C25K runners - anyone want to join?

Finally hauled myself out of bed this morning to restart C25K, having been wanting to get back into running now that I’ve lost weight on MJ.

Two years ago I was able to run 10K… this morning the three minute runs in week 3 (I’m impatient…) were a real stretch - but it felt so good to be back out there.

I’ve struggled to get consistently into exercise since starting WLI in September but am now about a stone from target and really need to sort it out. I’m hoping getting into regular running will kick start some strength training motivation too.

Amyone else want to join in for mutual support?

W3R1 ✅Most proud of my teenage DD this morning for coming with me at 7am! Doing this together and it’s so nice.

Just checking in. I have done week 4/2 today in the freezing rain and felt gooooood. After a rubbish day at work I was almost going home and collapse on sofa, but it really cleared my head from a lot of stress.

85reasons · 12/02/2025 16:25

@Thighdentitycrisis amazing going running in the rain - bet you felt great afterwards. I am finding that I’m SO COLD about an hour after being outside but it’s really invigorating too.

Went this morning for W3R2 - although have a sore throat today so can feel I’m coming down with something..

I don’t think I could do it for an hour ! But pleased with myself for keeping it up. I feel like I’m losing weight but haven’t weighed myself

Week 6 run 2 done. The next one is 25 minutes 😮.

peonym · 16/02/2025 19:30

Hi all glad I found this thread! I've been on MJ since end Sept and started peloton at that time too. I used to run a good bit (never any more than 5k!) but haven't done any runs since 2020. I decided to skip C25K and use the Nike Run Club app - I absolutely love it. Just did the first run and the next run this week, 20 min and 22 min respectively. My pace is shocking and times therefore embarrassingly slow BUT I'm moving lol.

Going to aim for 2 runs a week and 2 peloton rides a week. Hope to hold myself accountable in this thread!

What is the Nike Run Club app like @peonym? sounds like maybe something that could help with a bit of structure once we finish c25k?

I have been a bit off track over the past couple of weeks due to a bit of work travel and kids being off for half term last week. I have been doing an occasional run but it has been pretty patcy. Getting back on track from today though. I repeated W5R1, and managed to extend the final run from 5mins to 10 mins. Very pleased with that!

And well done @Midlifecrisisxamillion, you are storming ahead! I hope the 25mins goes well!

85reasons · 17/02/2025 15:17

Hi all and welcome @peonym - I think I tried the Nike app a few years ago but couldn’t work out how to play my own music alongside (probably me being thick however).

@sylv165 an also a bit out of the loop having been ill since Wednesday - aiming to get back into the runs from Thursday this week.

Thanks. I've had a really sore knee for a few days. Was due to do the 25 minutes in Saturday but it was too sore so I've postponed it and hoping to do it tomorrow if the knee is ok. Went swimming today and managed to walk the dog so hopefully can get to 25 mins tomorrow.

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 18/02/2025 09:10

Well I did the 25 minutes 😁. I only did 1.9 miles in 25 minutes though so I'm no where near 5k. Still managed 25 mins without stopping though which is good.

peonym · 18/02/2025 09:39

Thanks @85reasons ! Mine seems to play automatically but if I work out how to do it I'll be sure to pop it in here!

@sylv165 its basically an app full of guided Nike runs - guided meaning there's a "coach" who talks you through it as needed. Theres a huge bank of guided runs in all shapes and sizes, and Coach Bennett is the main one I tend to listen to. He comes on every few minutes to offer words of encouragement / distract you from the hell lol. Definitely one to do after C25k as it doesn't necessarily include walking breaks or any stops (although of course you can just pause it!). Would very much recommend! It has some tricker interval runs too, which I haven't attempted in a while.

Finally did the dreaded 20mins last night! I tried (and failed) earlier in the week so am relieved it's done. A total milestone for me as I started in October but have had so many set backs along the way. 20 mins plus 3 mins at the weekend.

sylv165 · 19/02/2025 10:20

Thanks @peonym i will definitely look into that for when I finish. When I used to run properly I did enjoy an interval session and had been thinking my next stage would be to go back to the start of c25k and instead of jogging/walking do running/jogging in the intervals to try and increase my speed and stamina. But the Nike app sounds like it would be much better.

Once I finish the 5k runner app (next week hopefully) I'm planning to switch to the 10K version. Not sure what it's like yet

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 20/02/2025 14:41

Week 7 - run 1 today. I did slightly further distance for this 25 mins that I did in the last one. Last 8 or so minutes were a flipping killer this time though, not helped by ending on a hill. I did it early this morning and still feel horrific now 🤣

sylv165 · 20/02/2025 14:47

Well done @Midlifecrisisxamillion, and finishing on a hill too! Think of the stamina you are building by. I completed W5R2 today and am feeling like I am back in the game. It was fine actually, but like you I am finding that I am still pretty slow and not covering anywhere near 5k. But that will come eventually!

I also love intervals! That's a good idea, let me know how you get on once you finish C25K. I could not attempt a sprint anytime soon 🤣 I've just done a 22 min run so my next guided run is 25 mins which feels long lol.

I would LOVE to do a 5k, regardless of time. I reckon I would be close to 40 mins. A run is a run is a run though!

This is great - I can’t wait to be where you are now! My goal is to be back doing park run by the summer - having said that, right now I am in W3, running 3 minute intervals, and am recovering from a virus so have been ‘on the bench’ for a week.

I was supposed to do another 25 minutes yesterday and only managed 10. It felt horrific. Feel like I might have to drop back a few weeks which is so depressing as I'd got to 25 mins.

sylv165 · 24/02/2025 07:32

Don’t be disheartened @Midlifecrisisxamillion. We all have bad runs where we just aren’t feeling it. I’m sure you’ll be able to do it next time.

You were right. Thank you. I did 25 mins again this morning. Mostly downhill but that still counts right?

This was exactly me on Sunday - could not get past 10 mins. Went last night and did 25 mins with no problem. 2 runs away from finishing the programme.
