@Blondeshavemorefun 4.5 stone is 4.5 stone is massive however long it's taken and the bulk has been since August.

Interestingly with sizing I put in my waist measurement (now I know it!) into google with uk size and did come out as a 12 which is what I comfortably am (with a few 10s) so was accurate for me. Obviously they vary with how loose they are depending on shop but the measurements did equal the correct size.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 21:06

What does 36 come out as ? Thanks

Sounds right as I can't get into a 16

Tho the 18's are def very baggy

Thank you @owlyboo

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 21:10

Like I say I can get into some 10s so I think they're going off 'official' measurements rather than vanity sizing so I'm sure you'll be in 16s soon!!

WorriedRelative · 24/02/2025 22:18

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 19:18

I’m screwed. I’m 5/7 so 67 inch. Waist should be 33

its 36

I'm 5ft8 and top heavy, reducing my waist is really tough but I need to do it for health reasons. I recently discovered a family history of heart disease, to go with the history of stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

I am thinking I probably need to get my BMI on the lower side in light of that lot.

WorriedRelative · 24/02/2025 22:19

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 19:48

@Blondeshavemorefun seems like that's the cut off yes. I really think you will though. We're similar heights and I'm down to the weight you're aiming for (well but less but inline with our heights I would imagine and mine is fine, just checked it. So (I realise I've said this a million times to you and you're probably like shut up you broken record!) but this next lot of weight you lose will be the game changer! My last 2 stone were the ones that made the difference shape wise. I went from having size 18-20s and didn't rebuy until I was at a 12! It just suddenly dropped!

Mine came in at .45 waist 29.92 and height 66

0.45 is brilliant, well done!

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 22:26

@WorriedRelative id never even heard of it so thanks for another NSV!

Thats the thing with bmi isn't I understand some people think it's bollocks but to honest it works for me. When I reached the correct bmi I have to honest the high end seems just about right for me to healthy but a little less would be better I can see that for some it needs to be lower and for for some maybe it might need to be higher. But I do think it works as a general rule you need to be somewhere in that range ideally. But if you're higher I don't think it makes you necessarily unhealthily if that makes sense.

Timetochange24 · 24/02/2025 22:32

I've always found it really hard to get an accurate waist measurement 😕 How tight do you hold the tape measure for a start? They seem designed for solid surfaces!!

I've just measured myself as 36 inches which Asos and M&S both say is a size 18. But in actual clothes I'm thinking about going shopping for new jeans because my M&S size 12s are getting a bit baggy.

Am I doing something wrong with the tape measure or am I just weird shaped?

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 22:36

@Timetochange24 Google says at your smallest part just above your belly button, I would say tight to your tummy, the measurement I got vs Google uk size was pretty accurate and that's what I did and used a builders tape 😂 as that's all I had!

Timetochange24 · 24/02/2025 22:43

I have a squishy tummy and really square ribs. Don't think I have a "natural waist" - I'm like a box with boobs 😆 Maybe the toilet roll effect will kick in now I'm close to target bmi and the last 4 inches will just disappear?

I don't have an 'hourglasss' figure so you might be suprised! I have massive boobs and nothing else!

Stamps foot

you have same size waist as me but 12’s are baggy

i could say something really rude here but I won’t 😂

@Blondeshavemorefun I'm also not much taller than my 10yo so it makes sense I fill up my clothes differently. My best friend is really tall and lean and probably weighs about what I do now so she must have a pretty low BMI but wears a 14 to 16 because otherwise there isn't enough trouser to go round her. I looked up the height/waist chart posted up thread and I'm still nowhere near the healthy ratio.

Timetochange24 · 24/02/2025 23:54

You can say something rude while I'm hauling chairs around the house to reach things off not very high shelves.

PoemsForTea · 25/02/2025 07:05

My waist to height is 0.6. Apparently my waist measurement equates to a dress size 22/24. I promise I'm not squeezing into my 16's!
I'm basically a menopausal cylinder!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2025 07:13

I think it just goes to prove that shapes and bodies are all diff

yes I’m glad I’m 5/7 and don’t need to stand on stuff 😂

but you all know how frustrated I am at the moment over sizing

hopefully the last few stones will make a diff

@Timetochange24 I'm similar in terms of sizing (sorry @Blondeshavemorefun 😉), my waist is 35 in, so waist to height is 0.58 but I’m 5 ft tall/short and in size 12 which I can feel are loose🤷🏻‍♀️and some things are a size 10 like my winter coat. But bmi is 28.1 and still have almost 2 stones to lose so shorties are deceptive

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2025 07:53

That’s so weird @Slimhopes

how can you be a 12 but still need to lose maybe a stone + to get to bmi 25

not fair !! 😛😛

Does anyone else find the results of MJ almost unbelievable? I think I’m finding it hard to come to terms with everything?

Firstly I might be in denial that I actually was obese at one point. Like I definitely felt fat - but clinically obese?! (I was dressing to hide my figure so looking back at the odd few pictures I have, it’s hard to tell. Feels like a fever dream!)

Then to have lost the weight, also feels incredibly surreal. It’s like having whiplash. It took 4 months to get to healthy, and in total I have lost 22kg since August. I still can’t quite fathom where all that weight actually dropped off from.

It’s been a good but confusing time!

MJ is life changing for sure. I’m so glad it exists.

Azuresky68 · 25/02/2025 10:09

Good morning! Just been reading the latest messages...all very interesting about waist ratio thing, calorie amounts and clothes sizing. Also interesting to hear about other peoples experience when young and how we approach the subject with our own children. I totally get all the ups and downs of our journey..how well we are all doing 👏 🤗💐❤️ In M&S I am now size 8, probably 10 in other brands...feel so good about that. I still have boob's but not too big and I can definitely pinch more than an inch on tummy and hips but I really don't care! Have always wanted to be taller but that isn't going to happen.. I am shrinking! My other half says he never noticed my weight gain but he has certainly noticed the loss 😅 Whatever my weight he has always said I look like Goldie Hawn when she was young and wearing only a t shirt 😅 I am happy with that as a compliment! I have bounced back now after a difficult couple of weeks. Have had to take codeine for back pain on top of 12.5 mg MJ. Today is the first day I am not in pain for more than 2 weeks and I now realise how much pain drains you ..and that's on top of the MJ fatigue. Thanks for always being there on this thread.

Just wanted to mention that I started today taking Nutition Geeks Glow Up Collagen powder in my morning coffee at a friend's suggestion. It's 50 calories but 12.6 g protein and tasteless. Not suitable for vegetarians. Don't normally use supplements but been good for when I struggle with nausea and don't fancy anything to eat. On those days I cant even get a protein shake down as it tastes too sickly. I bought 2 packets for £24 to get a big discount and that's 60 servings. Totally taste free.

Azuresky68 · 25/02/2025 10:19

@eeeeeeeee. Totally agree with you. Worth every penny or should I say £££'s 😅😅
