TheSpoonyNavyReader · 27/02/2025 10:15

Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Mine arrived yesterday and is in the fridge as I am plucking up the courage!
DD has been on it nearly a month has lost 11 pounds

Yes there's so much expectation!

I'm currently drinking wine ( was trying to do 31 days free) having eaten chocolate cake and ice cream. Not going to plan here.
Jabbing tomorrow.

poppysocks81 · 01/03/2025 21:16

Hi everyone, can I join please? Just got authorised this morning so hopefully jab will arrive in the next couple of days.
SW 83kg
TW 65kg
I struggled with my weight all my life but peri-menopause is now making it seem impossible. I have so much food noise, but also genuine hunger that makes me feel ill if I don't eat straight away. Hoping to reduce the noise so I can focus on eating healthier!

ShineyGreen · 01/03/2025 21:52

@Poppysocks same here re: peri. It seems to make losing weight even harder than it was before 😭. I’m really hoping mounjaro gives me the oomph I need to shift about 5 stone 😮😮

Starting weight 108kg = 17 stone
BMI 37.3
Target 72.4kg = 11st 4lbs
BMI 25

This puts me right at the top of the healthy bmi category. I’ve been 12 st 4 in recent memory though and was happy there so I will see how I go. I just can’t bear thinking of how much I need to lose to be healthy.

MamaNewtNewt · 01/03/2025 22:03

Just took my first jab. I'm lucky (not sure that is the right word) that I had an accident a few years ago and was laid up for a few months so had to inject myself daily with the anti blood clot injection so I was hopeful it would be painless like that.

So excited to be started and so glad I have some company on the journey. Here's hoping we can all support each other along the way and reach our goals!

soupforbrains · 01/03/2025 22:04

My first pen arrived today. I used Lloyds online pharmacy it was extremely quick and efficient and they sent me a pack with included the pen, bin needles and plenty of wipes. FYI they don't specifically have to be called 'alcohol wipes' i think that's why some people have had difficulty finding them the anti-septic wipes sold for first aid kits and alike in boots are the same thing.

I'm summoning the courage to do the first injection, i'm a bit nervous. I'm not scared of needles but it's not like anyone loves them and I've never had to self inject anything before or even self administer a finger prick etc. so i'm being a weedy scaredy-cat. :(

I'm determined to do it tonight though.

MamaNewtNewt · 01/03/2025 22:10

@soupforbrains that might explain the difficulty, although you'd think the pharmacies at least would realise they are the same thing. The wipes I got were a pack of 100 so should keep me going for a while anyway. Honestly you don't even feel the injection, remember you aren't injecting into a vein. I really didn't feel it. Hopefully once you do it this first time you'll feel better about it.

soupforbrains · 01/03/2025 22:12

@MamaNewtNewt yes I know once i've done it this first time i'll be fine, i think i'm just over thinking it.

I'm excited though. Even if it doesn't do a huge job on the appetite suppression it's doing a brilliant placebo job on my motivation even before I've taken the first dose lol.

Justformounjaro · 01/03/2025 23:24

Well, I’m joining you all - I’ve taken my first dose tonight. Slightly needlephobic, I was really pleasantly surprised that you barely feel it.

I worked alongside a video on YouTube, made a couple of errors: hadn’t put my needle on properly so it didn’t prime, and I didn’t put the needle in so I could see when I’d got back to zero. I’ll know for next time. I now understand about counting clicks!

I’ve not told anyone apart from my doctor that I was planning this and I don’t know how I’ll get on without DP twigging something is up, but, hey ho, I know he would like me to lose weight so this is how I’m going to do it.

SW 15 st 0lbs
BMI 36
Goal weight - not sure about this. I literally have big bones (bigger measurement around my wrist than any of my male partners at 8.5 inches and a head that only fits into men’s hats) and read once that this would account for an extra 10% of BMI so ideally aiming for a BMI of 27.5 which is 11st 6lbs but I might run out of funds to do that on Mounjaro.

I ordered through Farmeci. Filled in the consultation on Wednesday and it arrived this morning. In preparation I bought a set of Vitafit scales which send readings directly to my phone. I’ve also downloaded the Shotsy app to motivate me after seeing screenshots on MN.

Here’s to some significant weight loss and no side effects 🤞

soupforbrains · 02/03/2025 01:15

I’ve also not told anyone. Except my son as he is almost 18 and lives with me so it is just easier that way.

I successfully did the injection. No techincal issues do all good. I bruise like a haemophiliac though so interested to see if it will bruise in the morning as that might make the choice of future injections sites more specific.

am doing some late night online shopping for collagen creams and supplements. I want to do everything I can to avoid loose skin once I’ve lost the weight.

Beebsta · 02/03/2025 01:43

Posting to join in. I started last week, so technically Feb but only one week. I took the shot on Sunday and am down 1.8kg in the first week. Monday was rough, I felt quite nauseous all day but since the have been ok.

i barely ate for the first couple of days and was a bit hungry when I went to bed. Food has increased the last couple of days so it’s not going to be a free pass, I am going to have to be conscious of what I eat the really benefit.

I went to a concert with friends last night so ate fried food and drank alcohol. My body is not happy about that this morning!

Starting BMI was 30. Looking and feeling very fat as up until I turned 40 I was within my healthy weight range, exercised regularly and ate mostly a healthy diet. Since then all that has gone out the window and now I am 20kg overweight.

i would love to consistently lose 1kg per week and focus on healthy eating and exercising more. Current exercise is limited to walking the dog 4 times a week for 40 minutes. I know I need to introduce weights and ideally more strenuous exercise.

Beebsta · 02/03/2025 02:07

I’m curious what it costs in the UK.

I am in australia and paid $289 for the 2.5mg Mounjaro pen. That’s roughly £150.

what day is everyone injecting? I’ve seen a few people mention being tired. I did my first one on Sunday but felt pretty rubbish on Monday, so I’m thinking maybe I should inject on Friday night or Saturday so that my work is not affected.

ShineyGreen · 02/03/2025 07:48

@soupforbrains good reminder about collagen- I had intended to get some too. Where have you ordered from?

Not told anyone other than my mum- I’m a single parent, two teens and a yr6 and they have no need to know. Bless my mum, she also offered to pay- I will be doing everything I can to find the deals! I would have been able to afford to otherwise. I won’t really have the time to promote my medexpress code the way I think some people do though. Would love to so she doesn’t have to pay as much but it seems full on? Or is there a good way do you think? I added my referral code to the thread here on MN but that’s it so far.

Me too, I noticed the placebo affect in the days before I took my first dose. It’s definitely real!

dancemom · 02/03/2025 08:44

Can I join?

Took my first injection today

SW 183.5 lbs
GW 150 lbs

Injecting was straight forward enough
Injected in my stomach
No effects so far
Looking forward to the "food noise" dropping

lardass88 · 02/03/2025 08:51

First weigh in after a week
Lost 2lbs. Not sure how to feel about that 😆 tho I've definitely noticed no food noise and less / no appetite. No side effects as such x

Choux · 02/03/2025 09:08

Gosh it's busy in here. I just wrote some advice on someone's thread and can in to add it here in case it's useful. I haven't edited it from the other thread so the way it's written might not make total sense:

I can't understand people planning their first dose. Mine was in my leg 15 minutes after it arrived as I couldn't wait to get started. The vast majority of people have no side effects so all the morning or night, full stomach or empty questions don't make any difference. Just find a time of day that works for you routine wise.

You have some very sound advice on this thread. Read it and remember it.

One thing I will say that I think hasn't been mentioned is that as you move up the doses you will likely find suppression is strongest on days 1-4. You may only eat 70% of the calories you think you should eat each day. Then as the drug wears off a bit you will find your appetite comes back a bit and it's totally normal. You may end up eating 130% of the calories you think you should eat those days. But over the week you are only eating the calories you need each day to lose weight. I always get my lowest weight at about day 4 each week at the end of the strong suppression. Here's a graph showing how much medication is in your body from weekly doses.

Good Luck!

Choux · 02/03/2025 09:09

Forgot to add the graph!

I also meant to say I made sure days 5-7 with the least suppression was the weekend so I could socialise a bit more easily. I told no one apart from a couple of family members and one friend who is now also on Mounjaro about it. I just told everyone I had 'decided to try and get healthy and used a low carb diet'. Avoid the judgement although most people didn't notice until I'd lost about 30 of the 50lbs I wanted to lose.

I got very into the stats of it all with Renpho scales which cost about £20 and measure all sorts like visceral fat and this app called 'My weight' where you add a goal weight and a goal date and it tracks how much of the time has been used against how much of the weight has been lost. I have been maintaining for a couple of months now (am still working on my fat v muscle metrics) so some of the stats don't make sense any more. I lost an average of 1.3lbs a week. I probably lost 1.5-2lbs on a regular week but then put a few pounds back on each time I had a holiday or weekend away. Easily lost again when back on the straight and narrow.

I'd like to join.... just injected this morning. Already been strength training and running but still struggling to lose any weight so hoping this will help. Have borderline high blood pressure so I'm hoping to reduce that too.
SW : 85kg BMI 31
Wanting to get my waist size down as that's where I carry all the weight which is not healthy! And be able to run faster Smile

One of my reasons for losing weight is to get better/faster at running too!

Shalalalaboomboom · 02/03/2025 10:52

Please can I join?

I'm at the stage of looking to start Mounjaro in March.

I have a BMI of 28.5
I'm 5' 3" tall and weigh 11st 7lbs
I really need to be 9st to fit my frame

I'm peri menopausal. I have very large boobs for my frame that hurt my lower back. When I've lost weight in the past they have been the first area to lose weight from but its got harder and harder to actually lose weight now. My stomach is uncomfortable and bloated and I'm starting to snore. I need to take action now and regain control of my body.

I want to start running again and it's just so uncomfortable trying to run with big boobs. All exercise just feels awkward. I'm not going to consider breast reduction at all, so weightloss is the option I want to go with.

I'm looking to start on Mounjaro but not sure what is a reliable and good site to order from, can anyone recommend a site?

Did you tell those closest to you that you were doing weightloss jabs? I want to tell my DH but I think he'll be worried for me and try to talk me out of it. Its my body and my choice but I'd feel better if he knew what I was taking in case I had a bad reaction.

Any other advice for a newbie would be appreciated 😊

MamaNewtNewt · 02/03/2025 10:52

I feel a little bit queasy this morning and am definitely a bit gassy. I didn't really feel hungry but I had that shaky feeling you get when you are really hungry. I had my breakfast (Greek yoghurt, honey, walnuts and grapes) and couldn't manage all of it, not sure if it's the queasiness or the placebo effect as I'm guessing 12 hrs on 2.5mg isn't enough to have an effect?

soupforbrains · 02/03/2025 10:54

@ShineyGreen I just ordered from Amazon.

I did a bit of reading online, some research publications to try and figure out what collagen seemed best. I got a tub of collagen body cream because topics application has shown positive results and then I bought two different collagen supplements. I bought a batch of 30 liquid shots because the research has shown that liquid collagen is absorbed best and is therefore most effective. But the liquid shots were EXPENSIVE. So I also bought some gummies.

I figure I'll apply the cream everyday to all the parts of me where I'm likely to lose a lot of size (belly, boobs and thighs). I'm going to take the liquid shots twice a week. And the gummies daily. But honestly I've no idea what's worth it. I read that the topical creams work on two things 1 collagen for the skin and 2 the act of rubbing in the cream stimulates circulation which can help.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 02/03/2025 11:26

Hi to all the new posters, its great to have so many other people on the journey

I did my first jab on Friday afternoon, the only side effect I have had is a tiny bit of nausea, I would describe it as butterflies when you are excited. My period started this morning of that can be an explanation.

I have absolutely no appetite, so much so that if Tom Hardy was laying in bed next to me and wanted to feed me chocolate dipped strawberries and a glass of champagne, I would not be tempted.

That’s great op! Mines been dispatched now (finally!).. said I’ll get it on 6th March ☺️

any ideas on the best location to inject (arm, stomach, thigh).. I’m not bothered about bruises or side effects as much, mainly want to make sure I’m getting the most out of it
