Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

I went to bed straight after injecting last night and had the briefest feeling of nausea before I fell asleep. I’ve had a bit of a headache all day today and I’ve not felt like mindless snacking but I was hungry mid afternoon so had some nuts. We had a stir fry for dinner and I hope I didn’t overdo the chilli to cause any issues tonight.

I’ve taken some physillum to pre-empt constipation and have had a drink on the go all day.

I’ve been reading about upping protein and have no idea how to achieve the levels suggested every day. I don’t eat huge quantities of meat and you would have to eat loads of lentils or whatever to get to the recommended amount.

TriangleLight · 02/03/2025 23:31

Protein ideas. And eat much more than you’d think

** the best protein sources are fish, white fish, tuna, crab, prawns, smoked haddock. Yellow stickers are your friend to save you from going bankrupt! Also venison steaks, pork, lean meat. Turkey rashers or bacon medallions are good for breakfast, maybe in a pitta with tomatoes. Light babybels. Gammon steaks are also great for calorie/protein goodness. Make chilli or bolognese with turkey or pork mince and everyone will eat it, it’s good! Also doner seasoning packets, I get them from Amazon, and make kebabs with turkey or pork mince, 0% Greek yoghurt, salad in pittas or wraps

OkyDoke · 03/03/2025 09:07

I took my first dose on Saturday afternoon, haven't had many side effects at all yet - I have been very thirsty. I haven't felt hungry at all since Sunday morning, will see how today goes!

I didn't have breakfast on Sunday but had red lentil and veg soup for lunch and then some noodles and a couple of spring rolls last night. I'm at work now and have greek yoghurt with oats, chia seeds and raspberries for first food at some point soon!

Justformounjaro · 03/03/2025 09:19

It's eating the amount of protein that I wonder how I’ll manage as I tend to only have one portion of meat or fish a day. So, if the recommendation is between 0.8 to 1.5g per kg of weight, I’d need to be eating around 80 to 140g per day. A 150g chicken breast has around 36g or a salmon fillet is 23.8g but I’d need to load up with a whole of other food to get up to even 80g. The Greek yoghurt I normally eat is 3.6g per 100g, an egg is 6.3g, 1/2 a can of beans is 10g, 1/2 a can of green lentils is 7.3g. It will need a bit of thinking about to balance protein with calories.

I have bought high protein yoghurt, cottage cheese, and protein powder, and I’m sure it’s possible, but it’s far removed from what I normally eat (and I don’t think I have a terrible diet currently if you ignore the biscuits, chocolate, and wine 😀).

I had an awful night last night. Violent vomiting. I didn't overeat at all and don't think I ate anything not advised.

Started a separate thread for advice because I'm now worried that if I eat it will happen again. So really hoping to find someone else who had the same experience and can reassure me it was just teething no pains.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night. I hope you’re feeling better today x

I hope that you feel better soon.

What did you eat yesterday?

I have had a bit of diarrhoea as I ate 1 roast potato which was cooked in goose fat, I should have just stuck with the chicken and vegetables.

I made a Biscoff cheesecake yesterday and did not even want a piece of it, everyone else was saying how wonderful it was, just looking at it was making me feel sick.

I was the same the day after injecting - was violently sick then slept for 2 hours - I've been fine since though but have stuck to low fat just in case - hoping it doesn't happen again after the 2nd injection

MrsMariaReynolds · 03/03/2025 10:34

Am having a weird experience of having feelings of hunger but when I sit down to eat, I can barely finish a smallish portion of anything. It is amazing. Even when eating exclusively low carb or low cal foods on previous weight loss attempts, I'd be tempted to go back for seconds, even thirds in some cases.

Other than that, no other side effects. Still no burps or nausea. Fingers crossed it continues 🤞

soupforbrains · 03/03/2025 10:48

@TheSpoonyNavyReader we were out for a big family event so it was a roast dinner but I ate two thin slices of roast pork (about the size of bacon medallions and with no fat) some veggies. I did have a toast potato which I imagine will have been goose fat roasted so perhaps that's the problem.

But that was all I ate all day.

Going to just be very cautious today. I have some plain grilled chicken breast in the fridge and will start with just a couple of crackers to test the water and then eat the chicken if I am hungry later.

And going to buy milk of magnesia now an hope that does its usual settling and soothing job.

Tranquilitybaby · 03/03/2025 11:02

Hope you feel better soon. If that was your only meal of the day, maybe that was why, it’s hard to know isn’t it. Try and up your protein today and eat little and bit more often and see.

Tranquilitybaby · 03/03/2025 11:03

How are you all approaching your eating now you’re on injections?

I east reasonably high protein anyway, is the carb tracings in the evenings that have always been my issue and why I struggle to lose weight.

I can’t decide whether to just calorie count or maybe join Team RH as seen they do a GLP 1 plan but not sure what it’s all about.

ShineyGreen · 03/03/2025 11:25

Sorry that a few of us are having unwelcome side effects. I have had just the slightest of headaches, which is pretty normal for me anyway, but nothing in the way of positive side effects. After injecting Friday night I thought that I wasn't hungry much on Saturday- but yesterday my appetite was the same as ever 😱

And same today :( Boo!

The only side effect I have had is diarrhoea once, I have got full appetite suppressant and when I eat I can only eat small amounts.

Today I will be having a chicken breast and salad for dinner, I had Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast, and have drunk 2 litres of water already, go into our home gym tonight, I never venture in there until now to do some weights.

Just waiting on my first dose to be delivered now - good luck everyone.

Sleepeazie · 03/03/2025 11:56

Same @TheSpoonyNavyReader

i had a Normal sized piece of homemade cottage pie and carrot and swede mash for tea last night - about 6pm. I had to eat it in 2 sittings (i’d normally have had seconds 😂 which I’d decided I needed before I’d had the first).

today I’ve had 2 coffees and half a protein trek bar around an hour and a half ago.

I walked the 5k to my first job this morning (as is normal) and I’d usually be chomping at the bit for my lunch, as soon as I got there (and so have it!). Wasn’t even on my radar, I had to make myself eat the half a trek bar.

I do however, feel very energetic and as I mentioned yesterday, my brain is clear! It’s a bit lonely in my head today, as normally I’m planning a million projects, perusing over random questions I get and singing to a juke box in my brain. It’s like my thoughts are all linear and related ! Not sure how I feel about this side effect tbh

My mind has been a lot clearer, no chaotic thoughts going on. I do have ADHD not medicated though, but honestly the difference is vast.

dancemom · 03/03/2025 12:03

I can't believe the effect it's had so far! It was instant suppression for me and just the occasional wave of nausea so far.

I'm not interested in food, have only been eating because I know I need to and the thought of chocolate or sweets makes me feel ill.

Yesterday I had overnight oats with berries and only managed 2/3. Then I had some plain chicken breast and a kiwi for fibre for lunch. Dinner I had 2 spring rolls with salad.

Today I had yogurt with granola and blueberries and will probably have scrambled egg for lunch but honestly could happily go without.

Such a strange sensation 😳

Sleepeazie · 03/03/2025 12:05

@TheSpoonyNavyReader i suspect I have ADHD too, my 16 year old has just been diagnosed with the inattentive type, and he’s my carbon copy personality wise.

I’ve adapted my world to suit my personality (in particular work, where I’m self employed and work in a job where my mind can freely wonder constantly!).

Today I am bored in my own company 😂. I don’t like it.

ShineyGreen · 03/03/2025 12:07

Envious of all the appetite suppression going on! And the clear head- @TheSpoonyNavyReader I am also an unmedicated ADHDer (no H though here)- awaiting titration for meds though and I had hoped that Mounjaro may have helped.

If you are only on 2.5mg of mounjaro remember that is the starting dose and some people only notice a change when they go up the doses, just like with all medications.

You will get there.

I haven't had any side effects- maybe a bit tired but that's quite normal too! . No huge appetite suppression either although I definitely haven't felt much urge to snack so that's good! I shall await and see how I fair today at work... it's usually the 4pm munchies that gets me. Quite happy to lose weight slowly so I'm happy with that so far.

I’m planning to calorie count and eat pretty much as normal, but watch portion size and wine intake

I use the James Smith Academy free calculator which comes out accurate to what PT recommended in oast, so just over 2000 calories and big wad of protein as I exercise a lot and am tall (and obviously fat!)

im hoping the drug helps my resolve with meal planning and prep, and quitting regular wine.

I lost weight just by doing this before, but my brain is fried by a horrendous time, and I feel I need the boost. Hopefully it will work!

jagging tomorrow as out all day today

Flipper1234 · 03/03/2025 14:00

No side effects so far phew! Wasn’t hungry this morning - that’s a first! Did a yoga class and had enough energy. Had overnight oats with pineapple and mango from Starbucks for a very late breakfast after the class - enjoyed it but wasn’t looking for more food afterwards - amazing!! In meetings til 4:30 so think I’ll just have an early dinner. I can’t say how amazing it is to not be thinking about food all the time.

@soupforbrains i hope you feel better soon.

Overjiggly · 03/03/2025 14:55

Hi all, hope its OK if I join. Took a while for mine to be approved as my picture didn't upload the first time but now it's been approved and I will hopefully be jabbing Thursday.

SW 18st 4lb
Mini GW 14st
End GW 11st 7lb (can't quite imagine this yet)

I'm a bit nervous about side effects and sorry to those who have already suffered. More nervous it won't work for me I'm so sick of being overweight.
