I've been really lucky @DeltaAlphaDelta79 in that the weight fell off me early on, but I'm now losing 1-2lbs a week. I've also had the 'is it worth the money' thoughts, as I should be able to manage that loss on my own (although post menopause weekly losses when dieting without MJ tended to be in the ounces rather than pounds).
But if I'm honest, 6 months is the longest I've ever managed to diet for previously, and then it's like my brain overrules me and I fall spectacularly off the wagon. This weekend marked 6 months on MJ and I'm not even thinking about giving up. I think it's worth it for that alone.

Thats great to hear @igivein. I did SW before and lost just over 5 stone, but it took me about 2 years (figures I gave above were assuming a 2 pound a week loss, which obviously doesn't happen every week), and once I got to target, I stopped and it went all back on. That's what I am worried about when I stop MJ.

I worked out that I spent about £750-£800 on SW and am now about that with MJ, so it got me thinking. I know I won't be able to stay on MJ forever, even a low maintenance dose, mainly due to the money, but I only have about 2 stone more to go before I am where I want to be.

I know slow and steady is the best way to lose weight, and I am genuinely happy to have done what I have so far. It was more probably a slight envy of other people bigger losses in less time, and I am an impatient bugger so it was more of an idle musing I think.

EVK · 07/04/2025 11:36

Totally get where your thoughts are coming from. I have a couple of friends who are doing really well on alternative weight loss schemes but for me it was the initial push I needed to get going and keep going. I feel now I have some good habits in place I could do this myself. The pain in my ribs/back which im
sure is where I hurt myself is messing with head though and making paranoid/anxious about things like pancreatitis etc. and now really weighing up the health/risk benefits (let alone financial outlay!) as I’m basically at target. I have half a 5mg pen left and haven’t taken this weeks as I’m too paranoid about it even though I’m 90% sure my pain is due to muscular skeletal injury ! It makes you think !!

EVK · 07/04/2025 11:38

Haven’t contacted GP as I’m hoping given a bit more time this pain/aching will begin ease off and I’ll then know I’m ok!!!!! I’m a bit worried though have to admit !

Evenstar · 07/04/2025 11:45

@EVK I had that when I moved up to 5mg, like a stabbing pain in waves in the right upper back and ribs, fortunately I was on a Facebook group where someone from Oushk did a live chat. She felt it was unlikely to be pancreatitis in that location and in the absence of any other symptoms, and said she thought it would be OK to monitor it for a few days. It did stop and it hasn’t happened again. Another lady said the same thing happened to her.

Applying some heat helped a bit.

HansHolbein · 07/04/2025 12:15

Hello all, back after my short break. Had a lot of work and child related stuff going on…

I’m now 10st 13lbs! I’m about 3lbs away from the healthy weight BMI which I can’t believe.

Well into size 12 clothes and feeling great. Having lots of fun ordering new clothes but trying not to go too mad because I’m not at goal yet… but it’s hard.

Stats

33yrs PCOS 5’5
SW 16st 2.7lbs/102.8kg BMI 37.7
CW 10st 13lbs/69.4kg BMI 25.5
GW 9st/57kg BMI 21
Total loss 5st 3lbs/33kg
To go… 1st 13lbs/12.2kg

Off to read what I have missed!

lapuf · 07/04/2025 13:28

Well done in getting down to the 10s @HansHolbein👏

EVK · 07/04/2025 21:58

@HansHolbein fabulous stuff - you’re rocking it 🙌 @Evenstar thanks for your reply - I’m sure I’ve hurt myself reaching into bottom of the recycling bin! But it’s disconcerting and makes problem is I’ve always been paranoid about serious side effects so it feeds into my worries ! May do my next dose tomorrow as I have no other symptoms.

Intriguing 🤣

exhaustedandwholly · 08/04/2025 00:12

Has anyone else found that medexpress asked for more photographic evidence when ordering the 15mg? Annoyingly they delayed it for 7 days and didn't get back to me - was stuck waiting on a clinician to review and I've now been 4 days without the pen and the cravings have started already, it's crazy. I'm currently at my goal weight but want to go a little under so I can afford to gain a few ibs when I come off it next month. I've also just decided to quit vaping. Not sure that's a good idea 🤣

p.s well done to everyone who has hit their goal

I have seen others say that there is a shortage at the higher doses so that might be the reason behind the delay.

Fingers crossed it arrives soon

Intriguing 🤣

I was watching big brother.. Mickey Rourke went in, the poor man doesn’t know his own name! 😬

JustKeepsBreathing · 08/04/2025 11:33

Dose 26 - took 7 mg again
I’ve put on 0.6 of a pound so basically STS - pretty good going with Mother’s Day treats.
I’m not going to go over a 7 mg dose now because it makes me feel too unwell and my bmi is now in high healthy rating. Just musing - I know I’ve got muscle building to do so I think it’s too early to move to maintenance.

Scores on the doors
Total weight loss is now 3 stone and 8.4 lbs
SW 15 stone 1 lb
CW 11 stone 6.6 lbs
GW 10 stone 3 lbs

Good luck this week, everyone x

HansHolbein · 08/04/2025 12:52

I'm working my way back from 2 weeks ago so this might be a jumbled mess!

@Bluenose1966 Amazing that you're still maintaining. So happy for you. Thank you for the podcast recommendation. I do plan to stay on it long term but always interested in alternative views. I'm sort of hoping that if I stay on it for a couple of years and maintain my goal, I might able to reset my body? Well done on making £72! Thank you for the snippet from Lancet.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Totally agree about the food bill. Used to spend about £200 a week and now I have it down to about £130. I've stopped spending in general, too. Amazon probably think I have died. Used to have packages delivered every day... I do a bit of strength training but need to do more. I have an active job so I do move quite a bit. I've never been to a gym but I need to do something.

Without sounding like a wanker, we do have a tennis court; my aim is to start playing with my daughter soon. We also have a swimming pool but it's only slightly heated so freezing at the moment... but I will start using that once it's warmer. I've been suffering with GTPS (greater trochanteric pain syndrome) since April last year and I am sure the water will be good for it.

Well done on the 2lbs loss! Good idea about the bloods. I've been thinking of doing that too. Love your measurements update!

@LumionaMoonsplash Woohoo! Well into the 11's. The dumbbells are so heavy, I agree! No wonder I couldn't be arsed to do anything.

@flowerlady2 Yes, a bit. My hair has always been fine but I have noticed a bit more coming out at the moment. On all my other many diets this has always happened but it does come back. If it's particularly bad it could be telogen effluvium, which is temporary.

@hopeishere That is just fantastic about your blood pressure. MJ is such a gift! Really happy for you.

@fourquenelles Well done you!

@TheChosenTwo Ah you're doing so well. How is your PCOS? Great measurements update! It's slowing down for me too.

@TheOtherSide21 7st is just nuts isn't it! Can you believe 6 months ago we would all be feeling as free as we do now?!

@exhaustedandwholly What a lovely update. Congratulations! Yes my boobs have shrunk, but I'm ok with that. My boobs were enormous and I really didn't like that. Looked bad in clothes. I am a classic apple shape so my bum has never been great anyway!

@Tohaveandtohold Do you have any suggestions for beginner glute strengthening exercises that you recommend? Please and thank you!

@recklessgran Hi Gran! Well done on your loss. I know it's been slow for you but you always keep going no matter what. At least with MJ it keeps us going. Without it I would have given up yonks ago. I'm not taking any supplements either... how did the 4mg go? Any better?

@letshavetea Hope you had an amazing holiday. Where did you go? Well done for staying the same. I once went on holiday for 2 weeks and put on 19lbs... LOL. Terrible.

@igivein Congratulations on your 5st loss! I'm sure you feel like a changed woman. The truffles sound delicious. I hope you have enjoyed some of them! 72lb is nuts. How are you feeling?! Have you got your eye on anything in the shops to wear for summer? We are all going to feel amazing this summer.

@Vegemite123 Another healthy BMI! Such lovely news. Haha great NSV! Thank you for the link, I'll have a read.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Argh, that's annoying. Good news about the clothes, though. Agree, keep going. We've nothing to lose?! Hope 12.5 treats you well. - Update to your latest post - 5lbs, wowee! It's a difficult one, isn't it. It's all so unpredictable. One of the ways you could look at it is that you're still here, still committed, still going. For me I would have given up months ago and put it all back on.

@Pegsmum I did my second 12.5 on Friday. Going well for me. No side effects. I don't ever get hungry so really have to keep an eye on that. Only thing I have noticed (and this has been going on a while) is that food doesn't interest me. I don't enjoy anything and I find it all a bit meh. I cannot face anything with any sugar in. I make a chocolate brownie every Monday for pudding and it makes me wretch. I would say that's my only real issue.

@HappyNewt Oh my, those measurements are fantastic! Also agree with the stomach issue. It's my largest area... my highest weight was 20st 127kg and I have had two c-sections so I know it will never go back to how it was.

@JustKeepsBreathing Wow you are doing so well! 24%!

@lapuf Great that you're back on the wagon. That is a lot of social stuff... I think I would hide. Could be the salt. Whenever I have anything salty it messes with the scale for days.

@sushinelove Don't blame you for dropping down. You can't deal with that every week.

@Mrsmajeeka Soooo close! I am sort of feeling the same. My GW is 9st BMI 21 and I don't know if that will be too much. My arms and legs are already quite slim, it's just my stomach. Always is the last to go...

@crumbssonmyface Always welcome! Sometimes life gets in the way and that's ok; at least you're here! Best of luck to you.

@icantgetnosheep1 Glad you're ok, did the surgery go ok? How are you now?

@Gilly1C I'm sorry I am not sure. I do think that as we get closer to goal our body is thinking 'nope' and wants to hold on to anything it can. I've always struggled with the last bit. I'm sure that if you are consistently in a deficit it has to move at some point?!

@NachoCheesed Welcome and well done you.

@JustKeepsBreathing Congratulations on being in the healthy range! I can't wait for that.

What's everyones plans for easter? We are going away with my husbands huge side of the family. Haven't seen most of them in 6 months so they are likely to be shocked. I am really in need of those 4 days off work!

Doing OK now thank you @HansHolbeinthe first week I was in a lot of pain and my mobility was bad! Not sure where the week actually went..!! Yesterday the pain was awful but I just rested, today I’m a little better ☺️🙏☺️

They asked for photos of me yesterday when I ordered 5mg but I think they have approved it, even though my BMI is currently below 25. I seem to have a Royal Mail tracking reference number.

HappyNewt · 08/04/2025 15:16

So, been thinking a lot about where I have got to and where I would like to be.

Keen not to get too scrawny (not that I am there yet!!) - losing the muffin top really would be the ideal at the moment....I am now able to wear most of the long hidden clothes in my wardrobe...some I already can...even skinny jeans freshly washed don't present a problem... but that pesky muffin top!!

I have definitely done well losing the back and side fat as well as from my bum so that shocking side on view is looking a lot more normal now...so part of me is delighted.

I am not yet in the 'healthy' BMI zone....but I do know that as I have lost weight I keep on needing to adjust my intake down to reflect this change - The mini plateaus show this too.

I have a couple of personal hurdles to get through in the next couple of weeks, so having the MJ to keep me on the straight and narrow though that will definitely help.

I have two doses of 10mg left in my current pen, one more 10mg pen on order and an unopened 5mg in the fridge (from when I thought that was where I would stay!!).

I am thinking perhaps one more 10mg pen or possibly a 7.5 to start to titrate back down.

I have about 7kg still to go to where I think I will look best....so I am going to focus on just getting through the next couple of weeks and coming out of the other side with a commitment to a final push....

I am not keen on staying on meds long term (even though I do otherwise feel pretty good!). I do think that MJ has helped change my mindset and made it clear to me that calories/macros in v good exercise, hydration and above all self belief are the keys to a sustainable healthy weight going forward.........maybe......hopefully!!!!

Fingers crossed, but I feel that I now need a plan for this next stage...

Well done everyone....keep picking up those heavy things and think to yourselves...wow haven't I done well!!!

Letshavetea1 · 08/04/2025 20:47

@HansHolbein good to sea you back! I’m fine thanks. Have since gone up a pound since getting back to normal (: So I’ll just plod on now! We went to Barbados on holiday - which was amazing. Such clear and warm seas and great food- was healthy as mainly fish/salads/veg. The trouble is when I come back from holiday it’s hard to scale back on the wine and eating out . Although food portions aren’t so much of an issue. I’m now slowly titrating up to 7.5 mg as I used to stop eating before I finished a meal and now can eat it all! Did 45 clicks last week and 50 clicks this week. So, in two more weeks I’ll be at 60 clicks. The slow route seems to suit me better as I don’t suffer so much from side effects this way. I’m surprised that. When E Lilly did the trials that people managed to cope with going up doses.
I lost my log in, so same user name (with a 1)!

EVK · 09/04/2025 07:17

@Letshavetea1 Barbados sounds idyllic- in my dreams! @HappyNewt so good to hear your positivity and how well you’re doing 🙌
Ive decided my pain/achy left side is definitely my ribs/intercostal muscles as apart from
that fine no other symptoms. So was thinking I’d take my next dose to finish this pen - thing is I’m now 3 days later than usual - I’m guessing that’s ok?

exhaustedandwholly · 09/04/2025 08:19

Morning all - my god the hair loss is awful, I'm losing clumps just washing or brushing it, it's crazy

icantgetnosheep1 · 09/04/2025 08:49

Have you been taking any vitamins? I have fine hair and this was one of my worries when I started MJ. I do use collagen powder and take biotin supplements.. I think it’s helping but I’m still conscious of ever strand when I brush my hair 😬

Bluenose1966 · 09/04/2025 10:48

@EVK The official Eli Lilley website says
If you miss a dose of Mounjaro, take the missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day. Do not take 2 doses of Mounjaro within 3 days of each other.

Encouraging study for those who want to eventually come off Mounjaro showing that tapering down and lifestyle changes can result in keeping weight off for 6 months after coming off medication, though looks like a significant number left original study group. This research was carried out on Ozempic/ Wegovy but hopefully will be same results for Mounjaro users.
The sceptical part of me thinks Eli Lilley won’t do research with supportive measures for coming off as it is in their financial interest for us all to be on it permanently. I am pretty certain in their studies it was just a cold turkey cessation with no advice on changing lifestyle etc

https://www.news-medical.net/news/20240514/Sustainable-weight-loss-with-personalized-semaglutide-dosing.aspx

EVK · 09/04/2025 19:52

@Bluenose1966 I’ll check that study out - I found the same info as you and it was 4 days today so I took it and will slowly go back to original day - one day at a time. So take on Tuesday next week and then Monday the week after etc. I feel fine so I’m sure all is well!! I’m guessing the important bit is not to take next dose before 7 days ?! Anyway - I’ve done it now 😅 @exhaustedandwholly im sorry to hear about your hair - I know how distressing that is - I also have very fine and thinning hair (thanks to both chemo - never grew back as well and menopause) I too take collagen and a vitamin with biotin along with some other ingredients for hair, nails and skin. Don’t know how much they help but my hair is a bit better and not coming out (last summer pre MJ I had a similar experience to the one you’re describing) I do think it could have been partly due to fasting? I don’t know? I also used regain in the past and that really helped with a little regrowth. I hope it stops for you soon - there’s a 6week (I seem to remember) cycle so you’re probably in the shedding phase. Defo try some supplements and slow weight loss obviously is best. Good luck.
