@InfoSecInTheCity thank you!

WoolerOwl · 17/04/2025 18:18

I'm a lurker too, @doodlydooo! I find it so encouraging reading everyone else's stories. And knowing that the path isn't always straight or smooth, but that we are all keeping going.

The NSVs make me smile. My NSV today is that I put on a very specific piece of clothing that I have to wear for work, that I haven't worn for a few months. It was so loose! I am seven weeks in, and looking forward to my second month's weigh in next Friday. I have lost 8kg so far. 23kg to go to get me to a BMI of 23 (from a starting BMI of about 33).

alltablenochairs · 17/04/2025 21:44

Another NSV here.

I've lost around 27kg so far. And had to get a new pair of glasses because my old ones were fitted for the pre-MJ me. They kept sliding down my face giving me a schoolmarm-esque look. Considering I'm very, very longsighted this wasn't such a good idea. The new ones are at the least staying where they should be!

Well, I survived last night! - does getting on/off the loo multiple times overnight count as squats?

Daily weigh in this morning and I've put ON a pound 🤣, how is that even possible!!!!!! 🤣 Maybe it is all the new muscles I built from all the squats!

(I know it is probably water retention!)

squats ✔️
extra steps ✔️
restful sleep ❌

hope you're feeling better now!

as ever I'm loving the NSVs but @InfoSecInTheCity's losing her jerky resting place is the best 🤣
I remember discovering that some of my rowing crew really struggled with keeping their blade in place while getting into shoes etc - I always just stuck it under my huge boobs!

Good morning. Happy Easter weekend to you all.

I had a terrible week last week with low mood and just feeling numb. It got so bad I had to take some time off work. The only thing I had done differently was to inject in the evening as the dc were around in the day (usually do morning jabs), and I had also injected into the left side of my tummy (usually jab in right side tummy or right thigh). The low mood hit me the day after my jab.

When I jabbed on Wednesday, I went back to morning jab on right side of tummy and it seems to have helped. I have no idea how, but I definitely feel better. I thought I'd share in case anyone else is under a dark cloud of numbness.

I've just had a funny moment of realisation eating breakfast. 5 weeks ago I would have been having a pastry on the go, or nothing at all, then sugar crash and grab more pastry mid morning. Rinse and repeat all day.

Today, I had a bowl of greek yoghurt, nuts, chia seeds and berries. I ate sitting down, with a full line up of supplements next to me, and my first coffee with collagen! Who even am I 😂.

Can I just double check that I should definitely be eating over my BMR? I am adding calories and it just feels so wrong, that I am going to just continue to plateau. I’m now having about 1550 cals a day, my BMR is 1500. But my TDEE is 1940, and have always thought I needed to eat at least 500 below that number.
Some things I have added are protein, so chicken slices, cheese triangles (seem to be ok with these, although I don’t really like the taste) and added more eggs to my day. Am also looking into a good protein powder. Anyone have any suggestions? I want as low cal as possible.
I have started a multi vitamin, so hoping that my energy improves and brain fog eases a bit

Yes! As pp said.

But also worth considering is how much energy from food actually gets to your cells. If you're insulin resistant (which you probably are if you've been overweight for a while) your body isn't getting what it needs from food and so you do need to make sure you feed yourself adequately.

Whey protein powder is helpful. Lots of protein with every meal. Lots of veg, some fruit, and not very much rice, pasta or bread at all. Sweets, biscuits etc only as rare treats. I think this is a pretty solid diet for people trying to overcome Insulin resistance and restore metabolic health. I wouldn't worry about the calorie content so much as the nutrients.

I totally am! I've been watching it like a hawk since it was about 960 messages - pressure gig!

As soon as it hits 990 I'll do a new one and fill this one up with emojis 😄

WeAllHaveWings · 18/04/2025 11:23

😂 No pressure! Just checking you were still around and hadn't disappeared for some Easter hols!

Hotflushesandchilblains · 18/04/2025 11:39

So glad I found this thread!!!! I had my first injection yesterday. Starting at 109 kg, have a long way to go to feel healthy and just found out I have a problem with my spine and liver which makes being healthy even more important.

I am going to try some weight exercises - I bought some hand weights in preparation. And seated HIIT sounds like a good place to start. I have an upset stomach, but nothing I cant cope with. Hoping this is the worst it will get. I was scared of the injection hurting, but it was nothing really.

I am excited about doing something other than the same old things which have failed over the last 30 years!

taylorswift1989 · 18/04/2025 13:04

Weighed myself today. Don't do that very often, because I can find it quite triggering, but today feels okay. So I've lost a stone since starting MJ.

I feel like that's a decent start - not too fast or drastic. I'm now wondering whether to stick to 2.5mg since I'm losing weight. I started a 5mg pen this morning but I only gave myself about 3mg because I'm nervous! I'll see how this week goes and if I feel okay I'll maybe do the 5mg.

akaFrosty · 18/04/2025 15:07

@taylorswift1989 that's a great loss, well done!

I injected just under 3mg with the golden dose and I can definitely feel more suppression than I did on 2.5. I start my 5mg pen on Wednesday so I think I'll try 3.75. It's good to have some flexibility to play around with doses on the 5mg pen.

WeAllHaveWings · 18/04/2025 15:38

@taylorswift1989 I try to disconnect the weight loss from my decision on whether to move up. I base it on whether the obsessive food noise is controlled and if I can keep to my calorie deficit (with a bit of willpower). If I can the weight loss will come.

If I feel the effect is reducing I give it a few days/or a week or so to see if it kicks back in, it always has so far (43 weeks and still on 3.75mg).

The longer you can stay on the lower doses, if they work for you, the more scope you have to go up later, when you need to. As you lose more weight your TDEE will reduce too (mines has reduced from 2,403 to 1,886) and you need to eat less to stay in deficit and it might help to have doses to go up to then. It also saves money.

FYI - if you do 3.75mg (45 clicks) you will get 5 doses on days 0,7,14,21,28 out before the pen locks. There will still be liquid left which could allow for a 6th 3.75mg dose using a syringe (0.45ml) but that would be on day 35 which is 5 days over the 30 day discard instructions. I keep mine in the fridge and I am comfortable going just 5 days over, I wouldn't do more, but everyone needs to do their own risk assessments if they consider doing that.

SilenceInside · 18/04/2025 16:06

Week 41 weigh in for me.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 88.6kg (13st 13lbs), was 89.7kg (14st 1bs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 31 weeks on this dosage.

A couple of milestones for me this week. Just dipping into the 13st bracket, which is the first time in such a long time, at least 12 years. I've also now lost 50kg whilst being on Mounjaro which is pretty unbelievable.

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/04/2025 17:08

Holy pantaloons @SilenceInside! 50kgs is phenomenal, well bloody done!

SilenceInside · 18/04/2025 17:25

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity it honestly doesn't really feel real. And it's tempered by the fact that I am still obese. Hey ho.
