Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Hello Plodders, do you all religiously get you 2/3 litres of water in a day? It’s the only thing I can think is the reason that I’m not losing, lack of hydration. I struggle so much with the water.

GeraniumRoseblush · 10/11/2025 15:30

Hi @anothercortisolqueen I tend to get around 2ltrs of water down me a day, topped up by a few cups of tea. Agree it's a bit of a chore though - adding some berries in makes it more interesting, or drinking sparkling water.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 10/11/2025 18:23

I’m terrible @anothercortisolqueen - I drink so little. I don’t even know why it seems to be so hard. I’ve read that it makes a big difference to losing weight but I can’t understand why - perhaps if I did, I’d make myself drink more.

tryingtobesogood · 11/11/2025 07:28

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 10/11/2025 14:44

3oz is just rude @tryingtobesogood - will be willing for the magic number to come up on the scales

Isn’t it!! Today there was bobbing, the scales bobbed down into that magic number and then popped back up again. I have high hopes for the end of the week if I just do what I’m supposed to do.

anothercortisolqueen · 11/11/2025 10:08

I’ve lost a grand total of 3.5 lbs since the 8th of September when I restarted MJ 😂 suspect that will have gone back on now since I had a colonoscopy last week and the weight loss was probably down to the bowel prep 😂😂😂😂

i really must try and drink the water.

Deadringer · 11/11/2025 10:52

I struggle with drinking a lot of water too. I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks now, though the scales did 'bob' a bit. I was hoping to stick with 7.5 but I might have to move up to 10. The annoying thing is I track my calories every day with nutracheck and keep within my limits so I should be losing. Plodding is no fun.

I think it helps the body break down fat for fuel, and also helps with waste (lovely!). I don't really like still water so I just drink sparkling through the day and with meals. I feel more knackered if I'm a bit dehydrated so I'm now more mindful of trying to get enough down me!

Agree @Deadringer plodding is no fun!

Orangesandlemons77 · 11/11/2025 17:16

You can get these little electrolyte or vitamin tablets / flavours for the water if that makes it a bit nicer. That helps a bit.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 11/11/2025 21:45

@Orangesandlemons77 I did look into those - but they almost all seem to have artificial sweeteners in them and I really dislike the flavour and aftertaste. But I do need to massively up my game over this. Dehydration is not good for anything. Other than grapes.

tryingtobesogood · 13/11/2025 07:29

It bobbed … and it stayed. The magic number has been reached!!! I am doing a happy dance this morning.

that was a hard earned half a lb. Got a few days off this weekend, going to meal plan and do some exercise, see if I can get a bit more off before Christmas.

woo hoo

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 13/11/2025 10:50

@tryingtobesogood Hurrah! Congratulations 🎉 🥳

Deadringer · 19/11/2025 10:26

Morning all, this thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought i would give it a bump. I have been losing a pound a week fairly steadily since I started last March, I am now thrilled to be overweight rather than obese but I had a couple of weeks were I lost nothing at all which is very disheartening, especially when I am staying on track. I have been very tempted to graze, and without the mounjoro I certainly would have given in, but then last Friday hallelujah I was a pound down at last, and now this morning, a further 2 pounds down! I am thrilled to be back on track! Just in case anyone else is getting a bit fed up with slow progress, especially with Christmas looming, as i was, keep going, it will happen.

Sw 14 4
Cw 11 10

Not sure about gw, somewhere between 10 7 to 10 10 maybe.

GeraniumRoseblush · 19/11/2025 11:49

Well done @Deadringer and @tryingtobesogood on the downward trend of the scales. You must be very pleased to see that moving again. Hallelujah indeed!

I have been resolutely stuck at 10stone for the last 6 weeks which is the border between healthy and overweight for my BMI. Tbh, I've got bored of thinking of protein, water, walking and weights and feel like I'm going through the motions now. Don't really want to up my 3mg dose as I'm trying to come off it soon-ish but not sure what else to do to shift a stall. Ideally I'd lose another 6lbs or so to have some leeway once off the jabs but obviously my body is hanging onto this weight for dear life! Seems I can't even claim to be 'plodding' now, I'm just stuck 🤪

PlodAlongPolly · 20/11/2025 11:18

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been off for a bit and just catching up. Some great progress and milestones reached! Well done and same to those (like me, lol) who are still sticking with it when losses are elusive, frustrating and going beyond plodding to total stalling. We will get there, it might take some of us longer but we can do it! Keep Calm and Plod On! 🌟 Same as you @NaivePrey I’ve accepted it will probably take 2 years for me too as have been on it a year and about half way. Will have to see how the affordability goes, but am hoping prices might come down again next year with the various developments in the pipeline and also competition between the pharmacies.

Thanks re the feedback about the recipe I posted before! 🩷 If anyone else has go to meals they find good please feel free to post, it’s hard to be enthused by food on appetite suppressants! 😅 The Field Doctor meals sound good, I like the fact they do smaller portion options and also will check out Emma Bardwell.
Am bad with water too like other people have said. When I first started and initially signed up with Voy they sent info and we had this new starters advice call, I always remember them emphasising that the meds suppress thirst too, not just food appetite. It masks our thirst drive. I don’t drink as much water as pre-jabs and am generally worse when the weather gets cold too so need to up my game! Dehydration is bad for everything and may even be contributing to my stalls so definitely need to improve.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 20/11/2025 14:35

That’s really interesting @PlodAlongPolly I had no idea it was a thirst suppressant - it explains a lot.

I’m about a third of the way to my goal (which is probably still being a bit overweight - it’s not like I’m being unrealistic and shooting for a size 8!). At 10 months in, I think it’s going to take me rather more than 2 years. I think I outplod you all!

PlodAlongPolly · 21/11/2025 11:19

Yeah I was surprised too when they said but was glad to be aware of it. A reduced thirst instinct isn’t ideal but have come to see it as another side effect of wli to try and manage as best possible. Well done for being a third through, that is still significant! No plodder left behind, we’re here for the long haul! 💖

I’ve decided today that I might focus on maintaining through Christmas and the new year. I’ve had quite a year, loads of things have happened, many of them have been good, including losing 35lb.

I’m half way to where I want to be, and in the greater scheme of things a few weeks of not trying so hard won’t make much difference. this time next year I’ll be talking about being at target and I do think I need to cut myself some slack, after 2 very full years (one awful and one good).

I’m tired lol.

PlodAlongPolly · 21/11/2025 20:10

That sounds like a good plan @tryingtobesogood enjoy your Christmas and new year, 2026 isn’t going anywhere and just think where we’ll all be by this time next year! Here’s to a better year ahead for you ✨ 🫶 🌟 I could do with a better one too, esp re health.

Do you think you’ll vary your dose over Christmas at all? I was thinking about delaying my jab or reducing it to be able to enjoy Christmas dinner better, and some festive nibbles …

OP posts:
tryingtobesogood · 23/11/2025 08:46

surprisingly I lost weight this week, 1lb. I wasn’t expecting that. It was a nice surprise.

i’d not thought about lowering my dose for Christmas, I’m not sure I would, I can eat enough though, so won’t feel like I am missing out.

PlodAlongPolly · 23/11/2025 13:11

Ah well done on losing a lb this week! Love it when that happens, when you don’t expect it and is a nice surprise. Cool I hope you have a lovely Christmas and everyone here, we’ve worked hard and deserve a good one I think! :) x

Good news on the pound @tryingtobesogood , and having a maintaining spell sounds like a good focus over Christmas/new year - I did the same last year and no regrets.

The field doctor meals are nice and definitely more healthy than normal ready meals - I'm only having one every week or so at the moment, it is nice to have them there to help me eat better. Which remains an issue.

I left Mumsnet (lost count of the number of times I've done that now!) in a moment of 'I must stop wasting my time' and as soon as I did it remembered this thread! Thankfully the break has meant I've lost interest in the rest of the threads so fingers crossed - I think don't look is the answer!

I've had quick a good run of it weight loss wise these last four weeks (1.5. 1.3, 1.2, 1.9 lbs) which has been very welcome and very surprising - I haven't lost that consistently for a very long time. I'm now 1 lb away from NOT being obese (I have lost 4 st 8 lbs so far) so I should be able to meet that target by Christmas/the new year...should. I am bracing myself for a stall due to the good run of it though. Either way I am full of hope for 2026 - the main thing I am thinking is this will be the first year in a very very long time (ever?) that I will not yo yo. I will either STS or go down more, if I stay on MJ (and no intention of coming off unless there is a real medical reason). That in itself is exciting. Having a BMI of 30 feels 'normal' after being as high as 41. I love it.

GeraniumRoseblush · 23/11/2025 20:05

Fantastic news @tryingtobesogood and @AlmostStopped, cheering you both on! 🙌 Very encouraging that you're losing and what a great streak you're having @AlmostStopped

My aim for Christmas is just to maintain but still enjoy some lovely food and drink. I think I'll try to be mindful about calories up until Christmas Eve and then have a few days 'off'. Life is too short to miss out on mince pies! 😀

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 23/11/2025 23:16

I’ve just had my 4th done of 5mg, having been on 4 2.5mg pens before that.

I’ve lost the weight I put on towards the end of the 2.5mg pens and am now 2lb under my lowest weight when on the lower dose pens.

My partner said they could notice a difference now in my face and they never notice things like that, so I’m taking that as a nsv today. My BMI is now 30.3, so there is a chance I might get into the overweight section before Christmas. We shall see!

Elliebearblues · 24/11/2025 08:21

Hello all, just wondering if I could join you, I started Weight loss injections at the start of September and still haven’t even lost a stone yet 😩. Nearly there as I’ve lost 13lbs now… I’m a slow loser and it can be frustrating when others are having really good loses and I’m 0,5lbs and 1lb losses. It doesn’t help that I’ve been poorly with a stomach bug and virus over the last month so exercise was non existent. I have started upping my steps and got back to the gym last week too. It’ll be nice to chat to others that have slow losses too and it’s not just me…
im currently on 5mg and have been taking that for the last 4 weeks x

AlmostStoppedII · 24/11/2025 12:50

Thanks @GeraniumRoseblush !
@AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo - glad you’re tolerating 5 mg so well and seeing some results. @PlodAlongPolly and me have exactly the same sub 30 BMI by Christmas/NY goal!

Hi @Elliebearblues ! Those losses add up, I’ve done 75 weeks now (and it really doesn’t feel that long since I started) and lost 4.5 st - most of that very slowly, slower than you are losing. It helps avoiding the threads with the fast losers!

I shared my weight loss data/graph with chatGPT. Along with my weight history (which is basically spending my entire adult life either losing or gaining to ever increasing weights and basically no maintenance of any weight) and age. These were the key takeaways…

  • Weeks 0–20: Rapid early loss (very typical with GLP-1/GIP meds + early behavioural changes). [1.55 lb/wk average]
  • Weeks 20–40 & 40–60: A clear plateauing phase — slower, more variable loss. This happens to almost everyone after months 6–12. [0.45 lb/wk average]
  • Weeks 60–75: A noticeable re-acceleration in loss. [0.98 lb/wk average]
  • This is right after reaching 15 mg, and you’re losing more in this block than in blocks 2 and 3.

extremely typical of

  • Women in their 50s
  • People who titrated slowly
  • People who switched to 12.5 mg or 15 mg later in the journey
  • People who started with higher BMI and had a long glide-slope downward

Most likely stable zone with MJ is BMI 23.5 to 25.5
I will most likely need 15 mg to maintain, for the first 1-2 years at least
Can experiment with dose reductions later but need a minimum of 6 months stable maintenance before attempting
My body will naturally stop losing when it is in the body’s comfort zone - hunger will increase slightly, so just let it find it.
