I was walking around yesterday and thinking that hm something feels different...my thights don't get stuck behind each other any more. Really looking forward to a no-chub-rub summer!

goodgodlemon · 01/03/2025 08:09

Just checking in with some stats. Week 6 day 2 and I took first 5 mgs yesterday after disappointing week on 3.75. I say disappointing but I had no side effects and lost 0.6 kg so ok really.
SW 88.9
CW 83.5
But NSV I did lose 2 years off my metabolic age on the fancy machine in the gym😊
Felt a bit nauseous last night after the 5mg and definitely feeling more suppression.
This thread (and generally all the WLI threads) is a brilliant source of support and I love reading about everyone's experiences - thanks everyone for sharing. Plus the sun is out ☀️☀so I'm feeling extra positive!

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 01/03/2025 08:12

Well, I did a little hopeful hop into the scales this morning and have lost another pound or so! Hooray! So that’s 10.6lb lost after 5 jabs.

Does anyone else have a nagging worry about how it will be when the jabs are done? I’’m only at 20% loss achieved so I have a way to go. I’ve chosen a goal weight that is pretty relaxed (I’d still be in overweight BMI), but I look at the threads of people who are nearing their goals and they seem to be eating so restrictively.

BraveStarr · 01/03/2025 08:16

Well done on your loss so far goodgodlemon.

I was feeling quite dejected the past couple of weeks, as I had no loss, in fact, I gained 1kg despite eating well (1200 calories) and exercising more.

I weighed myself yesterday, and I have lost another 3kg! Feeling motivated again now!

Was previously a size 18, was very happy to fit into some new size 14 trousers at the weekend!

SW 98.8kg
CW 86.4kg
GW 75kg

Hope everyone is having a good week

HeavyHeidi · 01/03/2025 08:25

@IBloodyLoveMyBlanket When I have previously dieted myself down to a reasonable size, I usually manage to stay there for a while, before weight starts creeping up again. So I don't expect to pile weight on immediately. I can certainly see that eating smaller portions is just as satisfying and I can also cut down on alcohol - has an amazing effect on my skin as well.
But I am not sure I will ever be 'done'. Will probably need a small dose for years to come.

NikkiC1975 · 01/03/2025 08:31

Morning everyone. W9 D1 for me and this weeks loss is 1.3lbs. I’ve slowed right down as I’ve moved up slowly to 5mg which is ok, but I got my period yesterday. Question- how much heavier can it make you weigh?

Zempy · 01/03/2025 08:33

I had a bad day yesterday food wise, but that was expected as I was day 10 since my last jab (changing jab day) Horrible to feel that compulsion and hunger again. No wonder I gained so much weight, feeling like that all the time.

So this was reflected in my Saturday weigh in. I gained a pound. Still lost 22 pounds since starting Jan 8 and I am so happy with the loss overall.

I agree with @HeavyHeidi , I will probably do a maintenance plan to prevent creeping weight gain once I reach my goal.

And do you think you’ll need a small does because there’s something intrinsically wrong with the way you process food? Or because you feel your willpower will always need shoring up?

HeavyHeidi · 01/03/2025 08:35

@NikkiC1975 google says that a fluctuation of about 1.5-3kg more than your usual body weight is nothing to worry about.

I know this wasn’t directly addressed to me but responding anyway in case it’s useful.

I think I lack the hormonal balance that people who eat “normally” have. It’s possible to describe that hormone imbalance as being a “lack of willpower” I guess, so the answer to your questions is yes, and yes, for me.

HeavyHeidi · 01/03/2025 08:41

@IBloodyLoveMyBlanket I think there's something wrong with me. I am addicted to food, just like alcoholics or gamblers. I wake up thinking what I will eat and how not to eat all the things I want to eat, because I don't want to gain more weight. I see food and I need to snack. And when I start eating, I eat too much. (Now luckily I have always preferred healthy foods and don't like junk, but healthy food still has calories.) It's this constant food noise, every hour of every day. And now it's gone.

I have talked to some naturally slim friends, and my slim DH, and they don't think this way. They all say that they don't think about food unless it's time to eat, then they eat a reasonable portion and don't think about food again until next mealtime. If that's 'normal' then MJ makes me normal.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 01/03/2025 08:45

That’s interesting, Zempy, thanks. I never ate because I was hungry (as in a sensation in my stomach, I think of ‘mouth hunger’ as a craving), always because I wanted to.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 01/03/2025 08:49

Yes, Heidi, I was the same pre—MJ, thinking about food constantly. I’ve been like this as long as I can remember. I wish there was a simple blood test that could diagnose this, wouldn’t that take so much of the emotion out of it all? Then we’d know whether we (or our parents) have taught our bodies/minds to behave in this way, or whether it was always likely to happen once people with our make up were exposed to junk food.

NikkiC1975 · 01/03/2025 08:50

Well that would bring me almost to my pre- holiday goal so 🤞 I weigh a bit lighter in a couple of days 😂

Seaitoverthere · 01/03/2025 08:53

I have gained 1.5lb but I did a few weeks ago and I think that may well be a pattern I follow which is fine as long as it does the going down bit again!

I’ll probably need to stay on it for maintenance in some form. I think as things become out of licence things will become cheaper and hopefully the tablet form will work ok in testing and be released at some point.

W8 D7 and have finally broken the 70kg barrier and am 69.8kg. Last recorded weight in the 60s was September 2019.

SW 79.6kg

Jabbing the bonus dose plus a bit more from my 2.5mg pen tomorrow, hoping to get at least 3.5mg out of it.

Read an article this morning about how the latest Hollywood trend is micro dosing glp1s not for weight loss, but to reduce inflammation and brain fog. Didn’t specify how much, but mentioned about half the ‘starting’ dose.

MananaMananaPenelope · 01/03/2025 09:13

@HeavyHeidi I became like that. I never thought like that before I gained weight. Ive always planned the week’s food ahead in my mind because I’ve had a food delivery since it become a thing. I cook healthy food from scratch for 90-95% of the month with the odd exception. Tonight for inside I’ve bought a M&S lamb biriani but I’ll add my own spinach and mushroom side dish.

For the last year I have thought about food constantly, I haven’t eaten more I don’t think - weight static too, but food has occupied a lot of my thinking time and I’ve felt massively massively deprived. Reducing my calories to 1000 a day was inconceivable. I was 😱 when my consultant suggested it.

I’ve done it on MJ.

owly321 · 01/03/2025 09:17

I was exactly the same with the food noise. It was constant, and felt I was always trying to fight against it. I hadn't heard the term food noise before looking into WLI but it explains it so well. And I couldn't believe there was another way. I'm also scared for the post-MJ time and terrified I'm passing it on to my kids.

I completely agree with you. @IBloodyLoveMyBlanket and @HeavyHeidi , that’s my ‘issue’ too. I have been reading lots about when people get to goal and think I'm going to need maintenance, albeit hopefully a lower/ less frequent dose. Still a way to go for me but I’m reading and watching everyone’s thoughts and experiences with interest and hopefully we can all help each other!

Hottoffeesauce · 01/03/2025 09:22

Started 24th January on 2.5 for a month. Yesterday was my second 5.0 jab. When I pulled out the needle, there was some clear fluid on my skin. Has this happened to anyone else?

Jins · 01/03/2025 09:25

I’m slightly different from a lot of you in that I don’t think about food much at all and that’s part of the problem. It’s mindless eating that has got me into this mess coupled with a complete inability to recognise that it’s time to stop eating. MJ has reduced the mindless eating but I’m still struggling a bit with stopping when I’m full.

I expect to have to stay on a maintenance dose and I’m happy with that as I’ve had positive health benefits from MJ that I’m prepared to pay for.

MJalltheway · 01/03/2025 09:26

I'm nervous but hopeful about post-MJ life. I have lost all the weight before doing intermittent fasting and kept it off for a year until Covid lockdowns hit then eventually stopped fasting, started comfort eating and put weight back on. I'm doing IF rather than calorie counting again now and have never felt deprived doing it. I still eat very normal meals but have drastically cut snacking. I don't really drink anyway so that's no different.

Hugely motivated by wanting to have a healthy retirement. I want to be able to still travel and enjoy life without constantly being uncomfortable and having painful joints.

Anyway, I'm doing it this morning, I'm about to go do my first Davina exercise session 💪 haven't got going on exercising yet because I've managed to be ill twice in the last 5 weeks!!

Thelittlestranger · 01/03/2025 09:40

Enjoy Davina 😊

The only time I haven't had food noise was when I was low carbing - when it was the Atkins diet, 20 years ago. Completely removed all food noise whatsoever - and 'I think' that's because your blood sugar remains more stable. Ate like that for about two years happily. Then I got pregnant and had to eat ALL the food to stop the nausea and never managed to find my way there again.

I can see maintenance being part of my life forever in some form, for sure.

I had the first person say to me that I'd lost weight during the week. My husband can see it, but he knows. All my clothes are loose, and my bras. It's a good problem to have. Going to wait another 9lbs until I buy any though - spring/summer wear here I come.

Dog walk today - and 40 mins weights to complete my 4 sessions this week. I am struggling to lift as heavy, but my plan once I'm at goal is to start upping my protein as I up my cals to maintenance to help with that. My lifting belt is more comfortable than it has been in years 😁

BlueLimes · 01/03/2025 09:58

I’ve had very little suppression this week, so jabbed a day early and had 6mg. New pen arriving next week and I’ll start 7.5mg

have a great day everyone ☀️

UnderandOverwhelmed · 01/03/2025 10:13

I'm similar to others in that i ate because I was mouth hungry, not stomach hungry and thought about food all the time. I was the heaviest I've ever been starting this, but I've lost the same 4/5 stone over and over since I hit 30. Sometimes I've kept most of it off for a year or so, but it always creeps back on. This latest gain is from pregnancy and then baby and toddlerhood! Finding every day so hard that I was eating toast all day and chocolate and cake in the evening. I think ill need maintenance for life to stay in control once I get there.
