Great to see thread 2 so busy and welcome all newcomers!
Amazing weigh loss on the thread and it really gives me motivation and hope for the next 3 weeks.
Today is infection day 2 which I will when home from work and weigh in day for me. Starting to mindlessly snack yesterday so obviously symptoms wearing off.
Starting weight was 93.8kg
Current Weight 91.2kg
Loss is 2.6ks (3.5lbs) its not water retention as I had lost that the two weeks prior doing ketos/ very low calorie diet (stupid I know). I have a work event this weekend and I really wanted to lose weight and fit into a jumpsuit I wore last year (when not obese). Tried it on this morning but it doesn't fit so now I need to panic buy something!!
My face is less inflamed and puffy looking. I have done no exercise so need to do that this week.

Well done on your loss, I've also noticed my face is less puffy which makes me happy!
Also, I don't think you're stupid for trying very low calorie and keto, I dread to think how many times I've tried to lose weight, this has been life changing for me.

Thank you for that, you are very kind.
I consumed about 600 calories for 2 weeks before starting munjaro and felt awful, it was mainly water I lost. Food consumed my every thought and I actually fantasized about chips and chicken nearly every minute of my waking hours!
its only been a week on munjaro but I haven’t thought about food, or secret ate or deprived myself to the point of starvation which was my constant cycle for years. Same as you, I am so hopeful for my future. Just wish I could fit into the bloody jumpsuit for the weekend….😭

Hi everyone, I'm on day 3 of week 1.
In the past I have lost weight through very low carb diets and want to avoid that this time, and reduce but not exclude carbs, while being more careful with portion size and calories. I think I need to use a calorie tracker for the first few weeks - is anybody using an app for this? Which would you recommend (I almost always cook from scratch so I'm struggling to find one that's easy to use)

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 20/02/2025 13:16

Hi all,

Day 2 of week one and was put to the test. I took the kids to the cinema and I'm pleased to report not one snack passed my lips. I didn't have to make a huge effort either to pinch their popcorn, I was still full from breakfast.

Downloaded a calorie tracker app today so I can properly see what I'm eating and if I'm missing any particular food groups (fibre I'm looking at you 👀)

Yesterday I didn't eat enough, I know I didn't so don't want to be doing that.

Thanks for all the ongoing advice etc especially around the "golden" dose.

narkyspirit · 20/02/2025 13:18

2 weeks in and weigh in this morning, jab 3 on 2.5mg

Sw 95.9kg
Cw 92.7kg

Loss 3.2 kg (7lb)

Not as much weight loss as some on here but I'm comfortable with that loss maybe a stone in a month hopefully

I was hungry yesterday and craved a packet of crisps and will admit to giving in, biggest thing I've not wanted is alcohol, even tho there is wine in the fridge unopened.

HappyPie82 · 20/02/2025 13:56

Day 4 and I think i'm getting the food noise suppression. I had breakfast this morning and i just don't feel bothered about lunch where i'd normally be ravenous. Had to pop to the shop for mince for dinner and I didn't want to buy choc or biscuits which i'd normally snack on all day WFH.
Off to the cinema tonight and may have some popcorn and big water.

flipflop76 · 20/02/2025 15:02

My order from last night has been approved. I saw the GP letter they send out and it was quite a good one (Oushk). The delivery date says Tuesday 25th but I'm hoping it comes sooner. I'm happy with my decision now as I saw myself in a restaurant and felt pretty shocked. I'm sooo uncomfortable at this size.

I mostly cook from scratch too. I have just signed up for a 7 day trial of nutracheck, and you can save recipes on there, plus scan barcodes. It's designed for UK use and seems to work really well so far. Only £35 a year after that

TriangleLight · 20/02/2025 15:15

I’m still waiting for approval from Asda 🙈 Ordered Friday night. Other photos requested Monday and sent first thing tuesday

lastapache · 20/02/2025 15:20

Hello all - I'd like the join the thread if you don't mind.

I'm located in Ireland (the south) and Mounjaro has only got approval to be dispensed by pharmacies this week. I have been on Ozempic for the past year, but only up to the 1mg dose as that's all that was available in Ireland (Wegovy was never launched by Novo Nordisk here). I have lost 20lbs, down from 205 to 185 over the past year, with all of that weight lost in the first 14 weeks. I rang my GP this week and he's happy to swap me over to Mounjaro. The pharmacies here are really racking up the cost - €215 for the starter dose (about £190) going up to €295 (£250) for the 15mg pen. Instead of getting it at a pharmacy here, I am going to order it from a pharmacy in the North, who are happy to courier it down on receipt of my GP prescription. It works out a bit cheaper there.

My GP has recommended that I start on the 7.5mg dose for a month, and then move up to the 10mg dose, since I've already been on Ozempic for a year. Has anyone else done this? How did you find the transition?

I'm going to request the 15mg pen right from the start, so that I can count the clicks and take four 7.5mg doses and three 10mg doses. I know that you are technically supposed to use the pen up in four weeks but my GP has said that there's no issue in keeping it longer than that. It's not dangerous to take it after the four weeks, it's just that it's effectiveness might be a bit reduced. I'm going to try it anyway.

Oh, I'm using the Nutracheck app trial too but hadn't realised you could add recipes! That's really helpful to know - I also cook mostly from scratch and it's pretty tedious adding in allll the ingredients in eg a curry/traybake/dhal/veg omelette etc. I'll have a proper look at it!

@LollyWillow I'm the same, have previously had dramatic weight loss via very low carb but ultimately found it completely unsustainable and ended up doing the stereotypical thing of piling it all back on (and more!). I'm reducing carbs and calories and have basically cut out any refined crap like white bread/pasta/pastry etc, but I really want to use this as an opportunity to reset my eating habits - which means finding an approach that'll work long term!

Good luck 😊

Feb2025start · 20/02/2025 16:10

@lastapache ummm I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure that as Ozempic and Mounjaro have different active ingredients (albeit with a similar effect of appetite suppression) you would have to start at 2.5mg regardless. I can't see any pharmacy prescribing you 12.5mg straight off! Have you spoken to any of them? From my limited experience, in order to be prescribed anything over the starter dose of 2.5mg as a new patient you need to show evidence of your previous/existing prescription. Maybe the rules are different in NI...

EDIT - I missed that your GP is happy to prescribe you the doses you mention (rather than you getting the prescription itself privately) so I'm sure he knows better what can and can't be done!

lastapache · 20/02/2025 16:33

Actually, having done a bit of research, it seems the general advice is to start back at the 2.5mg dose, and only go higher if your GP has said it's ok. Now my GP has said it's okay to start on 7.5mg, but I think to be on the safe side I might start at 2.5mg for two weeks, then go to 5mg for two weeks, and then go to 7.5 for four weeks. Just to make sure I don't get an onslaught of side effects. I should still have a good amount of Oz in my system so I don't think my appetite will come raging back if I do it that way.

I haven't seen my GP's prescription - he has posted it directly to Corrys. So maybe he has prescribed me the 15mg dose as we discussed on the phone? I don't know. If I'm going with the above dosing schedule the pen would last me nine weeks. Hopefully it won't be completely useless as time goes on. I suppose if I feel the appetite come raging back, I'll email Corry's and ask for my next pen to be delivered.

EDIT: Btw, I don't think the rules are different in NI. My GP runs a well known obesity clinic, and he says he sends all his Mounjaro patients prescriptions to Corrys - for value for money purposes, so I expect they know him well. Perhaps that will make a difference in allowing me to start on the higher pen? I'm not sure.

LollyWillow · 20/02/2025 16:34

Thanks @Feb2025start & @PurpleCoo, I'd had a look at Nutracheck but hadn't noticed that you could add recipes. That sounds perfect.
I've always avoided calorie counting in the past but my portion sizes always seem to creep up and I think that's why I fail and what has to change this time.

Umthisisabitawkward · 20/02/2025 17:25

Hi, I’m just squeaking in - my first pen has been sitting in the fridge for a couple of weeks with me working up the courage to start (I have quite bad health anxiety and am fretting about allergic reactions 🙄) but I’ve decided to just get on and do my first injection tomorrow. Do people tend to inject in the evenings to try and sleep through any initial side effects? I’m worried about doing that in case I have an allergic reaction 🙄I was thinking maybe for the first one I’d do it in the daytime and then I could switch to doing it at night each week, once I haven’t had some ridiculous allergic response. (I’m not even allergic to ANYthing, as far as I know, it’s so stupid to be worrying about it). Anyway. Looking forward to joining you all! I’m going to weigh myself tomorrow and post it on here for a bit of accountability.

I was the same as you op! Honestly, just do it. Do it tonight. It doesn’t hurt. Youll be fine. Go for it 🙂

Hi everyone, thought I’d join as I did my third jab on Sunday and I’ve been dipping into various threads on here.

My first week was fine and I lost a few pounds. However, a couple of days after both my second and third jabs I’ve had the most terrible nausea and D&V. I had to take a day off work yesterday as I was so poorly. It’s really putting me off taking the final dose at the weekend. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve been suffering quite badly w nausea and tummy upset - I took a half dose week 2 but still quite unwell w2 d1 and then waking v early morning w multiple trips to loo on d2-4 (fine by lunchtime those days) and then feeling great last couple of days - due for jab tonight - but I may wait until tomorrow am - think I’m only going to risk 1.25 again…praying boy is getting used to it - cause still finding on 1.25 have good suppression / full feeling - haven’t weighed yet this but think all good - so don’t want to stop but equally can’t live forever w 4 am wake ups and cramping stomach

Itsbathtime · 20/02/2025 17:38

Body! Not boy!

Itsbathtime · 20/02/2025 17:41

Had first experience yesterday of being at a friends and being way too full to eat the portion she had given me - was a bit embarrassing! I’ve been servings myself at home so giving myself small portions / what I fancy - but she served me this time and I literally got to a point where I couldn’t eat anymore - I tried to eat more but it was impossible… she didn’t seem suspicious but if I start being way skinnier and doing that - I can see eyebrows raising!

MaddyM8 · 20/02/2025 18:29

Toom second dose an hour ago, I hope the side effects aren't as bad as last week! However I'm looking forward to the appetite suppression as I've been soooo hungry and wanting to eat everything in sight again the last day or two haha!

Yes, mine has definitely been due to portion size and grazing. 95% of what I eat is really good to be fair. It's the 5%, plus not tracking plus hormones that have just added up over time. I figured it'd best to get these habits ingrained whilst on MJ and it's easy to do, so it hopefully won't be as hard once I am off and the appetite comes back in force!

Although the biggest shock so far is that I currently need to track to make sure I am eating enough!

I think you need to find what’s working best for you as we can all have different side effects.
For some people evening is best for the reasons you describe.
I had an awful night after my first injection (did it at the end of the afternoon), couldn’t sleep, tachycardia, you name it.
So I did my second injection in the am. It worked perfectly for me.

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 20/02/2025 18:56

@PurpleCoo that seems to be my problem.

Although I'm only 2 days in, I know I didn't eat enough on day 1 so properly tracked today and I've still got 500cals left. Not fancying anything else either 🤦‍♀️

ridiculouslyridiculous · 20/02/2025 19:09

Lots of people saying that they need to make sure they are eating enough calories.
Forgive me if I'm being dim - but why?
Surely the less calories you eat, the more you lose?
I had my first injection yesterday and haven't been tracking but haven't eaten much at all.

Romanswindowcleaner · 20/02/2025 19:20

@ridiculouslyridiculous i have had so much suppression (only on day 4 jab 1) that I could happily not eat at all. I skipped dinner last night as couldn’t manage it. I’ve already lost 1.5kg in four days. Some will be water weight as I’ve naturally cut down on carbs but not all of it.

I’ve just made myself eat a 600 cal dinner as if I lose weight too quickly I will definitely lose muscle and possibly hair (I’ve got thin hair to start with). If I’m not eating enough I won’t get enough fibre and micronutrients for good health either (I don’t want to have to start taking vitamins because I’m malnourished!).
