Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

@MinkaLeDinka Loads of people on the starter dose get very little suppression, my fried said she felt nothing until the 5mg and the weight has absolutely fallen off her since. She's been one of the reasons I had the confidence to start.

🎉 At least the scales are shifting! We see going the right way

Hope it starts to properly kick in for you soon 🤞

Hi all! Excited to be joining in.

Took my first dose tonight. I was nervous about doing it wrong but it was actually super easy.

I'm looking forward to this journey. Is that weird? I'm a serial yo-yo dieter. I've gained and lost 40kg/6.5st multiple times in the last 14 years. Food is my comfort when I am depressed. I snack when I'm bored or tired.
I can only maintain good habits and healthy eating when I am well and no amount of therapy, CBT or antidepressants has ever changed that. I hope mj will help me lose it and keep it off.

I'm 165cm. Starting weight: 115.8kg/18st 3.3lb. BMI: 42.5

I'm not going to focus on a goal weight at the moment, just going to aim for smaller portions of nutritious food and be happy with any loss at all right now.

Welcome to the gang
I've been offered cbt by my Dr I'm on the waiting list
Good luck with your journey x

Just been swimming again and I'm walking home as gonna spend a few hours in the car driving from Hertfordshire to Hampshire to see my sister.

First challenge being around people/away from home.

Tho I suspect she knows as I found out by accident our other sister is on mj and suspect she will have told this sister

I've seen quite a few of you here saying you've had diarrhoea .. and I said near the start of this thread I was ok if I had it as a side effect because I'm prone to bouts of it because of having my gallbladder removed last year .

BUT

Since taking the jabs I havnt been able to go properly . Is anyone struggling too ? I last went last Tuesday . Ive been taking fibre supplements , high fibre breakfast, eating quite a lot of greens, loads of water etc but nothing . It seems eating a lot less has slowed everything right down .

Acolite · 16/02/2025 09:22

My delivery is due today. Any tips before first injection tonight?

Can't comment on the mountain effect as I haven't started yet, but in regards to constipation are you drinking enough? Fibre works by drawing fluid into the gut, but if you have the fibre but not the fluids it won't work.

ExplodingCarrots · 16/02/2025 09:25

@Acolite yeah loads of water. I'm drinking more than I ever have .

Sorry, teaching you to suck eggs. Grin
I'd dislike that more than diarrhoea. What about a laxative to help things along?

Feb2025start · 16/02/2025 09:35

@ExplodingCarrots yes I've had this. Am also drinking loads of water (and electrolytes), lots of fruit and veg and fibre etc, and never had this issue before so it's definitely MJ related. I've started taking a couple of senna tablets before bed which gets things (ahem) 'moving' in the morning. Lactulose is also a miracle worker if senna doesn't quite cut it!

ExplodingCarrots · 16/02/2025 09:36

I agree , I'd take back my bouts of diarrhoea over this . I'm hoping this is just an initial side effect as I'm only 2 jabs in . I been doing calorie controlled diet of around 1700 calories for a couple of months and have been fine .
I took some fybrogel yesterday and going to do the same again this morning . Pray it works . It's making me feel sluggish now .

I'm praying this fybrogel kicks in today . If not will get some lactulose today . That was a saviour after my surgery Grin

MJSpideySenses · 16/02/2025 09:44

@ExplodingCarrots I experienced the same at the start of the week, it's so unpleasant. I've been careful to include enough water and fibre since. I eat a few prunes a day now and everything seems OK. Hope the fybrogel works it's magic for you.

Had bad diarrhoea several times in the night so have cancelled today's outing. Feeling a bit rough and my bum is sat in a corner, weeping.

Today is my fourth day of mounjaro. On a positive note tho i weighted myself and im 14 Stone 7 - 5lb loss so far tho im sure some of it is due to the diarrhoea

Oh poor you. I had that after my first jab and ended up not making it to the loo on time. I was in a work meeting. Thank God it was on Teams!

Luckily I didn't get anything like the same reaction for my second and subsequent jabs.

Hope you get better soon

mysparkleismissing · 16/02/2025 10:09

It took me 5 days to poo last week!
But I've not been in any pain or discomfort
I'm not eating as much so that will be taking an effect

I've not tried any remedies, yet

This is my current calorie count from nutracheck

How does Mounjaro work?
The active ingredient in Mounjaro, which is called tirzepatide, works by mimicking natural hormones in the body that control your appetite.
Tirzepatide is a GIP and GLP-1 agonist. It binds to the same receptors as these hormones and works by slowing down how fast your stomach empties, making you feel fuller for longer. It also decreases your appetite and cravings. Together, these effects can help you with your weight loss journey.

Choux · 16/02/2025 10:19

Mounjaro slows the movement of food through your digestive system.
That slow digestion that Mounjaro causes can lead to a backup in your colon. About 1 in 13 people on Mounjaro complain of constipation.
The standard rules of thumb for relieving constipation from any cause apply here, too.
Make sure you’re doing these things:
• Drinking plenty of fluids, mostly water. Aim for 91 to 125 ounces every day.
• Exercising every day
• Adding fiber to your diet with at least two servings a day of fruits, vegetables, or whole grains

That is so good to hear. I’ve got nowt here!
I have definitely eaten less, but that’s because my head is in ‘diet mode’. I actually don’t think that’s very helpful for me mentally. I would rather get to a place where I don’t spend all my time with either food noise, or diet noise.

Trying to be patient!

UsernameShmusername2024 · 16/02/2025 11:04

Hi everyone. I took my first dose on Thursday evening so only a few days in. So far I don't feel like there's been any change in my appetite- I know it's very early days but wondering when others have started to feel different?
I've been calorie counting using myfitnesspal and have stuck to a calorie deficit the last couple of days but been very hungry at times. I have a lot to lose (>10 stone) so have quite a high calorie allowance even for weight loss - the last couple of days I've had a lot of calories spare so maybe I should eat more (but the 'right' foods) while I want to and wait for the suppresson to start?!
Hope everyone is getting on OK with it!

Interested to know, of the beginning of February starters are you planning on doing another month on 2.5 or moving up to 5mg? Is there any reason why you are leaning one way or another.

Im going into my 3rd week, so will need to do my order soon. At the moment i am loosing with not much side effects on the 2.5, but worried if i re-order it come week 5-6-7 will wish i had moved up and it is a lot of money if i make a mistake..... chronic overthinker as well as overeater apparently :)

Hi, I’m in the same boat. I would never have said appetite was the reason why I struggled with my weight. Likely emotional eating or coming home and reaching for the easiest quickest meal. It’s allowing me to do the a low kcal shake easier and wonder whether I should just continue on 2.5mg as the side effects haven’t been too bad. I know 2.5mg is only a loading dose and wonder if 5mg is when the proper gastro side effects will kick in. I’ve been doing 2.5mg every 6 days and have injected my 3rd dose this morning so need to decide soon whether to increase dose or not.

Day 2
trying to drink lots of water
side effects bad headache, feel sick, feel anxious, feel sleepy but only got 3 hours sleep last night.
I have high hopes as few years back had to come off Saxender as side effects were too much. And I hoped Mounjaro would he different.
