Orangesandlemons.

A grain of truth in what I was told. I have something autoimmune going on (what it is, no-one knows yet but theres a significant CFS/ME type element to it). If I'm going to be unwell it's like my body goes from 0-100 and very quickly and in usually the most random and bizarre manner.
However, if I can get to a more reasonable BMI then there's one less thing on the list of things for me to have to worry about.

Definitely

Reginaphalangeeeee · 27/01/2025 22:24

@alltablenochairs did this energy dip come just with increased prescription? I am hoping it settles.
If not I may need changed jab day do I can function for work

alltablenochairs · 27/01/2025 22:27

Yes but it's also worth mentioning I have CFS/ME and pretty much anything can and does affect me. It's also winter (and really cold!) where I am which always slows me down more anyway.

I'm sure there are others on this thread who haven't had any issues with MJ causing fatigue though so please don't use me and my sample size of 1 as gospel.

Week 3 day 2 and the only negative side effect I'm noticing so far is insomnia on the first couple of nights after injecting - very annoying!

Does anyone have any tips on how to sleep..? I'm tired, but can't seem to sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time...

AlisonWonderbra · 28/01/2025 05:02

Hi, can I join?

I have A LOT to lose. I just ordered monjouro. I'm hoping if works because affording it is a push. My weight if affecting my health though, so I feel like I have no choice.

Yep, only week 2 but struggling to stay asleep, easily disturbed.
Happened last week I put down to nerves, this week the storm but it's making me very tired and lethargic.

No tips except I have tried to go to bed earlier and get very warm before bed as cold 🥶 also seems to be disturbing me.

Thanks 😊 I already sleep with my electric blanket on low all night (I know...!). I'm going to try having half a toasted bagel before I go to bed - was googling last night and it seems that insomnia isn't an official side effect of Mounjaro, but changes in eating patterns might be causing it - I'm possibly just waking up because I'm a bit hungry?! I've cut down massively on meal portions - using a side plate and at the moment I'm tending to have protein and veg - very little carbs, so maybe I'm overdoing it and need something more in my stomach! Will try half a toasted bagel tonight, with a milky decaff coffee 😬

meatyryvita · 28/01/2025 07:57

Bloods received, lab report issued and now I'm even more impatient! How long generally between lab report being issued and prescription being issued? Lab report came in just after 6am yesterday (I said I was impatient!).

Snozzlemaid · 28/01/2025 08:23

@meatyryvita If you've had blood tests, have you ordered with Shemed?

If so, you may get better answers on one of the Shemed threads. They will be able to help you I'm sure.

meatyryvita · 28/01/2025 08:30

Shemed indeed - thanks so much. I'll give that a try.

I hope you don’t mind me popping in to join you. On 27th December, I decided to start MJ. I weighed 20 stone exactly. I’m 5’4.5”, so my BMI was 46.7. I took my first shot on New Year’s Eve, having lost 4lb in between. I’ve not had much in the way of side-effects, just one bout of diarrhoea in the first week, post curry. I’ve had a bit of constipation but now eat 30g of dried prunes every day, and that seems to be working nicely. Today is W5D1 and I have lost 10lb more, bringing my total to 14lb in a month. I’m delighted, as for the last three years, post menopause, I’ve really struggled to lose any weight at all. My next goal is to lose the next stone. Moving up to 5mg today, as on Days 5-7 for the last two weeks I’ve been quite hungry and had to be very thoughtful. Onwards and downwards!

underthunderalwaysawake · 28/01/2025 09:13

Hello everyone, don't post often but just wanted to pop in to hopefully give some encouragement for new starters who have lots to lose like I did.

I started in June at BMI 40 (morbidly obese) 17st 11lbs.

Today I'm officially only fat! Ha!!

My BMI is 29.5, I've lost 5 stone 2lbs.

I've still got another 2 stone to go, but I'm thrilled to reach this milestone.

All the best everyone.

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/01/2025 12:00

I popped into the doctors today to use their scales.

25kg down so I have lost half an Olympic womens boxing champion. I'm halfway to goal.

Started end of July 24 - so incredibly I have been taking MJ for 6 months now.

SW 124kg
Starting BMI 41
CW 99kg
Current BMI 33.1
GW 73kg
Goal BMI 24

Side effects - I get cold, and if I don't take 🥝🥝 I get a bit constipated.

Amazing! And I have ordered a bag of kiwis in my shop for the first time ever, following this thread..! 😀 I don't actually like them, but am going to try putting them in my smoothie - hopefully won't notice a thing (except more 💩😆)

Darlinghag · 28/01/2025 12:53

Well done @RobinEllacotStrike fab stuff!

I’ve never had to take the kiwi advice! I have no gallbladder and before MJ it used to give me horrific, life changing digestive issues, and now MJ has made me a lot more normal! I used to take lopermide before eating or drinking more than water anywhere outside of home, and even then it might not work, but now I only take one very ocassionally, and usually closer to the end of the week when MJ is wearing down.

Cottage cheese chat - Langley farm was bo available so used M&S one - quite nice!

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/01/2025 13:28

gosh that is an amazing "side effect" @Darlinghag - MJ is having even more benefits for you.

There is a lot of talk about other conditions GLP1's might be used to treat and it sounds like you are onto one there!

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/01/2025 13:30

congratulations on your happy fatness @underthunderalwaysawake 😁
great result!!

idrinkandiknowthings · 28/01/2025 13:31

Just wanted to say thanks to all who responded to my post with your encouraging words. I'm definitely going to seriously consider ordering it once I get past some potentially troubling MRI results received yesterday!

For sure! It’s why I am determined that I will need a maintenance dose!

I don’t expect to get there before 2026, so I am hoping there will be far more options by that time. I can see there being different maintenance dose levels, different jab schedules etc for folks. I feel a very low dose twice a week might work for me, but of course, plenty of time to figure that out! Plus I hear about a pill format, and retrutride (or something??) in the works.

Its such a life changer!!!

Yes me too - I similarly had/have IBS-D which had a massive impact on my life and not being able to go out with considerable planning... But within the first week that had completely disappeared, to the extent that I'm kind of worrying when I'm only going to the loo every 1 - 2 days - which is probably normal, but I have no idea!

The fact that my plantar fasciitis is also gone is an absolute miracle and for those two things alone I want to stay on some kind of dose forever...!

apologies if this is behind a paywall (I'm not sure how to do the archive links) but the Telegraph food section has just published a bunch of weight loss quick and easy meals & they look really great. I could eat every meal happily.

I'm not really bothered about food/cooking (first time in my life) but I do still need to make sure I am organised with what I am going to eat & I like eating healthy tasty meals. I might just eat my way through the list. Its nice to have some new inspiration for quick, easy, tasty dinners.

There are a bunch of soups included, and even a kiwi salsa! 🥝🥝

Question re the 🥝 🥝 - I heard you’re supposed to eat them with the skin on for constipation, does it work without? I love kiwis but can’t deal with the hairy skin!

W1D6 for me and getting a lot more hungry again. I’m still not really drawn to snacks though which is lovely and so freeing- I walked past the vending machine at work when I was a bit peckish earlier and didn’t even register it, only noticed later! I’ve never just been able to wait for meals without an internal battle about whether I can nip and grab a packet of rolos before

@RobinEllacotStrike congrats on being overweight!!

Arglefraster · 28/01/2025 17:50

Fab news @underthunderalwaysawake & @RobinEllacotStrike 🎉🎉🎉

Anyone else feel like the thread should be sponsored by kiwis 🤣
