Sunny day here and some gardening planned for later.

Great work @Darlinghag, excellent NSVs especially, you are very good at spotting and celebrating them. I think it's so important to notice your progress, it's a long journey and could feel so much longer with a negative or impatient mindset.

Weigh day for me too and a big psychological boost - having started at 17st something I am now 12st something.

SW: 241.2lbs / 109.4kg / 35.6 BMI
CW: 180.9lbs / 82.1kg / 26.7 BMI
GW: 154-160lbs?
I am tall with a big frame so don't imagine I would look particularly well under 11st but who knows. I have never been under 12 as an adult.

I have lost 1.6lbs this week and a total of 60.3lbs / 4st 4 / 27.3kg in 33 weeks. So not super fast but pretty steady. Had a little slow down in January which was very frustrating, but have speeded up again now, funnily enough on a lower dose as 15/12.5 didn't agree with me. I think moving more frequently has made the difference. I learned the other day that moving soon after eating means that your muscles hoover up the sugars in your blood without any need for insulin, so have been doing a little walk or some squats after meals for the last few weeks and feel good on it.

Wishing everyone happy weekends 💪

fourquenelles · 01/03/2025 11:54

Blinking heck Mountarinos these thread move fast!

After 2 weeks of no weight loss I managed 4 lbs this week and am now wondering whether going up to 7.5mg was the right choice (1st jab today).

Weight Jan 2024 18 stone 6 lbs 117 kgs BMI 44.3
Starting Mounjaro Oct 2024 17stone 10 lbs 112.5 kgs BMI 42.6
Now 15 stone 1 lb 95.7 kgs BMI 36.2

NSVs = size 26 jeans down to size 20
can get up off the floor without needing a crane
TMI but don't need gadget to wipe bum anymore
Can reach to cut my own toe nails
Walking into town rather than bussing and enjoying it
Having small portions of treats so nothing forbidden
Stopping when had enough not feeling need to clear plate

I have booked a trip to Canada in September for a significant birthday so hoping to be at the low end of overweight by then and looking forward to a whole new wardrobe once I find my style!

flipflop76 · 01/03/2025 12:06

Hi everyone! I started on weds 26/2 so I'm 4 days in. Had some initial suppression and nausea but feel fairly normal now and just ate 2 packets of crisps in quick succession! Feeling very hungry! Will see how i get on as jab 2 is still a good few days away!

flipflop76 · 01/03/2025 12:08

Meant to say, I have 6 stone to lose. Currently 17 stone, bmi 37.5.

SilenceInside · 01/03/2025 13:25

Another weigh in day for me, a day late as I have a bit of cold and was feeling sorry for myself yesterday. Took the day off work and slept all morning, so missed doing my injection and decided to do it today instead.

Current stats at the end of week 34:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 92.9kg (14st 8 lbs), was 94.2kg (14st 11lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.
Total of 102 pounds down, or 46.1kg.
Current pen: 7.5mg, 24 weeks on this dosage

Just ordered another 7.5mg pen as I have continued to lose each week, even if it's been a little slow. Getting tantalisingly close to my next interim target of 90kg, maybe another 2 or 3 weeks to get there, fingers crossed!

@flipflop76 hello and welcome 👋

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/03/2025 14:15

Hello!
I love popping into this thread as it is SO encouraging to hear those that are further ahead than me and see the difference that significant weight loss can make. I love hearing the NSV as well as seeing the numbers go down and can so relate to the excitement as I will be excited when I reach some of those targets too!!!

I am wk8 day 2. Didn't lose this last week and was a bit grumpy about that. I think I've lost just over a stone all together.

I have completely prepared myself it might be several months before anything is visible just where my starting point is so high - BUT I put on a dress today (live in seasalt baggy dresses) and realised that one that had been stretched over my stomach/chest and I'd been avoiding wearing is actually now lose (well - I'd say it now fits!). I am so over the moon. I've shown my kids and my husband who must think I'm nutty as it isn't obvious to look at me but that looks so different!!

I do know too that I am eating so much better and so much less that hopefully the losses will restart again and this was just a week or two blip .

WeAllHaveWings · 01/03/2025 15:15

Saturday weigh in and decent 2lb loss this week. 😁

End of week - 36 (5 x 2.5mg, 31 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 15st 06lbs BMI 32.4
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2
Total loss - 5st 13lbs (83lbs), 27.8%
Next Target 🎯- 14st 3lb by end June (BMI < 30, 100lbs lost, Onederland!)

And even better news restarted HRT yesterday! 🥳 Apologies for the language but, thank fuck as hot flashes have meant very poor sleep all week! I phoned NHS referrals management on Monday and was told the urgent referral 2-3 week waiting list was up at 6-8 weeks! 😱 Looked at my employers health insurance and got into the Rosshall One Stop Breast Clinic on Friday - all the tests/scans/mammograms done, results back and given the all clear to restart HRT in the space of 2 hours! Out in time to do lunch and have a play in the park with my niece and great niece! Fair cheered me up after 11 days of catastrophising!

@gimmemounjaro My losses have slowed in January too. My average loss has dropped from around 2.3lbs/week before Christmas to 1.6lbs/week after, but I am feeling comfortable with that. Feel I am eating better at the moment too. Need to get back into walking more - my walking buddy has not been available much since Christmas (long haul holiday in January and issues with her mums health since she returned) and with the dark nights still here not comfortable going out myself so I'm not moving as much as I should.

Great NSVs @fourquenelles TMI or not, the impacts of severe obesity are so wide ranging and disabling, I wasn't far of needing a gadget but was managing with a stretch and holding my breath! My biggest issue was I was a liability getting downstairs in the mornings as my ankles were not coping - some mornings I had to do both feet on each step one by one. They are better now, but still far from perfect - some of it I think is also menopause. My NSV yesterday was I had a go on the swings without the chains digging into me painfully - still touching them but only just!

@Darlinghag Mounjaro works the same for me and cycling calories is great, gives you the best of both worlds, supports me when it has me in calorie deficit and gives me some respite at other times to enjoy food, but without the obsessive side to it.

Hope your cold shifts soon @SilenceInside

You are all doing so great and you are all inspirational - whether that is because you are losing and hitting targets and NSVs, have just recently taken the first steps on this journey, or because you are still here and still fighting the battle against obesity along with all the other challenges life throws at you daily💗.

Keep going you mounificent bunch of mounistas 💃🏻

gimmemounjaro · 01/03/2025 17:23

I've been sorting out one of DH's birthday presents today, which involved making both lemon curd and meringue. Well, I had to taste obviously.. I haven't had that kind of sugar hit in so long, and it was like flipping a switch, I just wanted more and more, and all these foods that I haven't really thought about for months were suddenly popping into my head. Really bizarre! DH chose that moment to come home from the supermarket with a bar of chocolate that he'd bought for himself, I helped him out with that. Luckily we didn't have much else in the cupboards, because I would have made short work of any crisps or biscuits, the drive to eat crap was just insane.

Anyway, it did pass quite quickly and was an interesting if slightly unnerving learning moment. Feel a bit headachy now but otherwise unscathed and back on track.

MamaNewtNewt · 02/03/2025 09:21

I finally took my first jab last night! I was wondering what supplements, if any, you are all taking. I'm especially interested in anything that can help with loose skin, but I also want to think about whether the multi vitamin plus vit D is enough.

gimmemounjaro · 02/03/2025 10:38

Well done @MamaNewtNewt 💪

I take collagen every day in my morning coffee plus omega 3 fish oil and a multivitamin when I remember. I bought some creatine after reading rave reviews but haven't got around to incorporating that in my routine yet.

MamaNewtNewt · 02/03/2025 10:53

Thanks @gimmemounjaro I take a look at those!

I feel a little bit queasy this morning and am definitely a bit gassy. I didn't really feel hungry but I had that shaky feeling you get when you are really hungry. I had my breakfast (Greek yoghurt, honey, walnuts and grapes) and couldn't manage all of it, not sure if it's the queasiness or the placebo effect as I'm guessing 12 hrs on 2.5mg isn't enough to have an effect?

Arglefraster · 02/03/2025 11:01

Oh gosh @gimmemounjaro also preparing for a family birthday here & made two lots of macarons yesterday, plus cookies and biscuits - the sugar gave me a headache so quickly & I spent much time roaming the kitchen for food. I mostly redirected to protein but so frustrated by the power sugar has.

Off to make some soup now (cake to make later though 🫠)

Hi @MamaNewtNewt (I love your name & newts!) I take a few supplements but mostly they predate MJ (collagen because it helps my stupidly dry skin & biotin & iron for hair because I have alopecia, several for sleep, vit D because Scotland 😁).

Arglefraster · 02/03/2025 11:05

Clearly I type slowly! @MamaNewtNewt sorry you're not feeling good. I've never not been able to finish anything yet - I still seem to have infinite food capacity..... But you might like to have a look at glp1plotter.com to see what dose you have in your system

SilenceInside · 02/03/2025 11:11

@MamaNewtNewt I had suppression and was unable to eat my usual portions from the afternoon of the first day. Some people do respond quickly to it. I think I am fairly responsive as I have never gone above 7.5mg, and I've been on that for 20 odd weeks now.

gimmemounjaro · 02/03/2025 11:12

Bizarre isn't it @Arglefraster.

Not at all "oh isn't it moreish" but more like "I have actually been possessed and no longer control my own behaviour". Like a drug!

Good luck with the cake - I really don't mind the idea of having the odd sugary treat but that was not a pleasant experience at all. At least it didn't last and I'm not still fighting it this morning. I expect that's thanks to the MJ - in my previous dieting life I would have been derailed for days, weeks or even months.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/03/2025 11:16

@MamaNewtNewt re: supplements, I take:

-a probiotic to help with digestive side effects
-an iron and B vitamin complex for energy and hair loss
-vitamin D (pretty much everyone needs to supplement in the UK, especially in winter)
-hyaluronic acid purely for facial vanity!
-high dose vitamin C and zinc for immune support and hair loss again

Yes that's a good description! Trying/checking the dough repeatedly even though I didn't like it the first time - whhhyyyyy! I also can't chuck beaters into the wash without getting all the mixture off - but I eat it rather than add to the bowl as it's only removable with fingers. So many stupid ingrained patterns.

In the past I've tried to eat vegetables & had some vinegar before starting to bake to try to reduce the sugar impact. I need to start again, I like using BJ Fogg's habit recipe for things like that. I need to set one up for the beaters I think - straight into the washing up water!

Weirdly I find all these baked things incredibly easy to resist once baked. I do love the cake I'm making later but it's a really dark chocolate flourless cake so a small bit with Greek yogurt probably isn't the end of the world.

Have started experiencing my first digestive side effects over here and I’m not loving it! Two nights I’ve had really intense cramps and a very urgent trip to the loo. Suppression has also been really high and I’m struggling to balance what I can face eating vs calories vs nutrition (e.g I can manage an apple and it’s good for me, but if it’s all I can manage for lunch it’s probably not enough calories). What is everyone else having on those days?

I have just hit the point where I'm struggling to eat - actimel and protein shakes made with water seem to go down ok

alltablenochairs · 02/03/2025 21:35

Another 0.7kg loss this week. 22kg so far which is more than I could have possibly imagined would happen. Still got a very long way to go though but fitting into that blasted dress for the family wedding will be a good start.
I seem to be slowing down a bit now but as I have been on 10mg for a while I'm not entirely surprised. I've got 2 doses in my current pen and another one in the fridge so will see what happens after that.

Busy weekend here, my youngest and I have been doing an accessible outdoor adventure course. Yes, it's perfectly possible to do stuff like abseiling, climbing and zip lining if you can't walk. However you will find that muscles you didn't even know about will hurt more than is ever imaginable.

I seem to be having v high suppression days on days 2 - 4 after injecting - am on 5mg and have got another 5mg pen as I can't see myself going up to 7.5mg any time soon!

On the highest suppression days I have a fruit smoothie in the morning - smaller than usual and takes me ages to finish, but still has lots of fruit, dates, faxseed and greek yoghurt in. If I really can't eat, I'll make up a chocolate protein drink - with protein powder, cocoa powder and milk and have that in the afternoon. I try to talk myself into one actual meal - at any point in the day - that's usually spinach and I've got gluten free chicken nugget things in the freezer that I can air fry, so I don't have to actually cook and they're really little, so I can choose to do just one or two.

Definitely not anywhere near the calories I can have, but at least I've got protein and fibre in me on those days!

Then on the lower suppression days I try to eat more actual food 😊

I have started taking protein shakes when I don't feel like eating. I'm in my 8th month of MJ and I've only recently started with the shakes. I've always been more of a "real food" person, but I have always struggled to come close to hitting any protein targets. This becomes a bit of a concern on low suppression days - and the shakes are OK. They mostly work because I have low interest in food, they are quick to make and very convenient. they don't taste the best I guess, but as I'm no longer centering food taste in my life this is absolutely fine with me.

I only had that rush to the loo once, and it was shocking. It happened the day after I had been on a work conference day and had sandwiches for lunch - the first refined carbs I had eaten in several months. So of course I hold the processed carbs completely responsible. I don't know if it was related to the carbs but it felt like it was.

Grapes and apples (sliced if you need to) can be easy to eat when you don't fancy anything. Grapes are high in fructose but seem to be OK & dont trigger any cravings for me. The last week I have been enjoying Waldorf salad (less mayo more Greek yoghurt for the dressing) - which is crunchy, creamy and lots of walnuts, so very satisfying to eat. Just as the protein shakes have their place on low suppression days, some days I just need the crunch of food you really need to chew.

Another easy snack I love is hummous and sugar snaps - we've started getting into the Ramona hummous in big tubs that seems to be widely available now - we love the jalapeno one.

hellohellooo · 03/03/2025 10:31

Well done all

2lbs off here

That's over 4 stone now
Just delighted

Horrific weekend
Badly damaged my car and shouted at the kids last night was so stressed

All I wanted to do was binge eat but somehow drank lots of water and took a brisk walk to cool off

Said a big sorry to the kids and now staying more positive
Well trying to 😅😅

this is so good to read @alltablenochairs - very encouraging for me! And bloody well done you.

I am doing a bit zipline canopy tour in NZ in April - its all booked and paid for. I love the idea of it - we wanted to do this back in 2019 but my youngest wasn't keen and my oldest was too young to go on her own. A few years on we are all doing it.

I feel I will be physically able to do it now, I'm well below the weigh limit & feeling fairly strong - its just the heights that worry me, or more accurately my reaction to the heights.

But I am bloody determined I will do it even if I do the whole thing screaming with my eyes closed.
