You planning to replace your sofa with a hammock @MooBaggage I’m not against the idea, I’m seriously considering buying a second one for my front garden, they can’t be in both places at once so I can retreat to whatever side they’re not on.

This evening I have scrubbed, buffed and gradual tanned all of the inches of my body. I am shiny I’m so scrubbed up. Not sure it’s worth doing given I’m soaking in chlorinated water 3 times a week, but I have a proper English complexion, which means I go pink, then red, then peel, then white so my only hopes of a tan will be from a bottle and I’m not quite ready to give up hope. On the plus side, I feel like I finally have legs worth wearing shorts this summer, as long as they cover the unfortunately saggy wrinkly upper thigh bit but we can pretend that bit doesn’t exist.

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/03/2025 23:39

I force myself to drink water @alltablenochairsi really notice a slow down in weight loss if I don’t have at least 1.5lts a day, so I’ve built it into my routine, I keep 500ml bottles in the fridge flavoured with a bit of sugar free squash because I hate it plain. I have one as soon as I wake up, just try to drink it down between waking up and getting DD out the door. Then on my morning break I take my daily collection of meds and vitamins and drink another bottle. Then I have one with lunch and another with dinner. That way I know I’ve had 2 lts and it has become habit. Anything else I drink during the day is a bonus, another bonus is the extra steps I accumulate running to the toilet all day.

@InfoSecInTheCity I'm afraid I don't envy you the hammock as I'm one of those ungainly people that climbs in one side and instantly falls out of the other. There's no chance I could ever relax in one, I think lying rigid and terrified would be the best I could aspire to.
I do sympathise with the woe of your invaded territory though as I persuaded DH to build a "summerhouse" thingy at the bottom of the garden and then promptly claimed it as mine. Unfortunately my little granddaughters have now spotted it so I need to plan a defence. Luckily they visit but don't live here

Arglefraster · 29/03/2025 02:30

fair winds & following seas @RobinEllacotStrike
(& something special to ward off the evil that is LAX 😬)

I want photos of moo's hammock on the first floor balcony 😁 i can't stand hammocks, I get motion sick for hours after but I'm very sorry you've "lost" yours info is there a way you can reclaim? Find a shinier version to distract them with??

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 29/03/2025 05:21

I’m another Kentish Lass - can’t see France from here though!

Good luck on your travels @RobinEllacotStrike - drink plenty of water. I find travelling on planes etc is very dehydrating.

I’m off to see The Mousetrap today in London. I saw CATS when I was 18 and I vowed off theatre ever since.. but as this is a play and not a musical I’m hoping it will be ok. I’m nearly 3 stone down and fingers crossed my fat arse will fit in the seat 😬

dimples76 · 29/03/2025 07:25

Safe travels @RobinEllacotStrike.

I have also saved the hammock link as a potential birthday present for me. In the past as a clumsy clot I have ruled them out but I do like the idea and I know DC would too.

Time to face another fear today. I am taking the DC to a SEND swimming session. We go to this place once/twice a month. It has 2 watersides that DS loves bit DD hasn't been on as under 8s have to go with an adult and so far I have said no. So I have decided today is the day!

Carolwithane · 29/03/2025 07:34

I'm also in Scotland 🙋‍♀️

Another week of just a wee lb *sigh BUT 20lbs down since 14th January so not too shabby. I'll keep going and hope for a slightly better result next week

Might be tough have dinner out for good friends 50th tonight, DH birthday today and Mothers Day tomorrow. Ach well, I'll dae ma best!

Have a great week all

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/03/2025 08:17

Have the best time @RobinEllacotStrike safe travels! Biggest immediate concern is avoiding that dam constipation from planes ✈️ altitude….. hydrate hydrate hydrate and maybe sneak emergency laxatives as I suspect on MJ this would be worst? Good luck!

I’m a Welshie 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 living in England

After the difficult start to my week, felt suppression been much better 2nd half which is strange. A sneaky day early weigh it looks like a loss and just nudged into the 18 stone category (120 kg)… but I take my official weigh in number tomorrow.

i have no such fancy scales to indulge me on my metabolic age but my gym scales put my bio age 64, that’s 20 years older than I am. 😫 and so decided never to look on there again.

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 29/03/2025 08:32

I have just "done a thing" as my kids might say.....26 weeks done and hit exactly 5 stone loss! I was so convinced it wouldn't work for me so put off starting in case it didn't but so glad I did! 5 weeks on 2.5, 5 on 5.5 and the rest on 7.5 so far as seems to be working well for me.

S/w= 18st 7lb
C/w= 13st 7lb
G/w= need another 1.5 stone to get out the obese range (!) And then will see 1/2 stone at a time I think.

Difference being now, I know I can do it :)

NewbieMJ · 29/03/2025 08:50

Have the best time @RobinEllacotStrike Sounds like you have a plan in place and if there are obstacles to overcome, you will be on it!

Congratulations @Iwanttoputmytreeup - that is incredible! The wonderful thing about MJ (among many things) is the hope. Genuine, real hope which is a world of difference from all our previous (unsuccessful) attempts!

My scales say 57. I am 54. Hmmmph.

My view is the Pentland Firth & North Sea looking onto the Orkney Isles, so very much at the opposite end of the country to you lovelies on the south coast. A clear day with blue skies, I can see 3 boats/ferries as I type, but likely baltic😂...and a hammock unlikely to last any time, unless it was indoors too @MooBaggage 😍

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/03/2025 08:54

@Iwanttoputmytreeup 5 stone!!!!
that is just so amazing!
Had a low this week but seriously… 26weeks… just over 6 months!!!! That’s no time at all!
Gives me hope that in 6 months I can erase nearly 2 decades of obesity!
I am week 12 next week and have managed 2.5 stone off to now but know loss will slow so don’t expect the 5 stone mark in the next 12-14 weeks but hopefully not tooo far so it’s in site! So for me, end of the summer/September maybe!!! That’s would be so awesome!!!

I can see my total journey will take over a year though and then some for maintenance too.

well done you!
It appears you went to 7.5 quiet early in your journey, was it because of suppression?
was there a point you noticed weight loss slowed?

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/03/2025 09:00

Agree @NewbieMJ, you said it there. Hope!
That is a driving motivation that I must hang on to in darker times and this group with genuine lovely people, who understand and ‘been there’ experience who celebrate their successes really helps lift me. It’s the hope I want to be addicted to rather than my ultimate feeling of hopelessness which has seen me shrivel and avoiding bothering to try from previous failures.

Thank you ladies!

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 29/03/2025 09:08

@Reginaphalangeeeee Thank you! I think I have been partly really lucky to be honest. Definitely have probably 3.5 decades of weight to lose, but intend to he heading into my 50s soon in a much better place!

Just checked and helped that I lost 18lbs on the first 2.5 pen but was an absolute change of diet. No real side effects so used the bonus dose and went up to 5 when they suggested really with the next pen. Same at the end of 5 doses -felt ok so tried the 7.5 when they said time to reorder. Having began to trust it actually worked, and getting around 2lb a week, decided would stay on 7.5 until as and when it doesn't work. But still get good suppression, have been out for meals and still enjoyed them, just chose wisely and definitely not eaten as much. Still get variation across weeks and sometimes no loss , but seems to be working at the moment. Good luck to you and happy travels @RobinEllacotStrike

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/03/2025 09:11

Thanks for all the well wishes wonderful women.

Baggage limit 23kg. My bag was 22.9kg. I’ve never been prouder ✈️ 🥝 👋🏼

i have @InfoSecInTheCity s hammock but I’ve not assembled it yet. Just to prove I don’t buy everything you lot recommend I haven’t bought new shokt headphones (yet).

My bag is loaded with double water & I had 🥝🥝 and pomegranate for breakfast on way to airport. Post Long haul flight constipation is notorious.

MJ easy through security in one of those little insulin travel pouches with little ice packs.

Congrats @RobinEllacotStrike

Saturday Weigh day for me!

This week I lost 1.2lbs, bringing my weight to 14st 10.3lbs. 3.3lbs to my next goal, and 6.4lbs to get to One-derland!

Things of note:

  • someone called me tiny this week. I mean, I objectively am NOT, but it was still nice hahahaha
  • the drop between dress sizes is a bit slower now. I have a trip in 8 weeks and a few months ago I was sure I would be a 14-16 by then but I will not be. Which is of course, fine, because I look so much better and I am losing weight consistently.
  • but on the dress size note, I have been hunting for an event dress for that trip, and i’m worrying about things not fitting right for it 😂😂 i ordered one in a size 16 and 18, and the 16 is a no go and likely won’t be at all, but the 18 seems good. I am holding on to it for a full month to see if it keeps fitting and deciding if i need to reorder by then to ensure i have a returnable item 😂😂
  • i need a whole wardrobe too!! I’ve been existing on about 15 items total, but nothing summery and I will be going somewhere where temps should be early to mid 20s and have at least three formal events! Trying to figure out a capsule that will see me through 11 days so I don’t have to buy too many things!
  • my fat has gotten squishier again. It started back last year, a few weeks after MJ really kicking in, but everything seems softer again, and not loose skin either.
alwaysscared · 29/03/2025 10:37

Has anyone got any easy dinner ideas? I have been having avocado and egg on toast most nights for months now and I want to try other things but am terrified of it causing me side effects. I think I could do a lower calorie dinner but I’m just stuck on what to have. I tried omelette but these made me feel rough. TIA
I have OCD so changing what I eat is going to be hard but the weight is just not shifting anymore so I need to try. My avocado on toast meal is 430 cals (2 slices wholemeal toast, half an avocado and one boiled egg)

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/03/2025 10:58

@alwaysscaredi tend towards the meat and 2 veg style of meal for simplicity and protein.

Chicken breast or pork loin steak, some sort of seasoning/dry rub and then cooked how you like it, served with roasted broccoli/cauliflower, stir fried babycorn/sugarsnap peas, steamed greenbeans, pan fried asparagus etc.

My other failsafe is slow cooker grub. I pick a pack of meat, whatever they have available in 500g packs that’s suitable for low and slow cooking (beef shin, pork shoulder steaks, braising steak…) then put it in the slow cooker with a tin of tomatoes, pack of pre-prepared baby carrots, 2 packs of pre-sliced mushrooms and a pack of pre-sliced red onion (I am lazy and hate cooking). Add a pack of whatever seasoning mix I have in the house and then leave it to sort itself out for 6-8 hours. Split into 4 portions, it’s about 300 calories a portion depending on the meat.

Using lots of veg means you get fibre, nutrients, vitamins and then the meat gives you the protein. I’ve had no gastric issues but do have a cast iron stomach so not the best comparator. I’m that person who eats the same food as everyone else, they all get food poisoning and I’m fine just a bit hungry.

I have incredibly easy and trashy meals - also focussing on protein and veg because I've gone off carbs completely.

  1. Boneless, skinless chicken thighs cooked for about 25 mins in soy sauce and honey. I do a load and save lots for lunches. Serve on a ton of spinach, with blobs of greek yoghurt and add cherry toms if I have any in.
  1. Extra trashy freezer tea - some chicken nuggets - 10 mins in the air fryer - serve as above.
  1. Frozen cooked King Prawns - put a handful in hot water for a few mins to defrost them and serve as above.
  1. Beef strips - fry a few in soy sauce/whatever you've got - and serve as above.

Are you sensing a pattern?! I just CBA and need anything I cook to take no longer than 20 mins and preferably under 10 😁

Fantastic!! I'm also getting squishy fat now - but still no collar bones, which you lot promised but are not in existence yet 🙄😀

I've got rid of a bin bag full of clothes and am surviving on a few Vinted bits recently bought. I also have a few things are a slightly too small (bought optimistically!) but I reckon all should be wearable over the summer 😊

mince3point14159265 · 29/03/2025 12:27

Another lurker crawling out of the woodwork! Just wanted to say how inspirational you all have been for me over the last few months. Thank you, you are all amazing! 💐

At the beginning I was scared it wouldn't work for me, scared of admitting to myself how much I actually needed to lose, scared of possible side effects and what my DH's reaction to that might be. However I have been one of the lucky ones with minimal side effects and feel so much better for having lost a chunk of weight. My starting weight was 15.13.0 and I'm currently at 13.5.0. Hoping for a GW of 10st which would just put me in healthy range. Did 5 weeks at 2.5mg, 5 weeks at 5mg and have just done my 4th 7.5mg, which seems to be fine for me so plan on sticking with for at least another month.

Hope that my couple of years living in Scotland as a child gets me a fast pass access to this thread! 😂

😁 bf's garden or just out a window it is then Moo!

I was just thinking how squishy my fat has gone again. Tops of thighs & (lower 🙄) belly in particular. I really hate the sensation- like it's moving around me.

Hi @mince3point14159265they're an inspiring lot aren't they? I reckon you're most of the way to Scottish residency with mince in your user name!
