@UnderandOverwhelmed have you been measuring? The weeks where I don’t lose much seem to be the ones where I lose inches!

I’m one of the naughty people who used an ad blocker and I’m finding MN a complete pain with all the ads. I’m only putting up with it for this thread!

timeformetolose · 05/03/2025 08:45

I accidentally pressed down before I had twisted to 1 and loads of liquid squirted out so no idea how much of my 5ml dose I got whoops. Hopefully it will still be a good week and I will be more careful next week. Anyone else ever done the same?

MJalltheway · 05/03/2025 09:36

@timeformetolose could you have twisted a few more clicks to get back up to 1 or does the pen not allow it?

Ive got a terribly upset stomach again today, had the same last Wednesday. It lasted for the day then passed so hoping it will be the same. Making sure to drink lots of water.

Zempy · 05/03/2025 09:48

I’m not losing any weight, but I haven’t 💩 for about four days now.

I drink so much water, taking stool softeners and dulcolax. I think I will have to take two dulcolax tonight. Grim.

I measured my waist this morning, and it's nearly 3cm smaller than last time, but that was weeks ago, so i don't think it's changed this past week. I went up to 55 clicks of the 5mg today, annoyingly it's my 5th dose but there's still loads left in the pen.

asparagusfearne · 05/03/2025 10:00

Another lurker over here, hi 👋 I've been enjoying the support on this thread and following everyone's journeys.
Well done on all the losses, big and less big!
I'm week 8 and down 1st 9
(4x2.5mg, 1x3, 3x3.75)

I'm not sure if this is a side effect as I haven't seen any other mentions- getting hot in the night?
Like many others I'm feeling the cold most of the time, go to bed cold (my house is quite cold) wearing long PJs and sometimes a hot water bottle.
Without fail, I'll wake up between 2 and 5 really warm, take off my pyjamas but still feel hot and take a while to get back to sleep.

Pre MJ this tended to happen toward the end of my cycle (plus getting clammy), but it's been daily for at least a month now. I'm 34 with a regular cycle.

Anyone else experiencing this sort of thing or have any insight into the temperature regulation issue which might be making people cold too?

AbiEmJay · 05/03/2025 10:12

This is my first Mumsnet post so I hope this pops up in the right place.

Advice please! I started MJ 2.5mg in the middle of Jan and lost 1/2 stone of Christmas weight (which probably would have come off fairly easily when I got back to normal anyway). But since then I’ve not lost anything and I don’t feel like me appetite is curbed. I’m on my final week of 5mg and about to go up to 7.5. I see MJ women around me dropping like crazy and wonder if it will ever work for me

Seaitoverthere · 05/03/2025 10:35

Welcome @asparagusfearne and @AbiEmJay . No idea about the temperature regulation thing I’m afraid.

That is frustrating @AbiEmJay but hang in there, it seems that some people do need to get to the higher doses before feeling the effects. Hopefully 7.5mg will do it for you.

I’ve stalled a bit recently and decided to eat a bit more this week and go for a 1lb calorie deficit this week rather than the usual 1.5lb. I’m ‘owed’ 3 or 4lbs on the scales and hope they will catch up eventually. Think I am a bit constipated so introduced All Bran and waiting for some Mag07.

discoballv · 05/03/2025 10:40

I have barely eaten refined sugar over the past 6 weeks since I've not fancied it at all. I usually have a massive sweet tooth so it's been great to not crave it. Last night I had a pancake with a scoop of ice cream, a couple of mini eggs and some toffee sauce with my dd and I have woken up feeling hungover! Just shows how bad refined sugar is for my body 😳

RockyisMYRhino · 05/03/2025 10:44

Managed to do a 1 hour walk this morning! Kept a fairly steady pace of about 12 mins per km so pretty pleased with that. Am due to jab and weigh in tomorrow and feeling fairly hopeful that the strength workouts at the gym will have helped show a loss after staying the same last week. Although am going to the docs this afternoon to get started on HRT so will be interesting to see how that affects me as well.

LillethCrane · 05/03/2025 11:19

I woke feeling really fed up this morning as the scales haven't shifted again this week (well, I lost 2.5lb at midweek weigh in, put it on again by weigh day 🙄) it’s making me think this is an expensive way to live if I’m not even losing weight. I’ve also really felt the suppression has worn off over the last two weeks. It was my 8th jab last night and I’m not feeling like I couldn’t eat today, which I usually do the day after.

I’ve ordered some syringes with needle to extract the bonus dose next week and will move to 7.5mg.

On a different note, two people I’ve not seen in a while have mentioned my hair looks lovely over the past two days. I’ve done nothing new with my hair, so I’m holding on to the hope that it’s actually a slimmer face they’re noticing- I can only hope!!😂

MananaMananaPenelope · 05/03/2025 11:26

Daily weigher here - I’ve gained 1kg since the weekend, I know that this is not possible, my calorie intake is less than 1000 a day. Manana, Manana.

I’m sort of pleased I’m weighing daily tbh, I think it is teaching me not to get too hung up on it.

Lovetoridemybicycle · 05/03/2025 12:08

Slightly different post here, but I had a sudden realisation that I hadn't declared mounjaro on my annual travel insurance. I just spoke to them and they said I should have told them but were only bothered if I had been recommended it by a GP for medical reasons. So I had to declare it was for personal cosmetic reasons! and that I had approached a private provider. I had to give my height and weight too (yuck!)
So if you go through the NHS to a tier 3 for obesity or have it for diabetes it affects the cover, but either way don't forget to mention it. - This is coverwise by the way but they will all be different.

cloudjumper · 05/03/2025 12:10

W10D1 - this is the first week I have lost less that 1 kg, until now it's been ~1 kg/week. I don't think that I have strayed much from my daily calorie target, but I have definitely eaten more carbs (there's been cake... 😳). I will focus on getting that back on track.

However, I am getting close to moving into the Overweight BMI category...

NSV - the carpal tunnel symptoms in my hand have improved massively in the last few weeks. I only realised this morning that I haven't been waking up from the pain during the night and that I've not been wearing the splint at night recently. So pleased!

Has anyone noticed a change of MJ side effects? I don't feel so cold all the time anymore, which is nice. Still struggling with constipation, though.

Bonus dose done yesterday (only managed to get 5.6 mg out of my pen), will move to 7.5 mg next week.

SW 100.7 kg
CW 92.2 kg
GW 70 kg

Thiscouldbefun · 05/03/2025 12:15

@Zempy - I’ve had constipation this week. Found that breakfast of black coffee, baked beans on sourdough plus 4 prunes resolved the issue!

@AbiEmJay - I maintained last week on 3.75 and this week on 5mg don’t seem to be losing (may be the constipation though!) I’m going for the keep the faith approach and plodding on albeit the stead losses of others do make me little jealous.

@RockyisMYRhino - HRT is an absolute game changer. I kick myself for not going on it sooner. Fab stuff - takes a little whilst to get dose right, but it’s life changing

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/03/2025 12:58

For those struggling with constipation I find Sainsbury’s own brand prune juice works brilliantly for me. The posher, more expensive brands don’t seem to have the same effect but the cheap Sainsbury’s one gets things moving every time!

HeavyHeidi · 05/03/2025 13:07

NSV - not sure if it's MJ or cutting out sugar and alcohol, but my perioral dermatitis is gone.
On the other hand, stomach looks like a deflated wrinkly balloon. Hopefully this will improve with time. If not, whatever - still better than stomack looking like an inflated balloon.

MJalltheway · 05/03/2025 14:14

I haven't had much in the way of side effects, other than terrible diarrhoea on day 5/6 of each of the 5mg doses. I'm waking up early a lot but I do tend to do that pretty regularly anyway.

A tip if you are hot in the night - try switching to a wool duvet. Sounds counter-intuitive but wool is much more breathable than feathers/microfibre and the heat doesn't 'build up' underneath it. I switched years ago when I started perimeno hot flushes.

I've seen a few people say their skin conditions have cleared up! But I guess as it's an anti-inflammatory it makes sense. You must be so pleased. My stomach is also going to look wrinkly I think. I've always had a lower stomach pouch and then up to my chest has always been a bit lumpy rather than smooth fat so I think it's going to look a bit lumpy/saggy rather than smooth even when I'm at a lower weight 😓

DGonMJ · 05/03/2025 15:09

Joining in with the wrinkly tummy. I knew I had stretch marks from my last pregnancy 13 years ago, but they seem extra wrinkly and saggy having been re-stretched with last year’s weight gain.

OP posts:
Jins · 05/03/2025 15:23

Mine isn’t wrinkly yet but it was last time I lost weight and I’m expected worse this time as I’m post menopause. I’m getting a hint of bingo wing though 🥲

Therealmetherealme · 05/03/2025 16:11

I'm not so worried about my tummy but i am worried about turkey neck! Any suggestions?

I've been waking up hot, but worked out Nest has been switching the heating up at night.

JoanCollinsDiva · 05/03/2025 16:17

Oh the bingo wings! At my friends karaoke night the other week we sang and danced to Agadoo (don't ask) and I could feel them flapping away like never before 😂. I know il end up with a wrinkly tummy and saggy boobs also as I did the last time I lost a lot of weight - and that was about two years ago so it's sure to be worse this time.

Re the skin benefits - I've noticed the "chicken skin" on the tops of my arms has improved so that's a bonus

LillethCrane
Sounds like you're ready to move up a dose - I'm on second week of 5mg and have definitely felt hungrier this week. I ended up having a bit of a binge on Monday whereas I'd usually be very suppressed the day after jabbing but I managed to binge on fruit and chicken legs so at least it wasn't crisps and cake.

I'm going to go and attempt a dumbbell workout now as the mention of bingo wings has reminded me they're still sat in the Amazon box they were delivered in early last week!

Good idea, I didnt consider that at the time. Poor you, I hope you settle quickly

HeavyHeidi · 05/03/2025 16:40

@Therealmetherealme I'm planning to check out Ultherapy for my turkey neck.
Hoping skin will shrink, I haven't had any issues when I lost weight before, but of course am a few years older now..
