Hi everyone, Just checking in for my weigh in.

Highest weight - 16st 9.5
Mounjaro SW on 15.3.25 - 14st 12
CW - 13st 6.5

Loss this week: 3.5 lbs
Total loss on Mounjaro: 19.5 lbs (1 st 5.5 lbs)
Total loss overall: 45 lbs (3st 3 lbs)

Have done 4 weeks on 2.5mg and 2 weeks on 5mg, taking my third 5mg dose today. I have a 7.5mg pen to move up to after I finish the 5mg But 5 has been working pretty well so far so I will see how I feel after this week. I found week 3 on the 2.5mg the suppression wasn’t as good and food noise was creeping back so will see if that happens again on week 3 of 5mg.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2025 13:31

A hat trick Saturday weigh in from a wet ☔and cold 🥶Scotland!

Hello 14s 😃 its been a loooong time since I last saw you (two decades!), passed 90lbs loss and passed 30% lost too!

End of week - 40 (5 x 2.5mg, 35 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 14st 12lbs BMI 31.2
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3
Total loss - 6st 07lbs (91lbs), 30.4%
Next Target 🎯- 14st 3lb (BMI < 30, 100lbs lost, Onederland!)

Last dose of current pen today and next pen waiting in fridge to get me to that next big target 🎯! Still don't like using syringes 💉 for that last dose even though they are in some ways easier than the awkward kwikpen to inject.

@Arglefrasteri describe it as marshmallowy and marshmallowy floofy fat usually for me signifies an impending whoosh on the scales. I think it’s the texture of fat that’s breaking down and about to be eliminated.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2025 13:51

@alwaysscared my main meals are similar to @InfoSecInTheCity - centered around a decent portion size of protein - chicken breast, steak, salmon, cod etc, add a hard boiled egg (there are always some in the fridge) and then a mix of salad or veggies. Small portion of carbs. It is very different to how I used to eat where 70-80% of the meal would be pasta/rice and a rich sauce - we bought an airfryer and it is brilliant for chicken and meat. Other meals are usually home made lentil and ham soups or salads with salmon/prawns and (another) egg. Breakfast is usually a protein yoghurt with some granola and berries. I will roast a while chicken once a week and strip it and put in the fridge for lunches and snacks for ds or myself (tastes better that a single roast breast).

Are eating enough calories? I listened into the Oushk live the other night and someone was saying they are on around 700 calories a day and not losing. The advice was to try not go below 1200 (weekly average), she advised them it wasn't healthy and to start increasing their calories by 50 calories a week until they hit that and then all the usual advice - eat protein with every meal so it is spaced out during the day, drink 2-3L of water to stay hydrated. Reduce (not remove) carbs. Move if you can (walking/chair/strength exercises if possible).

alwaysscared · 29/03/2025 14:21

I am definitely eating enough calories. Too many I think. It’s about 1400 a day now as I’m so hungry all the time. This is why I want to find some lower calorie options for my tea.
I have constant food noise so have to eat snacks between meals, if I get too hungry it affects my mental health (I have a very strange relationship with food) and I get very panicky. That’s why I’m so gutted that the doctors won’t put me up to 7.5mg 😞

Yes this exactly it, I know it's a positive sign but I just hate the sensation!

wow wings congratulations your starting BMI wasn't far off my current so I'm loving the idea that a 30bmi might be in touching distance in 40 weeks! (Just into 2026 - hopefully the rain will have stopped by then !!)

@alwaysscaredI'm not sure I have much to add to the meal suggestions. Greek yogurt & berries, soup & cottage cheese (on the side not in!), chicken curry with cauliflower rice, are my main staples & whenever it warms up a bit I'll do lots of shredded chicken salads again.

Timetofindme · 29/03/2025 17:36

@alwaysscared have you worked out how many calories put you in a deficit? Are you sure you're not setting too big a deficit which is why you're hungry?

Meals wise I find protein more filling so I'd probably go for a chicken breast (with some sort of seasoning) and a load of veg, and maybe a couple of baby potatoes - I'll often do 3/4 kinds and half my plate will be veg with the meat. You might find eating a bit more for meals makes you less hungry between, or maybe try snacks based around protein if you're not already

roughtyping · 29/03/2025 17:36

Oh what does the ‘soft fat’ mean?? Funnily enough this week I’ve really noticed it on my tummy. Wish the fat on my thighs would disappear. Think I actually maybe have lipodoema or something like it, even when I was a skinny Minnie 7.5 stone I had ‘big’ thighs!

love reading how everyone is getting on. Well done all of you!

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2025 17:45

Thanks @Arglefraster, it doesn't feel like 40 weeks since I started and I have been really fortunate it has worked for me at such a low dose.

Shredded chicken 🤔. I've never made that before but sounds interesting way to get protein in, maybe for work lunchbox, and something ds might have in wraps too. Do you have a recipe, what seasoning/flavours works with it? Does it stay moist / store well in fridge for a few days?

EternalFatalist · 29/03/2025 18:35

Happy Saturday! Having lost 4st 5 lbs so far, I've decided to stay in today and start on a much-needed wardrobe purge. I've spent most of the afternoon trying on dresses. 90% have been too big and are now in a large pile on the floor. There are some dresses that fit, but I'm being ruthless - if they are not flattering, they're joining the pile.

It feels good to finally notice the change in my body size (I still don't see it when I look at myself in the mirror), but I'm sad that I didn't do anything when the weight first started creeping up.

I've bought a few new spring pieces this week...10s and 12s instead of 16s...it is such a strange feeling.

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/03/2025 19:37

Happy Saturday all! I have hit a couple of milestones all at once - 4 1/2stone off, overweight rather than obese and next one is just 2lb to go to get down into the next stone. Having said all that I've had such explosive bowels today I may be almost there. (Sorry for TMI!)
MJ is so fickle, I was starving hungry yesterday then have been freezing cold, queasy and upset tum today

I need to find some new recipes too as I'm falling into a rut of chicken thighs and oven roast veg. I don't know if others are the same but I have always loved food shopping and cooking as well as eating. I feel as though MJ, in taking the edge off my appetite has taken the shine off planning and cooking food so I have lost inspiration
Someone suggested steamfresh bags of vegetables recently and it was an excellent suggestion, great way to add more veg. Thank you to whoever that was!

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/03/2025 19:51

A few more meal suggestions.

DD and DH really like lasagna so when making that I hold back some of the meat in red sauce then use it to stuff huge portobello mushrooms or hollowed out peppers and bake them at the same time as the lasagna. Similarly when doing spaghetti bolognaise or meatballs I cook up a load of greenbeans, I particularly like them roasted with garlic, sea salt and olive oil and have that instead of the pasta.

Fajitas for DH and DD, I just have without the tortillas and double up on the onion and peppers.

Spicy scrambled egg with chilli, red onion, red peppers and a sprinkle of hot sauce.

dimples76 · 29/03/2025 20:15

Well done on all the incredible losses. I decided to skip a weight in this week as I had my period and a heavy cold and I think that a disappointing weigh in would bring me down. I did however, go down the water slide x5 with DD today.

I try to make meals that my kids will eat too. So I make a bolognese sauce and have it on a bed of cabbage or lettuce whilst my DC have spaghetti. I am also a big fan of tray bakes so roasted veg with chicken thighs or salmon are common. I also do stir frys but dish mine out before adding noodles for the kids. I also enjoy shakshuka if you want to stick with eggs.

When I have no time to cook I have frozen bubble & sqeak from M&S with poached eggs or mozzarella avocado and tomato salad or Greek salad. I have also stocked my freezer with M&S Count on us spinach and ricotta cannelloni as I enjoy that and if only has 360 calories.

I have been trying to avoid bread but indulged a bit too much today and my body is letting me know that it is not happy. Tomorrow I am making brunch for my Mum, sisters and their families. I am trying to remember that the main pleasure will need to come from watching them enjoy my cooking. To be fair when I am hosting I don't normally overindulge as I am too busy

alltablenochairs · 29/03/2025 21:54

With regards to the meals, I've been buying gousto boxes for a while now and getting them delivered on a Sunday to deliberately avoid yodel. A 3 person box does dh, the 11 year old, the 15 year old (who's VERY sporty and has a limitless appetite) and me, mainly because the portions are huge and my appetite isn't. Pricy, yes but I have no energy or inclination to be wanting to sort meals each night and most of the stuff isn't that crap-tastic either.

Another quick n easy family favourite is pasta bake. 1 bag frozen chargrilled veg mix, 2 tins tomatoes, tablespoon stock powder, decent shake dried herbs and a few handfuls dried pasta. Stick the lot still frozen/dried in a oven dish, pour the tomatoes over it, half fill each can with hot water and some stock powder, pour over the pasta bake, top with foil and stick in a 200 degree oven. Stir after about 20 mins and put back in the oven. After a further 20 mins, remove foil, top with cheese and bake till cheese is melted to liking.

I’ve been following you guys along for the journey since June 2024, but I’m going to have to break for a while now, anyway.
SW 18st 6lbs
CW 12st 5lbs
On Tuesday this week I suffered a burst aneurysm which caused a subdural hematoma. I had surgery for it on Wednesday and thankfully I am recovering well so far. But still in I intensive care.
I will be speaking with as many medical professionals I can about whether or not I can take Mounjaro at some point again. I’ve just tipped into an overweight BMI instead of obese and would love to be able to continue losing my final two stone if I can.
Good luck to you all. I will continue to read your updates.

alltablenochairs · 29/03/2025 22:01

Tomorrow's meal is one the kids have nicknamed 'up yer bum chicken'. Firm favourite in this house.

1 whole chicken
1 coke can size can half filled with cider/beer/stock
Bag salad potatoes
Powder seasoning of choice (probs be peri peri cos that's what I have the most of)
Spray oil
Giant plastic bag or mixing bowl
Oven to 200 degrees.

Stick the chicken in the bag and add the seasoning. You need more than you think to make sure every part of the chicken is coated.
Take your chicken and upend it on the can (can you guess why it's called up yer bum chicken!). Jam the chicken firmly onto the can, put upended chicken in a deep roasting dish, put potatoes around the chicken and spray with oil.
Put in oven for about 90 mins or so and then serve. We usually have this with a salad.

Oh no, this sounds absolutely horrific. Sending you all my love, best wishes and get better soon vibes.

dimples76 · 29/03/2025 22:22

@Snozzlemaid congratulations on your weight loss and I hope that you make a speedy recovery.

Snozzlemaid · 29/03/2025 22:35

Thank you @alltablenochairsand @dimples76
I’ve felt much better placed to face this recovery than if I’d had to face it physically it a year ago. Though if I’m completely honest with myself I probably did the damage ages ago when so obese.
But I know you will all understand and I won’t get shamed for it here.
Here’s to continued development of these medications.

In South Africa there is a special beer can chicken holder for the braai!

we can braai 2 whole chickens on this thing

beer can chicken is yummy! 😋

@Snozzlemaid Get well soon, best wishes for a quick recovery x

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2025 23:19

Hi @SnozzlemaidI remember you from the JUNE 24 thread, it was the same month I started. Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time, must be scary. You are absolutely right, you will be reaping the benefits of all your hard work over the last 9 months during your recovery.

Well done on your amazing weightloss so far! 💗

SqueakyDinosaur · 29/03/2025 23:21

Oh @Snozzlemaid I do hope you recover quickly - that sounds very scary. But as you say, you are definitely in better shape to deal with it now than you would have been.

I'm trying to schedule some fairly major surgery, and one of the surgeons involved says I absolutely have to stop MJ for at least 2 weeks before and after. The other says it's fine to carry on. A bit torn. I'm sharply reducing the next couple of doses and TBH dreading it.

I make it in the slow cooker- just chicken breasts with enough water to cover them with a chicken stock cube thrown in for 2-3 hours. Ready when it's falling apart, lift out of the water & shred with forks. A little butter stirred through while it's warm keeps it more moist when cold.
My favourite is to have it with homemade garlic basil pesto stirred through but you can do anything with it really. I make it plain so everyone can add what they like.
Stays good in the fridge for several days & freezes really well too.

Also good to drop into soups!

Arglefraster · 29/03/2025 23:44

Oh no @SnozzlemaidI'm so sorry you're going through that. I hope your recovery goes amazingly well 💐
