Really not surprised in hearing about the low moods. The excitement of starting something new has dissipated - now we are on the long, hard slog. Keep at it though ladies 💪

I was going through my camera roll and saw the pics I sent in for my first subscription. I could see such a difference. It really made me pause. I didn't think of myself as the shape I was...

HeavyHeidi · 25/02/2025 11:47

weight blindness is a real thing. I was always shocked when I saw some unexpectedly taken photos or videos - who's that chunky lady? I look so much slimmer in the mirror..

I took some updated photos just for comparison since I've now lost a stone, and I can see a huge difference in mine! I only have another stone and half to lose to get to my goal, but it's surprised me how much that first stone has made a difference.

It's always taken me at least 2st to feel a change but that was when I was a bit bigger, so I guess you see it more when you have less to lose.

I'd recommend everyone taking progress photos as it really is useful!

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 25/02/2025 12:06

Do most people jab in their stomach? The worst side effects I had were after jabbing in my upper stomach, so I've not been back there and have done thighs since. It could absolutely be a coincidence though, I did have spicy food and I think that's crucial for me.

MJalltheway · 25/02/2025 12:07

Another egg on legs here @GrumpyMuleFan 👋
big round tummy but slim legs. I was grateful to get old enough that people stopped asking me if I was pregnant.
feeling absolutely awful today but not MJ related I don't think. Fluey, achy and shivery. Crap timing cos DH is away so having to find some way of getting kids to/from school.
I've so enjoyed changing the way I'm eating. I don't snack on anything other than fruit and nuts now and have only eaten proper home-cooked meals. Luckily I spent some time at the weekend batch cooking so I have lots of good stuff in the freezer to eat on days like this where I just can't cook anything and previously would have resorted to ready meals or takeaway.

Beanie567 · 25/02/2025 12:10

I actually spent some time googling ‘Mounjaro low mood’ because I have noticed the same thing but only over the last week or so. Good to see in a weird way that some others of you are feeling it too. I’m hoping it’s a blip and I’ll start to perk up a bit too.

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 25/02/2025 12:45

The fat pads under my arms have shrunk as well.

@Jins You just made me check mine. They're definitely much smaller and I hadn't even thought to look!

Jins · 25/02/2025 14:13

I’m reliably informed that those pesky pads of fat are called axillary tails of Spence. I’m not sure if that’s better or not

mince3point14159265 · 25/02/2025 15:44

I'd like to tell Spence where he can stuff his axiliary tails!

Here's to hoping we start seeing some signs of spring to lift everyone's mood. Im somewhere that's supposed to be hot & sunny and it's not! I demand a refund!!

Did anyone find that they were more thirsty when they went up to 5mg?

I've found the more the drug seems to be working for me, the thirstier I am!

stilllovingmysleep · 25/02/2025 18:12

@discoballv and @Boohoo76 I also feel very thirsty when suppression is at the highest

MananaMananaPenelope · 25/02/2025 18:20

Slightly better day today.

I’ve not updated after seeing my consultant, really sniffy and negative about MJ, it’s as if our prior conversation never happened. Warned me about serious side effects and putting weight back on afterwards. Nothing positive to say at all. Oh well.

Yes, my suppression has been very strong for the last couple of days. I jabbed on Sat afternoon and this evening is the first time that I actually feel like I need to eat - although I have continued to force myself to eat 1000 calories per day.

Saggyknickers · 25/02/2025 18:40

I'm not thirsty per se but I have a dry mouth and eyes and am drinking lots.
W6 D3 of 2nd 5mg jab for me and I'm struggling to reach 800 calories again this week - have only been able to stomach 2 x bowls of soup and an orange today. I've gone off everything, nothing appeals! Am going to try and eat a couple of bananas too. Still tired all the time too 😔. I did feel a bit better for seeing a bit of sunshine yesterday and today and it's always heartening to see the crocuses popping out and the buds on the trees.

Also, I thought of you guys earlier today as an advert for Pepto Bismol keeps on popping up on TV 😂 has anyone else seen it? I've never in my life seen an advert for pepto bismol! They're obviously anticipating huge sales with the advent of WLI's over here.

Jins · 25/02/2025 19:30

i emailed this afternoon to change my order of a 5mg pen to a 7.5mg one. I’m doing well on 5mg but I’ve still got 2 doses plus the bonus dose. It seemed to make sense to use my first order discount on a more expensive pen.

I set up reminders in the renpho app yesterday and weighing 3 times a day. It’s been really interesting. Usually I weigh first thing in the morning and assume I’ll gain weight as I eat and drink but I’m actually seeing a drop of up to a pound at midday. I’m not planning on continuing to weigh so frequently but it’s interesting to see the trends.

Glad you had a better day.

the consultant sounds annoying. We all know the risk of regain/ side effects. It’s a really lazy argument- after all we could stay on maintenance or have a short course if needed on the future (my plan anyway).

People really are more negative about the jabs…

MananaMananaPenelope · 25/02/2025 20:12

Thank you @BlueLimes . I was a bit taken a back tbh. Absolutely nothing positive to say, not a word. 😳This is the Dr who told me I needed less than 1500 calories at my age. Well, now I'm eating about 900-1100 most days and I've lost 11lb in a month. I think it is positive, if I develop major side effects I'll stop taking it.

Thelittlestranger · 25/02/2025 20:19

That sounds incredibly frustrating @MananaMananaPenelope - did you respond to his negativity?

Another one who is thirstier the more suppression I have...

@Saggyknickers have you considered reducing your clicks on the pen next time? Sounds like fatigue could be from lack of calories?

DGonMJ · 25/02/2025 20:33

@IBloodyLoveMyBlanket I jab in my stomach now after previously jabbing in thighs. I didn’t have much luck with thighs, bleeding, bent needle and leaking jabs. Don’t get that on my belly. I do bruise on the lower belly but less so the higher up I go. But haven’t really noticed a difference in symptoms.

@MananaMananaPenelope glad you’ve had a better day, but sorry the consultant wasn’t more positive about MJ…where’s the bedside manner nowadays?

@MJalltheway hope you feel better soon. Love that you have a load of tasty healthy batch cooked food in the freezer. At least you can nourish yourself with goodness.

@2025istheyeari well done on losing while on hols and resisting the cinnamon buns! I loved Iceland, went about ten years ago!

I’m thirsty again and suppression is high at the moment, so my second dose of 3.33mg seems to be doing its thing.

Someone mentioned their Renpho scales were measuring them as lighter than their other scales? Mine has me around 0.5kg heavier than the Juniper scales. Am obviously tracking Juniper for motivation! But I wondered if once I’ve cancelled my next order with them if the Juniper app might lose my data and I’ll be forced to ‘gain’ half a kilo as I revert back to Renpho.

On low moods - I’m a lot more ‘meh’ on MJ. It’s definitely affected some of my usual dopamine triggers, I’ve been watching less tv, less doomscrolling, even stopped working late as much as I used to (which I do think was connected to the dopamine hit of ‘achieving’). It means I am going to bed earlier, which means I can get up early and exercise. I’m also using this free time to get more chores done, which is kind of dull but useful. I don’t think I’ve swapped extreme joy for extreme unhappiness. But it has taken the edges off and I can go from anxious to chill easily. However…I am addicted to this thread and find myself refreshing it several times a day!

Zempy · 25/02/2025 20:37

@DGonMJ

I recently abandoned Juniper. The service was excellent to be fair, but I just couldn’t justify the price. Anyway, I have kept the app! It still links from the scales and shows my targets etc.

They told me I can keep it for now, but they can’t guarantee their policy might change in the future, which seems fair enough.

MananaMananaPenelope · 25/02/2025 20:38

@Thelittlestranger I was surprised. The conversation even included buying it from somewhere reputable and checking how it interacts with my other medication.

I said that I felt positive about it, I had lost weight which is really significant. I haven't gained any weight since stopping treatment for cancer, neither have I been able to lose the weight I gained through my treatment journey. My diet hasn't changed, it didn't before apart from when my medication made me really ill. I don't eat sweets, drink alcohol, fry food, have a snacking habit etc., etc., and my scales are stuck. What this drug is allowing me to do is to function on 500 less cals a day in a way I have struggled to do before.

As for side effects, I am actually prescribed/take eight pills a day post cancer, I am sure the side effect list on those is significant too. In fact I have to have kidney function blood tests every three months for one of them.

Never mind.

Thank you @DGonMJ .

Re thirst, I was mega thirsty all the time until I started to have a couple of electrolyte tablets a day.

I think you are right, I was on a real high at the beginning and “enjoying” even the symptoms as it = it was working. It’s become the norm now so perhaps that is also why people are feeling a bit low? Plus this very depressing weather, rain and mud and grey skies- totally ready for spring now please 🙏🏻. Let’s keep on going everyone, every loss, no matter how small is a win ❤️❤️❤️
