@Crazydogmumma brilliant weight loss and congrats on getting your mob outfit. Do you have long to wait for the wedding now?

@Bluenose1966 that's slightly depressing to hear about proper weight training but still crepey arms. I guess toned but crepey is better than not toned and crepey and saggy...

@Fizzleawayyy1 a pound down is still a pound down! I've slowed right down, too. But the great thing about mj is I don't mind (too much!), I can just keep going and maybe next week I'll be down again. Before mj I'd have just caved in in disgust and started eating

@surreygirl1987 Congratulations on your five stone loss!! This month I'm getting people noticing my weight loss, too, and I'm wearing loose cardigans to try and blur the obvious loss a bit. It all makes me feel quite self conscious. Still, I'd rather they looked at me now, than before when you just know they're all thinking how **ing fat has she got???

fourquenelles · 24/05/2025 13:07

What ho lovely losers. Slowly slowly slowly. On 7.5mgs and I lost 5.75 lbs this month which tbh was a couple of pounds more than I thought! Total weight loss since October now 51 lbs. Thinking about going up to 10 mg as I get HUGE munchies on Thursdays (I inject on Saturday). This week I just leant into it - I can't do too much damage as I only have 100 calorie or less snacks in the house and I resisted the temptation to Whoosh yum yums from Tesco. I am following the Ed Gamble diet where I do not deny myself anything but I have the best quality and limit portion sizes.

I have been charidee shopping summer frocks to go with a cropped denim jacket I bought recently. I ignored size labels and so have a 10 (think it is supposed to be a floaty dress but it works beautifully as a tunic type top for me), an XL and a 14 (snug but will be great in half a stone's time).I am also finding walking so much easier but that's no surprise when you realise I was lugging around nearly 2 x 12 kg bags of dog kibble when I stepped outside.

I am 70 soon and I have noticed I have really crepey skin on my forearms and cheeks but that I fear is old age;I grease myself up first thing in the morning and hope for the best.

Onwards and downwards!

EVK · 24/05/2025 22:43

So good to read everyone’s posts. Some incredible losses - 5 stone!! Wow 🙌 @surreygirl1987 - everyone’s doing so well . I slowed right down towards the end and was lucky if I lost 1lb a week so those of you slowing or slow losers just keep going.

I’m three weeks post last MJ now and it’s ok - no massive changes in behaviour- although I can definitely eat more! I’m just managing to maintain at 8.7-8 stone .8llbs so that’s good. Hopefully things will continue one it’s complicit of my system - another week or so!!!

Totally resonate with all of you commenting on how weird it is getting used to your new size.
im still not confident what sizes to buy.
im a 10 but sometimes an 8 depending on the style/manufacturer but still find myself going for a 12 as im unsure online - then I find things are too big.

Take care everyone - im off to visit a friend abroad this weekend so hope I can hold it together 🤣

surreygirl1987 · 24/05/2025 08:11

Hi everyone, great to hear things are going so well.

I've just hit 5 stone loss and I'm amazed. Never thought I'd be this weight ever again.

SW 16 stone 3
CW 11 stone 3
GW ? Maybe 10 and a half stone?

I look and feel so much better. Only problem is, I can't go anywhere (work, school run) without people commenting. I know they mean well, and it was lovely to know it was noticeable at first (at around the 3 stone loss mark) but it's really starting to annoy me now. It's constant! I know it's a large proportion of my body weight lost (almost a third I suppose) but it all just feels so public, like my body is under constant scrutiny. I've taken to wearing baggy jackets to large meetings to avoid the eyes being on me 🙈 I'm almost 6 foot tall, so can't exactly hide!

It's great fitting into nice clothes again, and having them look good on me. I'm finding it hard to know my size now though. I was a 16/18. I bought a beautiful top in a 14 from Vinted last week and it's like a tent on me.

I'm determined not to get big again, and will talk to my pharmacist, Oushk, about maintainance.

Edited

I'm the same - hate people commenting generally. A quiet word "oh, you look good today" is of course lovely. Shouting over the road "my god, you've lost SO MUCH WEIGHT" is less so. I am a secret jabber, and of course worry that people might assume. But I don't think it's on peoples minds as much as we think.

I've an Oushk maintenance call booked in, I'd suggest booking that ASAP as I had a long wait. I've been DIYing maintenance for two months now (and have lost 1-2kgs in that time).

My current goal is to tone up and get fitter, and keep my weight about the same. I don't really want to lose any more around my face but I'd like to get my legs looking better.

HansHolbein · 25/05/2025 22:14

@Letshavetea1 Totally agree that our modern lifestyles impact our diet and well being. Absolutely. Glad 7.5 is going well! Not long to go for you now.

@Mysticmaiden So sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. Work is still sucking the life out of me! Once I have this event over it will calm down a bit. I hope you have been enjoying some cuddles with your cat and that your week has been better. I love animals, cats, dogs, chickens... would love to have a pet but just don't have the time.

@Taxiparent Hope you managed to sort out the jeans situation?! Have you looked at Vinted? I've bought some really nice bits from there recently.

@TheChosenTwo Hope you're having a lovely holiday!

@recklessgran Gran, wow, you have a lot on your plate. So glad you have your holidays to look forward to. You deserve it! Have you got another holiday planned?

@Fizzleawayyy1 STS is ANNOYING and the shits. Lord! Are you ok now? I usually have some form of protein and salad for lunch. I love salmon and avocado so usually have that. Plus fruit, I love fruit. Glad you lost a lb. I know it's been annoying you for a while but it must be so hard if you have to eat out a lot.

@lapuf So sorry to read you've been feeling so shit! Sulphur burps are gross aren't they... the positive at least is the 5lbs!

@Carridoesntlivehereanymore Congratulations on your 4st loss! Amazing... and off your BP meds, this medication is just crazy! Very happy for you. Lovely NSV!

@Bluenose1966 That is a lot of trainers, lol! My thing is coats and jackets, Not fussed about handbags. So pleased for you that maintenance is going well.

@Mincepieinthesky Woohoo for the shopping spree success!

@Crazydogmumma Lovely update from you. I love reading NSV about confidence and just feeling SO GOOD. I bet the outfit looks beautiful on you. When is the wedding?

@surreygirl1987 Wow 5 stone! I know what you mean. It makes me feel very awkward. I just don't know what to say. Lots of 'you're wasting away'... How do I respond to that?!

@lickycat Ooo in your 14s! I love that feeling. I think it might take a while for some of us to catch up with ourselves. Sometimes I catch myself in the mirror and I am not sure if I still look chubby or not?! I also seem to look dreadful in photos which doesn't help.

@fourquenelles Lovely steady loss this month. 51lbs, well done! Yes, maybe time to move up if you're getting the 6th day munchies! Ooo love yum yums.

@EVK It's reassuring to know that maintenance is going well for you. Makes me feel better about what is to come. Have a lovely weekend.

Not much to say from me. Yes, the wispa wrapper has gone. The washing machine died. It was 12 years old though so I can't be too pissed off about it.

I'm now 9st 9lbs. Clothes are getting baggy again but I will just have to wait until I hit my goal weight of 9st to buy anything. I'm on my own this evening which is lovely. House is silent. No mum! mum! mum! mum!

Love to all x

No solution to the jeans issue yet, I bought a pair of bootcut jeans, but I actually think the slightly wider leg look better, so I have some to wear, but they are not the ‘ones’, so the quest continues. 2lbs off this week and I think my goal is another 10lbs before the holiday, I’m then going to stay on the same dose and try to maintain for a while. If I decide I want to go lower I’ll restart for the final stone.

recklessgran · 25/05/2025 22:51

@HansHolbein thanks yes, we're taking DD3, DSIL and our darling new DGD [5 months now] to Santa Eulalia in Ibiza for a week in 4 weeks time. We're so excited to be able to do this and know how lucky we are to be able to arrange extra care for mother and respite for DD1 to allow us to do it. We're hoping that we can help out enough with DGD to allow DD3 and DSIL some time to reconnect a bit as they've had a really tough time - DD3 had a terribly stressful pregnancy with continual bleeding, in and out of hospital, reduced movements and small for dates baby culminating in a horrific forceps delivery, baby badly injured and bruised. DD and DSIL were understandably traumatised and extremely stressed by the end of it all.. Never mind - DGD was worth it all of course but these two really deserve a break so we're hoping to give them a good time and have one ourselves at the same time.
Love everyone's updates and it's another pound off for me this week and an increased dose - another 0.25mgs - one more week and I'll finally have made it to the heady heights of 5mgs at long last Meanwhile not great news for me on the health front as my recent blood tests show an alarming drop in kidney function which has resulted in more tests, 24hour urine and kidney scan so we'll see where that leads. Hey ho - I've always been really healthy [apart from BC 7 years ago] so this has come as a bit of a shock and a reminder that none of us is invincible! Hope evberyones enjoying the long weekend.

Thanks. I'm with Oushk as well so you've prompted me to make that maintainance appointment.

Well done - amazing progress, especially DIY-ing maintainance! How are you doing it.?

OMG the 'YOU'VE LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT' shout 🙈🙈 I've had a few of these. One was across the school playground on the school run and was followed with ' how much have you lost??!' I didn't even recognise the mum who was talking to me 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ So awkward.

Carridoesntlivehereanymore · 26/05/2025 11:39

@HansHolbein 9st 9lbs is fabulous!! Well done!!

@surreygirl1987 how long is it until you managed to get a maintenance appointment with Oushk please? I'm a way off that point and losing very slowly now but it'd be nice to be on it.

I've just been shopping and come back with two size 12 t-shirts and two size 12 dresses! Size 12??? This is very happy crazy!

I'm with Oushk, it's around 2-3 months wait but I emailed them for an appointment as I work mon-fri but had a few days off so booked it in then. They said if you are within 2kgs of your target, you can contact them for an urgent appointment as they have set some up for those close to it.
I'm 10st 8lbs and my appointment is in 3 weeks, it was originally in a few days but i emailed them to move it forward. I'm a size 12 too, quite happy with it but would be great to get to 10st.

Crazydogmumma · 26/05/2025 14:47

@Fizzleawayyy1 - my dress is navy and ivory (not a colour I was originally going for).
The wedding is in September so I have time to keep plodding away and losing.
if I was brave enough I would post a photo 🙈

Well done on starting to sell some bits on vinted. Good way to let others enjoy things you have fallen out of love with.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 26/05/2025 15:59

Hi all

Just checking in. Just starting second week of holiday so no weigh in, but clothes still fit 😁

4th of 15mg and worringly I am getting barely any suppression, especially by day 3 after jabbing, and no real side effects. I am beginning to wonder if the 15mg I have been sent is just filled with water 🤣 or perhaps I am just used to it now.

Will take bonus dose when I get home next monday then start my second 15mg that is waiting for me, and see how the scales are!

Letshavetea1 · 26/05/2025 17:46

@HansHolbein I’m in the same boat re clothes - will detrminedly carry on in the baggies until I shift these remaining 13 lbs. I have stayed the same this week. So, I’ll be here for a long time yet! You’ve done so well with your weight loss!
@Taxiparent - getting jeans that fit is hellish difficult at the best of times. Weirdly I have a new pair of French Comnection size 14 that are too baggy and an old pair of theirs from before that are just right!
@recklessgran - sorry to hear about your renal problems. Fingers crossed for you. What do they think is causing it? Glad you’re going to have a lovely holiday soon with DGD. We had one with ours recently and it was fab! Sorry also to hear about DD’s delivery - my daughter also had a really traumatic time. It’s awful as a grandparent to see the impact isn’t it?
@surreygirl1987 @Vegemite123 - no one has commented with me as yet. I’m now 10% of my body weight gone. I don’t think I’d like it either though.
@Carridoesntlivehereanymore - funnily enough size 12 is my secret hope more than anything on the scales! Not there yet! Well done you - shopping for new clothes is fab!
@Mysticmaiden - I’ve taken note of the wait and will contact them once I get to a bmi of 25. currently at 25.8. I’m already with Oushk.
@Crazydogmumma - it’s fab that you’ve bought your outfit. I love navy clothes - I think you’ll look great.
@DeltaAlphaDelta79 - I hope you have a great holiday. I think it’s hard to have suppression with all the temptations of holiday around.

recklessgran · 26/05/2025 18:10

I'm not sure whether I've read about this happening to somebody else on this thread or another one but I've been trying to order my next pen from Med Express and having trouble. The order is the same dosage as before - 5mgs but I've been asked to upload a full length pic and a photo ID pic too "showing all four edges" of passport/driving licence. God knows why as my BMI is still 31! Anyway, I obeyed and uploaded pics since when I've heard nothing and no acknoledgement either. I'm not happy about this as of course they have my money so I guess I'll have to call them tomorrow. Will report back.
@letshavetea they don't know that's the problem. Its all to do with my eGFR
which was 90 two years ago, 80 last year but is now 60. At my age [69] 60 isn't really a problem I don't think but the problem is the drop of 30 in two years when in actual fact the expected drop should be 1 per year so effectively I've dropped 30 years worth of function in 2 years. This can apparently be indicative of multiple myeloma hence the 24 hour Bence Jones test I'm currently collecting. Then again it could be nothing so I'm trying not to worry too much for now.
With regard to DD3 yes, horrible to watch - she waited so long for this sweet darling child and at 39 has found motherhood tough in more ways than one yet is a natural at it if only she could find her self belief bless her. Not like in our day where we learnt from other mummies and forged meaningful friendships that way - no now everyone has big careers[she's an assistant head] and of course there's the internet with so much conflicting "advice"......sigh.

Letshavetea1 · 26/05/2025 18:52

@recklessgran - I’m so sorry you’re going through all this with your renal function. Fingers crossed for you. If you’re asymptomatic and feeling well with no other symptoms hopefully that’s a good sign.
I know what you mean with how our daughters (high functioning - mines a a lawyer) get their advice. It’s certainly a lot of pressure of a different kind now! I agree about the ‘advice’ from the internet.

Taxiparent · 26/05/2025 19:40

@letshavetea1 I haven’t tried French Collection for jeans, I’m off to have a look now!

HappyNewt · 26/05/2025 20:48

Quote of the day from someone I saw last in Sept...
"Have you changed your hair??"
🤣😂🤣😂
(They did go on to add that I looked well!)
I'll take that!!

Tohaveandtohold · 26/05/2025 21:02

It’s nice to read everyone’s update and how well we’re all getting on. I don’t post much here as I don’t want to bore anyone really but just here to update the thread as promised. So I’ve been off MJ for over 15 weeks now and everything has been going on well. I’ve not returned to my old habits and i have a good routine now with maintenance.
BMI was 24.8 when I finished MJ and at my last weight in on Saturday, it was 23.9 so all good. To be honest, it’s not been eventful and all the initial fear I had when I went cold turkey seem to have gone, I’m just focusing on the right things now.

Mysticmaiden · 26/05/2025 21:16

@Tohaveandtohold that's brilliant 👏 well done. Do you exercise and track food?

Tohaveandtohold · 26/05/2025 21:53

@Mysticmaiden I exercise 5 days a week (first thing in the morning as I exercise at home, this has made the most difference).
I don’t actively track my food. I never did when I was on MJ so I continued what I did then. I’m just mindful of what I eat and my portions, more protein and veg than carbs etc and when I do my weekly shopping, I get some ‘safe’ low calorie snacks for the week and these are always my go to if I’m hungry in between meals. I still continue to drink lots of water as i did whilst on MJ.

Wow well done!! I've also been shopping today and it felt so good to try things on in the changing rooms and actually LOOK GOOD! Even if I am still size L in Zara!

I booked my maintainance appointment and found there were some appointments a month in advance, so not too bad. I'd like to lose upto another stone maybe, but I'm still losing quite rapidly at the moment so am happy to slow that down. By the time I have my appointment, I should have less than half a stone to lose at this rate, so I think I'll probably order 5mg for my next pen (currently on 7.5, which is the highest I've made it upto).

Letshavetea1 · 27/05/2025 13:15

Good afternoon all. NSV here today - waist to height ratio is now 0.5 - so oficially 0.1 to go to be at the top of the healthy range! I just measure bust, waist and hips and they’ve gone down 4.5. 2 and 3 inches respectively! Pleased with that, but it just goes to show how difficult it is to shift visceral fat from around the waist (and internal organs). Makes me realise that for health reasons I need to just keep going until that critical waist measurement is further reduced.

Gilly1C · 27/05/2025 13:19

Hi all, do sorry if this has been answered previously but I can't find anything. Going to Turkey in 2 weeks and taking my pen, can anyone advise best way to pack and do I need to show any documentation for it. Thank you in advance

Letshavetea1 · 27/05/2025 13:38

@Gilly1C - I take mine in hand luggage in a Frio wallet (keeps the pen cold with crystals activated in cold water). I also take wipes and needles in hand luggage. I bring the used needles (carefully wrapped) home to put in my sharps bin.

The reason I bought a Frio wallet is because I travel to the Caribbean which has temps up to 30 degrees, so I don’t want to risk room temp for the pen. You may not need to buy one - depends on the temperature in Turkey at the moment? I take the box with me (showing the prescription) I put the wallet in the security tray and have never been asked about MJ at all either here or abroad. Once I arrive at my destination I put my pen in the fridge and use as normal. I also have bought pens home from holiday and continued their use with no issues. Have a wonderful holiday.

TheOtherSide21 · 27/05/2025 17:26

8 stone 3lbs total loss over here. 8 stone was my initial target so have exceeded that. Going to get to 9 and then that will be me done and pursuing more of maintain and get stronger approach.

Don't have terrible loose skin but I haven't pinged back! Boobs, chest and arms are a bit crepey.

But the hair loss.... oh my lord. Lucky I had loads to start with but I do fear I'm going to lose a shit tonne more before it levels itself! Stress related hairloss tends to happen three months after the trigger - in December I had really bad covid alongside being on MJ so my eating for a couple of weeks was terrible alongside being ill with fever etc. and the hair loss started end of Feb. Fingers crossed it slows!
