@myladyjane sorry you're feeling down. But it's probably just a plateau, I always have them when I try to lose weight. For some reason, even if I starve myself, the scale just gets stuck.
It is normally followed by a sudden drop, so fx this happens to you as well. You are still losing, even if slowly at the moment.

Jins · 26/02/2025 08:57

@myladyjane sorry to hear you’re feeling blue. 🤗

You’ve lost 12.5lbs. That’s 2lb a week. Even if you take the 6lb off it’s a 1lb a week. That’s absolutely perfect in weight loss terms. I’m averaging about the same as you. My biggest weekly loss has been 2.4lbs and I’ve had a couple of 0.2lbs in there. I think you just have to ignore the losses of other people and just focus on the bigger picture. You’ve lost nearly a stone and that’s fantastic.

Some of us need to be on higher doses. You may be one of them. I think I am too but honestly 1-2lbs a week on average is text book ideal weight loss

Menstrual cycle symptom this morning, Started my period 3 days early, haven’t had that before, so will keep track of next month with interest.

Yeah, mine is earlier, heavier and longer on MJ.

DGonMJ · 26/02/2025 09:17

@myladyjane sending big hugs to you. Please be kind to yourself, as others say you’re absolutely heading in the right direction. Is there anything you can do to distract yourself this week?

cloudjumper · 26/02/2025 09:28

W9D1 - weigh day today, and I have now lost 7.9 kg since the 1st January. NSV - all my clothes are fitting much looser, and I am tempted to try my size 14 jeans... The size 16 ones are literally falling down now (I don't own any belts, haven't needed any for years 😂)! I'm still obese, but my BMI has dropped from nearly 35 down to 32. So so pleased with all this.
Yes, I'd still like to shed the pounds faster than 1 kg/week, but for the first time in literally years, I feel that I can stick with the 'programme' (don't want to call it diet) and don't feel daunted by it. I should get to target weight by the end of July, just in time for the summer holidays🤗
We've got one of those machines that measure segmental body fat and muscle mass, and I will do measurements tonight. Very curious as to how it'll look compared to early January!

SW 100.7 kg
CW 92.8 kg
GW 70 kg

myladyjane · 26/02/2025 09:30

Thank you for being kind and I know you are right. I am still crying which is just bizarre so I suspect i am just a bit hormonal. My skin has flared up as well.

My husband is a lucky lucky man....

HeavyHeidi · 26/02/2025 09:41

@cloudjumper that's exactly how I feel - whenever I was losing weight before, I knew it was a temporary effort, because I could not possibly live like that. It was like being on an intense running training program for a specific race - with the knowledge that yes it's hard, but you can relax after the race.
But now it feels more like a decision to go for a few weekly jogs. Yes, I can live like this for years to come.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 26/02/2025 10:22

@myladyjane Loads of sympathy. This is the tyranny of the scales - as much as we don’t want it to dictate our mood, it’s very difficult for it not to.

I can’t imagine it’s actually any consolation, but my total loss is 4.5lbs for over 5 weeks - so you’re streaking ahead of me! There’s always the hope that at some point, at some dose, it will all click in.

IdentityCrisis101 · 26/02/2025 10:45

I have finally seen a new stone number! Weight loss has definitely slowed down, around 1.5lbs/2lbs a week but I'm okay with that, the first few weeks larger loss means the average over 3lbs a week but the past few weeks is definitely slower.

SW 14 stones 11 3/4 lbs
CW 12 stones 13lbs

I have felt my mood hasn't been great too, I have tried to up my calories as I have struggled most days, the past few days my mood has better when I've eaten more.

I am not as cold.. I suffered badly the first month with feeling cold all the time. This has settled off.

I have also dropped a dress size.. potentially two. I was a 16/18 and I've just bought some 12/14 clothes and they do fit! Big NSV.

CurlsandCurves · 26/02/2025 11:43

@myladyjane sorry to hear you’re feeling low. But like others say, you’re doing great, look at the bigger picture. Having seen a few Shotsy graphs on here, most people’s weight loss averages at 1-2 lb a week long term, as those big losses at the start that some people get are balanced out by slower steadier loss over time.

AuntiePushpa · 26/02/2025 07:51

How are people doing in terms of getting their fibre in? Things I used to eat with fibre are more carby than I like to eat on the injections. I suppose there's fruit (skin primarily) but I don't know if that's enough really

I take a psyllium husk supplement for this ( capsules) - which prevents the dreaded constipation.

AuntiePushpa · 26/02/2025 12:14

Side niggle. I know BMI is broad brush and not a super reliable tool. Still I'm finding myself unreasonably annoyed at the further-away-targets to get into the healthy weight category when ethnicity is factored in. Looking it up, these different scales were introduced years ago but I had no idea! Of my multiple interim goals I now have 'healthy when ethnicity unspecified', a couple more milestones, then 'healthy BMI for Asian British'. Wondering if anyone else has shared my entirely unreasonable annoyance.

discoballv · 26/02/2025 12:14

Does anyone else feel really lethargic? I was doing fine up until a couple of days ago.
Have a vaguely sicky feeling and I am exhausted and my limbs feel devoid of any energy whatsoever. Really struggled to wake myself up this morning.

I did the extra dose of my 2.5 pen last Thursday which equated to around 3.1mg but it seems to have hit me like a truck a few days in. Very strange as 2.5mg was doing nothing for me in weeks 3 and 4. I've felt completely fine up until this point.

I've been a bit off my food the past few days so have had a protein shake for lunch, snacked on nuts and then had a big protein/salad meal for tea so maybe I'm not eating enough? I don't count calories at all because I hate it.

My husband and dd are ill at the minute but I don't feel ill in the same way they do, so I think it's the MJ. I'm due to take my first 5mg dose tomorrow but don't know if I should put it off or count clicks and do a smaller dose?

I think a lot of people don't bother with BMI as it's such an outdated concept now, so I wouldn't put too much importance on it if I were you!

Aww I'm sorry you're feeling down. Do you know what? I bet you'll come on in the next few days and then you'll feel fine again - I always do that. It's like I forget how my period makes me feel every single month (like a crazy person), then it comes and I'm like "oh, of course!" 😂

And to reiterate what others have said, 12lbs is great - it's moving in the right direction which is fabulous. Just keep going! I bet you'll have a whoosh soon.

Saggyknickers · 26/02/2025 12:23

What dose are you on btw myladyjane?

Jins · 26/02/2025 12:23

@AuntiePushpa How do I say that BMI is a load of nonsense without saying it’s a load of nonsense? 🤣. DH has a BMI higher than my current BMI and well into overweight yet there’s not an ounce of fat on him. Mine is slightly lower but my body fat measurements put me well into obese. At BMI 25 I’ll still be overweight in terms of body fat.

I would use them as interim targets and focus more on what’s a healthy and sustainable weight for you

Yes I'm really lethargic and have been since about the 2nd/3rd week. I'm forcing myself to go out walking every day but yesterday my legs felt like lead. I've bought some dumbbells which I don't have the energy to lift! It's hard to know whether it's the MJ or lack of nutrients/calories. I'm going to try to really hit my calories today. Everything I am eating is very healthy and I'm taking collagen, vit D, Iron and now B12 too. Hoping they kick in soon.

I think I read that BMI was first brought about in the mid 19th century so not really conducive to how people live/eat today. Obviously it's a guideline but it shouldn't been taken too seriously. For my height (5"8") it says 8 stone 10 would be considered a healthy weight which is bollocks. I'd be dead before I reached that weight! When I get to 11 stone I'm a size 10 and I have no desire to look anorexic.

Jins · 26/02/2025 12:40

@Saggyknickers the bottom end of the healthy BMI for me is 7.5 stone! I’ve been there once as an adult on the heartbreak diet and I looked and felt awful.

Ugh sorry to hear you're feeling the same. I wonder if i maybe need some supplements too? I don't know where to start!

I'm also eating really well in general. Plenty of protein, whole foods, nothing processed and lots of water. Eating this may usually makes me feel great!

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 26/02/2025 12:48

Oooh, it’s possible I’m having my first side effect. I’m sitting at my desk in the office, wondering if I might throw up and feeling shivery and jittery.

Having said that, I got about 4 hours sleep last night (due to waking from a nightmare I couldn’t shake off) and had a large coffee to try and keep myself awake. I am not normally particularly susceptible to caffeine to the extent that it gives me negative effects.

I’m also halfway through my second dose of 5 - seems like an odd point for side effects to kick in.

Anyone got any words of wisdom, please?

UnderandOverwhelmed · 26/02/2025 13:02

Also very lethargic here. The easiest exercise makes me exhausted and my legs tingle. I've been floored with tiredness and low mood since I started

BlueLimes · 26/02/2025 13:07

@myladyjane sorry you’re feeling down. We’ve lost the same amount I think in the same time, we just have to keep going. It’s so disappointing I know, but you’ve lost almost a stone which is amazing.
I’m going to to 7.5mg for next own. We will get there !!

HeavyHeidi · 26/02/2025 13:16

I started feeling a bit lightheaded but then realised I ate very little yesterday and nothing yet today, which would explain it.

Yeah BMI does not take into account body composition at all. When I was very slim size 8/10, my BMI is was still just mid of healthy range. I can't even imagine what I would look like with BMI at 19, which is still supposed to be healthy.
