some great recipes!

i’ve gotten into convenience habits. I buy a lot of premade and prepared items, not junk - like salads, vegetable bags, potatoes etc. Its only me, so its not like it matters really, but it has made it SO much easier to do the right thing. Its actually more work to eat beige stuff than it is to eat the couscous/sweet potato salad mix i will have with premarinated chicken (that i am having tonightttt!) so its helpful.

back into my walking pad this week - been putting it off for months. Its been so much easier three stone lighter!! Not even sweaty at my old time/speed. I also gave a youtube kettlebell class ago, i managed two mins 😫 but im going to keep trying and increase!!

SW: 106kg
CW: 86kg
GW: 65kg (I think I might have revised this since I last posted. I think I initially said 50something kg)
Currently on week 14 of MJ (taking my 4th 10mg dose this week and hoping to stay on 10mg until I reach my goal weight)

Hello everyone, I hope everyone's week on MJ is going well! I think I last messaged on the thread 3 version of this thread and just wanted to check in mostly to re-motivate myself with diet and exercise. About 6 weeks ago I really hurt my back (just from carrying DD's nappy changing bag on my back during a shopping trip) but it meant I stopped exercising completely to let it recover. Back has been ok for about a fortnight and I really need to try harder to get my steps in and exercise in.

My plan is to try and get 10k in with a mix of outdoor walking and walking pad and then resume some postpartum HIIT workouts.

My eating hasn't been brilliant. I have been disorganised and am eating at a massive deficit (maybe one meal a day of prepped veggies or ramen and protein yoghurt) and my main focus now is to up calories to about 1800 but with green veggies, lean protein and carbs that are good for me (eg. brown rice). I really struggle on the food front because I find it hard to make time with a toddler (She isn't at nursery yet and I'm with her full time)

@claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer I don't eat the hairy skins and they still work 🥝🥝

If you splash out on the fancier ones like Golden Kiwis they seem to be hairless - I'd eat the skins then. Once at the market I got some red kiwis but I've not seen them since. Also hairless.

Sometimes you can rub the hairs off. In a smoothie it might work to rub the hairs off.

But for regularity purposes they work really well without the skins. The skin is edible.

Kiwis are very high in Vit C & fibre.

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/01/2025 18:27

@Arglefraster I really need to remember that trick but I never do!

Is anyone up to week 3 of wegovey 0.25? If so could you post a pic of your pen, as I think I messed up the third dose and didn’t have enough 😣

Hello everyone. Started first 2.5 dose Friday morning. No side effects but no change really with hunger levels either. Something strange happened today though, only had about three forkfuls of lunch and felt full/didn't want to eat any more. Just like that, wasn't interested in eating my lunch. Am hoping the loss of hunger has kicked in (day 5) but who knows. Definitely not going to be one of those people who loses 10 pounds the first week!

I weighed myself randomly this morning:

SW. 20 st 3lbs
CW 19 st 9lbs

So it does seem to be working 😀

I've noticed I definitely have an MJ headache for the first couple of nights after injecting. Can't be dehydration because I've upped my water massively. It's not terrible, just noticeable and a bit annoying!

I also haven't got as much automatic suppression this week (week 3) - am having to work harder! Maybe it's psychological because I'm already starting to wonder how 5mg will be (my month 2 pen arrived yesterday!). But I'm OK - seeing it as a good thing as I'm trying to embed new habits.

Weird moment of the day yesterday.... Tesco had sent me a £10 off Whitley gin offer in the post and I PUT IT IN THE BIN!!!! 😬 Unthinkable 3 weeks ago - I'd have gone straight out and bought it. My desire to drink has completely gone..!

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 29/01/2025 07:32

End of week 1 and I am 6lbs down! Totally chuffed with that

SW: 18st 5
CW: 17st 13

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/01/2025 07:54

Nice work @claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer and @MooBaggage

Why do tesco never send me gin vouchers? 😂

I'm off the booze mostly but I do still love a negroni.

Gosh I really want to ask this from someone bigger who has been on MJ a while.
I mean I am -9lbs down first week with a starting weight of 136kg 🫣

I have taken some front on and side profile pictures to capture my 'outline' maybe monthly from now on to help me see progress even if scales don't show it. It is awful looking at my current profile (I avoid looking normally).

How can I word this.. My tummy is very big, it hangs down a bit over my pubic area. I also have a 'B shape' side profile on my tummy as have a crease at belly button level with lower and upper bulge. What I want to know is there anyone who has a similar shape rather than a more uniform rounded D shape tummy or just lower tummy b shape. I wonder if both my areas of fat will droop as I loose weight. Seriously worried about a saggy apron of fat and skin. 🙁

Yes I have 2 x tummies in that delightful shape too - the fat definitely causes it but the c-section didn't help! I'm an MJ newbie but went to Decathlon in week 1 and bought 2 x handweights and am doing weight exercises focussing on upper body and in particular my stomach(s!) every day - just a few mins at the moment, but I'm hoping doing the exercises from the start will at least help tone things as I lose weight.

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/01/2025 08:58

@Reginaphalangeeeee yea I have a B-belly, when pregnant I had a B-bump.

I'm 20kg down from a starting weight of 99kg this round but have been as high as 123kg in the past decade or so.

Honestly yes my stomach is looking like a wrinkly deflated balloon, it's still better than it was though and I expect it to continue to slowly improve over time. The fact is that I've stretched and stretched and stretched that skin over the span of my 41 years. It will look better in clothes and I'm used to looking bad out of clothes so that will be nothing new, just a different type of bad.

Darlinghag · 29/01/2025 09:15

Well done gang!

yes @Reginaphalangeeeee im a b belly and apron belly, and I know im not alone on this thread.

i’ve lost a few dress sizes and almost 5 and a half stone and i still have one (but still have that to go again!)

I will say, that over the last few weeks I am noticing it shrink, quite a lot. By this, i mean the ‘b’ is less obvious, and the apron has lifted up.I think i will always be predisposed to ‘going’ that way if i gain a little after reaching goal, but i am feeling more confident that it wont be horrendous.

i should add, i haven’t been pregnant so i assume that it makes a difference for some who have. my stomach skin also seems to be shrinking well so far too. (My thighs are another story tho!!)

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/01/2025 09:34

Thank you all so much for replying.
Glad others understand the apron and B belly worries with big weight loss.

My husband asked why I was meticulously rubbing my tummy at night, He thought maybe this was because I was hungry, but in actual fact, I am desperately rubbing moisturiser to my tummy. I have already lost 5 cm around my waist in one week which I think is mostly bloat, but my stomach fat does feel more 'squashy' than solid🤷‍♀️

I have had two pregnancies, but my youngest daughter was born nine years ago and I weigh two stone more than I was at the end of my pregnancy . My poor B belly has been stretched a lot, it's covered in stretch marks and I never imagine showing anybody it. I am most worried that a flap or apron will be too difficult to hide with clothing, like I will have to tuck it into my trousers.

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/01/2025 10:02

Here you go @Reginaphalangeeeee it ain't pretty but it shows the difference on me (5ft 8) of 20kg loss

I have a B belly and a small overhang.
2 babies but I didn't get stretch marks. I did moisturise a lot but I think much is down to luck/genetics. I have always supplemented with flaxseed or fish oils and I think that is wonderful for skin - better than anything you can apply topically.

I am noticing my skin is a bit loose & wrinkly everywhere after 25kg loss. I'm 57 so probably I don't have much "bounce back" anymore.
The daily yoga is really helping with toneing muscle and strength etc so while my belly is shrinking dramatically it's not looking too bad - yet! Ive lost 25kg with 25 more to "healthy BMI" so things are going to get saggier.

Just for me its my arms that I am most worried about. Dreadful saggy wrinkly puckered skin on my arms especially in certain yoga poses 😁😐

regular exercise, and supplements/moisturising is all we have. I have read that even after big weight loss the skin will firm up a bit on its own, so time, exercise and flaxseed oils for me. Many on WLI are taking collagan too (I keep forgetting).

WafflingDreamer · 29/01/2025 10:23

I've lost 37lbs since 7th October I had a starting weight of 21st 9lb. My B belly has definitely shrunk, I've taken photos every stone in the same clothes and you can see the difference.

I have no idea how true it is but I was told aiming for a 2lb loss a week gives your skin chance to keep up with your losses. I'm also taking Marine collagen which is supposed to help with skin elasticity. I think age can play a big part in how well your skin recovers from weight loss as do genetics. I'm trying to do Joe Wicks 28 day challenge to tone up a bit. I'm quite accepting of the fact that I am likely to have saggy skin as I need to lose a total of 10st to have a BMI of 24. I'm hoping shapewear will help if I need it to.

Darlinghag · 29/01/2025 10:40

I think slow, steady weightloss is deffo a factor in keeping things as firm as possible!

On the squishy fat thing, my fat is significantly squishier, but its not skin, its the fact itself. Googling tells me mixed results on if its a ‘thing’, but there’s a theory that when you are in active weightloss for a bit, your fat loosens up. This feels true for me. It started in my stomach (both of them!) and I am seeing it in my calves lately. Everything is just more maleable.

I just try to keep my protein up, stay hydrated (two Stanley cups a day minimum, plus coffee/diet coke) and take powder collagen.

I’m also in the early stages of starting some more muscle building fitness to see how that improves things.

Its a bridge to cross when we get to it, and i do think a bit of loose skin will feel better to me than 11 stone of excess weight!

peonym · 29/01/2025 10:43

Hi everyone!

Thanks @VelociraptorsVelociRapping for the new thread. Can't believe we're onto thread 5.

I've had my best week of loss yet thanks to a well timed cycle (period just finished) and a tummy bug. 4lbs off taking me down to 14,6. Deeeeelighted.

Welcome to all the new joiners! And so great to see everyone's progress. I'm on 10mg still but did order a 12.5mg as I thought I had stalled somewhat on the 10mg. Don't particularly want to take 12.5 unless I have to so we shall see.

My fitness pal tells me I've lost 50lbs since the start of my journey (not the start of MJ). Halfway to goal 💪🏻

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/01/2025 10:55

I have a kind of hot cross bun belly (like the B belly with a line up and down fro. previous surgery / scars) Yes it does all seem to go all soft and saggy doesn't it.

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/01/2025 10:56

When we lose fat we don't lose fat cells - but the amount of fat in each cell reduces, and each fat cell shrinks. So it makes sense that things get looser & softer as each fat cell becomes less turgid.

Its also why we can gain weight so quickly - the fat can just be packed into existing cells before the body even needs to think about making new fat cells.

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/01/2025 10:58

I read somewhere that when that happens the fat cells fill up with water, and then we can get a 'whoosh' of weight loss when they empty (but don't know how true this is)
