Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

@GeraniumRoseblush I have ordered some from Holland and Barrat, I have nothing to lose by trying this, and would really like to get my oomph back.

AlmostStopped · 31/08/2025 09:53

Well done @RainbowZebraWarrior ! That is brilliant! 😀I've always found there is a real shift in how I look when I go below a BMI of 30, so that is a really significant milestone!

Great loss this week @Doggymummar !

That's really interesting @GeraniumRoseblush . It could be pure coincidence but I have been taking my menopace night for the last two nights (I am terrible at remember it - now have a better system) and have been feeling much better. I'll look into the L-tyrosine too.

I've been trying on various clothes in my wardrobe today, got rid of some, bought some back into circulation. Also bought two new work blouses yesterday in a size down, so feel like I am making some progress. It feels super slow but I am in such a better place than were I was a year+ ago, I am starting to enjoy clothes again.

Congrats @Doggymummar @AlmostStopped nice to get a few lbs off unexpectedly 🎉

@tryingtobesogood I've been taking L-tyrosine, an amino acid, to address the 'feeling a bit flat/joy being sucked out of everything' feeling I've had since early on in the MJ journey - apparently MJ can disrupt the dopamine pathway. Someone suggested it on another thread and I looked up MJ/dopamine/l-tyrosine to see what info there is and I have to say I feel much brighter now I'm taking it (who knows whether that's psychosomatic 🤷‍♀️) - thought I'd pass on in case of interest.

I can relate to that will have a look thank you

I have this morning finally hit the 'overweight' BMI and it feels rather odd to be so overjoyed, but there we have it; I am no longer obese. Just over 10 months in, and I have gone from BMI 39.8 to BMI 29.9 and my overall weight loss has also hit 4 stone today. I've lost 24% of my body weight and am lighter than I've been in around 10 years. I still have a way to go, but I will be more than happy to get to BMI 24/25 which should only be another 2 stone away!

So brilliant well done. That's where my body really started to change exciting times ahead.

anothercortisolqueen · 31/08/2025 10:31

I’m so glad I found this thread. I wish I’d noticed it earlier in May when I decided to stop WLIs. I took MJ from Nov to June and I lost and gained the same 4 lbs only. I got up to a 7.5 pen and after two months of that not working I gave up. I’ve gone 2 months without a pen and all I want to do is eat and have seen my weight gain again despite only being on 1200-1300 cals a day… the food noise is unreal and I think I need to try again , with the price increases it’s terrifying but I can’t continue like this. On reflection I didn’t drink enough water or move my body enough, I was SO tired all the time! I’m trying to get my 2litres in now, hopefully tracking cals, lots more water and 10k steps at least a day will work when I start again. I’m such a slow
loser historically I really hope a second time around works. I don’t know I’m lost at what to do really.

Doggymummar · 31/08/2025 10:40

It didn't work for me till 10mg but I never thought of giving up. Other than a major operation this was the last chance for me. 2.5 years later I am something like 110lb down and it's such a difference

tryingtobesogood · 31/08/2025 10:54

@anothercortisolqueen it really is worth trying again, it may be that you need much higher doses for it to work. A friend started MJ the same time as me and has had to go to 15mg to really see any effect.

This was exactly the same for me and I am so thankful I didn't give up, but like you it was last chance saloon for me. I actually feel a big emotional today and I can genuinely say that looking at this thread over the past six months and seeing the lovely familiar names has totally helped. It absolutely has kept me going and also feel less alone in my battle.

Thank you all so much you lovely lot ❤️

Onwards and upwards! (Or downwards in the sense of the scales)

AlmostStopped · 31/08/2025 14:22

Good luck with trying again @anothercortisolqueen !

Whilst it did work for me at the lower doses, I feel that it has ramped up a gear now that I am on 15 mg (better than the majority of the 5 -12.5 mg weeks). I've heard that for a lot of people it just doesn't really start working at all until the higher doses.

Just made space of my graph for the next 20 week block that takes me up until the end of 2025. Challenging target is to end near the trend line...we'll see!

Arg I’m kicking myself for not being more ready for back to school! Everything washed but can’t face the ironing atm and a pair of school shoes that fit are being elusive 🫣

Just catching up with your updates, some great scale and NSW’s here! And ooo look at that lovely chart @AlmostStopped 😍 fantastic!

A warm welcome to you @anothercortisolqueen 👋 and hopefully you find a good deal on starting up again and also wanted to encourage you as others have also said, that maybe the higher doses will work better for you. I’m on 12.5 now and progress is still slow but is at least not completely stalled (like I had at lower strengths!) and is creeping along in the right direction 🐌

Re: the situation with Sept onwards, I’m hopeful that prices may drop a bit and discounts return once things have settled with the increases. I figure the pharmacies won’t want to lose their customer base entirely (their businesses will fold if we all have to jump ship?) and everyone will be watching prices now like a hawk, especially those on the expensive higher doses (I know I will!). So I’m hoping a competitive market will still work in our favour going forwards. A bit of a storm to weather I guess, on both sides of the equation.

If you need any help picking a pharmacy there is lots of chat on the WLI board about different suppliers and people’s experiences which I’ve found v helpful . Please avoid Your Medicals though, they are awful and took full payment but never dispatched my order (rumour has it they may fold).

Hi just found this thread, how does everyone feel if they are a slow loser and the prices are going up? It has taken me 11 months to lose 4 stone but before using the injections it took me 4 months to lose 6lb so they have helped, but this month I tried dropping down a dose and my weight has stalled. I am not sure if im eating too little so really trying to focus on protein and im doing as much exercise as I can (have poor health and poor mobility so its not much but doing what I can).
Juat considering the thought of my pen going up by £100 a month when im barely managing a pound a week and wondering what on earth I should do.
I think a lot of it is because of hormones (peri menopausal but cant take HRT for a while as I need surgery and cant have it until after that) so I am just a bit stuck.
Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation. My BMI is still 36 so still have plenty to lose!

Hi and welcome to you too @readytochange21 👋 sorry I’ve been a bit all over the place this summer, the kids have been keeping me busy! 😅 How are you getting on?

Summer holidays officially over (teacher)! think it must be my least productive and satisfying one yet…I am glad to be going back to work on Monday despite not being ready in the slightest! Shoulder injury didn’t help but I generally don’t feel great - almost certainly a mix of MJ/late peri/non optimal nutrition/not enough water/not enough exercise.

Just being back at work should help a bit with the things I can control. I’ve got some rehab exercises classes booked for the next few weeks, then I have decided the time has come to go back to Pilates. I really miss how that used to make me feel when I was going it regularly.

Thought of you @AlmostStopped and whether you were back teaching today (inset day?) Hope it was a good one if so 🌸

I’m not looking forward to the manic mornings must say, so resolving to get up earlier to try and minimise! Like someone said before about stress causing us to gain and retain weight around our middles, so less stress would be helpful.

Best of luck to everyone prepping for back to school this week. I feel like I'm running around like the proverbial fly even though I felt I hadn't left everything till the last minute...

Some thoughts have been running through my mind today. The main one is how 15mg is really finally working for me, so just a helpful (hopefully) nod to those still struggling on lower doses like I did. I'm Autistic and also have ADHD so at one point I didn't actually think Mounjaro was going to work at all for me. I have a history of meds not working / a high tolerance of a lot of drugs.

The other thoughts are mainly NSW related. I posted a while back about finally being able to put my laptop on my lap (in the past, my belly was too big) and I've also noticed that my belly isn't anywhere near touching the steering wheel in the car any more. I've also just realised that I've not had any sweat rashes under my boobs or in the folds of my belly this summer. I also used to be plagued with (sorry if TMI) boils around my knicker line which ive not had for months now.

My arthritis is still shit. I'm still always going to need both hips replacing in the next year or two, but at least now (well, soon) I shouldn't be turned away because 'you need to lose more weight before we will operate on you'

I'm mindful that I've lost muscle mass and I'm trying to do what I can to keep what I have. I'm disabled so this isn't easy, but life just feels a bit more doable now. I'm having my bloods done in two weeks and I'm hoping my 4 stone weight loss is reflected in my HBA1C and Cholesterol levels. Last year they were borderline for meds and I already have high BP so I was warned in no uncertain terms about my stroke risk. As a single parent, this is what really gave me the kick up the arse I needed.

I'm 12 stone 8 right now and I was pondering today that I was 12 stone 9 at 9 months pregnant 14 years ago. I felt fat then and boy did everyone tell me I was massive. I even got told my arms were huge! No wonder we get so fucked up with weight issues and societies expectations, eh?

Sorry for the rambling essay, just hope it might be helpful. I know PPs stories spurred me on. I never actually thought I'd get this far.

Oh, and I wear an Amber bead necklace. It used to be like a choker on me but now it hangs lovely and loose, and somehow doesnt get all tangled in my hair any more.

Glad you posted this, ive felt like that and blaming it on perimenopause but perhaps the MJ is partially to blame too. Will be looking up l-tyrosine now, thanks.

Did you find much change between 12.5 and 15? I dont know why I haven't wanted to go up to 15, I think maybe that feeling of being nowhere left to go but I dont get anywhere near the level of effects others do. My friend recently started and raves about lack of food noise, lack of hunger etc. I get slightly reduced hunger but I take it most because the weight has moved (albeit slowly) whereas prior to mounjaro it took me months to lose a few lbs so its definitely an improvement in losses.

PlodAlongPolly · 01/09/2025 18:15

Hi and welcome to you too @readytochange21 👋 sorry I’ve been a bit all over the place this summer, the kids have been keeping me busy! 😅 How are you getting on?

I have actually done something unusual this week that may be helping, ive tried eating more. Ive upped my calories and included some healthy carbs and the scales are very slowly moving so I am wondering whether things slowed down so much because I was maybe eating too little. I focused on low carb whereas this week ive added some in and upped my calories a bit too. So far its working. Its still slow but the scale has moved a teeny bit for multiple days, and prior to this ive yoyo'd the same pound for weeks, so hopefully this helps.

Who knew I may have had to eat more to lose more.

Oh no. I have had two orders in with Your Medicals since mid August - £800 worth. They have taken the money but last week emailed me saying they’d need to charge me extra for those orders or cancel. I cancelled but I’ve heard nothing from them since and they’ve not refunded the money.

tryingtobesogood · 02/09/2025 11:57

@0ncemorewithfee1ing i would keep an eye on it and do a charge back if the money doesn’t turn up soon.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 02/09/2025 12:33

@tryingtobesogood definitely.

PlodAlongPolly · 02/09/2025 23:23

Sorry @0ncemorewithfee1ing yeah I had to do a charge back with my credit card company as the only way to get a refund in the end (they didn’t respond to requests to cancel and be refunded) hope you can do the same if they fail to dispatch your orders

Thank you @PlodAlongPolly (for your kind comment about my graph and good wishes for the new term - sorry it has taken me do long to reply!) - yes I am back at work, two inset days then kids back for last three days this week. It has been a lot of work (it always is, and realistically can't do a lot of it before as classlist/timetables get shifted last minute so you risk it being a waste of time if you do) but I'm really enjoying being back...so far!

Yes, I did notice a subtle difference between 12.5 mg and 15 mg @readytochange21 and I've kept that. Although, I didn't go up in one step. Click on my chart to see what I actually did (slight blip down before going to 12.5 mg was simply due to using all of the 5th dose and not wanting to start a new pen to top up). I plan to be on MJ for at least another year so...hopefully I am still feeling it working then.

I have been monitoring how much I lose on average every four weeks (in lbs) since I started and this four week block that I have just finished is my best in a very long time. It has gone like this:

2.5, 1.8, 0.9, 1.4, 1.2, 0.5, 0.0, 0.8, 0.2, 0.8, 0.6, 0.2, 0.7, 0.6, 0.3, 1.3

So first time I have averaged over 1 lb a week since weeks (17-20), admittedly after a low average block but...it is ic nice to see it anyway after so long! I lost another 1 lb this week on top of last weeks 3 lbs, which was a surprise. Might stick here for weeks on end of course now though...
