Did you get any side effects on 5ml? I'm a bit afraid as I had horrible side effects with my first 2.5 jab. Nothing with the second.. but I heard awful stories about the 5ml being particularly bad for side effects. I had been hoping to stay in 2.5... but I want this to work so will move up if necessary!

I had a rough first few days when I moved up to 5mg - very nauseous, with bad headaches at night and couldn't eat much at all for most of the first week. Weirdly, I also didn't lose any weight in that first week to 10 days - I think my body was in shock! But it had settled by the end of the 2nd week on 5mg and I'm losing a steady 2 to 2.5lbs a week now and feeling good. The food suppression (for me) is very high - I really have to make myself eat sometimes, but I'm drinking lots of water, doing hand weight stuff, walking as much as possible and having fruit smoothies and protein drinks as a bare minimum on the rough days.

I think I'll stick to 5mg for another month if the next couple of weeks continue to go OK - no point moving up for the sake of it. But if you think the 2.5mg has started to fade and the food noise is back and suppression isn't as good, definitely move up and hopefully any side effects will be short lived and settle down.

Darlinghag · 18/03/2025 10:30

@Thisshirtisonfire My side effects moving doses have been pretty consistent - a mild headache initially and a hint of nausea that wore off fairly quicky with water and food. I did do one dose of 3.75mg between 2.5 and 5 though.

I do not consider myself a super responder and I personally have a theory that those who are not, also have lower side effects, but it is just an uneducated theory!!

I think you can wrap yourself up in horror stories but the reality is, every experience is unique.

Carolwithane · 18/03/2025 11:24

I also had the fear moving up to 5 after 8 weeks on 2.5. I injected 3.75 on Sunday night and so far minimal side effects. Very slight headache, bit tired and slightly strange jumpy feeling in my stomach yesterday. Absolutely fine today tho. I'll probably do 5 weeks of 3.75 depending on how suppression is and then maybe 5

Hello! I started at exactly the same weight as you - 20 stone 3lbs - but only in mid-Jan, so I've still got a looooong way to go..! But am 22lbs down so far and feeling so much better about myself. Can't wait to get through the next few months and really see and feel a difference 😊

We are weight twins!
You are doing really well and doesnt it feel so much better to be out of the 20s!
I think I am about 46% of my way to goal (according to my renpho scales or was it the shotsy app?), it seemed almost impossible at the beginning to think I had to lose over 8st but now 7 months later with about 4-5 stone to go I am starting to believe I might actually get there!
I still cant see any difference in myself despite now being able to wear a size 20 instead of 24/26/28. Thankfully I have measured and taken photos from the start, I just need my brain to catch up and start to accept my new look.
I think once I get to mid 15st I will start to notice more and feel better about things, as that was what I weighed in 2014 so I think I need to get past that number to feel like I have really lost proper weight, I am not sure any of that ramble makes sense...🤔😊

Self care is very tricky, isn't it?

I have a massage once a month - have done for years and always regret it when I stop them (mainly due to finances, but sometimes if I'm feeling down, I'll stupidly stop having them, which then makes me feel worse...). I don't do anything else in terms of body/hair/nails, so it's my one treat to my poor body!

I also give myself permission to flomp down and watch trash TV in the evenings, which I firmly believe is an important part of self-care 😀 If I haven't done much walking or hand weights in the day though, I do hand weights exercises whilst watching at least one programme 😇😃

hellohellooo · 18/03/2025 18:35

Sounds great

I have only ever had one massage

Dying to get another

In fact I may do a spa day at Easter

Sod it !!!!!

I’d love to hear how you got on on your first weeks? I’m on day five. Going to weigh in on Thursday. Have not been weighing each day as I’ll obsess (even more!) about it. Would love a good loss but don’t want to get my hopes up…

Everybody is different and this medication is fickle!

I lost 4.5lb in my first week but know others who lost a lot more and some who lost less. The one thing we have all had to learn is that weight loss is not linear and not to compare our progress with others.
Good luck with it!

First month I lost nothing g

Now 5 months on and over 4 stone down

SilenceInside · 18/03/2025 20:17

@LoubydooI agree that it’s very variable. I had immediate appetite suppression and found it very hard to eat at all initially. I also think I had a lot of inflammation and water retention. I went from eating UPF junk with lots of salt, fats and carbs to small amounts of protein and veg. It had a big impact and I lost a lot of weight in the first few weeks. It’s gradually settled down to a steady level of 2 pounds or so a week now, after the initial rapid weight loss. The suppression is now manageable and more level throughout the week.

I’m in your situation - going from upfs/ high carb and fat. I hope to get to the point where I can get a steady loss.

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/03/2025 21:00

I’ve definitely found it easier to stick to high protein and lots of veg with Mounjaro, I no longer crave carbs at all and find it much easier to just have a bite of something and then say, that’s enough, I had a taste to satisfy the desire but I don’t actually need a whole heap of roast potatoes, or slice of cake, just a little was enough. It’s very very weird.

i also have no issue with just sitting and having a cup of coffee at a fast food place while DH and DD have burgers or pizza or whatever, I’m perfectly content just sitting and enjoying their company while I sip on my skinny latte.

Tried out the new scales for the first time this morning, and happy to report they haven’t bumped my weight up which I was dreading a little. Will keep weighing daily and testing them out ready for official weigh in day next Monday when hopefully I’ll be a step or two closer to leaving the 160’s. I might (fingers crossed) hit 4 stone lost in the next few days too.

2.5mg was rubbish for me, I lost 4lbs in my first four weeks 😤

Very frustrating when others were posting with huge losses. But everything kicked off when I went up to 5mg, and I lost 13lbs that month. So don’t worry if it appears not to be working at first. The plus side is I have been lucky with side effects, basically none until I got to 12.5mg, when I felt a bit odd, so went back to 10mg.

Hi Loubydoo,
I was ok whilst on 2.5mg, my only side effects were a dry mouth, mild nausea and burping.
However, things werent so great when I went up to 5mg despite doing 3.75mg as a step up. I began suffering with what I can only describe as a complete flattening of my mood and emotions, no highs no lows just nothing at all. So I dropped back to 3.75mg after 2 wks and have only now reached the heady heights of 4.5mg!
On the plus side, MJ turned off all food noise and cravings instantly and neither have returned. I have also had good suppression whilst being able to eat a full meal most days.
I know I would not still be here, still losing weight 31wks later with no desire to stop wiithout MJ.
Peri-menopause really tried to destroy me despite my HRT doing its best to save me, it was MJs effect on my brain, that has been nothing short magic!
I am so glad I decided to give it a go.
I hope it works well for you 😊

I found that it worked pretty quick, I did 2,5mg for the first 4 weeks, then moved up to 5mg which I stayed on for 20 weeks. Have done 4 weeks of 7.5mg and will start 10mg this week. I am prescribed by NHS for Diabetes and they don’t like you staying on the x.5 doses, just using them to transition up to the next ‘real’ dose.

i am pretty consistently 1-2 lb loss a week, with a slightly higher loss week 1.

Oh and never had any side effects except being freeing cold all the time. I’m like a lizard now and bask in the sun whenever it deigns to shine in an effort to heat up my bones.

Started quickly for me but being bed bound with covid the whole week and not eating might have "helped"! 🤣 I don't recommend that approach!

As many others have said, everyone is individual. If you don't start losing weight straight off the starting block, although it will obviously be both disappointing and disheartening, try to remember it is normal for many people to not lose weight until into the higher doses. It is a long journey when we all have >5st to lose and we will all take it at different speeds along the way.

Love the similarities between our spreadsheets @InfoSecInTheCitywith some slight traffic light colour differences for BMI, my conditional formatting will also go a shade of amber when I reach "overweight". Because I started with such a high BMI I choose black to represent mobidly obese "death", a sick sense of humour, but motivated me I had to get out of the black!

Can I ask how you get just a 3.75 dose from a 5 pen? I took my last two doses of 2.5 together because I felt ready to move up but fuck was I sick yesterday!

SqueakyDinosaur · 19/03/2025 12:52

You count clicks. 60 clicks of any strength of pen delivers one dose at that strength, so for 3.75 you either need 90 clicks of a 2.5mg pen, or 45 clicks of a 5mg pen.

(because 3.75 is 150% of 2.5, and 75% of 5)

A full extension of the dose knob from 0 to 1 is 60 clicks.

3.75mg from a 5mg pen is 45 clicks.

If you are going to do this a good tip is to mark the 45 click point with a ball point pen first time so easier to find next time without counting. Each turn of the dose knob (where the 0 appears below the window) is 20 clicks, so 45 clicks is two turns then 5 clicks until you see your mark again. Try this and you will see what I mean (it is simpler than I make it sound!)

You will get 5 doses of 3.75mg / 45 clicks from the pen before it locks.

There will be enough liquid for a 6th dose using a syringe on day 35. I do that as I am personally ok with 5 days over the 30 day limit, I would not do further than 35 days/6th dose. You need to do your own risk assessment on that one.

Dear Losers an unprecedented miracle has occurred. I am delirious with joy and feeling very very special. Chosen even.

I had to buy a new bra but I couldn’t be arsed. Put it off. Running out of time as we leave for 3 week holiday next week. So I took new measurements & ordered 2 bras online (same style different colours) from M&S. never had this style before but thought they looked just what I was looking for.

Losers - I cannot believe this but THEY FIT!!!! They fit, they are comfortable, tits are up.

I didn’t have to try on one hundred ill fitting bras.

I am off to buy a lottery ticket.

same here. I'm a frozen sun seeking GLP1 loving lizard (did you know about the GLP1 lizard that eats twice a year and inspired the development of human GLP1 medication?).

I used to fluctuate between freezing and steaming/sweating/hot flash but now the HRT has kicked in I'm just cold.

RobinEllacotStrike · 19/03/2025 14:44

I made DD a fried egg sandwich this morning and she left without eating it. I was very hungry and thought I would sit in the morning sun (lovely day here) and eat her sandwich for breakfast.

I had one bite and that was it - the bread was just so very unappealing. I just didn't want to have anymore bread. It used to have such a hold on me.

I ate the egg, and gave the bread to the seagulls.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/03/2025 15:16

@RobinEllacotStrike Well done with the measuring. I had around £1,000 worth of bras travelling back and forth to Bravissimo trying to find ones to fit. Started as a 40J - measured as a 38GG or H, ordered a load in both sizes and styles to try (wired and non-wired), they were not tight enough on band/on the tightest hooks already returned and ordered 36GG to eventually get some that fitted!

I now have 4 bras that fit and credit card is breathing a sigh of relief now the refunds are through!
