600-1800kcal a day (I'm 5'11 and 140kg, so that's a 500+ deficit plus exercise deficit), so will be here for 18 months, I reckon. Jumping to 7.5 this week and a little bit nervous as have a weekend long extended family party. I find it weird how some days there is more suppression than others and it doesn't seem to have a linear effect!
