Happy birthday @Upperroom and congrats on the loss! 🥳

Thank you so much x

cloudjumper · 18/03/2025 08:18

Being cold has been one of my main symptoms when I started taking mj. It got a bit better after about 5-6 weeks. But actually, it was quite a welcome side effect for me, instead of the menopausal heat 😆 At the moment, I can’t distinguish if I’m cold because our downstairs is freezing, or because of the drug 🤷🏼‍♀️

MJalltheway · 18/03/2025 08:29

Well done @Zempy for hitting the 2 stone mark! 👏
I've decided to stick with another 5mg dose this week, I have a dose-and-a-half ish left in my pen because I used the bonus dose from 2.5 as half a dose and took half a dose from the new pen to make it up to 5mg. So although I've had 4x5mg shots, I've only used 3.5 doses from the 5mg pen.

Then I can decide whether to stick with 5mg for the next pen being delivered next week or go to 7.5mg. I'm very steadily losing 0.8kg each week (1.7lbs) but am wary of getting a 5mg pen again and finding it wears off after 2 weeks.

Hopefully the warmer weather due in a couple of days will help out everyone who's feeling cold! It's been an exceptionally cold spring so far.
off to aquarobics again today 😁 and I've joined a gym, although it's not open yet....

Fountofwisdom · 18/03/2025 08:32

I’m on week 2, day 6 of 7.5mg. Am struggling to eat enough! Just not feeling hungry most of the time. Manage to force down a yoghurt for breakfast but also trying to eat fruit and can only manage half an apple or banana.

Then not at all hungry until maybe 6pm or so. So will cook a meal but can only manage half a portion. Made a casserole last night and was relieved that I felt a bit hungry but when it was ready, I only ate about 7/8 spoonfuls.

Am going to revert to making a fruit smoothie for breakfast as that seems the easiest way to get some nutrition down me. Anyone else struggling to eat on 7.5mg?

CurlsandCurves · 18/03/2025 08:49

Weigh day and I’ve lost 0.8lb. Boo. Sod it, I’m calling it a lb. Close enough.

I was really hoping for 2 to take me to my first stone but hey ho. Realistically I’ve not been getting enough water down me and I’ve had a couple of snacks the last couple of evenings as suppression has worn off.

It’s still a loss and I’ll get there next week.

DGonMJ · 18/03/2025 09:02

Congrats @Zempy 🥇

I’m avoiding weighing today as I feel heavier, as though there’s plenty of food sitting in my stomach. Digestion has slowed down and I’ve eaten a lot since Sunday! I read the other link on the set point thread about re-feeding and now I’ve got that as my get out of jail free card. I’m not overeating, I’m re-feeding.

I was looking at my MFP weight tracking I’ve done since I downloaded the app in 2013. I can see my set point was around 71kg. Then it went up to 76 at age 39 which was a new high for me and I got a PT, gained muscle and lost 12kg. Then I didn’t track for years, but managed to stay around 68kg for at least a year after losing. Fast forward through lockdown, stressful job, my set point went back to 76 but could still lose a few kilos to feel better. Then last year a new high of 78/79 and with MJ I’ve managed to get past my usual ‘give up the diet’ set point of 71kg. So I’m expecting body to be fighting back hard now and slow my metabolism right down.
I’m still eating healthily, not drinking alcohol, gently exercising daily. Hoping that this at least maintains my health and while my metabolism re-stabilises.

W9 D2 - total loss so far 7lbs

I thought I was going up to 7.5mgs this week but actually have a 5mg pen instead, which is disappointing.

Can someone let me know whether Losertown is just about counting calories or whether it looks at trajectory and prediction of weight loss? I use a weight loss app - it tells me it will take a year and a half to reach goal! ☹️

Polkadotdash · 18/03/2025 09:08

Joining thread for motivation boost. I started MJ on 1 Jan. I’m now on third jab (one at 2.5mg, two at 5mg). Just not losing anything. Every time I lose a pound I gain two. 2:5mg did nothing for me. Then on 5mg initially I just felt sick all the time so I didn’t eat. Once that stabilised I’ve been on about 1500 calories a day. I had set out a plan in my head that if I lost 1lb per week, by Easter I would be 16lbs down. If I’d managed 2lb per week, 32lbs down. Of course I’m failing dismally against that plan. I started off thinking that my target weight would begin with 11. Then ‘well if I can make it to 12’ and now I’m like ‘Christ can I even make it under 14?’ Please help! My motivation is disappearing as quickly as my bank balance.

DGonMJ · 18/03/2025 09:22

@0ncemorewithfee1ing is it worth buying a 7.5mg pen and saving the 5 for another time? I think Losertown does look at calorie deficit, so you can plot different deficits to look at how that affects the rate of loss.

Welcome to the thread @Polkadotdash. Sorry to hear you’re struggling. As you’ll see on this thread, rate of loss and sensitivity to MJ is so different from person to person. Are you tracking calories, protein, water? Are you managing to get any exercise or strength training in? Some have found that this helps, but for some it just seems to be that they need to be on a higher dose.

cloudjumper · 18/03/2025 09:25

@Fountofwisdom I'm struggling to eat on 7.5 mg, too - it hard to get to my daily calorie target, and I've started noticing the impact of that, feeling really tired and having little energy. I'm about to do my 2nd jab of 7.5 mg today, hoping that it will settle a bit (I remember feeling like this when I went up to 5 mg, so I'm hoping that it's just a matter of getting used to the new dose!).

Polkadotdash · 18/03/2025 09:36

@DGonMJ thank you. I’m not doing any strength training at the moment. I’m finding that the reduced calories makes me very weary and I suffer with anaemia too so there are days when just moving my arms and legs feels like a work out!

Jins · 18/03/2025 09:48

@Polkadotdash welcome and sorry to hear things are so frustrating for you. I’m increasingly thinking that following a recognised diet plan (any that appeals) in conjunction with Mounjaro will give me more structure. I’m demonstrably not very good at eating well and making good choices on my own so I’m tempted to let someone else do the thinking and let the Mounjaro handle the will power bit.

Obviously that’s going to put the responsibility of maintaining over to me but I’ll deal with that when I’m closer to goal. Hopefully

Zempy · 18/03/2025 10:03

@Polkadotdash What is your age and weight?

I would gain on 1500 calories a day and no exercise. Have you double checked your calories?

It could be that a higher dose will help you. Keep the faith! 💐

Polkadotdash · 18/03/2025 10:46

@Zempy I’m 5’ 7’’ and 14 stone. 1500 cals is an average. So some days less (e.g. yesterday was 1300) and others more (like Saturday where I had wine and crisps for my evening meal. Not the best.) I do think that the MJ is having some effect as I’m really not that interested in food. It’s driving my husband mad as everything he suggests to cook I’m like ‘nah’. But I’m not losing anything.

HeavyHeidi · 18/03/2025 10:54

OK I definitely need to buy more bras. Cups half-empty. Am still a good F-cup though and they don't believe in that where I live..

Boohoo76 · 18/03/2025 11:25

I haven’t lost weight for two weeks. I started out at 12st13 on 17 Jan and by 5 March I was 12st. I was so excited about seeing 11 on the scales but every day I stay at 12st 😢

Polkadotdash · 18/03/2025 11:36

I’m wondering if maybe I need to have a week on 800 cals per day just to see if that changes anything. Although the thought of it makes me feel very weary! God knows how you are meant to do 12 weeks on 800 cals on the proper programme.

HeavyHeidi · 18/03/2025 11:57

@Polkadotdash sorry to hear it's not working. Maybe you should consider changing to a different medication, Wegovy for example? I know people who didn't lose on one type but another worked.

emmsyg · 18/03/2025 12:45

I have now reached 10st 13lb and being below 11 stone for the first time in 9 years makes me very happy! My biggest side effects so far (currently on dose 3 of 3.75) - definitely have the sulphur burps and quite bad stomach trapped wind usually at its worst 2 days post jab. Glad I didn't go straight to 5mg in my case.

Also cold which is definitely unusual for me. People have definitely noticed I've lost weight now, and I'm about half way to goal.

NSV - I was feeling very weak when running initially and this appears to have passed a bit. I was dreading a 10k I'd signed up for when I was running well at the end of last year, but I got around it much faster than I was anticipating, which I'm pretty sure is a direct consequence of lugging 1 1/2 stone less around the distance, as my training has been very poor since starting this.

I'm actually excited to get to a point where I can stop and focus on my running a bit again and see how much faster I can go if I'm lighter, but I've decided to try and get back to my 3 days a week minimum starting this week (and I've said it now so I'm accountable to someone 😂)

Edited to say: Some weeks are very slow losses for me too, I've hovered between this 10.13 and 11st1 for a couple of weeks now, and on average I'm only losing 2lb on a good week, more like 1-1.5lb is normal for me.

Zempy · 18/03/2025 12:50

Congratulations @emmsyg that must feel brilliant.

I had six vials of blood taken at endocrinologist today so should get some data in a few days. I told him how much I had lost since Jan 8 on MJ and he just smiled and said “it works doesn’t it.” He said that losing weight will have a profound impact on my health and help my battered old misused body get back to strength.

I am so excited to get the results!!!

Polkadotdash · 18/03/2025 12:59

@HeavyHeidi thanks. I’m going to give the 7.5mg a try and if nothing after a month on that I will think about a change. Although I have read that if MJ doesn’t work then Wegovy won’t either. I think if you go Wegovy first and then MJ it can, but Wegovy is less effective for weight loss.

HeavyHeidi · 18/03/2025 13:05

Today at work we spent half of our team meeting discussing how much weight I have lost and how. 😂
By calorie deficit and increased exercise, if anybody asks. Which is not a lie either. While my team members are lovely and I wouldn't have issues telling them, some of them are friends with people that are the biggest gossips in the company.

Polkadotdash · 18/03/2025 13:47

@HeavyHeidi thats great that your weight loss is making others notice. Out of interest, why wouldn’t you tell them that you were using medication too? No-one has asked me because I haven’t lost anything but I’m wondering if I did say MJ that people would react differently? I hadn’t planned not to say it but thinking maybe I should just keep it to myself. (Well, I’ve got to actually lose some weight first so it might be a moot point)

HeavyHeidi · 18/03/2025 14:00

@Polkadotdash you missed the long and mean thread in AIBU where people were positively nasty about those using medication. I'm pretty sure those people live and work among us.
In addition to that, a couple of not so nice colleagues have already loudly proclaimed here how stupid and lazy people must be to do that, they would have a field day, so I don't want to give them the satisfaction.
