I've had a message from MedExpress saying that my GP practice has declined to share any information with them and that unless I can make them do so they can't prescribe again. I have 2 pens waiting so I think I'll cross that bridge when I come to it (mind you, it would probably take 2 pens to get through to my GP practice to make the request!).

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 14/02/2025 12:35

I've just switched to Medicine Marketplace and had a good experience @SqueakyDinosaur if you want an alternative.

gimmemounjaro · 14/02/2025 12:37

Oh that's a worry @SqueakyDinosaur
I'm with MedExpress too, maybe they will do the same to me. They might end up losing a lot of customers if GPs refuse to share information.

I wonder why they won't share - probably just a workload thing but a bit annoying given that you are potentially saving the NHS what it would cost to care for the old obese you, by funding your own journey to good health.

NewbieMJ · 14/02/2025 13:02

@SqueakyDinosaur - that's a shame and a worry. I am also with MedExpress and chances are they wouldn't get info out of my GP either. As @VelociraptorsVelociRapping has indicated, there are other providers, so I will just take my custom elsewhere if that happens. Thanks for the recommendation of Medicine Marketplace. I will take a look. I like MedExpress too. Will report back if I get the same message.

I have had a good experience with simple online pharmacy and they price match as well.

Went swimming today which was fab, much easier now a bit thinner.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/02/2025 14:24

Belated Happy Birthday @MooBaggage 🎂

Wow and well done @SilenceInside !🍾 100lbs is mind-blowing! Hope you take a moment to stop and let that really sink in! You started around the same time as me (I was late June), I don't think back then either of us would have thought we would have come as far as we have and still be going!

@SqueakyDinosaur I have never used Medexpress, but from what I hear on here it feels like their business model is volume sales and they are not interested in any customers who have "complications", whether that is medical or administrative. Hopefully you will be able to easily move to another supplier.

I understand the need to ensure it is being prescribed correctly, and also understand GPs not being able to deal with the extra workload. But, as pharmacies look at how to conform to the new regulations, requiring proof of medical history is concerning, that it might limit the suppliers open to me as I come from Scotland and I cannot give them a copy from an NHS app that is available in England, that some now appear to ask for. Fingers crossed it will work out ok.

dimples76 · 14/02/2025 15:16

Glad that you had a good bday @MooBaggage!

Congrats to people on the milestone losses.

When I got onto the scales at the gym today the person before me had weighed 64.5kg which is half my starting weight. Felt rather horrified until I saw that I had lost 2 kilos. 2 weeks in and I am down 5.5 kilos. Generally feeling good but very tired today.

I have booked to take the children yo Drayton Manor at Easter which is really focusing my mind as I want to be able to fit on the rides

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 14/02/2025 18:38

Happy birthday @MooBaggage !!

and congrats on your milestones @QueenOfHiraeth and @SilenceInside

Ke11 · 14/02/2025 19:36

Hi all, I'm at the very start of this being 2 days into week 2 of my first ever mj pen. Just done a quick calculation and I need to lose 44kg to just make it into "normal" weight, weighing 72kg would give me a bmi of 24.9.

I started at 116kg and have been as high as maybe 150kg in the past. Getting down to 72kg seems like fantasy numbers for me but that is my end goal. Currently my goal is to get under 100kg for the first time in probably 20 years.

I'm currently at 112kg after week one, I dont expect big losses after that, I'm just hoping the number is less each week.

InfoSecInTheCity · 14/02/2025 19:47

Happy Birthday @MooBaggage 🎉🥳

Well done of the losses and milestones ladies and welcome @Ke11 !

Me and DD are off for a few days in Spain next Monday, can't stop checking the weather forecast and dreaming longingly about 19 degrees and sunny, so so so looking forward to it. Leaving DH here, which I should probably feel bad about but I'm looking forward to the sun too much to feel any guilt, so hard luck DH, I'll make it up to him somehow, might buy him a bag of sweets or magnet from the souvenir shop 😆

50lb loss since August, I like round numbers so that feels like a good one to call out. Hopefully I won't go crazy with ice creams and paella. I don't plan to deprive myself of all treats but will try to be somewhat sensible,

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 20:55

Wow love reading all these losses! @SilenceInside you started at a similar starting weight to me so it's so hopeful to see you acing it. I'm 13lb down and did jab 6 today. Bit nervous about nausea/titedness as j wasn't great last week but I know long term it's all worth it.

Silence have you done anything specific alongside MJ?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 21:01

My GP sent me a standard text message saying they weren't sharing any details with private pharmacies unless they paid them for the report, and that prescribing was their responsibility.

SilenceInside · 14/02/2025 22:00

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden almost a stone down is brilliant, congratulations.

I haven't done anything specific whilst taking Mounjaro, part of my issue was not having the headspace to think about looking after myself so the idea of specific plans and systems was not something I wanted to contemplate. I have tried to go with how I'm feeling and gradually build in new habits. The suppression even from the first dose of 2.5mg was really high for me, which helped with stopping the constant snacking dead. It really was constant too, something that WFH didn't help with! I used to eat so many bloody packets of crisps, I can't really imagine it now.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 22:01

Ha yes crisps were my downfall too. And the night time cheese and crackers. I haven't wanted either!!

alltablenochairs · 15/02/2025 00:44

Family size bags of crisps here were my downfall. Every single night without fail. DH for valentines day today brought me fruit (gold kiwis and cherries- the absolute best). Since being on MJ I have lost the best part of 20kg.

Time for a mega NSV- any by all means please tell me to shut up if I am boring anyone. Most long termers on this thread are probably aware I'm a wheelchair user (with zero regrets!) Spinal issues, hEDS, severe ME and being critically ill a year ago. I'm also on and off hoisted. Previously my slings have been 'spacer' fabric (like that holey fabric on the back of a rucksack). It's also abrasive. However I've lost enough weight now to be able to use parasilk slings which are essentially parachute material. And so much nicer. This is going to make such a big difference to my comfort levels.

20kg is an amazing result, you must be really pleased!

I've only lost 12kg since November,I must be a slow responder! I'm currently hovering between 109kg-111kg and it's really bloody annoying me!!
I've been here for about 2 weeks now but I'm know it will kick in again. I've used a couple of recipes off here which where lovely so at least I'm eating a bit better.
I'm not drinking enough water either as of yesterday I've had none! I have been drinking loads of tes though so I'm not dehydrated!

Will start drinking 2ltres a day from tomorrow it's just I hate water! Oh well needs must!!

dimples76 · 15/02/2025 06:55

@alltablenochairs that's wonderful news re the hoist and sounds like it will make a big difference. Congratulations!

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/02/2025 07:03

Brilliant update @alltablenochairs !

@Amarajean I think your loss is about right, not slow at all. If I look back at my tracker, I've lost 22.7 kg since 19th Aug, 10.7 kg of that was between 1st Nov to now, so if you've lost 12 kg since Nov then we're losing at the same kind of rate.

Water is helpful, I do notice a difference when I make sure I drink plenty, but like you, I don't like it, so I drink flavoured water and that still seems to achieve the goal.

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 15/02/2025 10:28

Made it to 4 stone! Another 6lb to get into the obese category....sounds so wrong saying I am looking forwards to that 😂...and at least 2st 1lb to get into overweight zone though so hopefully it keeps working

Snozzlemaid · 15/02/2025 10:32

I've had a huge clear out of my wardrobe this morning and now it's almost empty!
I've got absolutely nothing to wear when the weather warms up, being 5 stone heavier in the summer last year and for multiple summers before.
So some serious shopping will be needed sometime soon. I'm really looking forward to enjoying summer clothes much more this year. I'm going to get some lovely summery bright colours instead of subtle colours to hide away in.

gimmemounjaro · 15/02/2025 10:35

I've lost about the same @Amarajean, 10kg since 2 Nov. I think it's a good rate and you might be glad of that steady progress later. Annoying to be hovering though, fingers crossed upping the water helps 🤞

I am the same, slowed down a bit lately, now seeing if eating breakfast helps. I'm not really a breakfast person and haven't eaten it regularly for years but maybe it will help to get my metabolism going.

Darlinghag · 15/02/2025 10:50

Morning folks. Its a maintain for me this week.

I actually have been almost a pound lower, but lots of factors at play - period started, I have had an incredibly busy week with no routine, so haven’t tracked for three days (although doubt I would have surpassed even my deficit for the most part!) and I haven’t managed so much water.

The last couple of weeks have been fine supression wise etc, but I am definitely less focused on the whole MJ thing. I’ve said before, being busy makes me truly not think about anything to do with the whole journey and it was proven this week.

With no scale victories this week, some non ones:

  • Had to fit in a teeny seat yesterday - fit comfortably!!
  • had some new vinted purchases in sizes 16-18 - all fitting!!
  • I can feel the tendons/ligaments behind my knee, they stick out!!
  • one of the kids in my family took a weird picture of me (upshot, too close haha) and omg, my collarbones!!!!
  • went for an uphill walk - wasnt out of breath!!

My body sometimes feels alien to me, like catching sight of myself or doing something small in a way i couldn’t before. I’m also starting to not feel…like fat? I can’t describe it, and i objectively am 5 stone overweight, but I am no longer an outlier among people, or habitually one of the fattest in the room?

i hope everyone is doing well!

SqueakyDinosaur · 15/02/2025 10:58

but I am no longer an outlier among people, or habitually one of the fattest in the room

Oh yes! This is such a weird feeling! I was on the tube the other day sitting next to a woman I would have categorised as the same size as me. It took me several stops to realisethat actually, no, i was quite a bit smaller than her.

Darlinghag · 15/02/2025 11:02

@SqueakyDinosaur right?? Not something I would ever verbalise outside of here as I would never want to shame or make anyone uncomfortable but i have never not been one of the fattest.

alltablenochairs · 15/02/2025 11:02

Another NSV.

I rarely use the seat belt on my chair. Generally only if I am in a moving vehicle or if I am going over rough ground. I was in a minibus taxi this morning and went to use it- and it was way too big for me.
I've been using MJ for 5 months now and have lost 20kg in that time.
