Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

@Lollzi86 could you not have a glass of wine? I was amazed that my first trip to the pub resulted in me drinking half the amount I normally would. I had wine at the weekends ( rugby) and struggled with two glasses let alone the bottle (and some) I normally have on a big night . Felt much more “ mindful” and the need to keep drinking wasn’t there.

I could have but I wanted to go alcohol free until I go away next weekend to Portugal for a few days! Plus it’s my jab day in the morning and didn’t fancy feeling really tired and not knowing how my body will be on booze and the jab. Managed to not cave and have one and am feeling a lot better! Oh that sounds good I’d quite like to be a cheaper date and only need 2 glasses rather than a bottle 😂

I’m having a really rough day. ☹️

ive not been sick yet but the last two weeks thats happened after I’ve gone to bed in the middle of the night. But I’ve felt horrid all day bloated, bellyache, gurgling stomach and gurgling bowels. So much gas (both ends) and a lot of my burps have been swiftly followed by retching/gagging. It’s genuinely a miracle ive not been sick.

I’ve eaten 6 dry crackers all day. Drinking plenty of water. But it’s been worse than my last two Sundays side effects wise.

full disclosure my dad got taken to hospital last night and is very touch and go so that has been very stressful which could be contributing and my period is due to start the next day or two so that could also be contributing. But regardless I’m feeling really really crappy and sorry for myself.

Oh no. Poor thing. I think maybe you need to eat a bit more though however unpleasant it is 6 dry crackers will not sustain you 😭. Have you eaten a lot of red meat or eggs in the past few days? I found the sulphur burps went away once I cut those things out and had white meat or fish only. Hope your dad makes a full recovery xxxx

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 17/03/2025 03:38

@soupforbrains oh no, that sounds horrible. I hope you feel better tomorrow, and your dad is ok..

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 17/03/2025 03:42

I'm having a rubbish night's sleep after jab 1. I did go yo bed at 10pm which is pretty early for me, but I was tired. Woke up at 11.12pm thinking it must be 4am! And woken up several times since.

I was really unsure what to eat last night after jabbing, and was working about sickness etc, so ended up just having greek yogurt and fruit. Maybe the fear of sickness acts as a weight loss aid in itself!

@soupforbrains sorry to hear about your dad. I had come on here this morning hoping you had a better night after jabbing.

I've only had the upset tummy once so far exactly as you describe, burping, gagging and the rest so you have my sympathy.

@Sweetlikeblueberries micro dosing is really interesting I wonder if it would work for maintenance in the future.

@TheSpoonyNavyReader thanks for the new thread x

TryingMJ · 17/03/2025 06:51

@soupforbrains sorry to hear about your dad.

@TheSpoonyNavyReader thanks for the new thread, I’ll go and check in over there.

On the subject of telling others- only my DP knows, he’s been very supportive and he jabs me! He has recently lost a couple of stone himself but just with his own willpower, he’s the type who can just decide one day “right I’m off the chocolate and crisps” and then just do it. I did think maybe I’d tell my mum after a few months if/when she comments “ooh you’ve lost weight” “yes, I’ve been on mounjaro”. But the other day she started telling me about her hairdresser is on “that mounjaro”. She wasn’t exactly disparaging about it but I could tell she thought it was all a bit of nonsense. The ironic thing is it would probably work well for her! She’s one of these weight obsessed 1980s Mum types, she’s not particularly slim herself but always comments on others’ weight, what people are eating, is always on and off weight watching and slimming world, always had weight watchers magazine etc. She has offered to pay for me to join weight watchers many times. But she’s a secret snacker, I don’t think she actually realises she’s doing it, she’s always got a handful of nuts every time she goes through the kitchen, a couple of the kids’ sweets if they’ve been to a party, a little bite of leftovers from the fridge etc etc all that I’m sure she doesn’t log. She’s always telling me how she’s lost 5lbs or half a stone but always looks the same.

Anyway that’s gone off a bit of a tangent about my Mum! My sister is slim, a controlled eater and also runs. She has no kids though. I just don’t know whether I’d tell them I’m on the jabs. On one hand I feel like it’s no one’s business and they’d be judgemental. But on the other hand I feel like I want to be like “see, it wasn’t my fault, I was trying as hard as I could but I couldn’t do it without medical intervention. See what I can do with that bit of help?”

Shalalalaboomboom · 17/03/2025 07:25

@soupforbrains

So sorry to hear about your dad. Keeping fingers crossed for him.

Sending a virtual hug your way.

CatsChin · 17/03/2025 09:27

MJones90 · 14/03/2025 18:15

@CatsChin how are you doing? I did my first shot today, at 1.75mg or 30 clicks. As I was terrified. Not sure how I feel, I was tired before it and now just feel a bit weird as well as tired still. I think I’m thinking about it too much. I’m still feeling like my belly is a bit hungry and am due dinner soon. So can’t see that it’s working yet, if I still feel same tomorrow I might use the other half of the dose and do another 30 clicks?! How have you been on half dose?

Hi! I'm on day 6. I've been okay - at first, I definitely felt strong nausea/like morning sickness, and it was pretty unpleasant but no problems with d or v, which I was anxious about.

It took about 12 hours before it properly kicked in. I was SUPER conscious of it for the first few days but then stopped worrying so much.

I've had really good suppression and lost 6lb the first week. I was actually hoping to lose very slowly as I've had problems losing hair in the past with diets! Ah well.

Is there a microdosers thread yet?!

Loveab123 · 17/03/2025 10:05

I'm considering micro dosing. I've got a busy couple of weeks in work coming up and I really can't feel unwell. Do you jab at the weekend then during the week? I also noticed I was very hungry by around day 5/6 so this may help.

Mantha78 · 17/03/2025 11:29

Good morning MJ family!!
I did my second jab yesterday and when I took the needle out some liquid came out 😔
Has anyone had the same experience? I am worried that it will effect my loss this week 😔

As this thread is nearly full I have started a new one.

Its so lovely that we can all chat, and not feel judged for our use of WLI

Just reposting for anyone that's missed it- as this thread is nearly full @TheSpoonyNavyReader has kindly started a new one for us to hop over to! :-) Well done with everyone's losses this week, i had to get DH to hide the scales as I am WK1 Day 6 and was weighing daily which was not helping me!! He also doesn't know I'm on MJ and spotted the bruise on my thigh so I'm going to have to try the stomach next time and hope I don't bruise - if anyone has any tips for avoiding bruising then let me know! Thank you! xx

BeaTwix · 17/03/2025 17:10

Sorry to hear about all the people having SEs.

@Mantha78 don’t worry about a bit of liquid coming out I’m sure it looked like a lot but wasn’t! I gave my first dose intradermally by accident (embarrassing as I’m an HCP) and it’s definitely working or I have the most amazing placebo effect!!

Monday has always been my weekly weight day so although I’m drugging myself on Wed I’m going to weigh on a Monday.

SW - still too huge to type (BMI just under 40)
Weekly loss - 3.9kg 😮
CW - not ready to admit to the number
GW 73kg (BMI 25)

Some of this weight loss will be menstrual cycle related. But it’s still a really big boost as a starting place. Hopefully I will continue without much in the way of SEs.

The effect on my food behaviour has been amazing. I was that person with a little jar of salad dressing in my lunch box today!! Never done that before.

Yes I had the same on 2nd and 3rd jab. First one was fine. Suppression was good after 2nd jab so I'm hoping this week will be the same. Think I'm going to inject into thigh next time to see if that's any better.

Hi All. Just catching up on the thread as work has been manic this week. I brought my weigh day forward a day as DH and I are going away for the night and I like to weigh in the morning - I’ve lost 4lbs, which I’m really chuffed with as I seem to be going fairly steady. One thing I do need to be careful with is just making sure I’m eating enough as I want to form long term healthy habits. I actually got told off by MyFitnessPal one day! I’m going to try protein shakes, as I’m finding it difficult to get enough protein as a vegetarian. If anyone has any tips I’d love to hear them.

SW: 18st 7lbs
CW: 17st 9.3lbs
Total Loss: 12.1lbs

MrsMariaReynolds · 20/03/2025 09:32

Morning all, it's jab #4 for me today, and week 3 weigh in.

Sadly, another disappointing week for me with less than a pound's loss to report--but put in perspective, my average is about 2lbs a week, so 6 lbs off in three weeks isn't too bad. And my period returned yesterday for the first time in a few months, so I'm a bloaty, tearful mess. Peri menopause is a "joy" ladies. 😂 Good luck to those of you who have yet to reach that milestone...

On a happier note, only 22 lbs to go until I hit goal #1 (leaving the "obese" BMI category and into "overweight" land...)

Good luck to all you new starters and those continuing your journeys 👍

Been great to read these threads. Hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m telling absolutely nobody IRL as I am not up for the discussion or my personal reasons for doing this.
Starting weight 13st 3
Desired weight 11st (maybe 10st 7)

First jab today and shocked at not being able to feel the needle go in- but it definitely did!

Good luck to all.

BVsMum · 21/03/2025 20:39

I took my first jab today. Hope I can join the March group

Carblover · 22/03/2025 09:10

First ŵeigh in today
SW 248lbs
CW 240lbs
Not ready to set a GW yet
Total Loss 8lbs

which I'm obviously delighted with considering with the first dose I wasn't even sure I'd given myself anything😂,
I have had suppression straight away and no SE, but know that may change as doses increase and first loss tends to be bigger then settles down.
I hope this is the start of a successful sustainable weight loss journey, I have a positive feeling MJ is my best hope of achieving this

MJones90 · 22/03/2025 19:53

Also wanted to give update for any microdosing. Just done my first week which was at 1.25mg and 5lb down(i normally react badly to things at tiny doses so was careful!). Virtually no side affects (bit of acid reflux nothing compared to pregnancy), but definitely still felt a lot of hunger mid week and needed lots of willpower. So I did second jab yesterday, at 50 clicks (maybe 2mg). No side effects so far but much better suppression. Forcing myself to eat today all I’ve had up til now (8pm) is a sandwich at lunch! Definitely will be doing 2.5mg next jab and hope I’ll be good thereafter!

MJones90 · 23/03/2025 21:50

@soupforbrains I hope you’re okay and your dad is okay :( x

IncessantNameChanger · 23/03/2025 21:51

My first pen came on Friday. Not sure when to start as I have a big meeting on Tuesday. Weirdly starting coincides with me being very stressed and I have lost my appetite because of that. People have commented on my weight this week.

I'm starting because I'm a size 20, 5 4 and weight 15, 7 with high BP and sleep apnea. About three years ago I started to get odema for no found reason. I want to shift the odema which saw me put two stone on in six weeks. Ideally getting down to 12.5 stone so three stone. I'm not fused about being thin. Just want to be healthy
