@InfoSecInTheCity Thanks for the reply - I've just been talking it through with some mates at work who know and i think it is period related.

Oddly we were also talking about chocolate and I've been treating myself to a square of 75% dark chocolate at night as anything too sweet makes me feel sick to even think about it. That includes sweet fruit 😳

I have been making sure I get over 70gms of protein a day and over 30gms of fibre as I'm constipated (seems to be my only side effect).

I'll see how I go over the weekend

AnneinEdinburgh · 27/02/2025 13:10

I am on my 2nd week of 10mg. The first wasn't too bad for side effects, but since jabbing the 2nd on Monday I start feeling very rough about 5pm. I am in discomfort, not agony, in my stomach/just below my breastbone, sulphurous burps, nausea and the runs. I don't sleep most of the night. Eating/not eating doesn't seem to make a difference. By the morning I am feeling tired and washed out but fairly ok, then to repeat in the evening. Its done this for the last 2 days, day 2 and 3. Any suggestions very welcome! I have emailed supplier to ask if I should be going back down to 7.5mg.

I moved to 7.5mg 4 jabs ago and this is me! I've bought a 5mg pen now, it's too sore for 3 days a week (and I stink of sulphur!). Back on 5 for next jab.

Assuming the pain is trapped wind at both ends!
Sorry TMI for anyone else on this thread 😀

Thanks all. I think I'm going to go for it tomorrow morning. Mostly because I just want to get started!

Well done everybody. We are all doing so well! I wonder if there's a collective noun for us? If not there should be!

I have had a weekend of gin, chocolate and birthday cake so no surprise to be up half a kilo today but, luckily (and sneakily) I also weighed on Friday so I'm not too despondent and am back on it today. We are away for the weekend next one though and catering not in my control so I'm not expecting any plummets in weight soon.

I resolved when I retired last year that I was going to accept invitations, make the most of time with friends and family and never allow my weight to hold me back. I have now adjusted that resolution to never allow my weight loss to hold me back either so it may be slower than some others but I'm enjoying the journey Smile

A collective name? How about

Mounstars ✨
Mounjarriors 💪
Mounistas 💃🏻

Or we can just say we are all Mounificent. 🎉

I'm so confused, I'm eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day, exercising 3 to 4 times a week for an hr each time but I haven't lost any weight in over a week. In fact, I have put on a pound. It's been bouncing between 1lb to 3lbs up for 10 days now. I don't understand what's going on!!

MamaNewtNewt · 28/02/2025 09:05

Well that was a bit of an anticlimax. Went to take my first dose and the alcohol wipes weren't included. DH is picking some up for me at lunchtime so I might just wait until this evening or tomorrow morning.

SW: 18st 7.6lbs - BMI: 43.3
GW: 10st 7.0lbs - BMI: 24.5

So a nice round (pun not intended) 8 stone to lose.

You've been through this before @alwaysscared and the advice is always the same.

Loss is not linear, some weeks you will lose, some you will stay the same, some you will gain. You cannot focus on a period of just a few days.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, taking rest days to give your muscles a chance to heal because sore muscle retain water for healing, and stick to a calorie deficit.

Look at the big picture not the small window of a week.

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 28/02/2025 09:34

@MamaNewtNewt
It will work :) was also 18st 7lb, now 14st 4 in just about 5 months. Slight slowing currently but still going down. On 7.5 still amd debating whether to go to 10 next time.

It's so demoralising isn't it? But you know it will be just water retention/your body getting used to things etc. Does your body feel different? This is what I told myself when I was stuck for 2 weeks on the same weight, despite doing everything you're doing - and yes, it feels really different now.

This is a completely different kettle of fish to us going on a stupid WW/SW diets, losing hope, eating sneakily, craving sugary things, praying the scales will magically move anyway etc. etc. etc. This is a long term medical intervention - as long as we do our bit, it will do its bit and we will lose weight.

I tell myself this at least 20 times a day 😀

I did a random weigh today (still battling my scales fear, but am getting used to it) and have lost 2lbs, taking me to the nice round number of 20lbs lost to date.

Tantilisingly, my BMI is exactly 40.0, so am hoping that my next weigh in will see my BMI in the 30s - yay...!!

MamaNewtNewt · 28/02/2025 10:17

Thanks @Iwanttoputmytreeup it really helps to hear the success stories. You are doing so well.

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 28/02/2025 10:41

I'm 2lbs up this week, but I'm not worried. I've got my period and I'm a little constipated. I was worried that I should have ordered a 7.5mg pen but got a 5mg instead. Jabbed last night and suppression seems to be back today which is nice

I'm tracking my weight loss/symptoms etc, and it seems to be on a 4 weekly cycle. I'll have a couple of weeks where I loose 4lbs a week, then have a stall for 2 weeks. It seems to be going in the right direction and this must be how my body is dealing with loosing the weight.

I know I'm eating right and in deficit so I'm going with it.

Sharing my graph (picture may take a few mins to show while it goes through approval) to demonstrate the ups and downs of daily weighing over 194 days.

alwaysscared · 28/02/2025 11:02

Thanks guys, needed to hear that it's normal etc.
I can only stay on 5mg as it's prescribed for diabetes and I feel it's not very effective anymore hunger wise, but I am getting through on a calorie deficit so hopefully that's good practice for the future without MJ. Although my doc thinks I will be on it, on some sort of dose, for a long time as it's basically reversed my diabetes.
I'm 4 stone, 1.3lbs down in 6 months, so I can't complain. Just so close to onederland (201.3lbs) and it just seems to be taking an age to get there!

🚗🚗🚗
Thread drive by for the graph 😍

I'm exhausted today (no sleep & day after jag combo) & find myself at a loose end when I can't eat my way out of it. Helpful reminder of how years of insomnia & sleep allergic children got me here!

MamaNewtNewt · 28/02/2025 12:06

As an excel geek I'm also loving the graph. I think I'll probably set up something similar for tracking as I love me some data!

CrazyKats · 28/02/2025 12:54

Curate have a maintenance program! Titrating down or remaining on the same dose indefinitely. This is who I have been ordering with so will do a bit more research...

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/02/2025 12:56

Love the graph.

Thankyou @MooBaggage and @InfoSecInTheCity for the pep talks., I'm only on 8tj jab and have stalled last 2 weeks in spite of a much reduced calorie intake (due to suppression) so thought it was all, working as it should - I don't particularly want to eat less or think I need a higher dose as I'm already not eating anywhere near what I was. I was just hoping to see it come off!! It has to eventually right...

I want a lovely list of loses like @WafflingDreamer !! I, feel I'm doing all the right things. And I have so far to go. But hopefully in a few weeks it will even out.

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/02/2025 13:15

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden how is your liquid intake? Are you going to the loo everyday?

I know weightloss slow downs for me absolutely are linked to my water / herbal tea intake reducing.

And a reminder re 🥝🥝 for happy loo time.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/02/2025 13:21

Loo is happening and I think I drink a lot but been v busy at work so maybe it's down. I'll up my water over the weekend!

Period due in a week so expecting to gain then too 😭

Darlinghag · 01/03/2025 10:08

Morning all!

Its that time again!

This week I have lost a 1lb, taking me to 15st1.6lbs. That’s exactly 7lbs lost in the month of Feb, and 1.7lbs away from my 12th March goal to get under 15st.

Some stuff I noticed this week:

  • someone took a photo where I am in the background - I didn’t hate it!! I’m standing so its kind of best angles, but you wouldn’t look at me and think ‘fat!’
  • i don’t particularly look at odds among my siblings now. I am still the biggest, but I am creeping in to similar territory to one, who is probably a size a size or two smaller.
  • MJ seems to be doing its thing well on this 8mg dose. I’m really enjoying the cycling parts, where I tend to be on quite high suppression for a couple of days and then gradually build an appetite up - it works super well with my lifestyle.
  • My dressing gown is at the end of its lifespan!! It fitted me back as a 26 and I only wear it in the winter, but now its touching the ground as I have shrunk!!

My tastebuds continue to change so much on MJ. I haven’t lost my sweet tooth too much - but pasta and pizza 🤢🤢🤢 It all just feels repulsive and heavy and gross. Having to go to an Italian restaurant tonight and I will have to stick steak because nothing else sounds good!

I have a big trip in a couple of months - and the food is actually the bit I am not looking forward to now - its quite carb heavy and I wonder how I will negotiate this.

How is everyone else doing? Hope its a sunny day and a good week!

dimples76 · 01/03/2025 10:41

Well done @darlinghag!

I had my first 5mg jab on Tuesday evening but have not felt as much appetite suppression this week but then my period started yesterday. It is my first period since starting mounjaro and super heavy compared to normal. I am 48 and over the last couple if years they had become quite light. Not loving this side effect!

My DC were on half term this week so I worried being out of routine would not help me eat well but it has been pretty good going. Before I started mounjaro I was on mission to reduce UPF from all three of our diets. Unfortunately I think since starting my kids have had more, so I need to get back on track more with meal planning that can fit around all three of our needs.

MamaNewtNewt · 01/03/2025 10:44

@Darlinghag that must have been a nice moment, I absolutely hate photos of me at the moment.

I'm just about to do some meal planning, if anyone has any recommendations for veggie meals and snacks let me know!
