Plodders Club 🐌

Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Has anyone else developed cramps/spasms in their feet/legs at night? A few nights recently my toes have gone into spasms, they pointed up and locked that way for several minutes, accompanied by pain in front of shins. I have upped my water intake and started on magnesium tablets and I am starting on electrolytes today. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this, it's painful and quite scary.

I've always had it, I take magnesium to help. Also magnesium oil is good to rub in

Deadringer · 24/08/2025 17:35

Thanks @Doggymummar I have had leg cramps before but the toes pointing up and locking is a new one for me. I will up my dose of magnesium and see does it help.

AlmostStopped · 25/08/2025 09:54

That sounds painful/annoying @Deadringer - hope upping your dose of Mg helps. I frequently get rouge pains aches when I got to bed that stop me falling asleep - either ankle or knee but nothing like that.

Official Sat WI only yielded a 0.2 lb loss but I've had a whoosh since and I'm now a further 2.6 lbs down in two days. It's been 5 weeks since last whoosh - just hope I keep this...

My mission today is to make turkey egg cup things again, and try freezing them this time. Force myself to get on with improving my meal prep/planning which is pretty bad.

GeraniumRoseblush · 25/08/2025 14:25

Hi all, I continue my glacial weightloss doing the 'drop a lb or 2, go back up and sometimes higher, hover around a bit and then drop further' dance. The speed of loss is quite annoying as you all can relate! So I'm 16 weeks in and have lost 20lbs:
SW 11st 12
CW 10st 6
First goal 10st (maybe in about 2 months 😬)

However in the last week, a couple of people have asked if I've lost weight, and my clothes are all getting slightly too big which is a bit of a boost so I'm going to try to focus more on that now rather than the scale number. Probably easier said than done 😂

@Valenciaoranges my weight also sits around my waist. I heard a podcast a while back which said that cortisol has a big impact on tummy fat so basically we all need to be less stressed. Er ok that sounds easy 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, onwards fellow plodders, 1lb every few weeks will eventually get us there 👊

tryingtobesogood · 26/08/2025 12:53

I lost a lb whoop whoop.

I hope this is me moving through the stall I’ve had this month.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 26/08/2025 13:23

Toe cramps sound awful @Deadringer Hope the magnesium makes a swift difference. I’ve also read iron is good for restless legs - if there’s an element of that.

😁

Fingers crossed @tryingtobesogood !

I'm trying to gear myself up for going back to work. I love the buzz and the consequences of being productive but...I'm deep in sloth mode, and struggling to break out. I may have to ban (or at least limit) myself from chat gpt - spend the morning re-designing the spare bedroom with it and getting to test me on my latest history obsession.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 26/08/2025 18:44

@AlmostStopped what IS your latest history obsession? (Ancient History graduate here…)

War of the Roses!

I found doing my family trees, and then getting into Outlander has made me much more interested in History! All quite surface level though I am sure…

Is it still a passion of yours?

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 26/08/2025 20:18

Who doesn’t love Outlander @AlmostStopped ?! Yes, love history and archaeology - War of the Roses v modern though! 🤭

Yes, I guess it is a bit modern!

Stonehenge more your era?

Loving ‘blood of my blood’ at the moment ❤️

Deadringer · 27/08/2025 12:23

Thanks @0ncemorewithfee1ing one positive effect of extra magnesium is that it seems to keep the bowels moving, so thats a positive.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 27/08/2025 17:30

Well, today I’ve put on three stones - but as they’re two diamonds and a teal sapphire, I’m very happy with that!

Yes! A happy ever after for us - we’re both widowed due to cancer and had no hope we’d be happy again.

There is now a little pressure around a wedding dress and photos of course!

Aw congratulations @0ncemorewithfee1ing wonderful news! 🎊 🍾 🥂

Sorry I’ve been off the chat again, crawling to the end of the summer hols with my full-o-beans DC, been so busy and brain/ body frazzled 🫠

Summer holidays officially over (teacher)! think it must be my least productive and satisfying one yet…I am glad to be going back to work on Monday despite not being ready in the slightest! Shoulder injury didn’t help but I generally don’t feel great - almost certainly a mix of MJ/late peri/non optimal nutrition/not enough water/not enough exercise.

Just being back at work should help a bit with the things I can control. I’ve got some rehab exercises classes booked for the next few weeks, then I have decided the time has come to go back to Pilates. I really miss how that used to make me feel when I was going it regularly.

AlmostStopped · 30/08/2025 10:25

Feel much better today - hopefully it lasts, and 3 lbs off this week (official WI day). The pattern is several weeks of practically nothing and then a whoosh like this...so I expect it to still be quite a while before I hit 4 st loss (another 2.7 lb to go but that is likely to take over a month 🐌)...got to believe it will happen though! I'm being more sensible with what I eat/drink - don't think I can get away with some of the things that slipped in now I am on 15 mg. I accept that now!

How is everyone else doing?

tryingtobesogood · 30/08/2025 10:40

I have moved up to 10mg now, and am losing slowly but losing. I am clinging to NSV where I can and am trying to exercise but find MJ takes the joy out of it somehow. I normally love to do a workout but I feel so flat about it. So just trying to do what I can when I can.

Doggymummar · 30/08/2025 13:26

4lb off today, the stress gain from visiting the toxic mother last week. New low reached of 160lb.

GeraniumRoseblush · 30/08/2025 23:21

Congrats @Doggymummar @AlmostStopped nice to get a few lbs off unexpectedly 🎉

@tryingtobesogood I've been taking L-tyrosine, an amino acid, to address the 'feeling a bit flat/joy being sucked out of everything' feeling I've had since early on in the MJ journey - apparently MJ can disrupt the dopamine pathway. Someone suggested it on another thread and I looked up MJ/dopamine/l-tyrosine to see what info there is and I have to say I feel much brighter now I'm taking it (who knows whether that's psychosomatic 🤷‍♀️) - thought I'd pass on in case of interest.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 31/08/2025 08:41

I have this morning finally hit the 'overweight' BMI and it feels rather odd to be so overjoyed, but there we have it; I am no longer obese. Just over 10 months in, and I have gone from BMI 39.8 to BMI 29.9 and my overall weight loss has also hit 4 stone today. I've lost 24% of my body weight and am lighter than I've been in around 10 years. I still have a way to go, but I will be more than happy to get to BMI 24/25 which should only be another 2 stone away!
