Out of the two choices, I'd have the garlic mushrooms but neither are very protein-y.
I try not to have white anything any more so I'd avoid white pasta over creaminess.
are there any other options?

Had a rubbish morning at work, but cheered myself up with a fun aquarobics. also noticed today that my lower back pain and stiffness which was basically always there, has now disappeared!

Jins · 21/03/2025 17:25

I don’t really feel that I’m being good. I haven’t had any real aversions to foods and I certainly don’t have a problem with fats which is lucky because that’s what I’m using for energy. I suppose my diet has been so limited for the last decade that my body knows what’s safe now.

Massive NSV today. It’s 10 weeks since I had my last IBS episode. That’s better than the weight loss has been

UnderandOverwhelmed · 21/03/2025 17:38

That's wonderful @Jins what a great side effect!
I'm out for dinner tonight, my toddler is staying with the grandparents and for the first time since he was born we'll have the house to ourselves. I feel I want to eat something nice but don't want to make myself unwell.

HeavyHeidi · 21/03/2025 17:50

@cloudjumper I think 170 is 5'7''.
@Jins I think that could be possible, will keep an eye on wheat and any symptoms.

cloudjumper · 21/03/2025 17:56

To be fair, I have only ever used my height in cm to calculate my BMI, even after over 25 years of living in the UK, I just can't manage feet and inches 😂

DGonMJ · 21/03/2025 18:51

NSV - just tried on my new size 12 swimsuit and it fits! It’s a bit tight to get the tummy control panel over my sturdy thighs but once on it fits really nicely and I don’t look like a bloated seal!
Ordered this one which is perfect for my high-waist pear-shape: https://www.johnlewis.com/pour-moi-high-line-tummy-control-swimsuit-black-white/p112991472
(I still don’t look like the model does though)

SW 12 stone (on 01/01/2025)
CW 9 stone 10
GW 8 stone 10

We are pretty much the same - started at 12 on 1st Jan -now down to 9.7. I was just wondering if that weight loss is too fast if that makes sense? Took fifth 5mg dose yesterday and feeling rough today, barely managed some yogurt and fruit. Thinking of going back down to 2.5 next week as don’t want to lose weight by starving

workingbalance · 21/03/2025 20:38

It is great to see all the significant weight losses happening as the weeks go by. I’m down about 7kgs now which I’m happy with, with that again at least to loose to get to a heartily BMI. However I’m still on the 3.75mg as I figure it’s working slowly and I’m managing the side effects. Or at least they are at a stage I can manage although being cold all the time is tricky. Everyone keeps saying, “No it’s not cold in here” when I mentioned it so I’ve realised now it’s just me and added on the layers! Probably should at least go up to 5mg but just can’t quite entertain the prospect of feeling more nauseous! I’m however really enjoying not getting that hypoglycaemic reaction I use to get all the time when I was remotely hungry. It was so intense and hard to manage. I honestly think I prefer feeling slightly nauseous over that physical reaction!

Night away with friends tomorrow, still not told anyone I’m on the drug so hopefully my reduced eating and drinking won’t be noticed…

MJalltheway · 21/03/2025 21:23

Just looking back at MFP and realised I'm about the same weight now as I was in 2019 when I started IF for the first time. From then it took me 5 months to get down to 75kg so the current estimate of August to get to 70kg seems like it'll be about right.

BreezyPeer · 22/03/2025 07:27

Woohoo! From 1st January I have lost 2st. I haven't been this low weight for years. I am waiting to buy new clothes as I work from home so wear comfortably baggy clothes anyway. I have taken a start photo and a progress photo after losing the first stone in my workout gear so I will do that again on Monday. Hope to see a good difference. Got the same again to lose to get to a healthy bmi but moving in the right direction.

Its so helpful to hear everyone's different experiences xx

RockyisMYRhino · 22/03/2025 07:51

I’ve woken up feeling a lot less bloated and uncomfortable this morning which is a relief as I’ve got a rare afternoon and evening out in London with DH today! It also means I can wear the dress I had planned without feeling like I have to suck my stomach in the whole time! Im a bit worried about what to eat and drink while we’re out though - apparently we’re going to a street food type place so there will be loads of choice fingers crossed it’s not all deep fried or burger type stuff (DH is on the jabs as well and has been suffering with a bad stomach recently).

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/03/2025 08:17

Well done @BreezyPeer , that’s amazing.

You’ll find something @RockyisMYRhino . I ate at the street food place in the market in the shambles in York recently and I went for a chicken shawarma type thing, lots of salad and chickpeas on a huge wrap. I didn’t eat the wrap and didn’t eat anything close to all of the rest of it, but finding something to eat wasn’t a problem (to be fair I knew what I would be faced with).

I bought a lovely dress in the sales for something I’m going to next weekend, in a 16 because it’s empire line, the high waistband was tight in January. Tried it on last night and it is very roomy. Of course that’s good but I don’t think I will be able to wear it more than once.

95.6 kg today, 8.4 kg down. It’s all feeling very achievable. My stats are interesting, I’ve learned to keep faith amongst the ups and downs. WLI start 23/1.

MJalltheway · 22/03/2025 08:56

Same loss and same start date here @MananaMananaPenelope 🙌

ive done my measurements this morning, lost 9cm off my waist and 12cm off my hips.
More importantly, my scale now says my body age is....74! It was 80, and given I'm 51, that's pretty awful! But moving in the right direction. My aim is to be more like my DH who at age 52 gets a body age of 27!

HeavyHeidi · 22/03/2025 09:05

I've lost a lot around waist but just a few cm around hips. Which I guess is not a bad thing, I have some good glutes. But I think most of us are in the age bracket where we spent time agonizing if our backsides looked too big - the idea that big butt is a good thing takes some getting used to.

Jins · 22/03/2025 09:10

That’s fabulous @MJalltheway. After reading your DHs body age I’m not letting mine near my Renpho scales! He’ll end up being 23 or something stupid like that.

It’s strange but having been open about taking WLI with immediate family I’ve kept my body analyser scales to myself. DHs attitude to bathroom scales has always been a puzzle to me. As far as I’m aware he’s never set foot on my scales in all the many years we’ve been together. He definitely is in the camp that believes it leads to obsessional behaviour and negative body image. Yet he’s a clinician, weighs every patient before they get near the consulting room and fully understands the link between obesity and poor health as he runs a weekly weight loss clinic. Sadly he’s a vet so not much use as a prescriber 🤣

HeavyHeidi · 22/03/2025 09:15

@Jins well I guess his patients are less likely to develop anorexia 😁

I have ordered one of those body composition scales with handheld bar, should be arriving today, will see what the damage is.

And I totally get one can get obsessed with numbers on scale. But one of the reasons why I decided to do something was when we got back from Xmas holidays and stepped on the scale. We have one of those connected scales with registered profiles, so the scale display said: "hello, DH". I was so heavy scale assumed I was DH. Nothing wrong with weighing as much as your DH, but I'm 5'6 and he's 6'4''...

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/03/2025 09:23

Thankfully I don’t get a body age measurement on mine 😂. I’m not sure I could cope!

I’ve only measured my waist which has reduced by 4cm.

Has anyone got a plan to minimise spend on clothing as we size down? I’m the sort of shopper who buys pure Scottish wool jumpers and keeps them for ever. I don’t buy fast fashion as a rule. I googled weight loss clothing strategies earlier. The tip I took away was to pair something loose with something fitted. So, sort of keep on wearing your oversized t shirts but with trousers that fit your new size. I’ve got the Cos basic t shirt in every colour in an XL, 😩 I think I’ll try to wear them until I can buy a medium. I’m sure I’ve got a nice pair of jeans in sizes from an 18 to a 14, maybe even 12.

I think I’ll have to have a shopping session in June, before I go away. Casual clothes really are a problem area for me, I’ll have to buy some and not buy at my usual price point so as not to waste too much cash. Work clothes will be fine as I’ve kept them all.

Jins · 22/03/2025 09:25

I think I’ve weighed myself every day since having DS1. I only miss holidays. It hasn’t led to negative body image. The fat does though.

My weekly pattern continues with a gain of 0.4lb the day after my jab. It’s strange how my scales move at the end of the week when levels are dropping and I start to feel hungrier

Upperroom · 22/03/2025 09:56

I think I’m going to need to be less scared or scales and weigh daily once I’ve reached my goal… I avoid them when I’m feeling down about my fatness. I can see how easy it would be to put on half a stone over Christmas etc 🙁

Polkadotdash · 22/03/2025 09:58

@MananaMananaPenelope I was pondering clothing last night and why I never seem to have anything that fits me. I’m constantly buying ‘basics’ in different sizes and selling stuff on Vinted. It’s so tiresome and expensive to have constantly fluctuating weight.

Polkadotdash · 22/03/2025 10:32

Oooh! Just done weekly weigh in - 13st 8lbs today. So that’s 6lb in a week. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, not done anything different this week. In fact I had a creme egg yesterday as I was fed up. I’m sure next week it will pile back on.

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/03/2025 10:32

@Polkadotdash my weight has only gone up, never dropped an ounce until now.

My work stuff has always been tailored and I’ve put a lot in those vacuum bags in the loft. It’s all fairly classic stuff so I hope to feel like wearing it again. I’ve got a beautiful pure wool bias cut long skirt in denim blue that I bought in Liberty (12) 15 years ago that I would love to be able to wear again.

I’ve got rid of casual clothing as things have become worn so I don’t think l have anything like that handy. My jumpers are mostly still around because I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of them. I quite like the idea of wearing my t shirts with trousers that fit. The ribbing on the neck of the cos t shirts is quite substantial so hopefully it will look ok on the way down.

After not having a clue last night I think I have a plan to buy something like 3 pairs of M&S chinos on the way down and to wear them with my t shirts, sweaters and blazers (have nice tweedy blazers from the upwards journey). I’ve come to like Autograph in recent times as an 18. So, a sort of casual capsule for the time being.

I’m fairly tight 😂, I will be making do until I’m where I want to be. I’ve created a 🏆 pot and am moving £300 a month into it with a view to spending it all on clothes when I get there, donating everything that no longer fits.

Quite exciting really.

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/03/2025 10:36

My sister reminded me that you can generally have things reduced by two sizes earlier too. I do have a really good alterations tailor who I’ve used to make suits fit perfectly so that’s an option for some of my other stuff I guess.

Polkadotdash · 22/03/2025 10:39

@MananaMananaPenelope blimey you will be able to have a Pretty Woman shopping day with that nest egg! My shopping budget is much more modest - and I try to stick to selling something on Vinted before I buy anything new. One out one in principle. Doesn’t always work though. 😐

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/03/2025 10:51

😂 @pretty woman. Hopefully I’ll achieve where I want to be in 7 months. I don’t think it will go that far. I need to decide on my style too, I might go for a personal shopping exercise.

Casually I was sort of boring invisible middle aged middle England, Gant chinos, white shirt, Brora sweater type person before weight gain. I’ve never felt like investing in anything like I used to since I gained weight.
