Plodders Club 🐌

Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

I just took my last 2.5 dose and have ordered the 5mg. I dithered a bit about moving up because I haven't been very hungry and have managed to choose healthy options when I eat, but I was afraid that I would be halfway through next month and suddenly starving. I am down about 5/6 pounds after 3 weeks and am very pleased with that as I am definitely a plodder. I would love to lose a half stone a month but i will be happy as long as it is going down.

MrsDaveGrohl78 · 15/04/2025 18:33

I’m definitely a member of this club! I’ve been on Mounjaro since mid December and have lost a stone and a half… very slow going, usually about 1lb a week. Awful when you see others posting significant losses, but great to know I’m not alone!

PlodAlongPolly · 16/04/2025 20:20

Hi and welcome to the new joiners 👋 and good to catch up with others updates

Forward plodders, we will get there in the end! Some amazing progress updates here with overalls downward trends, lower BMI’s, health benefits and clothes fit 🌟

I think we’re doing really well to stick with this through a slow loss process, it would be easy to get demotivated (and I’ve struggled with this at times) but am in a much more chilled and accepting place now. I think it takes a fair bit of determination to keep going with a long view mindset when visible progress is harder to see (compared to the fast/ big losses). Is encouraging to read your experiences, we do seem to be getting lots of good benefits on WLI particularly re: health! Seeing posters like @Orangesandlemons77 who have come a long way with their bmi is amazing :)

Quick update for me, for the first time since December the scales have finally moved a bit - 1.5 lb off! I am not quite trusting it though and wonder if it will bob bk up again 😂 but there is also change in some of my bigger clothes feeling looser and my biggest baggiest PJ bottoms are v loose now so, something is happening!

Ah glad the Dr adjusted your meds @TuxedoTammy 👍

Keep going everyone, we can do this!

Welcome @MrsDaveGrohl78 you’re definitely not alone! I started MJ a month before you (Nov) and have also lost a stone and a half. It’s why I started this thread, as my losses just weren’t in line with anyone else on other threads and was getting me down. It’s a lovely community here and I hope you find it helpful to know you’re not alone in the slow lane :) 💛 🐌

I have chronic kidney disease stage 2, my kidney function gets tested twice a year and I just got a set of results today, best function I've had since diagnosis! Given my nephrologist said her patients on Mounjaro usually benefit, I'm putting that down as a major plus!
Getting my head back in the game now, I'm 1lb off a new stone, 27.2lb down so far.

That's brilliant news! I didn't realise it can affect kidney function. You must be really pleased.

Fantastic! 👏 What a brilliant health result! Just goes to show it really does have a positive effect beyond weight loss, great stuff :)

In an effort to focus beyond the scales and to make this all much more about my health and wellbeing - I started Pilates today. It’s an NHS beginners programme I found on YouTube and it was really good. I have also started a wellness journal to help me look at the bigger picture.

I’ve lost just over a stone since Christmas, most of it in the last 2 months and I feel much better for it. My diet is so much healthier and exercise is becoming possible again.

All the best with moving up a dose @Deadringer Do you think you’ll go straight to the 5mg or do an intermediate count the clicks dose? I did 3.75 for a few weeks due to side effects but others have gone straight to 5 and been fine.

I think I will go straight to the 5 PlodAlongPolly, if I have side effects I will just reduce the next week. I don't think I got a full dose from my last pen, the plunger got stuck before it was fully deployed, i haven't been thinking about food anyway because I have been in the hospital the last few days with my dd who went in for an emergency op. She is fine thank goodness. I don't think I will lose weight this week, I haven't been over eating but just having whatever was to hand so no idea of calories, my birthday is this weekend so between that and easter I will probably eat a little more than usual. Anyway onwards and upwards (slowly) everyone!

This sounds good, I will have a look - hope it goes well. I used to do pilates at the sports centre but the classes get booked up quickly.

TuxedoTammy · 18/04/2025 20:12

Just a quick check in.

I seem to have been pretty hungry these last few days 🤔 . I even bought some sweets tonight. I do that occasionally but haven’t done so for a while. I’m edging myself up to 10 mg Mournjaro per week now, as I’m not sure the 7.5 mg is being as effective. I didn’t really want to go up a dose unless I had to, but perhaps needs must.

I’d like to be more focused on my health generally - like others here - and start working towards some exercise/fitness goals. I have them in mind and know what I want to do - but other demands seem to have taken priority (again). Next weeks the week 🍀 .

I hope everyone is well. I could sleep the whole weekend the way I feel 😃 .

tryingtobesogood · 19/04/2025 11:53

I have an old set of scales downstairs that we use really for weighing suitcases when we go on holiday. I bought new ones because the old ones seem to be unreliable. Well this morning I thought I I would weigh myself on them out of curiosity , and I was five pounds lighter on those scales than the ones in my bathroom 🤦‍♀️ and this would’ve taken me well into the next Stone bracket.

I would love to take that as a big loss, but of course they would’ve weighed me 5 lb lighter at the beginning anyway. Oh well, onwards and downwards.

I’ve now lost a stone since I started seven weeks ago, slow and steady and getting me to my first target weight in June when I go on holiday. Of course, if I use the other scales I would be 5lb closer. I know I know, I need to let it go.😂

tryingtobesogood · 19/04/2025 11:58

@Orangesandlemons77 these are the classes, they are great if like me you haven’t done Pilates for a long time, as they start quite gently.

Have you tried weighing yourself on them in the same position as the bathroom one? As different flooring affects the weight. The old ones may be so old they are not calibrated. My old ones are 3kg lighter!

tryingtobesogood · 22/04/2025 10:47

I’m going to move the bathroom scales downstairs as I find it too tempting to jump on them every day and that’s driving me crazy. Won’t use the old ones, they are pretty rubbish. I have lost 14lb, and I’m really pleased with that. I’ve taken myself off threads where people complain about only losing a 1lb or two a week, it’s not good for my wellbeing.

how was everyone’s Easter? I definitely ate higher calorie food, generally because I was with family and had had fewer choices. I also had some booze, which I didn’t really feel any effects for. I am away again in a couple of weeks, so need to really focus on eating well and exercising plenty before then. Oh and chocolate made me feel nauseous which was interesting.

TuxedoTammy · 22/04/2025 12:06

Hi everyone,

This is a bit of a cri de couer, so excuse me if I ramble/rant on a bit.

Like you @tryingtobesogood I try to ignore/avoid threads where people complain about losing 1 - 2 pounds a week, or high-5 people for losing a stone a month 😳. I occasionally suggest it might be healthier to lose 1-2 lbs a week but it falls on deaf ears so I‘M not sure it’s worth pointing out anymore; everyone knows this to be true but ignore anyway (obviously slightly different for the very overweight).

Dr Tyna Moore on YouTube is really strict about not losing more than 1 lb a week, because in her mind it means muscle loss, not focusing on real changes (just relying on WLI), and therefore worse metabolism issues down the line. She also believe strongly in exercise, in particular weights. I have learned a lot from her, although occasionally it does get a bit much, so, interesting as some of it is, I’ve stepped back now ….

Amyway, back to me. I didn’t eat that much over Easter but I did indulge my sweet tooth a bit 🧐.

I am finally! starting to incorporate exercise into my life, as now I finally have some free time and focus. I really believe this will make a difference as it just gives a little push to my metabolism - otherwise I am just practically starving myself for no results. I have also decided to experiment with twice a week fasting until evening ; again to give my weight loss a little push without harming general nutrition. I also need to exercise, particularly weights, for my developing osteoarthritis and painful issues with tendons, for which I’ve seen a physiotherapist, all of which can be helped by weights and exercise. I am limited as to how much exercise I can do, because of an immune condition, but I am really going to try and do some as I am in my early 60s and these new problems are becoming painful issues; I will try not to turn into one of those older people who is always talking about their health problems, but that’s the reality!

As far as food is concerned, I’m just going to carry on eating as healthy as reasonably possible and continuing with WLI. I am now on dose 10 mg at week 19; I really want to try and avoid going higher than that if I can. See what happens with my new outlook … I’m rewarding myself with a holiday in Greece in October 🏝️ , anyway. I’m hoping I’ll feel fitter and lighter by then.

@PinkSour good news re your kidney function.

Hope OP is carrying on trucking too.

🙂

tryingtobesogood · 23/04/2025 12:22

I had my annual health review at the GPs yesterday, and I felt so positive about the changes I have made since christmas. It was so good to be able to say I had lost weight, improved my diet, exercised more and generally felt healthier and fitter than I had the year before.

I have moved the scales now, and may even lock them in the shed outside so I can only weight once a week. I get really upset if they do not go down when I think they should, but I know that things are improving, I can fit into so many clothes now that were too tight or looked awful before. I am away the weekend after next and I am confident that I will be able to dust off some nice outfits for it from the back of my wardrobe.

tryingtobesogood · 23/04/2025 12:26

@TuxedoTammy I feel the same about exercise, it's benefits are so far reaching and long term. I'm still not doing as much as perhaps I would if I was 4st lighter, but I am doing more than I was.

Let us know how the fasting goes, I've inadvertently fasted a few times over the last few months, where I have eaten something that has given me horrible side effects and I haven't been able to eat. I have noticed my weight loss was a bit more consistent on those weeks.

TuxedoTammy · 23/04/2025 14:17

Will do @tryingtobesogood . I’m only going to try it evening to evening, so only 20-24 hours max - once or twice a week. I suspect it can make a difference for some of us who find weight hard to shift because of age of limited physical activity. At the same time I am also wary of too much Intermittent Fasting - it has some good factors but can also lead to disordered eating! Yes it’s nice when clothes start to look better; I had a similar moment in M&S yesterday 🙂.

Timmygnome · 23/04/2025 14:58

Great to find this thread
I'm not even managing half a stone a month at the moment and I'm on 12 mg
Going up to 15 soon ,
Plus I'm not eating much at all
I keep seeing all these ticktok accounts of what I eat in day on monjroro
And if I ate anywhere near that I'd be putting weight on
I'm over 50 ,and not getting any steps in and bearly any exercise either due to being at home all-day
I guess these ticktokers are doing a lot of exercise

Doggymummar · 23/04/2025 15:23

@Timmygnome take no notice. Unless you are watching 50? Plus menopausal or perimenopausal tiktokers they are on a different journey. I'm 55 peri, WFH am pretty much housebound and lose about a pound a week, sometimes less. It's been over two years on WLM and I'm nearing six stone off now. Just concentrate on yourself and being the best you can, you'll get there if you keep going.

Timmygnome · 23/04/2025 15:32

Yes there are all in their 20 s ,none my age ,or my lack of movement.
I can't afford to be on it for ages
I thought I'd loose more asi went up the doses ,but if anything it's just totally slowed down

RememberDecember · 23/04/2025 17:12

Slow losses here too, going in the right direction but I have put on weight over Easter celebrations. Hoping to get to 1 stone loss soon, that will be in roughly 3 months so roughly a pound we week, not exactly speedy but still a big loss for me - if I can get there.
