Plodders Club 🐌

Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

I have got some with dates ending 2026. Simple online pharmacy do bundles of 3 and have been able to tell me the dates on them before sending them

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/08/2025 14:24

tryingtobesogood · 14/08/2025 14:00

Does it work though? I have just ordered my next pen early and might see if I can get one more order in to see me through the next 3 months. I will then review where the prices are and where I am financially.

so annoying as I know I need a year to get to goal

Do you mean wegovy? Yes, it works but isn't meant to be as effective I don't think.

Just checked simply and the 3 pack bundles are already sold out, sorry

tryingtobesogood · 14/08/2025 14:38

I bet. I’ve ordered a single pen from medicine marketplace. They don’t do bundles.

tryingtobesogood · 14/08/2025 14:47

tryingtobesogood · 14/08/2025 12:03

What are you doing? I want to speed things up from glacial to a snails pace so I am:

  1. using WW to record my food intake. I hate calories but find WW points less annoying.
  2. increasing my exercise from not a lot to some. To do this I need a new sun shade on the conservatory as it gets so hot in there and that’s where my treadmill is
  3. doing strength training to tone up
  4. drinking the water and eating the fibre so that I go 💩 regularly as I have been glacial there as well
  5. go up a dose to 10mg. I was ready this week but it’s my birthday next week and I don’t want SE to spoil it.

I am away towards the end of Sept and would like to have some regular losses between now and then.

@AlmostStopped i have found that dropping a size which allowed me to buy some nice new clothes has inspired me to keep going. It’s so nice to care about my appearance again

Well, I am going to have to put this plan in place now.

It was only 15mg I checked and they were sold out sorry should have clarified.

AlmostStopped · 14/08/2025 15:49

I've just ordered a week early (but for the first time opted for click and collect at asda pharmacy due to being away next week). I may try to order again before the end of the month...doesn't feel right though - panic buying isn't it!
Ugh. If this doesn't force me to get my act together and starting getting the absolute most out of this I don't know what will.

Doggymummar · 14/08/2025 16:28

Luckily Klarna lent me the money to order three more pens, with the ones already in the fridge that will take me to january and that will have to be it.

PlodAlongPolly · 15/08/2025 22:24

Hi everyone, such a shock about the news and prices going up on 1st Sept 😬

I was toying with the idea of switching to Wegovy but this has given me a wake up call! I don’t want to quit too early as the overall trend on MJ (though v slow) has been down and is good overall, so am going to put more effort in and make the next few months count.

I’ve just managed to order a 3x pen bundle this evening on yourmedicals.co.uk

They have a SAVE50 discount which worked at check out. I've not used them before, but the order seems to be processing fine. I won’t be able to afford the new prices so felt this is kind of ‘last chance’ to make it work! Need to get my head back in the game for a re-booted effort (like @tryingtobesogood described - an excellent plan! 👍)

PlodAlongPolly · 15/08/2025 22:32

And in mind of that… the first thing I’m going to tackle (and hopefully kick to the curb) is my not-so-helpful evening snacking habit (things like biscuits with tea or chocolate etc) after the kids have gone to bed. So as of yesterday evening I am making an effort to ignore the habit (am not hungry and don’t need it) in the hope of better losses! (and also better sleep) Putting it here for accountability! :)

RainbowZebraWarrior · 15/08/2025 22:51

Hi @PlodAlongPolly yes, the news has been rather a shock and I've also ordered a bundle from that same pharmacy.

I've finally gone onto 15mg and it's been a game changer for me. I feel like I'm finally getting the suppression that others have been talking about and I don't feel the need to snack at all. I'm pretty annoyed with myself that I didn't move up sooner (but then I also appreciate that I was worried about side effects, like a lot of us on here had)

I'm categorically not interested in moving to Wegovy when MJ has literally just started to work for me after a year of plodding. It's going to be difficult, but I'm looking at making financial cut backs and hoping it doesn't end up being such a jump, or at the very least is a temporary glitch.

Good luck to us all x

PinkSour · 16/08/2025 08:14

@RainbowZebraWarrior I looked at the bundle but it's 10, 12.5 and 15, how will you manage that if you're on 15mg?
Just seen that medicine market place's new price for 15mg will be £271 so that's it for me, priced out. Gutted.

Doggymummar · 16/08/2025 09:29

Yep. I'm priced out too I reckon. Particularly as I'm unemployed with no interviews lined up and currently zero motivation to look for a job. Hopefully I'll get my mojo back soon. I have a side hustle that is now my main hustle but only brings in about £100 a week so I can't pay my bills on that, but it is how I was affording it before. I hope things will settle down soon and we will know the prices, and can decide what to do. I'm paying £300 a month off my credit card for dental treatment I needed last year as well it has to be clear by April to avoid interest. It never rains etc etc

PlodAlongPolly · 16/08/2025 12:15

It’s so hard, I hope the prices will maybe come back down after a bit and adjust more sensibly as it’s already a lot £ to be on MJ. Sorry about the job and bills @Doggymummar 😢 are you far from target weight? (Sorry I can’t remember!) you too @PinkSour do you have far left to go? That’s great you’ve found your mojo on 15mg @RainbowZebraWarrior and same as you hoping the situation is a temporary glitch! If you come across and good money saving tips please come on and share. @PinkSour maybe from counting clicks? I ordered that one and am on 12.5 so was planning to split the doses with counting clicks and using my own syringes

Sorry I’m not a very good admin and don’t manage to reply to everyone! Juggling life and the kids it’s always a bit chaotic and I lose track (of lots of things lol 😅) so apologies to everyone I’ve missed ❤️🩷❤️ and solidarity to all us plodders for this right royal spanner in the spokes. Or maybe, is it grains of salt on the snail trail(?)

Don't worry! You sound lovely, hope all goes well. I have been the one faffing about coming off or staying on, and think the price changes might have made up my mind for me.

I got a 2 pen bundle. 1 15mg and 1 12.5mg. I'm actually feeling a little too much suppression on 15mg so I thought the 12.5 could be handy if I wanted to go briefly back down then back up to 15 again.

Hope that makes sense.

Doggymummar · 16/08/2025 14:24

I don't know how far I have to go really! I have been maintaining most of this year. BMI is 27, I would like to get to below 20 I think for wiggle room, but I'm taking each pound as it comes. According to BMI chart another 2 stone will get me to BMI 22. But I'm nearly 60, (56) and it might be too low

Thanks @Orangesandlemons77 ! 🫶

Here’s hoping us all success dropping more lbs while we can still afford the meds and for those continuing on at the higher prices too. It’s already given me a kick up the bum - better food choices today and is the 3rd night in a row of no evening snacking!

That’s great @Doggymummar you’ve made such great progress, yeah I would say just go for what feels right bmi wise

Well done on the no evening snacking for three days @PlodAlongPolly !

This price increase is certainly focusing my mind. Decided to give it at least another six months but hopefully with proper effort (prob calorie counting/macro monitoring) I will lose enough to justify it. Going away for three nights tomorrow so it will realistically be when I get back.

If I can fit into the pair of Boden jeans I tried on last night in six months I will be happy! They are labelled as the same size as the John Lewis jeans I currently wear (and are looking a bit knackered and ever so slightly loose now) but a whopping 6 inches smaller on the waist! I am slowly accepting I may need to buy some new jeans as it is going to be a long time before I fit in these...

PlodAlongPolly · 21/08/2025 14:49

Thanks @AlmostStopped and same here with the focus! Hopefully the Boden jeans will be a good motivator!

Is everyone getting their pen orders ok?

I got one through today from The Private Pharmacy Clinic, thankfully it was well wrapped and insulated with the cold pack as I missed delivery yesterday but it was still coolish when dpd redelivered (although the cool pack was melted)

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 21/08/2025 16:07

@PlodAlongPolly No, my usual provider, Oushk, just keep saying they have -7 or -12 and I can’t get hold of them. I’ve tried a couple of alternatives and they don’t say they’ve run out but my order never seems to proceed (despite them taking their £!

Orangesandlemons77 · 21/08/2025 16:27

I got cross and decided I was stopping MJ, and cancelled my Voy subscription, but then when I re-thought it found the only seemed to offer wegovy instead.

I went ahead with the consultation and it said my first pen would not cost anything, due to having referral credit and also they are offering 35% discount on wegovy.

Looking online at the next order, it also appears to be free so I am considering just continuing. I'm not sure really. I guess I will see if it has side effects.

It was also at the equivalent dose of my last order of MJ (1mg) so I thought, I will go head and order it and see that it's like. It's in the fridge now.

We're going on an all inclusive holiday next week and I am skipping my MJ dose anyway (naughty) and been titrating down my MJ anyway, only taking a low dose last week (5mg after being previously on 10-15mg during weight loss) and I'm kind of enjoying not having as much nausea and actually enjoying food for a change.

I don't want to try starting the wegovy this weekend in case it does have bad side effects and on holiday the few days after! The holiday can be a washout period perhaps.

I did catch myself thinking about toast and butter this morning out of no-where but was able to resist it! It felt weird after being off anything like that for so long. I just told myself I don't eat stuff like that anymore and had an apple (I find apples good with MJ, filling, sweet and don't cause cravings)

Anyway I am starting to think more about coming off these meds and maybe keeping the odd pens I have got in the fridge to kind of microdose if I really don't cope.

they have really long expiry dates anyway mine are mainly late 2026/27

Grecianrainbow · 21/08/2025 17:50

I’ve had my recent order approved so I should have enough to take me to the end of November and then hopefully the prices will have settled? I saw a post saying that pharmacies might be able to have a discount programme with the manufacturer so long as the discount is passed to customers so I’ve got my fingers crossed! As I still think I’ve got a good 6 months to get where I need to be.
