Plodders Club 🐌

Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

I think I may have 2 pens coming from Oushk and 3 from MedExpress. If so, I have enough for at least 6 months. That’s if they arrive, of course.

But given my painfully slow progress with MJ (1stone 7lbs in 8 months), I’ll be really interested to hear if your weight loss is any more rapid @Orangesandlemons77

tryingtobesogood · 22/08/2025 10:00

*Sigh

scales not moving but lost inches as my clothes are loose. I need to go up to 10mg but it’s my birthday so am holding off due to side effects.

I have 3 pens, 10mg and 2x12.5mg. I’m hoping to get one or two more before the price increase, that will give me 6 months.

im also hoping the scales move but who knows. Maybe one day

Is everyone getting their pen orders ok?

I got one through today from The Private Pharmacy Clinic, thankfully it was well wrapped and insulated with the cold pack as I missed delivery yesterday but it was still coolish when dpd redelivered (although the cool pack was melted)

I'm on holiday till Tuesday so have ordered three from oushk to arrive then. Fingers crossed.

Yes - a bit too well, as they arrived much earlier than expected and we were still away for another two days (came back today). DPD left two under the car (could see on ring doorbell). Thankfully I could ask DS to pop round and put them in our fridge. He has no idea I am on MJ but didn't ask any questions as to why I wanted him to put the parcels including packaging straight into the fridge. He may have seen an existing box in the fridge though (under something but even so...he likes to have a good look in the fridge! When he still lived at home I stored them in a mini fridge somewhere he wouldn't look. I don't have an issue with him knowing but I don't want to talk about it or risk him slipping it to someone which then cascades into his grandparents knowing and...).

I ordered three - the first one click and collect (as was a chance we would still be away). The second and third (when I read from Asda you could order three in separate orders) two days later but for home delivery as C&C not an option for some reason. All got approved at the same time of course after 5 and 3 days respectively and then delivered the next day! I still need to do the 40 min round trip to get the C&C one.

I was only going to order one but when I read the message from Asda I then thought I was being stupid doing that rather than the three they said I could have. I still feel like a bad panic buyer though, I suppose because I am.

Hi just found this thread, how does everyone feel if they are a slow loser and the prices are going up? It has taken me 11 months to lose 4 stone but before using the injections it took me 4 months to lose 6lb so they have helped, but this month I tried dropping down a dose and my weight has stalled. I am not sure if im eating too little so really trying to focus on protein and im doing as much exercise as I can (have poor health and poor mobility so its not much but doing what I can).
Juat considering the thought of my pen going up by £100 a month when im barely managing a pound a week and wondering what on earth I should do.
I think a lot of it is because of hormones (peri menopausal but cant take HRT for a while as I need surgery and cant have it until after that) so I am just a bit stuck.
Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation. My BMI is still 36 so still have plenty to lose!

Deadringer · 22/08/2025 20:39

@readytochange21 I feel a bit defeated by it all tbh. It has taken me 6 months to lose 24 pounds, I have another 30 to lose so a minimum of maybe 7 months, and then there is the maintenance. I am in ireland and don't qualify for the drug here, so I have to pay £100 extra for an online consultation on top of the new prices. Just feel so fed up.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 22/08/2025 20:57

I think we’re all panicking! Mind you, not quite sure why I am, given my dire results to date. I think at the back of my mind, I’m still hoping it kicks in!

PinkSour · 22/08/2025 20:59

I'm having this debate with myself. Taken me a year to lose 30lb so I'm looking at another 2 years at this rate. I cannot justify £200+ a month so I'm looking at switching to wegovy to allow me to carry on. I'm on a good 4 months of stall but I haven't gained anything back, which I'm sure I would have happened had I not been on Mounjaro.

readytochange21 · 22/08/2025 21:03

Im glad it's not just me feeling like that although it sucks anyone else is feeling the same. @PinkSourI have considered possibly trying to switch to wegovy, there is the worry the same will happen but it might be worth a try.

Mysticmaiden · 22/08/2025 21:04

Hello all, I haven't posted since end of May when I was at 11st 2lbs. I hope everyone is well?

SW 13st 1lbs bmi 32.4
CW 9st 9.5lbs bmi 24.0

My plodding of 1.04lbs average or 47.4lbs lost on 46 weeks means I've lost almost 3.5st. I'm astonished that I'm down to 24.0 bmi, amazed really! The 1lb a week losses have added up and I lost a fair bit on 15mg because I could barely eat! Struggled to eat 730-850 cals a day most days. I finished it off then went down to 12.5, which means I'm hungry right now but its better than being constantly super full and exhausted!
With the price rises, I'm going to taper down. I've got 2 x10mg pens on their way tomorrow and that will be the last ones!

PinkSour · 22/08/2025 21:05

@readytochange21 this is why I'm so stuck, I don't know whether to just stop and do it the hard way, switch and risk the same thing happening or try and stockpile (with what money though..) I'm on here tonight reading threads to try and decide what to do!

PlodAlongPolly · 22/08/2025 22:56

I think for me it’s all a bit of a soup of stuff at the moment. Has taken nearly 10 months to get where I am with the losses being so slow and stalling. Bmi currently still obese at 30.8, edging closer to overweight but have a long way to go to get to healthy bmi (my goal). Just checked and is another 15.5 kg to get to the outer edge of healthy bmi (as in, just sneaking into the healthy range!). If that takes another 10 months, I don’t think I’m ready to calculate how much that would cost… 🙀

PlodAlongPolly · 22/08/2025 23:03

I am worried about regaining though. Has always been a problem after losing weight, not been able to keep it off so was hoping to do maintenance with MJ but unless the landscape changes drastically (ie prices drop down again) I can’t see that will be affordable. Hopefully with new WLI drugs coming out or when generic MJ becomes available the cost will drop down.

I have a pen and a half to go so I think im going to see how the next month goes and make a decision. I can always try it alone and if that doesn't work then maybe try wegovy. Its just frustrating, I need to lose as much weight as possible for surgery and while ive done well, its hard when I feel like im doing absolutely everything and getting half a pound off seems a challenge some weeks.
I can probably manage to find the money but its just so hard to justify it for such tiny results. I think the last month ive lost 2lb and I am literally doing everything I can.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 23/08/2025 00:35

Agreed. With all of you. I don’t want to calculate £ to lb - but 8 months in I’ve lost a total 1.5st. I’ve panicked and hopefully bought some pens - I’m not at 15 yet but start getting really hungry from day 4 so I need to try 15 - and (probably stupidly) hope that it all clicks somehow and I start losing a reasonable amount. After I’ve used my stockpile, I’ll have to see if it’s working. I don’t think I can justify paying for anything less than 1lb a week - even though it does pretty impressive things to my blood sugars.

It’s not easy, is it? No matter what some ignorant people seem to think.

Deadringer · 23/08/2025 13:01

I have 2.5 pens in the fridge, after that I am going to try wegovy, assuming the mounjoro prices go crazy. It's not easy, although I am not hungry I am sick of drinking galleons of water and eating high protein low fat food. It's just so bloody boring, I would have given up months ago without the WLI.

PinkSour · 23/08/2025 20:07

Just ordered a final 15mg as back in stock at £145 on medicine marketplace. I put in an order for Wegovy 1mg after lots of reading last night which I'll try afterwards. I'm not going to try and stockpile but I am going to refocus with the aim of getting a significant amount of weight off before something else happens!

Can we profit from your research please, @PinkSour ? What did you find out?

Yeah of course, I basically read all the guides the pharmacies have out about switching as there's a lot of people in the same boat along with a bunch of mumsnet threads because I don't think you can beat lived experience.

You can switch from one to the other, it is safe to do so and they both work in the same way, albeit Wegovy is apparently slightly less effective (however the actual stats make this look fairly negligible as the time periods for the trials are never the same).

You need to have a 7 day wash out period between the two which I don't think makes any different since it's 7 days between mounjaro injections anyway.

There is no equivalent dosage between the two but you don't have to start at the start with wegovy, for 15mg, the recommended dosage would be 1mg of wegovy which is the third step up (so like going back to 10mg).

There should be no withdrawal symptoms and the side effects are largely the same between them.

Couple of guides :
Simple online pharmacy
Pharmacy express
Superdrug
Superdrug includes an equivalent dosage.

Obviously individual research recommended but I decided I'm not ready to stop but I can't afford the mounjaro price rise.

Valenciaoranges · 24/08/2025 10:15

I've lost about 14 kg since February. I haven't gone above 7.5 dose. I look much slimmer but still a waist that is considered overweight. All the excess seems to sit there!!
I exercise regularly (spin bike, weights etc) and eat very clean on the whole. My appetite suppression has been consistent but I would like to lose another 7kg maybe? Any suggestions much appreciated to shift the mid area weight.

tryingtobesogood · 24/08/2025 11:13

I’ve booked a holiday, in 6 weeks. I’d love to shift a few more lbs in that time. I’m trying to decide whether to move up a dose or not. I get a lot of side effects so am a little worried about those but hope that they will be manageable. I’m on 7.5 and will try 10mg today

edited to say the holiday is in 6 weeks not for 6 weeks, that would be good

Just curious as to how that will help if my appetite suppression is so good on the current dose?

Deadringer · 24/08/2025 14:01

Has anyone else developed cramps/spasms in their feet/legs at night? A few nights recently my toes have gone into spasms, they pointed up and locked that way for several minutes, accompanied by pain in front of shins. I have upped my water intake and started on magnesium tablets and I am starting on electrolytes today. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this, it's painful and quite scary.

Perhaps for the other benefits, the way it changes how insulin is processed and how our fat is stored.
