Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

I think I’m going to keep a success journal, 3 positive diet related things a day. This should help me stop focusing on the scales and see the changes that are happening.

im also going to put the scales away for a bit, see if I can trust the process.

Great idea. Funnily enough the Slimpod programme also advocated writing down 3 wins each day, something to do with building happy brain pathways that can help with the weight loss process and better mental health.

The 3 wins they said could also be non-diet related, something to do with the brain enjoying the happy vibes and can start to prioritise and re-enforce the behaviours that gave you a happy chemical kick! I have no idea if it’s true but my mental health was better by the end of the course and I had lost a few inches. Zero lbs though!! 🤷‍♀️

@PlodAlongPolly i did slimpod as well, it was good for a while, really worked but I really hated that piano music at the beginning of their recordings, it really put me on edge and was so counter productive.

the Facebook page got a bit cult like as well, not for me.

Ah cool, yeah there were some benefits and learned some interesting stuff, was where I learned about insulin resistance. I know what you mean about the music(!) and didn’t lose a single lb which is what I joined for! 😂 Did you manage to lose anything?

Yeah I left the fb group too, they didn’t want anyone voicing difficulties with the program / struggling to lose. I wasn’t losing anything even after a few months so didn’t find it v helpful

Yeah @PlodAlongPolly I agree, it was good for my mental health just didn’t lose weight.

tryingtobesogood · 03/04/2025 18:55

To be honest, I’ve done everything 🤦‍♀️

ChristmasLightsLover · 04/04/2025 08:18

Hello everyone, I’ve been awol as it’s been a long couple of weeks at work. I’ve really felt the effects of not having headspace to focus on myself, my walking, and how I can ‘nourish myself’. I know the latter sounds woo woo but I just feel as though it’s been work, work, work, get through what I can at home, and then, straight to bed to maximise sleep and prevent migraine. I have walked a couple of times though so I’m pleased that it’s not stopped entirely in that aspect.

I’m having some time off next week and am planning to make steak salads from someone I follow on insta who does a different one each Sunday. What are your fav foods at this point? I’m up for experimenting!

I’m going to go and read what I’ve missed - 27 new posts, according to the new MN app!

Hope everyone is ok. Looking forward to catching up.

Hey @ChristmasLightsLover lovely to catch up with you! I hope you have a nice time off work next week and chance to recharge, sounds like you need it! I’m so glad for the end of term too so can have a more relaxed family routine for a couple weeks.

Ooo the steak salad sounds nice, let us know how you get on! I’m afraid my cooking is utterly uninspired atm, so nothing exciting to share but if I catch a fair wind and try something new will share it on here!

I live in protein yogurts and drinks, I'm afraid the nearest I get to cooking is heating up a tin of soup. Food has no joy for me it's just a game of getting the macros in. I do like steak with stilton sauce though.

tryingtobesogood · 05/04/2025 15:11

1lb loss this week.

I’ve lost 10lb in five weeks, which is fantastic, but half of that was in week 1 when the side effects were really bad.

I have planned my meals for next week, mon-fri with the weekends being a little more relaxed. I need to be a bit more focused and help the injections along more.

im also hoping this will take away some of the anxiety I have been feeling each week about whether I will lose or not, and help me trust the process.

Mysticmaiden · 05/04/2025 19:02

Hello plodders hope you are all doing well? My initial boost of loss on 10mg has now slowed down after 6 weeks, oh well I'm on my 2nd pen and ordered a 12.5mg for next. I'm now 70.5kg bmi 27.5, started on 83kg on 2nd october bmi 32.4 and its resolved a lot of my inflammatory issues like IBS and bloating. I've discovered Vinted is now and got some wonderful bargains, most of them tagged and in size 12, which fits comfortably! So very happy 😀

TuxedoTammy · 08/04/2025 19:39

Hi everyone, glad to see we are all sauntering along….

Aa I mentioned I was slightly concerned going on holiday - somewhere in Europe where the food is meant to be good.

Well I needn’t have worried!! I am finding the food here very v disappointing. I’m even worried I could be losing too much weight as limited food intake 😳

Soon back to M&S and home cooking ❤️…

TuxedoTammy · 08/04/2025 19:46

Yes @tryingtobesogood trusting the process sounds a good outlook.

Deadringer · 08/04/2025 20:56

Delighted to find this thread. I took my third jab today, down 4 pounds in 2 weeks which is OK, but it's going to be a long slog to lose the extra 4 stone that I am carrying. I have always lost weight very slowly, it's made it impossible for me to stick to a diet, I will lose a pound or 2 in the first week, nothing in the 2nd, then put one back on in the 3rd, so I will end up a pound or two down after a month then i will get fed up and chuck it in. I am hoping that monjuro will help me stick with it long term, I am eating about half what i usually would, and trying to make healthy choices.

TuxedoTammy · 08/04/2025 21:14

Well @Deadringer sounds a bit similar to me. I lost 4 lbs the first week on MJ (mostly water I would imagine), then stalled for a month - niente!, then up and down and another stall over the next 4 months - for no real rhyme or reason. It’s been slow, less than a pound a week on average, but the overall trajectory is down ...

Doggymummar · 09/04/2025 07:16

Well. Weigh in and jab day today. I lost a grand total of .2 of a pound Ido t even know what that is, probably a haircuts worth of weight. Ah well any loss is good. Gave a great week people.

tryingtobesogood · 12/04/2025 17:25

It’s been an interesting week. I upped my fibre intake a lot this week and had some pretty dramatic digestive consequences. I’ve eaten healthily and been very active but no weight loss.

I do wonder if it’s related to the digestive difficulties.

Orangesandlemons77 · 12/04/2025 19:04

After fluctuating up and down weight has settled on a 1kg loss since about well, January but I will take it, at least things are moving in the right direction. BMI now approx 32, down from 40 last September, which overall is quite a change although has been slow recently. Keep plodding on!

TuxedoTammy · 14/04/2025 12:47

I hope this finds everyone well.

I’ve lost a couple more pounds this last 2 weeks (the holiday where I was half starved might have something to do with it!). It still does seem somewhat slow when you see some of (what seems to me) almost overnight transformations eg on Reddit. Or people losing 10 lbs a month or more on 2.5 mg! I’m now in month 5 and am currently on 7.5 mg and will see if that is still working for me over the coming weeks. I am a tortoise 🐢 rather than a hare 🐇 🙂.

Anyway, now I’m just going to focus on looking after myself, exercise and relaxing (after some stressful months). The scales aspect is being put to one side, and I am now focusing on other areas at this stage. I may weigh in once a fortnight to help re-focus on my body, exercise and health in other ways, and trust MJ to carry on doing its work in the background.

ps. @PlodAlongPolly my GP “agreed” 🧐 with me that my thyroxine dose was too low and upped it from 75 mg to 100 mg. I’ll test again in 4 months (private and NHS again).

TuxedoTammy · 14/04/2025 12:49

@Orangesandlemons77 40 to 32 is a real achievement!

TuxedoTammy · 14/04/2025 12:49

@Orangesandlemons77 40 to 32 is a real achievement!

Thanks I suppose it is, I saw a doctor last week and they were impressed by it! I am pretty short though so think that influences the BMI a bit (not sure) so for example a lower weight for BMI 40 than if taller perhaps!

I do feel better, trying to remind myself of that when things seem to be moving slowly.

I have just been to aqua aerobics and going to try going to that again this week. Keep plodding on!

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/04/2025 15:10

I may have mentioned this already but it helps me keep going- I had my bloods tested since starting MJ and cholesterol, blood sugars and blood pressure have all improved and some moved from abnormal to normal range, which is good as I am on meds which mean I get these tests as they can cause metabolic problems.

As long as I can afford it I will stay on it, the weight loss is a bonus.

tryingtobesogood · 14/04/2025 15:31

@Orangesandlemons77 I am due for my over 40s check up next week and I am hoping to see similar changes. The weight loss for me is as much about my health as it is about how I look.

Hope you do as well, That's how I feel about it as well, especially with the other meds I'm on.

tryingtobesogood · 15/04/2025 08:08

I feel like I am going nowhere but in reality I am making progress. I am wearing a jumper that I was going to give to charity a few months ago because it was too small. I have bought some trousers one size down and I walked up the hill to the station hardly getting out of breath. It’s a steep hill.

Marginal gains 🎉
