Wow who would have thought it

We are doing so well. 7mths

Hugs all the auggies and all of us have lost a fair amount of weight

Some still have weight to lose myself included

Equally a few are nearing their healthy bmi or have reached it and thinking about maintaining

And all I can say is an elephants penis 😂😂😂

A lb is still a loss @Slimhopes and in. Year that’s 4s

but Kwym. I was 2lbs for a long time

how do you measure waist v height

think most of us @Azuresky68 say the same.

eat less. Calorie count

that’s what we are doing

and it’s not like most of us are losing 4/5a week as many think when hear mj

just keeps us full longer or reduces so eat less

@Princessandthepie that’s how I feel as well. I may have list an elephants penis 😂 but I look in the mirror and don’t really see the diff.

Still have huge thighs and bum and tum

same with jeans. 18 baggy. Falling down literally but I can’t get into sodding 16. The pair I literally squeezed my legs into and pulled up thighs and couldn’t do up
trued a few pairs now and same

@WorriedRelative it’s still a loss so well done

I do drink water but often add in squash as well

I’ve heard about the waist to heigh but what is it

and great NSV with coat

www.omnicalculator.com/health/waist-height-ratio

Here's a calculator for waist to height ratio but you are aiming for your waist to be half your height or less.

It is a really important indicator for heart health so I think more attention should be paid to it and I keep pointing it out to people who don't believe in BMI

Slimhopes · 24/02/2025 16:21

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun and @WorriedRelative - didn’t realise its to be half height or less so that’s helpful to know. I need to lose 5 inches from my waist at least then.
Anyone else still self sabotage with food?! Or is it just me…😖 have just eaten a pack of chocolate snack things I forgot I’d bought the other week and ate the whole pack (479 calories😳). And I’m on 12.5 mg! I don’t know if I’ll ever have a proper off switch. Generally I’ve been uninterested in chocolate but if it’s around, it can bother me. And I know if I’d lost more weight in the last few weeks, my resolve to ignore the snacks would have been stronger but I still have the ‘I’ve failed so I’ll eat crap’ mentality lingering. To be fair to myself I’ve only had 2 or 3 days since I started MJ where I’ve sabotaged my efforts and this is week 29/30 for me. I do now feel slightly sick but hell mend me lol.
re childhood weight issues, I can remember the embarrassment of my mum saying how fat I’d got when i was 10 and various comments. It started a constant binge cycle with me which is still with me pre MJ and Im in my 50s. And photos of 10 year old me? I was not fat at all but I did go through puberty then so my shape was changing and self esteem on the floor. Also being the only obvious one going through earlier puberty in my class was hard enough 😬

Weepixie · 24/02/2025 17:14

Hi guys, how are you? I haven’t read back but I hope you’re all as well and as happy as can be.

I don’t know what’s up with me but I have the rage about knocking my bloody pan in doing everything I’m supposed to be doing and never losing the one pound a week that said to be the lower end of expected. It even says on the literature I have that if you’re not losing an average of a pound per over 4 weeks then it’s time to go up a dose but there’s no way I can go up to 10 as it genuinely did make me feel poorly tor a few weeks when I did,

Im just so frustrated.

I was never overweight till I had my last child, he’s severely disabled, and all the years of looking after my darling boy meant a gradual weight gain over 3 decades.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 17:20

@Slimhopes I’ve said many times I don’t seem to have the shut off valve that mj is meant to do

i still went crisps chocolate and eat it but in my cals

@Weepixie what have you lost the last few weeks

per pen I usually lose 4/6lbs

tho on my 2nd 10 I think I had a month of losing 1 lb. It was annoying

can you go to 8. Then 8.5. Then 9 etx so slow increase

weaselyeyes · 24/02/2025 17:26

@Weepixie Yes, I'd second just creeping the dose up a little. I've had side effects every time I've tried going up a whole dose, so I went back down and then crept up, sometimes just by 2 or 3 clicks at a time every other week. I think I'm on about 6mg now (looks proud).

Weepixie · 24/02/2025 17:39

Hi guys. Thank you. I initially went up to 10’and it knocked me sideways so I then went to 7.5 again and worked my way back up to 9 before going back to 7.5 I was so unwell. It just seems that anything over 7.5 is too much for my system.

In the last 3 weeks I’ve lost 800 gms which is 1lb 7 ounces. And the funny thing is that I’ve never gained on the journey and I’ve had 1 week of staying the same. So it is coming off but I’m just not getting out of it what I’m putting into it effort wise.

weaselyeyes · 24/02/2025 18:03

Maybe try 8? It sounds really trying for you, but I found small increments made a difference for me. On the other hand, maybe you could try changing your foods up a bit? It's easy to get stuck in a rut with safe repeatable things. You may just be destined to lose slowly, unfortunately, unless you cut down calories a fair bit (which you may not want to do, and would be fair enough!). That would be a pain, but it does sounds like you are losing fairly consistently. I'd be inclined to stick with a downwards trajectory, even if it's slower than I liked. Sympathies, though, it sounds maddening. What kinds of food are you eating?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 18:12

@Weepixiehow many cals are you having. Ru eating heathily ?

@weaselyeyesbe proud for 6

I'd say that's pretty good isn't it? It's only a few inches and you're not at goal so once you are those inches will have probably gone as well and be well within healthy range?

Need to find a tape measure to do mine... god knows where it is!

Regarding calories I’m on 1400 a day and I eat very healthily. But I did so even prior to the Mounjaro. It was my ‘thing’ yes I’m overweight but I don’t eat rubbish, my weight is all about quantity. I can recall being very angry once when my Dr asked me about fast food, cakes and biscuits etc. How dare he insult me!!! I was a special kind of fat person. I’m so ashamed of that now though 😔

In brief I’ve been what’s now termed a ‘clean eater’ for years. I don’t have takeaways or UPF and everything is cooked from scratch. I also grow my own vegetables half of the year.

I work out with a personal trainer who also does nutrition and I’m now more high protein based than higher carb.

I think I’ll go back up again on my next injection day but just by a 3 or 4 clicks and see where that will take me health wise. I don’t even know why I’m so peed of because all it really means is that instead of reaching target by my 67th birthday at the beginning of April I’ll now reach it by the beginning of July. Oh and I think I’ll start staggering my calories over the week as that might help with things.

thank you 😊

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 19:48

@Blondeshavemorefun seems like that's the cut off yes. I really think you will though. We're similar heights and I'm down to the weight you're aiming for (well but less but inline with our heights I would imagine and mine is fine, just checked it. So (I realise I've said this a million times to you and you're probably like shut up you broken record!) but this next lot of weight you lose will be the game changer! My last 2 stone were the ones that made the difference shape wise. I went from having size 18-20s and didn't rebuy until I was at a 12! It just suddenly dropped!

Mine came in at .45 waist 29.92 and height 66

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 19:56

@Blondeshavemorefun I wish I wasn't so crap and had taken other measurements at other weights as that would have probably given more hope but I didn't!

I know you're going to do it!!

weaselyeyes · 24/02/2025 19:58

It feels even more unfair that you're doing everything right @weepixie! It may still be worth changing your food up for a few days - not that there's anything wrong with it, just to give your body a bit of a surprise! I eat similarly to you, am vegetarian but eat very little dairy, and need to avoid bread and carbs to lose weight. I find having the odd bread holiday sometimes helps, though, as does the occasional meal of baked beans and a potato. I couldn't eat it very often, but now and then seems to help. I generally try to eat under 1000 calories as I'm short and that's what it takes, but a day every now and then when I eat a bit over helps. Also going the other way sometimes, I might just have one meal a day one day a week, or just eat raw foods for a couple of days once in a while. I feel it all stirs the digestion up a bit 😀I'm not a particularly fast loser, but I don't have much to play with on a restricted diet, so these kinds of things have helped a bit if I felt I was stalling.

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 20:02

@weaselyeyes @Weepixie must be so frustrating being shorter and more restricted! The world is set up for big portions and it's usually drilled into us as children to finish your food so much harder when you need less calories to begin with!

weaselyeyes · 24/02/2025 20:02

And @Blondeshavemorefun , I second @owlyboo in that there's no reason your waist won't get to that size fairly soon. It just does seem to go in phases. Everything seemed fairly static for me, then the 3.5-4 stone loss suddenly seemed to have an impact on size and shape. I think everyone will have a different point where it kicks in for them, though, depending on height, starting weight, build etc. Being only 3 inches away from a healthy waist size sounds very close to me!

weaselyeyes · 24/02/2025 20:09

@owlyboo It really is frustrating! No one says to you that you can't eat as much because you're short until you consult a diet app, and then it's too late! Standard calories for women are way too high for me. No one gives portion size options in restaurants. And like you say, I was brought up having to finish my food. I was by far the youngest in my family and my parents and grandparents had all lived through poverty and rationing, so having food was both a privilege and a duty - not something where you decided when you were full and left the rest.

I don't suppose it would be a fun world if we went around saying to short people Oh, you can't have as much as others, but I do think it should be easier to order different size meals and portions more readily.

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 20:24

No @weaselyeyes that's very true! I do think it's a hard balance isn't it. I don't want to give my son/daughter a complex about food but also want them to understand portion control and not overeating and I put on weight as a teen and it was horrible and your body doesn't bounce back as easily if you've been bigger as a teen I've found.

I try to balance it by allowing the kids (within reason!) to eat as much as they want at meal times including a pudding or a few sweets or something but then we don't have snacks outside of that unless it's for a treat like the cinema/popcorn with a movie/ ice cream at the beach.

I've never spoken about size etc. or losing weight with the children just about how much we need to eat and what we need to eat. Hopefully it's falling on the right side of helpful!

My daughter has obviously noticed I've lost a significant amount of weight but I've concentrated on the fact I've done it for health benefits and not once commented on how I looked / used words like fat/thin.

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 20:24

Sorry that was a bit of a ramble!

weaselyeyes · 24/02/2025 20:29

You've got a way to go to rival my rambling 😀

owlyboo · 24/02/2025 20:30

@weaselyeyes 😂😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 20:51

@Weepixieyou are pissed off as it is slow and hard when others lose consistent 3/4lb a week

I wouod be the same and annoyed if lose lb or sts

I’m impressed you grow your own stuff. Well done

honestly @owlybooi can’t imagine getting to 11st tho i was that 20yrs ago

im fine with a Broken record 😘

more people are noticing now and when I say I’ve lost 4.5s they are wow - I then say that’s from April so taken me almost year

the toilet roll thing is true. People don’t notice the first few sheets. It’s not till the end of the roll that they notice and say wow

im hoping the next stone will get to a 14 when I can’t even get into a 16. Or I can just with serious tugging and then literally can’t breathe or move /walk in them and have to peel them off inside out to get out of them

thank you @owlyboo for the encouragement - I could work out mine as have written down each week what I have lost but the size thing bugs me

agree and I’ve said before it was finish whata on your plate as a child. And you would !!

thanks @weaselyeyes- 3 inches is half of an average man’s Willy - so I’m told 😂

the portions in restaurants are insane. Yes paying for food and you want to get your moneys worth but …..

I had spag bol for tea - was a small portion but enough for me

pasta 100g cooked so 50 dry roughly

on sw and life I would prob have 4 times that 🙀 and eat it ☺️ hence how we all got porky
