I’ve been following you guys along for the journey since June 2024, but I’m going to have to break for a while now, anyway.
SW 18st 6lbs
CW 12st 5lbs
On Tuesday this week I suffered a burst aneurysm which caused a subdural hematoma. I had surgery for it on Wednesday and thankfully I am recovering well so far. But still in I intensive care.
I will be speaking with as many medical professionals I can about whether or not I can take Mounjaro at some point again. I’ve just tipped into an overweight BMI instead of obese and would love to be able to continue losing my final two stone if I can.
Good luck to you all. I will continue to read your updates.

Blimey that sounds scary - hope you continue to recover well and will keep fingers crossed for the ongoing MJ journey - you've done so well - keep with us if you can xxx

I would really appreciate some advice!

I have been on the 2.5 dose for a month and am going to be away from home, after submitting travel documents the pharmacist let me have the 5 and 7.5 to last until I return. I have had excellent suppression on the 2.5 with little to no side effects and am wondering if going to 5 and then 7.5 each month may be too fast. I don't know if the pharmacist would allow me to have another 2.5 after already receiving the other pens early. I am also a bit concerned about side effects while I am away from home.

I have seen people saying they went to 3.5 rather than 5 and was wondering how that worked - is it by using a separate syringe or is there a way to get the lower dose by using the pen?

Am I worrying about nothing? Do most people go up to the next dose each month or not?

Thank you for any help!

SilenceInside · 30/03/2025 10:01

@StrongerEveryDay when you do a normal dose from the pen, you twist the mechanism out to the 1 position. It’s 60 clicks as shown by the black marker lines. If you wanted a half dose, you can turn the pen only 30 clicks rather than all the way to the 1 position. You can work out other doses with some simple maths. I have done this when I was nervous of going up to 7.5mg, and did two injections of 5mg, then one at 6.25 before doing a 7.5 full dose.

alwaysscared · 30/03/2025 10:15

Morning, can I ask if anyone injects into their arm? Has anyone noticed a difference in suppression? I need to try something because thigh and stomach are just not cutting it any more.
Im even tempted to come off for a month and go back on to 2.5, see if that will lower my tolerance again.

InfoSecInTheCity · 30/03/2025 10:41

@Snozzlemaid so sorry to hear you’re unwell and I hope you recover quickly and well!

SilenceInside · 30/03/2025 10:57

@alwaysscared I’ve always injected into my stomach, but it’s worth giving it a try injecting into your arm, for a change.

@Snozzlemaid just to echo everyone else in wishing you a speedy recovery.

WeAllHaveWings · 30/03/2025 11:13

@StrongerEveryDay, @SilenceInsidehas explained how to use clicks, just to add you do not have to move up doses if you are not ready, it makes sense to stay on the lowest dose that gives you the effect you want and your pharmacy should support this, if they don’t, move pharmacy.

I would stick with 2.5mg from the 5mg pen by click counting. Using the 5mg pen instead of a 2.5mg pen means if you want to increase mid month you can. When you decide to move up from 2.5mg you can also consider doses between 2.5mg - 5mg (I have been on 3.75mg - 45 clicks - for 35 weeks).

It is a bit of a lottery having to buy in advance when you are not long started as you don’t know how you are going to respond over the next 2 months. When you get back your pharmacy should support you buying 5mg again, if they don’t find a more supportive pharmacy.

StrongerEveryDay · 30/03/2025 11:25

@WeAllHaveWings @SilenceInside

Thank you so much - this info makes a lot of sense and has helped me to feel much better about going on my travels with the pens!

QueenOfHiraeth · 30/03/2025 13:43

@alwaysscared It's worth trying other injection sites.

There is a clinical study that measured the blood levels that resulted from different sites but we don't really know if those higher blood levels correspond to better effects as the differences were pretty small.
That study suggested tummy gave highest levels, then back of arm, then thigh but, if you give any credence to social media, it seems to vary from person to person.
I have tried all three. Tummy is my normal site but I do get variations from week to week even there (I think, oddly, that anywhere across the roll above my tummy button gives me a better result than the one below but I may be kidding myself!). The back of the arm was similar to tummy for me but harder to inject into easily while the thigh was definitely lower effect so I haven't chanced it again.
Good luck

Timetofindme · 30/03/2025 16:16

@Snozzlemaid sorry to hear that. Hope your recovery is smooth and you are well looked after. As others, I'm sure your recovery will be helped by your amazing weight loss so far. Do keep checking in, this is such a friendly supportive thread!

What a beautiful weekend it’s been, sunshine and dry. Hope everyone on here has had a lovely weekend and if you celebrate Mothers Day that you were treated like the Queens you are.

I’ve enjoyed spending time out in the garden, have managed to clear a section of brambles that was bothering me and replaced it with a seating area I can use when The Tween and her friends are colonising my gazebo.

Feeling optimistic about weigh in day tomorrow, I’ve stuck to my calories, been doing regular exercise and drinking lots of water.

alltablenochairs · 30/03/2025 23:56

Lovely weekend here thanks. DS who generally doesn't have much insight (complex additional needs e.t.c) made me a really meaningful and thoughtful present. Something I will ALWAYS treasure. The 15 year old went to the cheese counter at Morrisons and got me a selection of cheese. My kids might be arses a lot of the time but today they nailed it.

Upping the water big time. We can't have squash in the house because of ds (he obsesses over having it but at the same time can't have it because it sends him off like a rocket). However water with a slice of frozen lemon is equally as good. Hopefully this will have the desired effect because things seem to have slowed down to a snails pace.

Monday weigh in and 2,5 lb loss

Starting weight - 217.5 lbs
Current weight - 159.5 lbs
Total loss - 58 lbs

I put a splash of lime juice in mine (I keep a small bottle of lime and one of lemon juice in the fridge to stick in various things!) - makes a big difference to how much I can drink in a day 😊

Monday weigh in and 2,5 lb loss

Starting weight - 217.5 lbs
Current weight - 159.5 lbs
Total loss - 58 lbs

Fantastic - still to be losing 2.5lbs some weeks is so good and gives me lots of hope 😀

I'm feeling rough today - not sure if I'm coming down with a cold, or just knackered from a weekend of late night dancing gigs! My poor body doesn't know what I'm doing to/with it these days 😁

Am going to weigh later this week when I'm next feeling OK - my prediction chart next has me weighing in on April 9th, but I'll probably cave in before then!

Pleasingly, I hit my April 9th mini target 2 weeks ago, so I'm confident I'll still be ahead of where I thought I'd be by then, which is such a bloody amazing feeling!

MooBaggage · 31/03/2025 16:01

Injection day today and I've gone with 6mg, as 5mg didn't seem to give any suppression in the end and this last week of 6.5mg has been a bit rough..!

I'm going back to basics - I'd stopped with the regular hand weights, so have started again and have done 20 mins today. Lots of water on the go and have had a lovely lunch of prawns on spinach.

This week is going to be a good one 💪😊

InfoSecInTheCity · 31/03/2025 16:20

I am trying to plan what maintenance will look like, I still have around a stone to lose and hopefully most of that will be off my belly. At that point I will need to up my calorie enough to stay the same but not enough to gain, so trying to figure out what that will look like. I do not want to allow myself free reign, that doesn’t work well for me, and I’ve developed a routine of eating that while others may find boring, I find comforting because I know if I stick to it it will work. So I need to replicate that but with around an extra 500 calories a day.

i think I’m resigned to logging my food in MFP forever so that I can keep track of myself and make sure I don’t let the bakery counter at Morrisons/Lidl make my decisions for me. I will also need to make sure I maintain a regular routine of weighing in and checking in on myself. I am estimating I have a good 3 months before I need to implement this plan but I like to try to mentally prepare myself.

MooBaggage · 01/04/2025 04:49

Random weigh in and am really chuffed 😊. Have hit 30lb loss which feels like a big number - also hit 10% weight loss and my BMI has crept down another number!

SW 20 stone 3lb
CW 18 stone 1lb

Still a long way to go, but am feeling positive (although posting at ridiculous o'clock due to MJ headache - my only negative side effect 🙄).

Well done @MooBaggage 30lb is a fantastic achievement and what a lovely graph!

Hope the headache goes away quickly.

alwaysscared · 01/04/2025 08:19

Well I’m truly stumped. 2 days ago I managed to get back down to the weight I was 7 days prior (was up between 1-3lbs in those 7 days). Weighed today and I’m back up 3lbs! I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve rejigged my diet to add more protein but kept around 1400 calories a day.
Is it possible that I have reached a weight that my body is comfortable with and I’m just going to stay there?? Surely that’s not a thing? I’m just totally confused. I know I need to up my dose but can’t do that at the moment, but I’m still eating in a calorie deficit so the dose shouldn’t really matter. I’m weighing at 14 stone today, and 5ft 7in so I still have a long way to go.

That's very frustrating.... 😔 Logically, a jump like that in just a few days can't be actual fat - must be fluids? Just annoying that it's taking time now to shift things downwards - this is the point in the past where I'd get utterly fed up and attack the biscuits..... but this time we won't! Hopefully you're still on enough MJ to push through it and keep going. Are you going to talk to your GP about a possible increase in dose - even if you have to buy the additional amount privately?

I can't remember how much you've got left to lose, but I really hope the next couple of weeks see a positive shift - maybe don't weigh for a good while (way easier said than done.... 🙄).

It is completely normal to have periods of time where your weight stalls for a few weeks. It’s taken years to gain weight, it doesn’t all pile on in a week. It takes time to remove it too. Your body is constantly readjusting and every adjustment takes days to settle and become the new norm.

look back at where you were at the start of this journey. Is your weight lower now? Is the trend over time downwards? Every change you make will take multiple days, sometimes even a couple of weeks to reflect on the scales. You need to just trust the process and keep eating at a deficit, eating nutritious foods, doing exercise where you can and drinking water.

alwaysscared · 01/04/2025 10:03

@InfoSecInTheCity I know, it’s just so frustrating!! Argh
@MooBaggage I have an appointment with the doc on Friday so going to discuss it with her then

alwaysscared · 01/04/2025 10:30

I think I need to stop weighing myself but the temptation is strong!
