Jab five (first 5mg) today! So nervous about side effects, I’ve been so lucky until now!

I’m down nearly 19 pounds, which I’m thrilled about. Had two colleagues ask if I’d lost weight yesterday - I hadn’t been in the office since the 23rd because of a holiday and then breaking my toe, so they hadn’t seen me in a few weeks. That’s going to get me through any side effects I think!

Was very strange going to leaving drinks last night and being satisfied with a soda and lime cordial - just not bothered about the free wine!

ForPeachSake · 14/02/2025 08:15

W5D1 and I've lost 2lb this week taking my total on SheMed to 12lb in 4 weeks! Moving up to 5mg this evening so fingers crossed the little side effects I've had so far remain! Hope everyone is well

OneAzureMaker · 14/02/2025 08:40

I hope the nausea isn't too bad @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

Congratulations to everyone for their losses.

1.8kg off for me today, week 6day1
Second 5mg jab done with some trepidation. I felt really unwell last week, diarrhoea, but also really floaty, dizzy and tired, that lasted until Tuesday evening. Really hoping for a better week.

I've lost 9.8kg, 1.5 stone since beginning 6 weeks ago!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 09:25

@Bananaramram Wahoo that's fab when others see it isn't it? And 19lbs is amazing. I am thinking mine might be more visible by the summer so I have an "end of term" sort of period in my mind.

@ForPeachSake amazing loss - and fingers crossed for the side effects x

@OneAzureMaker 1.5 stone is incredible! I'm so close to 1 stone so a bit behind you but its all amazing given the short time we've been on it isn't it? Hope youre okay this week - I think we've had a similar experience with going up to 5 . I'm bracing myself as I think from shotsy it is a little bit more in the system than last week but after this it should get easier...

I really hope so! The first 4 days I had a sleep during the day and have never felt so cold!

TaliaTalia · 14/02/2025 13:30

Those who have dealt with feeling cold - is your body/skin temperature actually low or is it just an internal feeling?
I went to bed feeling really rubbish last night, I was FREEZING. Shivers like I was coming down with something but my skin was really cold to the touch too. Drifted off to sleep and woke with a start after 20 minutes feeling like I was going to be sick but it went away by itself and by the time I next stirred a couple of hours later I felt fine again. But I’m not sure if it was jab related (I had quite a creamy gnocchi for dinner though didn’t eat much), whether I was just feeling rubbish because I’d been out in the cold lots that day or whether I’m coming down with something - I finished breastfeeding not long before starting the jabs and I felt a bit mastitis-y last night.

Either way, fine today thankfully.

kittykarate · 14/02/2025 13:55

The feeling cold thing ranges from 'ooh, I could do with a jumper' slight surface chill to full on teeth chattering and physical juddering for me. It's worse if I'm physically tired, not eaten well or am thirsty.

afromom · 14/02/2025 14:00

I hadn't noted coldness as one of the side effects I had read about, but last night I was so cold at one stage my joints were hurting! And my hands and feet were like ice. I took my first jab yesterday so that probably explains it. I'm not someone who tends to feel cold, with all the extra padding I have so it caught me by surprise!

Bear2014 · 14/02/2025 14:56

I've been finding it hard to tell about the cold thing as it's freezing at the moment and we're having our kitchen done so there is so much extra cold coming into the house, so we're all struggling to stay warm. But yeah I'm cold 🥶😆

Newshoesnewname · 14/02/2025 16:45

Hi all

Congratulations to all of the losers. Keep on keeping on to a the stallers, and commiserations to all those with side effects.

W3 D1 for me today, and another 1 lb off. I'm really pleased with that as 2.5 mg isn't working very well for me. I had 2 days with a bit of suppression, 2 days ravenous and the rest back to normal. My willpower is certainly getting tested.

I'm also pleased with my total of 6 lbs in 2 weeks. If I only lose 1 lb per week for a year it will be over 3 stone off in a year and should avoid any lose skin .

I've done my check in and refill questionnaire, and ticked to say I was happy to move up a dose so fingers crossed for 5 mg next month.

I felt like that for the first 4 days post my first 5mg jab. I felt fluey, floaty, dizzy and cold, alongside diarrhoea. Really unpleasant and then all of a sudden it went.

Kaggi9 · 14/02/2025 18:31

First proper check in today and 12lb lost. 😁😁😁😁😁

bluesmartie83 · 14/02/2025 20:28

I had a bit of me time today! I finish work at 12pm on a Friday so met a friend for coffee. We pottered around and I bagged myself some new make up. I even started my 28 day Pilates challenge with the Pilates bar that has been sat in my car for 3 weeks! I am feeling good. I can genuinely say this is the first time I feel as though I will actually achieve my goal and not give up after a month. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend whatever you are doing. Fingers crossed as we move through this programme the side effects will become less for everyone and we all will reap the benefits. For me this is definitely more than losing weight - I feel that I am finding myself again. 💖

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 21:27

Great to hear everyone's news.

@Kaggi9 wow that took me 5 weeks!!!

I jabbed about 5. In bed by 8.... Fingers crossed for tomorrow zzz

For those that are calorie counting do you split your calorie allowance evenly over 7 days or allow more on certain day or days?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/02/2025 14:37

I woke at 4 feeling so sick. (second dose of 5mg). Writing today off tbh. I really hope this improves.

I've taken a travel sickness tablet and jsut feel dopey and sick now.

xxCatCrazyxx · 15/02/2025 15:13

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I hope it wears off soon. I had my first 5mg on Thurs and it's really hit me. Fatigue is awful and waves of nausea. Woke up just after 6am and had to get up due to feeling sick, I couldn't get back to sleep. Managing to eat a little. I'm so glad jab day is Thursday as it really hits me over the weekend. Luckily it's a quiet one this weekend. I am really hoping this gets easier in the coming weeks. I expect I'll defo be in bed by 8 tonight! Sounds like I might need to ensure there's not much going on next weekend....

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden were you ill after the first dose of 5mg too? I'm taking my first one on Monday and I'm really worried how it's going to affect me.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/02/2025 17:10

Oh no @xxCatCrazyxx not you too. Similar symptoms. I've got lots on tomorrow and not quite sure I how I will do this as I've been in bed all day today and too dizzy/nauseas when I get up.

@Mazd323 I had nausea and tiredness after my first 5mg which wasn't fun but not this full on sick feeling and dizziness so for me the second jab was worse.

Google says 1 in 10 for sickness and 1 in 5 for nausea so chances are you will be fine but I feel so rubbish I'd plan just in case...

I really hope the next jab is better. I can see why people would give up - if I didn't have 10stone to go I wouldn't be doing this.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I'm hoping this is short term pain for long term gain. I will defo be blocking out next weekend after my second 5mg, apart from a vist from my DM! Hopefully a good rest this weekend will help you.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/02/2025 17:47

Yup it will all be worth it. I've just told my husband that the alternative is surgery and long term stomach issues/ restrictions so this is still the lesser of 2 evils.

I'm really hoping we aclimatise to the dose - and that 5 works for a good few months!

OP posts:
DIYMum · 15/02/2025 19:30

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden @xxCatCrazyxx me too! I’ve been feeling lousy since second 5mg dose. Constantly nauseous and awake last night with terrible indigestion. Also fatigued to the point I’m struggling to do very much at all.
My OH keeps asking if I’m ill - I don’t want to admit that it’s the MJ as he wasn’t happy I’d signed up.
We went out for a meal for valentines and I only just picked at my food - nothing tasted right and the nausea was awful.
I started questioning the decision to start this again as I’ve been thoroughly miserable. I have to keep reminding myself that being obese was also making me miserable so I’ll keep on keeping on.
Also spent afternoon shouting at the radio - the arrogance of some of the callers on Radio 4 Any Answers about obesity and ‘it’s a choice’ ‘people need better education around healthy choices’ made me so mad. So little understanding - do they think all obese people are stupid? If it was that easy there wouldn’t be an ‘obesity crisis’ !
Rant over - back to the Gaviscon 🙄

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/02/2025 19:37

@DIYMum Sorry you're rough too 😞.

OP posts:
xxCatCrazyxx · 15/02/2025 19:53

@DIYMum sorry to hear this. My OH has at least been supportive but I've not and am not going to tell anyone else so if this carries on it'll be very hard to hide! I am hoping we can all get used to this over the next few weeks, surely it can't carry on the whole time on 5mg?

I'm glad I didn't hear that call in on the radio, people passing judgement on something they really don't understand, defo not in the mood for that at the moment. I've been so down about my weight over the last year, I've been suffering with anxiety (thank you perimenopause) and stress due to work/family that has left me in a vicious circle with food, it's always been my coping mechanism. I then wonder what is wrong with me and why I can't control myself, even though I know I'm doing so much damage. I really want to continue this journey, I've not wanted to eat any rubbish or drink. It's all so simple in so many people's eyes.

FollyDear · 16/02/2025 09:51

Really sorry to hear that the 5mg is hitting some people hard. I've just done my last 2,5 dose and lost a measly 100g 😂 so definitely ready to move up, 3.8kg in my first month. Not as much as I was hoping for, but I guess it's a marathon not a sprint.
