So my 7.5 is still working to the bloody max. . Day after injection and not eaten yet, suppression is 100% . I don't eat to go down a dose as I know from Thursday I will feel normal again.. but thought as was my 3rd 7.5 pen it would be less over time.

Not complaining, a couple of days of too few calories ain't gonna harm me, just amazed it's still working so strongly..

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2025 14:44

Big hugs @WitchDancer ((hugs)) sone have lost lots. Amazing 5/6s

my 4 has been almost a year as I’ve included what I lose via sw. So it’s 3s with mj

no one meant to make you feel bad I’ve read so many times that people think mj is a fast easy way to lose weight - so yes I have replied to them that they do still need to watch what they eat - sorry if I upset you 💐

I use my fitness pal after sone in here said about it .

It’s free and has a bar code scan so anything you eat scan it and tells you the cals protein carbs etx

or just type in what you eat and it finds it

meals vary - but here are a few days if helps

I do use ready meals the nights I work and still lose weight

it’s the over all cals - this is rough guide from my memory but the app is more precise

b oat pot 230
l cuppa soup 100 bread 90
t spag bol - pasta 180 mince 140 cheese 118 dolmio 56 veg
s crisps 90 skinny whip 80

b toast 90 fried eggs 156 bacon 54
l banana 90 apple 80
t micro meal steak and mash 330
s crisps 90 skinny whip 80

b protein shake 240
l chicken 100 rice 210
t jacket 100 tuna 90 sc lite 30
s crisps 125

I have 1200c a day

I try to have b 250 l 250 t 400 s 200

doesnt always work out like that but a rough guide a lighter lunch and bigger tea

what was your starting weight /bmi and what would you ideally need to get to for bmi 25

I need to lose 6s to get to a top end healthy bmi 25. Not sure I will manage it but still trying

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2025 14:46

@morbidcuriosityyiy haven’t eaten at all ? Wow. Is that wise ? Maybe lower dose

I was always under the impression that good to have suppression so leave some on plate /smaller portions but to not eat at all can’t be healthy

Waves to fellow July babies @Blondeshavemorefun and @NippyNinjaCrab. I've got a couple of extra years on you two though.

WitchDancer · 11/02/2025 15:06

@Blondeshavemorefun thank you, that is really helpful information. I'll go and have a look at the app. Please don't feel the need to apologise though - it was a wake up call I needed Flowers

morbidcuriosity · 11/02/2025 15:15

Ah I didn't get up till late as just finished night shifts, so not as bad as it looks.. I've had a protein shake now, and will eat plain chicken breast and veg later, even though I could easily go without.

weaselyeyes · 11/02/2025 15:21

@witchdancer it can be hard to realise how much you're eating/not eating if you're not used to it! Calorie counting is definitely half the battle. Ready meals at least have the advantage of being relatively easy to calculate as you can scan them or add up the calories they give on the nutrition label. Non-processed foods are much better for you, though, if you're up to cooking. It can be a bit laborious at first, but I'd suggest making a few meals where you weigh and measure ingredients as you cook to get the hang of it. You then know what the whole dish contains in terms of calories and you can just divide it by portions eg a whole lasagne might be 2000 calories but you just eat a fifth of it so it's 400. Don't forget to include things like cooking oil or cheese on top as it's surprising how much your idea of what you've used can vary from reality. Once you've done this a few times, you don't need to be so precise every meal (and it can be a bit soul-destroying) as you have a much better idea of what you're doing and can just repeat meals and know what they're likely to be.

I do track calories as I find it easy to slide inexorably towards bigger portions and I'm only short so can't eat much (not nearly as much as I want to). I think once you've got your head round calories, though, it's good to think through what you want those calories to consist of, as they're not all equal in terms of health and how you feel. Prioritising a variety of plants/seeds etc along with protein and fibre seems the best advice,, depending on your particular dietary proclivities/requirements. Everyone's got something they don't want to do without.

I've always been a calorie counter as I've had a lifetime of struggling with weight. It's only in recent years I realised that calories weren't the whole story.

NippyNinjaCrab · 11/02/2025 15:32

@WitchDancer fellow Fibro/ME/broken body sufferer here 🙋‍♀️. I do struggle with fatigue quite badly and making sure I eat properly was always my downfall. I'd opt for carb heavy meals, pasta and bread. What's helped me in the beginning, apart from suppression, is not buying a lot of the things that are tempting for me. I initially cut out bread, white pasta and switched from low fat to full fat yoghurt and milk. Bought dark chocolate 70% plus cocoa content too. I now have pasta and rice but I always weigh it out to what a portion should be on the packet. So 60g of rice usually, it's enough. I don't have any processed meals but I do recommend the Iceland My protein meals or the slimming world meals for days when you're struggling. I make a curry or bolognese sauce and freeze some portions. Use either my fitness pal to log your meals or nutracheck app. I don't count calories I just make sure I eat lots of protein, some carbs which are normally in the form of veg and brown rice or pasta, and I have full fat yoghurt with some seeds nuts and berries. Sorry for the waffle, you can do this! Xx

WitchDancer · 11/02/2025 15:39

Thank you all for your support and suggestions. I've downloaded the app so that will be a huge help.

I have done slimming world in the past and enjoyed their ready meals so that is a great suggestion, thank you. I will also look into the boxes of meals as another baby step too.

I'm feeling a little more optimistic and certainly a lot happier. Chin up, tits out and stop feeling sorry for myself!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2025 15:39

I must go to Iceland and look at their protein meals. And do sw do then as well ?

I like to coop ones and Lidl do a nice pasta spa bake and a rice chicken thing

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2025 15:44

What is do find scary /alarming is when I put in cans of what I ate on sw and some days I was having 2500 so double

a massive plate of pasta/spag bol could be 800c

I weigh out 50g of pasta now. Does f look a lot but it is enough

I have half a jacket so around 100 and half a tin of tins 50 and salad

before a whole jacket and tuna so 200 and 100

beans on toast x 2 180 plus whole tins of beans 400 and big dump of cheese 250

now I have one slice of toast 90 and half a tin 200 and 30g cheese 118

it is portion size as well

what people eat and think normal , actually isn’t

how much more do you want to lose @WitchDancer. Wouid dh help by having a healthier i meal some nights

nothing wrong with pizza. I have each week but eat 1/2 so about 350c topping varying

before eat a whole one and garlic bread etx

I had a NSnonV yesterday. I needed to renew my passport so had to take a photo. I hate photos and hardly have any of me, apart from driving licence, passport and the odd one. This isn't just weight related, though it doesn't help! I don't photograph well, but even photos where I look quite nice still don't feel like me when I look at them. I think my inner self image is just very different from the reality of a snapshot, and it makes me feel all awkward and self-conscious for ages when I see a photo. Anyway, this time I thought at least my face will be thinner than last time!

My face was thinner, which was great, but I'd forgotten it would also be ten years older and the years from 51 to 61 have not been very kind to me! They eye bags! The lines on my face! The greying hair! The patchy skin! Honestly, it was not pleasant. Thank god I have actually lost weight or there would have been nothing to redeem the situation. I intend to sulk for three days, get over myself, and avoid all photos for another ten years 😀In cheerier news, I have been wearing the miraculous size 12 jeans and learning to accept the draught excluder.

Waves to fellow July babies @Blondeshavemorefun and @NippyNinjaCrab. I've got a couple of extra years on you two though.

Mine is 6th July...think I am the eldest here. Will be 69 this year. 69 always makes me giggle..if anyone knows the bingo call for that number 😅 always a teenager in my head 😅 'They' have banned that type of bingo calling I hear!

WitchDancer · 11/02/2025 16:04

I think I will be the same @Blondeshavemorefun - I never took much notice of portion sizes on Slimming World, although they do say everything in moderation. I did like it cos there was no weighing portions, something I am going to have to do if I want to loose this weight.

DH is supportive but he's got no idea of healthy eating, plus he already cooks three different meals for the family every mealtime.

I've got 3 stone 4 lb to loose, having lost 2 stone 2 lb already.

We've an Iceland in the local vicinity so I'll check out their high protein meals.

NippyNinjaCrab · 11/02/2025 16:04

@Azuresky68 @Blondeshavemorefun @poppym12 hello fellow July superstars, I'm the 2nd of July, are we all Cancerians? X

I'm December birthday so Sagittarius

WitchDancer · 11/02/2025 16:14

We've got a Lidl across the road from the office so I'll check that out too.

Azuresky68 · 11/02/2025 16:45

I make most of my own food. Recommend looking at Bethany Dobson on Insta for really easy recipes. Last night I made her alternative to a pizza but just used what I had in fridge and freezer..tortilla wrap with tomato puree spread on it. Added tomatoes and onions that I softened in microwave, cooked chicken and 30g grated cheese. Wrapped it up and banged in my air fryer for a few minutes. 433 calories according to MFP. I do loads of bulk cooking so for that recipe I had frozen 100g cooked chicken leftover from Sunday roast. A few days a week I am on my own so that's why I bulk cook and portion up. I made a beef casserole with an Aldi seasoning mix (44p a packet) and pack of fresh casserole ready prepared veg. Tonight I am making chicken casserole, again using Aldi casserole mix. I freeze flat (saves so much space in freezer) in plastic zip lock bags and nowadays I actually label everything. I used to eat a lot of Iceland Slimming World ready meals but prefer home made stuff and it's much cheaper but nothing wrong with a decent ready meal if you like them. Would rather buy a ready made cottage pie, lasagne and fish pie as too much bother to make. Happy eating to all!

Azuresky68 · 11/02/2025 16:48

After what I was saying about being on my phone far too much I am committing to switching off by 5 pm every day for a week. Had a great evening everyone 😀

WitchDancer · 11/02/2025 17:00

Thank you for the suggestion @Azuresky68

poppym12 · 11/02/2025 17:18

Yes, I'm also crabby @NippyNinjaCrab (especially today as husband has kindly shared his lurgy with me. Razor blade throat and a banging headache. Great).

WitchDancer · 11/02/2025 17:41

@NippyNinjaCrab just re-reading, and you say you've swapped to full fat yogurt and milk. Can I ask why please, as it's sort of contradictory to what I've been told in the past? Thank you
