Shemed January Starters - Thread 3

1000 replies

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/02/2025 23:50

Wow thread 3! I just went to post on the other thread and realised we'd got to the end. I hope everyone finds us - I wasn't able to post a link!

This thread is a support thread aimed at those who started with the Shemed 1 year plan in January (or there abouts).

How is everyone?

I am not nauseous today and seeing light at the end of the tunnel- but so glad I have stuck on 5mg for the next one. I am definitely eating less too - I'm hoping that lasts!
@OneAzureMaker - ah we can be second 5mg pens together! I really want to do some exercise but similarly will have to wait until I have some energy. @tinyemmy Yay hope you are still going okay too - will be a few of us on our second 5 pens!

@Reginaphalangeeeee

Wow - fantastic results! And great the side effects have remained calm. I've had side effects each weekend of the 3 5mg jabs I've taken but they've decreased. This weekend was much more manageable for me. I think the suppression is more constant now too. I will stay on this dose if it carries on like this for a while.

@JBJ Yay for more loss - and good luck with 5mg

@BruhWhy Is the nausea easing?

@Needtomust96 I think some people in the facebook group have - you can use the section at the end of the form to request it and do say why. From reading randomly online it does seem some people need the higher doses to respond although a 1kg a week is what I'm aiming for. You might find that 5mg does it for you in a way 2.5 doesn't.

@Monmonss I did my questionnaire early Friday morning and the pen is supposed to be arriving Tuesday (tomorrow) . I think they issued it Sunday. Hope it settles for you - have you tried taking anything and all that?

@YouWillFindMeUnderCats I was the same - 13lbs and not quite the stone! I am now though - slow and steady does keep adding up. Hope the 5mg goes okay for you.

@Mazd323 How has today been? I think I'm eating less on 5mg but it still wears off towards the end of the week

@Lostatsea10 and @MrsMidgeMaisel and @Follydear I am sorry you are both still struggling. :( It's a hard thing to weigh up isn't it. It does seem Shemed do let people out of the contract if they're struggling or give them the option of Wegovy, and definitely seem to let them stay at 2.5 for longer if needed. Good luck whatever you both decide.

@Humptyandhambel Yay for a steady weight loss and hope 5mg is treating you okay.

Tagging people as I couldn't put a link onto the other page - hope that's okay and please do tag anyone I've missed out (probably quite a few!)

@Bananaramram thanks! That is good to know that the whole process hasn't imploded. We have a house/cat sitter coming to stay so there will be someone here but obviously would rather take delivery myself.

Dobbysdad · 19/08/2025 13:44

Reginaphalangeeeee · 18/08/2025 23:16

@Dobbysdad yes agree. Sorry you are also feeling this uneasiness! No email from SheMed?
Are you on any of the Facebook group pages about it? I have avoided them but maybe there is more info there?

Just an update, my questionnaire was accepted last night and pen issued first thing this morning. They approved me going up a dose too which I was worried about as higher doses are showing out of stock in other pharmacies.

Bear2014 · 19/08/2025 13:52

Has anyone had an actual Royal Mail delivery email yet relating to their new pen? Still not had anything happen at all but it looks like I am one working day behind you.

kittykarate · 19/08/2025 13:53

Afternoon Shemedders!

I'm still feeling discombulated with all the pricing speculation out there, but again, this shows how Mounjaro changes you, I'd have been face first in a pile of buttery toast!

Had my weigh in after a week off for a holiday and I've lost 400g, which isn't bad because I ate reasonably, didn't exercise massively.

Tha ks @Dobbysdadthat is reassuring.
I only did my refill questionnaire Sunday night. It does say 2 working days but would normally be done by now.

Bear2014 · 19/08/2025 21:27

Received an email from Shemed this evening saying due to stock issues they are keeping me on 7.5 for the next pen. I’m generally fine with this if I can hopefully go up next time but I did ask how fast they can deliver the bugger!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 19/08/2025 23:41

Glad you have heard from them @Bear2014
Sorry they are not putting your dose up.
I am worried they don't have 10mg in stock which is what I am on. Not head anything yet. Normally it is sortedbin 24 hours. They now have had their full 2 working day 😬

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 08:10

Had a generic email from SheMed says they are working behind the scenes & how others are hiking prices. It didn't really say anything though?

Not heard anything about my refill pen. I am really worried.

Bear2014 · 20/08/2025 08:55

@Reginaphalangeeeee yeah.. hopefully as you are on the plan they will have to find a way so that you don't have a break in your treatment. Perhaps they would send you a 5mg and say do two doses at once or something. I did my questionnaire on Sunday morning so there should be an email today at the latest I reckon.

I replied to them straight away that I was fine with staying at current dose and I still have not had any money taken or a prescription issued. I've accepted that I'm going to have to ask the poor cat sitter to wait in for the delivery and put the pen in the fridge.

OneAzureMaker · 20/08/2025 09:07

Email from shemed here saying that they are working on prices. To be honest, being on the £99 plan signed up for a year, I would expect the company to take the hit on that given that it was part of a study and a very specific programme.

We shall see. I start a new 10mg pen on Friday which I already have, so hopefully things may have settled a little in 3 weeks.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 09:42

@Bear2014just had £99 taken by shemed on my bank account which is normal that happens before they issue the pen. The app says it is still being looked at by a clinician. No other email yet.
Gosh the worry about this pen and future ones is eating me up this week!!!

I agree but they may simply terminate the study and plan if they can not viably do it. This price hike should never have been allowed to happen like this. It is so unethical! I am so cross and sad about it.

The wait is killing me too! I want to move up a dose and I’ve read so many posts saying they’ve been asked to stay on the same one they’re already on due to shortages. I’m really struggling to lose any weight and will be annoyed if they keep me on 10mg. It’s all so worrying but totally out of our control! So sad for people who this has genuinely changed their lives and they’re not going to be able to continue with the price increase.

Bear2014 · 20/08/2025 09:57

@Reginaphalangeeeee they've just taken money from me literally a minute ago so that's something!

@Mazd323 I'm pretty annoyed that I'm still on 7.5mg, I've literally been on it since January! I had to beg them to put me up to 7.5 too! I think my sister was on 10mg by Easter but she's paying a fortune through Boots and I have not spoken to her about any of this price stuff.

DearRaven · 20/08/2025 10:14

Little update that I hope helps everyone. I’ve seen a post on TikTok saying SheMed have confirmed in an email to them that they are keeping the price at £99 for the duration of the 12 months (for those who are on the research adherence program not the standard). The TikTok user posted screenshots to back this up. SheMed have also posted this info in their own Facebook group, but I do not have access to it to confirm.

I cannot completely breathe a sigh of relief until hearing it from SheMed directly, but seeing this has somewhat helped ease my anxiousness over the whole situation.

Still waiting for money to be taken, app showing as refill questionnaire is being reviewed. Glad that some of you have at least got to the next stage of the process & hope @Mazd323 @Reginaphalangeeeee that the 10mg or even 12.5mg dose is in stock, as we are all on the same. Until this week’s whoosh I’d lost 1.5kg in 3 months, so really do not want to be put down a dose if 7.5mg is the highest in stock 🤞

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 10:40

Update all.
Just had prescription notification and it is for 10mg.
Yay!
More hope now as money taken, prescription in and estimates delivery by tomorrow.

I am not sure if it will come that quick but hopeful it comes before the bank holiday and before I go away. I have decided I will now use the golden dose too. Regret not doing this before as I would have a pen or two buffer. With my 5 months remaining it will give me one pen left over at the end of the subscription.

This will be my second 10mg pen and I am delighted with results from moving up this month. It was definitely the right time for me and 7.5mg did very little for me. With out doing anything different.. My 7 week static weight of 107kg (within 1kg) has seen a 2.5kg weight loss in the last 2 weeks. So just over 1 Kg a week on this pen again which is Fab! It's made me so happy but I don't understand. It is literally just the dose that has changed.

Weight 104.6kg today meaning a total loss of 31.4kg. I’m so close to that 5stone marker!!!
Celebration today as this puts my BMI at 34.9 - hooray to be under 35!

Feels like it's all come off my deflated boobs as my bra cups seem emptier this week. I’ll take it though!!!

I will update when pen arrives. Finger crossed for you all!!!!

OneAzureMaker · 20/08/2025 12:07

@Reginaphalangeeeee that's great news. What concerns me slightly as whilst I have eaten a little less on 10mg, it is nowhere near what would be necessary to lose 3kg, as I have in 2 weeks on it. I am delighted, of course, I've now reached below 100kg which I wasn't sure was even possible!

But Mounjaro does something more than just reducing appetite for sure

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 13:40

That is wonderful news @OneAzureMakerwell done!!!!

Yes a big whoosh for you. It certainly is magic stuff.
Under 100kg- what a dream that is. Earlier this year I could not comprehend that and even being under the 120kg seemed impossible. Her I am within reach of being in the under 100 club too. Maybe by October!

What's your total loss now @OneAzureMaker
?

I've lost 5st, I was 130.5kg when I started. 1 kilo to go and I will have lost 25% of my body weight. It's hard to believe there is a quarter less of me!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 21/08/2025 00:03

Wow well done @OneAzureMaker
I have lost 23% & started 136kg
We are close in losses but you are on a level up from me. Well done.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 21/08/2025 10:58

I feel sick!!! My delivery notification just came by RM!!! They left it in a ‘safeplace’. No!!!!
Photo is not my property!!!!
My husband racing home for it but so worried after all this I will not have it 😭😭😭

KoalaKoKo · 21/08/2025 12:38

It has gotten so shody with delivery I never get told it’s being delivered the day before now so it’s become really hard to have someone in!

Earlier in the summer I was stuck with a pen for a month which was definitely less effective and had little suppression because I wasn’t home when delivery was attempted. They only emailed me to say it was coming to me that day two hours before delivery and I was already out so didn't see it. I called them to say - summer, hot van, another 24hours in transit with no ice pack at this stage and had some guy tell me that it’s fine if the pen gets hot, just use it within 30 days! I asked if he knew how hot cars and vans get in the summer and he insisted it would be fine! He said he would send me contact details for someone in the manufacturers to assure me and never did. It was painful and I ended up using the pen which was definitely less effective.

DearRaven · 21/08/2025 15:01

@KoalaKoKo I don’t seem to be notified about deliveries either and when I emailed to query why, I received a tracking number for February’s delivery - in May! 🙄

My prescription has now been approved, filled out the questionnaire on Monday @ 8:30am for those who are wondering about timelines. Was kept at 10mg, so this will be my third 10mg pen.

Hopefully everything is going well behind the scenes for them and they’re negotiating a good discount to pass on to us after the 12mths are up 🤞

Reginaphalangeeeee · 21/08/2025 21:59

Yes the delivery is terrible right now. I had an email at 9.30 to say it would be there between 1.30-17.30. I went out, then email 10.30 it had been delivered. Though the picture of the ‘safeplace’ is not my property. Not sure where it is but basically looks like left in the sun on a floor somewhere.
RM no help and I emailed SheMed.
not sure what will happen now.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden my ADHD appointment has finally come through 🙌 any tips? How long between the appointment and medication for you, was this a second appointment. Although they might decide I'm not ADHD of course. I'm currently still taking mj although one of my plan Bs is that the ADHD medication stops my binge eating and then I don't need mj!

PS at what point do we need new threads? I've only started using Mumsnet because of mj so no idea!!
