@roughtyping the pen is limited by the number of turns that you do in total, rather than the number of injections. A full dose is 60 turns, or clicks, so 4 doses would mean using 60 * 4 = 240 clicks, plus there are a few extra for priming the pen each time.

Doing 4 lots of partial doses, say 45 clicks instead of 60, would only use 45 * 4 = 180, leaving you with 60 clicks remaining. So you could do another partial 45 click dose, or a full 60 click dose if you wanted to.

roughtyping · 28/03/2025 13:54

@SilenceInsidethank you for explaining! Really useful to know 😊

Little bit of a brag here but my scales say my metabolic age is 39, I’m 41 so feeling quite chuffed about that 😆

Just to add to the geography bits of the chat, I’m also not Scots based, I’m in the East Mids area.

🙉🙉🙉🙉 Not listening!

Seriously though, well done! - I'd be bragging too if it was me!

Wonder if I am entitled to a metabolic free bus pass or get my metabolic state pension earlier! 🤔🤣

I am another in Scotland!

If you got a higher dose pen eg 5mg but only wanted to take eg 3mg, does the pen allow you to do more than 4 injections or will it stop you at 4?

Ah use 45 clicks fae ma 5mg pen, gettin’ 5 doses of 3.75mg afore the pen spits the dummy and locks itsel’ (counted the last couple and they tap oot aroond 257ish clicks).

But haud on—there’s mair! Ah even squeeze oot a cheeky 6th dose wi’ a syringe. That means doses on days 0,7,14,21,28,35—aye, that’s five days past the "official" 30-day chuck-it rule.

Noo, it’s up tae you tae decide if the risks outweigh yer deep-rooted Scottish stinginess! 🤣

Ah’m pure howlin’ at the very heavy (see whit ah did there? 😆) Scottish presence on this thread. But let’s be honest—we’re no exactly runnin’ on kale an’ quinoa up here. Years o’ warm, comforting deep-fried everything huv definitely left their mark! 🤣

(I might have used ChaGPT to help with that 🙈)

🤣
I'm another Scot in Scotland but I always think MN is quite Scot heavy in general (& I have assumed this was observer bias!)

I swear at my scales at the age bit, says I'm 54 when I'm 47 - in the time I've dropped 5 BMI points it went up a year!!! (on my birthday)

Right I am flying to NZ for 3 weeks tomorrow moring. There will be huge challenges ahead food wise:

  • Family food stuff/issues/history (almost my whole family are obese) appears everywhere - IYKYK
  • Carbs will be everywhere - pies, cakes, filled rolls, chips, ice cream etc etcetc will be offered to me repeatedly
  • Little control over food prep etc - I will where I can but who knows how this will pan out
  • Travelling door to door will be 38 hours - due in part to unfortunate flight time change and now 6 hour lay over in LA. That's nearly 2 days on plane & airport food.
  • I will be shopping for pomegranates, nuts, greek yoghurt, 🥝🥝 enroute from airport to sisters place (first stop)
  • its always very emotional / mixed emotions going home. This has always been a trigger to eat. I'm on alert.
  • I'm taking tomorrows dose a day early before we leave for airport. Taking new pen with me in hand luggage.
  • Alcohol consumption will absolutely be up

on the plus side I will be more active for these weeks, swimming, walking, hiking etc. and my tree top canopy tour challenge. And its pomegranate season in NZ as well as kiwi, passion fruit, tamarillo, fejoa, avocado etc so I will be enoying those. Food is more sesonal there and in high season fruit is fresh, cheap and bountiful.

I will focus on hydration.

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/03/2025 14:43

I'm not in Scotland - I'm on south Kent coast and I can see France

WeAllHaveWings · 28/03/2025 14:44

I have my "weight verification" video call with Oushk later today so just killing time until then.........finished work for the day and should go for a walk instead, but feels cold outside. 🙈

This is their response to the new prescribing guidelines and everyone needs to do it at least once so they are working their way through all existing patients.

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/03/2025 14:44

My scales say I am 60.
I am 57
😮😤

gimmemounjaro · 28/03/2025 14:48

Not Scotland but Wales here, so joining in a vague Celtic contingent (assuming Queen of Hiraeth might also be in Wales..)
And currently en route to family in E Mids.
Sorry to hear about your sassy scales @WeAllHaveWings🫣
I think my premature aging is down to my BMR which is terrible, but improving very slowly.

AnneinEdinburgh · 28/03/2025 14:56

English in Scotland here (duh my user name says it all)!

I survived my inaugural gym visit, helped by the lovely woman of a certain age who did my intro and was very impressed with my 3 stone weight loss. It wasn't that scary. Only 2 hideously grunting men!

I was just pondering the lack of Welsh here, and wondering if they were perhaps a healthier bunch than the rest of us and then as if by magic one appears! 🤣

dimples76 · 28/03/2025 15:07

I am in NE England.

I had a great session with my PT today - I managed to push more than my current body weight on the weighted sled. I think that J might feel it a lot later

WeAllHaveWings · 28/03/2025 15:27

Well that's my weight verification call with Oushk completed. Took just 1 minute and done!

MontyJinks · 28/03/2025 15:37

I'm in Wales too 🙋

Currently en route to visit and stay with in-laws in West Midlands, where I will absolutely need to self medicate with a few gins 🙈

My scales say 56, I'm only 50. Bloody scales 🙄

You've totally got this... Keep eating the kiwis (wish I could do the graphic!) and focus on the healthy stuff - you're in the flow and know what you need to keep doing - I have faith!

Will you be telling your family? Asking because I'm due to go away with some of mine in June and I'm already wondering what to do about storing the pen in the fridge!

Hope you have an amazing time! 😊✈

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/03/2025 15:54

@MooBaggage once you’ve started a pen it doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge just somewhere below 30degrees. You can get insulin pen cases which have a thermal layer like a cool bag if you are worried about heat.

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/03/2025 15:58

Well done on the gym visit @AnneinEdinburgh I’m an eyes down, music up, gym user, try very hard not to look at anyone or make eye contact, just go in, do my thing and leave.

Did day 2 of couch 2 5k on the treadmill today, covered 3km in distance according to my watch and managed all the jog sections. Actually a bit amazed as tried it a few years ago and I just could not manage a full minute of jogging, I felt like my lungs would give up and my knees would shatter, but it was fine, I think I could probably have pushed myself harder but want to stick to the programme and do it properly.

Darlinghag · 28/03/2025 16:45

Hang on, add me to the Welsh contingent please!! 😂😂

@RobinEllacotStrike safe travels, Robin!! I hope that things go well for you and you enjoy even with the challenges!!

I will be doing my first abroad trip in a few weeks and slightly nervous about how it and MJ will meld together!

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/03/2025 19:00

Have a fab time in NZ @RobinEllacotStrikei don’t envy you the long flights but it sounds like you have some good fun stuff planned.

I have a horrifying tale of woe to recount I’m afraid. Due to the recent increase in sun my DD and her friends have been spending more time playing outside and they have discovered my oasis of calm in the back garden. They’ve done gone stolen my spot goddamit! Every time I want to go hammock there’s a gaggle of random girls already out there squealing, giggling, gossiping and swinging in MY HAMMOCK!!!

QueenOfHiraeth · 28/03/2025 21:41

@RobinEllacotStrike Have a wonderful time. I think it sounds like there may be some sticky patches but you've got this!

Outrageous!! I've got the hammock link saved as I might also order one - and I live in a first floor flat without a garden...! 😁

alltablenochairs · 28/03/2025 23:31

Ooooooh, hammocks are surprisingly comfortable. Been many years since I have used one though. I'm so not jealous of your weather being nice enough to hammock in either.

Has anyone found that since starting MJ the amount of fluid they are drinking has lessened a lot. I've been keeping an eye on it over the past few days and some days I've had less than 800ml. I don't do hot drinks so this is all cold drinks, mainly water and the occasional can of caffeine free diet coke. So tomorrow I'm going to try harder to drink more. Thankfully the kids (and DH who's just a big kid really) love jelly so that's another way of getting more fluids in.
