Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Hi all,

I think I've found my people!

I'm on week 55 (if I counted right) , I took my first dose of Mounjaro mid May last year. My start weight was 114.6kg (18st, BMI 42.6) and this week I'm 98.8kg (15st 7lb, BMI 36.7) which works out at a grand total of 0.6lb/week 😂

But... I know that without mounjaro I'd be heavier. I'm in a size smaller clothes and feel so much better. I work a mixture of day shifts and night shifts in the NHS which messes with your metabolism, and I stayed at the lower doses for probably too long, partly because I had terrible side effects when I tried wegovy, and partly because of cost. I'm 53 and on HRT, which I think makes it harder to shift excess weight. I also love a holiday, and during the time I've been on wegovy have been to Turkey, Morocco, Japan, and some weekend trips. I still enjoy a g&t (although rarely more than one these days), and if I want chocolate I have it. My weight loss is slow, but Ive been able to stick with it. It's hard when you've got a lot to lose, my usual diets go well for a couple of weeks then it's just all too restrictive or too daunting or holiday/night shifts bigger things up, so I give up.

I'm just going up to 12.5mg, hoping that upping the dosage will give me a bit of a jump start.

it does get frustrating seeing people losing much faster, I'm trying to enjoy the good bits and not think to much about other people, but I'm glad to have found this thread, I'm glad I'm not the only plodder 😎

@HostessTrolley You’re definitely not the only one! I’m losing on average less than 0.5lb a week - after six months, I’ve only lost just over a stone. You must be seeing real results with a 3st loss though? I’m sure it’s been frustrating, but looking back, 3st is a great achievement.

Doggymummar · 05/06/2025 19:24

Yep over two years for me and 6 stone. About half a pound a week I think but six stone makes a huge difference

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 05/06/2025 22:19

@Doggymummar Wow! Six stone - I bet it does! Well done to you and you give me hope, thank you.

Looking for some advice please - I’ve been off MJ for 9 days due to delivery problems. I injected on Tuesday - same dose as before - today I’ve had terrible diarrhoea but also big burps which sound like I’ll be sick. Not eggy though. This is a first for me - does anyone have any advice please? Seems to have come out of the blue. Thanks in advance for any help.

Doggymummar · 05/06/2025 22:26

It's usually down to what you've eaten. Have a look back over your food diary and see if you can identify your trigger. Mine is spinach

Ah~ interesting. We were at a pub quiz last night and I had half of a a very mild, innocuous and plain chicken curry - it did have spinach in it. I thought I’d had spinach before whilst on MJ (and curry) but I’ll keep an eye out. Really hope this is over soon though

Hi and welcome @HostessTrolley! Welcome to all other new joiners too, I missed a few pages of posts before when family life got a bit hectic.

Well done on your weight loss so far, that is a great result! We were chatting about overall downward trends at the beginning of the thread (despite slow and stalling losses) and it’s something I think about often, as same as you I know I would be heavier without MJ (and feeling down about it). Even at its slowest the overall trend on MJ is still downwards which is the main thing, plus other health benefits like the stabilising effect on blood sugars, reduced food noise etc :)

The day and night shifts must have some impact on metabolism so hopefully the MJ helps counter the effects of that. I hope your step up to 12.5 gives you a bump up, I had some nausea with 10mg but just a bit in the mornings. Yours and the 6 stone (wow!) loss that @Doggymummar has achieved is really inspiring to all us plodders! 😊
Onwards and downwards, we will get there in the end! 💪🌟

So I’ve had similar though different side effects which I think were due to dosing late. Due to a holiday I missed my usual dose day and jabbed 4 days late, I also got a noticeable bump of side effects for a few days with stronger nausea (have had it but only mild bouts on 10mg), fullness discomfort (after eating tiny amounts) and some food aversion. Waned on day 4 and back to normal now but it was v noticeable the increase of stuff and I think must have been down to jabbing late? Perhaps the meds shock the system more when there’s been a longer gap between jabs, even only a few days. Drinking more water helped a bit, felt like morning sickness!

Spinach is an interesting trigger, I’ve heard that our digestion has to work harder to break down dark green veg so maybe related if WLI slows digestion. Overall my veg consumption has taken a dive on MJ, just really off it! 😬 still having some but less and feels more of a chore 🙈

Really interesting to hear - and definitely food for thought, thank you. I worked out that it was closer to a fortnight since my last proper dose, so that may well be it. I did take my first ever dose of pepto bismol - do you think they HAVE to make it that vile? 🤢

I barely eat veg either, I have a terrible diet. It was Saag paneer from the Indian not sure it's a vegetable really, lol

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 11/06/2025 09:29

Well, I’m back in close communion with my loo. No spinach, but it seems to be day 2 after jabbing. It’s odd that it didn’t happen the first time I went up to 10. Hopefully it will sort itself out soon.

I have a vague worry (because I’m great at worrying) that it’s because this pen went astray before I got it and the ice pack was no longer cold. I’m sure that can’t be it though…

Doggymummar · 11/06/2025 11:09

Sorry to hear of your loo troubles. So long as the liquid is not cloudy apparently it's fine.

Thanks @Doggymummar that’s a real weight off my mind. If only this translated to weight off on the scales of doom! 6 months and I’m not at a stone and a half yet!

Thanks this is a great reminder to check the liquid isn’t cloudy. My last pen went astray too (cool packs completely thawed) so will check it before jabbing later.
Keep going Oncemorewithfee1ing, the scales of doom can be cruel, would weighing less often help? You’re doing great though, it’s still over a stone down from where you started! 🌟 I don’t know if it helps but I was in the same place as you for ages, not quite a stone and a half, and felt like forever with no change 🙈 We will get there, keep on plodding 🩷🐌

Going up to12.5 tonight and hoping for some loss over the next month. Close to getting into a new stone bracket, it’s 3 lbs away and tantalising me! 😂

How’s everyone getting on in the hotter weather?
Any wardrobe wins?

I’m finding my cropped trousers from last year are a little looser which is nice. Quite a way off being too loose but still, is nice that they’re not pinching anymore!

That would tantalise me too! Fingers crossed that the scales of doom are feeling benevolent!

Doggymummar · 16/06/2025 19:16

I'm always cold so the weather isn't doing it for me yet. Yesterday I had two jumpers on walking to town. Everyone was looking at me weird.

leklo · 17/06/2025 14:46

Hey Plodders, curious if people are plodding at lower doses or also at the higher doses ? I’m finding it slightly more effective now I’m on 10 mg. And through some research have found that actually in trials and stuff- people tend to lose most weight on the higher doses ? Is that right ? I dillidoddled around at low doses as I had some bad side effects when I first started and maybe that’s why I have been plodding a bit and had some stalls.

Oh no @Doggymummar sorry you’re feeling the cold so much! Is this all due to MJ or did you tend to feel the cold pre-jabbing? I really felt it a lot at the start of MJ for the first few months but it has eased off now.

Hopefully it lifts a bit for you this week as we’re due to get some scorching days ☀️

OP posts:
PlodAlongPolly · 17/06/2025 15:10

Both for me unfortunately! 😬 Well, actually the start saw the most losses (the first 4-6 weeks) then quickly plunged into plod territory! 😅

I’ve just moved up to 12.5mg so am hoping it might be more effective , yes I heard the same about people losing better on higher doses but then from all the anecdotal reports on MN people’s weight losses seem to vary hugely, with those sticking on the lower doses as it’s working great for them and they’re losing lots to those who need a higher dose to start losing and it comes off slowly.
That’s great if you’re getting better results on the higher doses! How are you getting on?
