Hi everyone! Thank you for the new thread @Thelittlestranger
So interesting about set points and about long term maintenance. Like many others I budgeted for a 'few months' and thinking about a minimum of 2 years is a lot more financial commitment! Worth it though.
This morning I am lighter than I have been for at least 2 years, probably a lot longer xx

Thelittlestranger · 16/03/2025 09:09

So, after a week away I've lost 3lbs this week. Delighted, as there was nothing I didn't have that I wanted - I just ate less of it. Looking back at my results it has taken me since 13th Feb to drop, so I do really feel that I was getting past that set point we were talking about.

Nearly a month hovering around the same 1-2lbs with two trips away, and then a whoosh. Past my first goal, and on to my second.

SW: 168.5lbs (76.4kg)
CW: 145.5lbs (65.9kg)
Height 5ft 1

Jab 2 of 5mg.

Today I have some weights in my future, a walk and lunch with family 😁

@BreezyPeer that is amazing, well done!

Checking in. Well done losers!

I’ve done a Pilates class already today, I’m not planning on going back as a new reformer studio has opened closer to home so I’ll give that one a try as I’d like to see if I can make an evening class as well.

My new approach is to take it as it comes, STS, up, down, whatever. I’m just going to carry on regardless, not get too 🤯bogged down in the detail/keep the faith in losertown and plod along.

Still not very hungry. Next injection due on Tuesday.

Twiceasnice25 · 16/03/2025 10:10

Morning all,

Approx 2 stone down since 10th Jan when I started, start 7.5 pen this Friday, can fit into an 18 now , before wore baggy 20 sizes!

Don't weigh myself very often, more going by clothes that fit and can see a big difference when I look at the photo I took on 31 Dec to send to the pharmacy for my first jab!

DGonMJ · 16/03/2025 10:19

@Thelittlestranger well done, losing while away seems to be the holy grail!

@MananaMananaPenelope Pilates before 10 on a Sunday, you rock. 🫡

@BreezyPeer congrats on the loss!
Like you I think I budgeted paying for MJ for maybe £200p/mo for 6-8months. After doing more research thought I would potentially stay on for a year.
Glad to see prices have come down, and hoping will get cheaper still once the pill form goes on the market. But maybe we’re a few years away from that.

Other than the mortgage, maintaining health (PT, peloton, gym and MJ) is our biggest expense. I’m very fortunate to be able to make that decision. Autistic DS sometimes only leaves the house for a PT session, and DH’s mental health benefits greatly from getting to the gym. And if/when my income changes I will never regret spending on our health.

GrumpyMuleFan · 16/03/2025 10:23

@Thelittlestranger thank you for the new thread - I ❤️ the new name too!

GrumpyMuleFan · 16/03/2025 10:28

I started out thinking I’d do this for a few months - 4-5 at the most. Now realising that it will probably be minimum of a year. Finances aside, that already shows a change in my thinking from short-term to medium term. That’s another win.

Im down 1.6 this week and really chuffed with that as struggled to clear 150. Weighing daily shows me how much it fluctuates.

CurlsandCurves · 16/03/2025 10:29

Love the new thread title!

I took some photos at the gym yesterday, it’s been about a month since I last did so and I’m planning on doing this every month going forward. I can see a small difference, in my face and my waist.

ive not taken any other body part measurements but I have lost 2 inches off my waist in the last month.

Interesting article about set points, definitely lots to think about in terms of maintaining and keeping this weight off. It all seems a very long way off yet for me, I think I’ll be needing most of this year to get to target. With about another 4-4.5 stone still to lose.

MananaMananaPenelope · 16/03/2025 11:14

@DGonMJ I have to take DC2 to work at 7am on Sunday mornings 😂, but to be fair I am a lark (up at 5am this morning).

I hadn't thought about how long I would take MJ for tbh. I don't really know my own body anymore, so I'll just bumble along until I get there, wherever that is.

I was one of those people who lost weight in times of stress/illness before chemo/steriods/hormone treatment turned that on its head. I remember dropping to below 7 stone in my early 40s when I had shingles, at 5'7" that was not a good look at all, mind you, neither was 16 stone plus at the end of my treatment journey. Hopefully I will halve the difference in time lol.

This is a great way to look at it. I was deciding whether to sign up to a gym, I have a gym in my garage but struggling to use it and I went to an amazing circuits class yesterday and was tempted to sign up buts it's another £65 per month, but I think it is worth it and then I will find time to do once in my garage - it's more likely to happen if I've already done one session.

I have definitely had some set points over the last couple of years. I'm now lighter than my 2022s lowest weight and only a few pounds away from a normal weight, I can't wait!! Still about a stone to lose to get back to 2020s weight but I know I can do it! A bit nervous about maintenance but I'm on SheMed so will definitely do a year on medication regardless and hopefully that will reset any set points!?!

Zempy · 16/03/2025 11:21

I was just looking at my 2023 posts when I was on Ozempic then Wegovy.

I started out about five pounds lighter than I was in Jan this year, and plateaued for about six weeks at the weight I am now. At that time, the pens were £££ and I just gave up and piled it back on.

Determined that will not happen again. I absolutely have to get to a healthy weight. It might take me the rest of the year, but that’s OK.

myladyjane · 16/03/2025 11:25

Just saying good morning and well done losers. I am thinking I probably won’t post much as I’m struggling quite a bit. My losses seem so slow in comparison to many and I’ve got a lot to lose (just over a stone down but probably 4 to go). When people are talking about getting to 8 or 9 stone something and I’d be happy with a number with an 11 in it it seems like a different world. I’m also suffering quite a bit with side effects - nothing major but constant sulphur burps and wind and it’s making me feel gross and unpleasant to be around. All very much a me problem.

I wanted to place mark so I can check in occasionally to see your fabulous losses from time to time though.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 16/03/2025 11:33

I’m in the same boat @myladyjane, at 1 stone gone but at least 3 stone to go, much slower losses than other people, and I seem to swing between not enough suppression and being ill.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 16/03/2025 11:34

Sorry you’re struggling @myladyjane but do feel free to post on here, it’s such a supportive place for wherever you are in your journey. I know what you mean, I see some peoples starting weight on here and think god I’d love to weight that much! I have at least 12 stone to lose to get anywhere close to the 11s! But I’m still here, still plodding along and hoping I will make it to a place I’m happy with.

With regards to the financial side of things, I’ve actually found that I’m breaking even most months. My weekly food bill has reduced by £20-£30 and I’m not getting takeaways at all, or stopping off at the shops on the way home from work for crisps, cake and chocolate. I knew from the start that I was in this for the long haul, it’ll be a good year or 2 before I reach goal and I may well need to be on MJ in some form for the rest of my life. If I am then it’ll still be worth every penny to me.

RonMJ · 16/03/2025 11:42

@myladyjane have you looked at the >5 stone to lose thread? The posters there are at all stages of their journey but everyone understands the different issues of a long journey to goal.

Zempy · 16/03/2025 11:43

@myladyjane You can do this. You started a couple of months ago and are already twenty per cent there towards your goal. That’s fantastic.

I still have two stone to lose before I can think about maintenance. Plenty of people here with four stone or more to go.

@MummyInTheNecropolis I agree re the money side. I’m saving loads on my weekly groceries, plus as I am not drinking, or eating much, I save loads when socialising. Last birthday meal out I attended, I paid £25 and everyone else paid £95. I was quite generous in my tip included in the £25, as I had a bowl of pasta and a Diet Coke which came to £19. Everyone else had cocktails, wine, spirits and alcoholic coffees plus three courses. Plus I drove. In any case, as @DGonMJ says, prioritising spending on your health is never a bad idea.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 16/03/2025 11:45

thanks for the new thread, I’ve not posted for a while but still here, starting 7.5mg on Tuesday, 1 stone down since Jan with lots to lose I guess I’m just a slow loser, will probably need a couple of years on it or just to find the dose where I feel suppression x

Jins · 16/03/2025 11:53

I’m one that needs to be 8 or 9 stone and I’m sorry if that’s added to your struggling @myladyjane. If there’s one thing I’ve picked up it’s that sizes and weights are just numbers and the important thing is to be at a healthy weight for yourself.

I must be feeling brave or daft but this photo is me at 10st 13, about BMI 28. I qualify due to weight related conditions but I think anyone would agree that I need to lose weight around my midriff.

Morning, losers!
Went to gym this morning to lift some weights, it's no longer horrifying to look at myself in lycra in all those mirrors.

I definitely see it as a long term thing - 2 years to re-set the set point sounds believable. And I'm also saving a lot of money on food and especially alcohol. Now, I will certainly make up for it clothes shopping 😁

As for people having more or less to lose, and different goals - we still have the same end goal, healthy weight that allows us to be comfortable in our bodies, right?

I think it depends how tall you are. I'm 5'1.5" and I've lost almost 2 stone, with at least another to go, so it will probably 3 and a bit stone lost. But that 3 and a bit stone probably looks like 5 stone in someone taller. For me to be a healthy BMI I need to be under 9st 8, where as for someone taller than could be 11st. It's all relative!
We are all on our own journey, it takes as long as it takes and we can all support each other regardless or start and end points and how fast or slow ❤️

I also had to see myself in the mirror yesterday at the gym and thank god I've lost almost 2 stone, god knows what I used to look like!! I could see that my things still need to lose a fair amount (that's where I carry my weight) but I was happy that my stomach looked slim and I didn't feel totally out of place. There was a larger lady working out with us and I just thought good for her. I wish I'd come before rather than waited until now!!

MananaMananaPenelope · 16/03/2025 12:05

@myladyjane stick with me and the others that are slower than a 🐢 in a headwind.

Focus on something like losertown and what you like doing/can fit into your life, not what anyone else is doing. I read weights and running and think, nah, not for me, not interested, but I love other things.

You will lose weight @myladyjane, we might still be here in November, but it will happen. 💐

I’m aiming for anywhere between 12.5 stone and 11 stone.

HeavyHeidi · 16/03/2025 12:07

@tinyemmy if you enjoyed classes, I would definitely consider signing up. It's often more fun to exercise with other people, also great for mental health. I have also plenty of equipment at home, and tons of exercise videos, but I would never do as intense bodycombat at home as I would at the gym.
