Shemed January Starters - Thread 3

1000 replies

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/02/2025 23:50

Wow thread 3! I just went to post on the other thread and realised we'd got to the end. I hope everyone finds us - I wasn't able to post a link!

This thread is a support thread aimed at those who started with the Shemed 1 year plan in January (or there abouts).

How is everyone?

I am not nauseous today and seeing light at the end of the tunnel- but so glad I have stuck on 5mg for the next one. I am definitely eating less too - I'm hoping that lasts!
@OneAzureMaker - ah we can be second 5mg pens together! I really want to do some exercise but similarly will have to wait until I have some energy. @tinyemmy Yay hope you are still going okay too - will be a few of us on our second 5 pens!

@Reginaphalangeeeee

Wow - fantastic results! And great the side effects have remained calm. I've had side effects each weekend of the 3 5mg jabs I've taken but they've decreased. This weekend was much more manageable for me. I think the suppression is more constant now too. I will stay on this dose if it carries on like this for a while.

@JBJ Yay for more loss - and good luck with 5mg

@BruhWhy Is the nausea easing?

@Needtomust96 I think some people in the facebook group have - you can use the section at the end of the form to request it and do say why. From reading randomly online it does seem some people need the higher doses to respond although a 1kg a week is what I'm aiming for. You might find that 5mg does it for you in a way 2.5 doesn't.

@Monmonss I did my questionnaire early Friday morning and the pen is supposed to be arriving Tuesday (tomorrow) . I think they issued it Sunday. Hope it settles for you - have you tried taking anything and all that?

@YouWillFindMeUnderCats I was the same - 13lbs and not quite the stone! I am now though - slow and steady does keep adding up. Hope the 5mg goes okay for you.

@Mazd323 How has today been? I think I'm eating less on 5mg but it still wears off towards the end of the week

@Lostatsea10 and @MrsMidgeMaisel and @Follydear I am sorry you are both still struggling. :( It's a hard thing to weigh up isn't it. It does seem Shemed do let people out of the contract if they're struggling or give them the option of Wegovy, and definitely seem to let them stay at 2.5 for longer if needed. Good luck whatever you both decide.

@Humptyandhambel Yay for a steady weight loss and hope 5mg is treating you okay.

Tagging people as I couldn't put a link onto the other page - hope that's okay and please do tag anyone I've missed out (probably quite a few!)

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden thankyou! This thread is my lifeline.

How comes you've had to start a new? Are you only allotted a certain number of pages.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 25/02/2025 06:47

Yes when page 40 fills up the threads don't let you post anymore.

Often if people notice it's page 40 they post a link to the new thread so it's easy to find... But I didn't notice we'd got there until I went to post and it was full!

Hope you're going okay. After saying my side effects are just the weekend I've woken up nauseaus but it's not as strong. I think it will go.

Thank you @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden ! Love this group of ladies

Hit my first big milestone today, even before going to the loo! 99.9 kg. I honestly never thought I would see that figure, so I am thrilled!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 25/02/2025 07:06

Wahooooooo!! That's fantastic!!! Yay for being under 100!! (that's on my list of goals too!)

Well done! That's ace and you must feel so good! 😁

My scale told me I'd hit a milestone last time I weighed and that it was losing 1% of body fat. 🙌 It's gone off my boobs off course..

If you're enjoying measuring in that way there's a scale on Amazon that's absolutely brilliant that I bought for around £20. It has a connected app for your phone and tells you 'everything' about yourself when you step on it so it really monitors changes.

Ive posted a link from Amazon if you or in fact anyone else is interested?

I really do! Joined a new gym last night, which does small group PT, and I’d actually gone once five years ago when I moved to this town. The stairs nearly killed me and I felt so out of shape and heavy that I was too embarrassed to come back until now! Had a great session!

I love the Renpho scales, I got some for Christmas and I love seeing where things are decreasing.

I feel you on the boob front. Looked down in the shower yesterday and realised they were really changing shape - made me happy! 😂 I have plenty to spare though

tinyemmy · 25/02/2025 08:34

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden thank you so much for linking me ❤️
I do think a second 5mg pen will be the right decision, I started to waver when I saw others had ordered 7.5 but my suppression was so strong at the start of the 5mg pen and I think that even if weight loss slows down that's not necessarily a bad thing. Last dose of first 5mg pen is tomorrow and second pen in the fridge waiting. I'm so happy to have found mj and such a supportive group here ❤️

OneAzureMaker · 25/02/2025 08:55

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden thanks for starting a new thread, lovely to see everyone here.

And yes, I think we are on exactly the same start day as we journey together!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 25/02/2025 09:05

I've got the Renpho scales too! My numbers are compeltely wrong (over 21 stone will do that) but I love that I'll see them change which is motivating. My "age" is 7 years older than I am and I definitely want to see that come down too!

Tiny - yes I'm glad in my decision too. I do like that doing this programme takes some of the thinking stress away (ie we're not having to thinn about half doses/golden doses/fully responsible for dose decisions) and that once in we don't even have to think about it for another month! Amazing to think we're already at finishing second pen stage!!

Yay for the gym banana! I've started some v gentle exercise (as in some stretches each day). I, know this will be my next big thing to think about once I've lost some weight.

I've got my adhd meds appointment today. They've said it's fine with MJ but bit nervous about starting soemthing new. Seems this year I'm sorting myself out 😁

Craziness! I look forward to feeling better about myself this summer!
You should find the ADHD medication helps even more. My daughter takes a number of medications and generally she isn't hungry at lunchtime, so gets a good breakfast and a good dinner, but can sometimes make up for the lack of eating at lunch after dinner so we have to be careful there
You may need to get some melatonin to help with sleep. My daughter took this first as she struggled here anyway and then ended up on stimulants and then another medication too to help with emotional dysregulation.
Good luck!

ForPeachSake · 25/02/2025 09:23

Thanks for the tag @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden! I did a sneaky half week weigh in this morning and it's looking like 3lb loss so far so shall see if that is correct come Friday! I am on holiday in a couple of weeks (going to America) so really hoping for good losses for the next couple of weeks and then looking forward to enjoying my holiday. Not going to take scales away with me but I think I need to inform SheMed and see if I can just log my weight for the week going off the previous weigh in, I don't suppose anyone here has travelled yet to one of the countries SheMed can't check in from have they?

FollyDear · 25/02/2025 12:47

Thanks @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, I was trying to post on the old thread and was confused as to why it was saying no!

The first 5mg has really knocked me for six. I took it on Saturday night and am starting to feel more normal today. I have been so exhausted and nauseous. Slept most of the weekend 😓

I lost 3.7kg in my first two weeks on 2.5mg, then totally stalled, gaining or maintaining for the last two weeks. But I did start my period so it could have been that too. I'm hoping the 5mg will up the suppression again (it seems to).

Does anyone else still think about food a lot? I know the 'food noise' is much less, but I'm still thinking 'am I hungry? Is the nausea hunger? Do I need to eat?' A lot of the day!

bluesmartie83 · 25/02/2025 13:45

How crazy to be on thread 3! Thanks for starting this @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I have really relied on this to help me when it has been tough! I have really struggled with fatigue over the past few days. I felt that I could have just shut my eyes while sat at my desk! My concentration is really lacking and I have had to really work to focus on the task in hand. Strange that the fatigue is towards the next dose of 5 mg which is tomorrow and not at the start of the week! 2nd jab of 5mg tomorrow! The suppression hasn't been as strong as I had hoped and I did cave a little and reached for the snacks yesterday but when I would have previously said I will start again tomorrow or give up I just decided on a small Milky Way bar and a handful of crisps and really enjoyed it then it seemed to hit the spot! The sun is around the corner and I am ready to embrace being more active outside.

Mazd323 · 25/02/2025 14:06

So I think my concern over the 5mg not working was a bit premature. Took my 2nd dose yesterday and I can hardly eat today. Really having to force myself to eat. Hopefully this level of appetite suppression continues, although I do feel slightly nauseous.

BruhWhy · 25/02/2025 14:10

Thank you for thread 3 @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden!

The nausea eased but so did the suppression 🧐

I'm thinking I need to inject somewhere else Thursday, because so far I've been alternating thighs. I've just been scared of the side-effects people report from tummy and arm injecting, but maybe I've just got to be brave.

kittykarate · 25/02/2025 14:26

So that's my last 2.5mg jab done (W8). Very little loss for me this week, maybe 100grammes, but you know what, better than nothing!

I've had a much quieter week symptoms wise, so I'm feeling a bit happier than I was last jab, and it all went smoother. Next week onwards (and upwards) to 5mg.

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 25/02/2025 19:32

Thanks for starting the new thread @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden. I don’t post very often but like seeing how everyone else is getting on.

I’m feeling okay following my first 5mg jab. I’m not really sure what I should be eating though. My meals are very routine…I usually eat breakfast and lunch at work and take them in from home. I’ve reduced the amount I eat at each meal. I’m not snacking at all. But dinners are tricky. I just don’t know what to eat. I’m trying to include protein and after last week’s constipation know I have to increase my fibre intake! (Never again!) The suppression is good at the moment but I feel I should eat something. Maybe a stir fry?

What is everyone else eating?

bertieallsort · 25/02/2025 23:08

Thanks for the tag @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

im on W2D2 & still doing ok with barely any side effects. Had a gym induction today because I haven’t been for years & I feel more motivated than I have for a long time!

I am having to remind myself to eat for the few days after the jab as the suppression is so high! I still can’t get over how it’s stopped my usual grazing during the day & especially if I’m feeling bored or stressed. I didn’t really realise how much food noise I had until it’s gone away!

I had a stir fry made with soy sauce yesterday. Id normally buy the sugary ones in the packets but soy in so tasty!

Tonight it's chicken salad. Which will be huge, and with a little salad cream.

Have noticed I'm struggling a lot with any hot fried food now. And my portions of anything unhealthy are getting really small, like a pick. A handful of chips on my plate and I'll eat 3.

I know it's best to mix it up so cals are higher some days and lower on others. But like you, I'm struggling with what to eat sometimes aswell. I'm relying on fruit and water to get me through any little jumps of hunger but when it's not meal time. I also make sure I have some chocolate and light crisps once a week so I'm not being too restrictive and it seems to be working for me so far.

I only ever use my stomach to inject to be honest and I've had great suppression from the start.

Particularly high on Fridays and Saturdays which works fab as I'm likely to over eat at weekends really.

I watched a YouTube video that told me that if injecting there will yield the most weight loss over time. I haven't had any bum or tum side effects either .. it's been alright.. go on be brave! 😁

OneAzureMaker · 26/02/2025 08:40

So, I've had a sneaky weigh in today, for some reason I'm usually a bit constipated by actual weigh in day and I'm usually a little heavier then!!

Wk7 day 5

But, it appears that I have lost 2 stone and my BMI is now 39.8, so just into the next bracket.

Side effects this week have been considerably more manageable though fatigue remains and occasional loose stools. But not the waking in the night with nausea, belching and gurgling tummy.

tinyemmy · 26/02/2025 09:21

4th jab done of 5mg today (with another 5mg in the fridge). 3.2lbs lost this week, unbelievable!
I hope the suppression continues on 5mg but perhaps slightly less strong now that I'm used to it! 1st 4lbs since I started 7 weeks ago. Healthy weight here I come!

SnowieBear · 26/02/2025 11:48

Thank you for the new thread @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, can't quite believe we are on number 3 already!

Today is check in day for DH, he will be taking his fourth 2.5mg dose. He had a very early start, so will do it later on tonight. Really excited for him, I can really see a change in his shape already, I hope it translates into a good weekly lose to give him a boost.

I had a breakfast event with work today, quite normal for me. As I expected, it was wall to wall bacon or sausages butties and Danishes... Realised I am turning into a proper girl scout - be prepared! - so I served myself a coffee and whipped an apple out of my handbag and started munching and mingling, noone batted an eyelid 😁

Got a formal three course lunch at a posh place in an hour. I made as good as possible choices in the pre-order, but I can see lots of my plate(s) will remain barely touched - I hope not to offend my hosts and will have to play it by ear.

Has anyone successfully changed their injection day? I want to change from Monday to Sunday. Wondering how this works?
