Helloo! Thanks for the sympathy and check ins last week when I was having a rough time on holiday . Thankfully I didn't cause any brown snow warnings on the slopes, but I couldn't sit down on the toilet for a wee without something else happening.

I had really strong side effects for me - absolutely teeth chatteringly, shivery cold, really disturbed sleep (shivering as I went to sleep, burning up and sweaty in the middle of the night), and of course bathroom unpleasantness. I don't know whether it was the extra physical activity that caused it to go wild (my normal tdee is 1600, and according to my fitbit I was burning 2300 a day) or my stomach didn't like the Finnish coffee at breakfast. Anyway, I'm grateful that Shemed let me hold on 2.5, because I dread how bad I'd have felt on the higher dose.

Check in today - hopefully I've gained from all the pain!

SnowieBear · 18/02/2025 11:22

Morning everyone! I completed my W3 questionnaire on Friday and today I got confirmation payment has been taken from my account, but no info as to whether they have decided to step me up to 5mg or keep me at 2.5mg 🤔

Really hoping for a step up, I feel suppression waning by the end of the week and I am doing OK with side effects aside from being cold all the time.

Mumof5cubs · 18/02/2025 11:43

hello all 👋
ive been silent since the horrendous 5mg reaction/ food poisoning episode .. still not sure which it was.

4 of the 5 kiddies have been poorly one after the other with a horrible tummy flu but I’ve been reading all the posts here.

3rd 5mg for me today.
weight loss has slowed right down but I genuinely think MJ is having an effect on my PMS- water retention,
horrendous period pains and nausea ramped up like last month.

i hope everyone is doing well today 🌸

kittykarate · 18/02/2025 12:03

7th dose check in done, I'm SW 90kg, CW 82.9kg. I made a right hash of my jab and ended up bleeding a little, I was probably subconciously cocking it up because of how wild last week was for symptoms.

bluesmartie83 · 19/02/2025 07:11

First 5mg jab this morning. I am impatient and couldn't wait so jabbed this morning at 5.30am when I did my weigh in. So far so good 🤞.

First 5mg jab this morning. I am impatient and couldn't wait so jabbed this morning at 5.30am when I did my weigh in. So far so good 🤞.

Mine is tomorrow. My first 5mg.
Need to get a huge salad in to prepare for that one. ! Make smoothies, buy nuts etc. 😁

I've been great with side effects so I'm expecting more of the same positively. Just expecting good things!

I'm so ready for it. Ive been eating a little of what I fancy this week to up my calories as I want to lose a stone before I go on holiday at start of April and I've been very consciously under eating which isn't helping.

I haven't worn a bikini in years, and feeling comfortable enough to do that is my first mini goal. Oh, and get into the ones I already have as I'm determined not to buy new for me as I have so much clothing in the loft anyway.

X

tinyemmy · 19/02/2025 07:36

Good morning! 3rd dose of the 5mg today. Only a pound off this week which is a bit sad as nothing else has changed but it was bound to slow down eventually. In 6 weeks I've still lost over a stone and BMI in the overweight rather than obese zone now.
I filled in my questionnaire and said I'd be happy to stay on 5mg. I think the suppression is there, I'm not reaching for extra snacks and things and everything I've heard is to stay on the lower doses for as long as possible. Let's see what they prescribe!

themumformerlyknownas · 19/02/2025 12:29

Hi everyone! Hope you're all managing well - I've been a bit quiet the last couple of weeks due to my schedule and juggling half term this week. But, I took my fourth and final jab of 2.5mg yesterday evening, slept it off, and I'll be starting my new pen that's 5mg next week. A bit nervous given I've seen lots of posts on here and Facebook about side effects but I'm hoping that if I take it on in the evening again I can sleep it off as I have been with 2.5mg.

8kg loss overall so far, which I'm happy with! My BMI is still in the overweight category though, and apparently Bupa's calculator says I should be aiming for 63kg for my height (5ft7) to be at a healthy BMI so that's the goal now.

Due my first period on MJ this week though and praying that goes okay 😅

Oh yeah I accidentally took the needle out at the wrong angle last week for my third dose and ended up giving myself a nice little scratch! Barely felt it but lots of blood 😅

SnowieBear · 19/02/2025 12:56

Check in day for DH today and start of Q3. He's down 1.2kg, making it 3.8kg in the three weeks since he signed up. He's got a fair bit to lose, I think he feels impatient to see the scales shift significantly, but I have reassured him about the rate of loss, etc.

My prescription got issued last night, I will be moving up to 5mg for W5, so just over a week and a half to go on 2.5mg.

Energy levels still high and still freezing all the time. Had one of my Pilates classes last night and really enjoyed it, felt really accountable in pushing myself and it was the right level of challenge and great feeling afterwards.

bluesmartie83 · 19/02/2025 17:34

A quick update. Coming to the end of my 1st day after my 1st 5mg jab. I've been lucky and had very few symptoms. A little headache towards the end of my day - but could have been I've been working at my desk all day! Not thought about food at all and have been satisfied with the lunch I brought with me. Hoping this continues over the week.

Earthgirl3971 · 20/02/2025 08:35

Last weigh in on 2.5mg and I've maintained my weight from last week. But my scale and app tell me I've lost 1% body fat overall.

I can see this as my stomach and back fat are reducing and my clothes are fitting better.

I only had some waves of suppression this week and needed to try at it. Still some nice things slipped in and I've still maintained my current weigh.

Wish I could weigh naked, as that does put me at a few lighter without holding my phone and my light pjs. Every little helps right. But I guess if I always wear the same PJ's and hold my phone it's just the same anyway.

So my target this month on 5mg is to shift that last 3lb then I'll have my first stone weight loss.

Looking forward to reading everyone else's experiences this week.

X.

Bear2014 · 20/02/2025 09:39

Hope everyone is good today! So I lost exactly a stone on 2.5mg, really chuffed with that. I haven't been calorie counting but I've been making much healthier choices and have had very little appetite.

Gone up a dose this week which I was apprehensive about as me and the kids are staying with my parents but it's been fine. Suppression is strong but no real symptoms and my parents eat really healthily anyway.

I still haven't told a soul, not even OH which is ridiculous but I'm still playing a little game with myself to see how long it takes someone to notice 😂

My parents mentioned that my sister is taking WLI and has been since the beginning of the year, so about 2 weeks longer than me. She hasn't told me herself so I'll see if she does when we next see each other! She's got a bit more to lose than me I think, and I was wondering if she would try it at some point. Will be interesting to see how we both get on.. I think we have both been equally affected over the last decade by multiple rounds of IVF and baby weight swiftly followed by perimenopause.

afromom · 20/02/2025 10:17

It's really good to read about everyone's journeys on here. I had my second weigh in today and have lost 12lb in week one! I do have a large amount to loose (11stone) and my eating has gone from appalling to very limited. The suppression from day one was immense and I have struggled to even reach 800/1000 calories this week. I'm going to try to eat a little more often this week to get a bit more goodness into me. I've been eating pretty much entirely protein and veg/salad/fruit this week. Luckily no side effect issues, just burping ALOT (but thankfully just air no sulphur taste) and some constipation towards the end of the week, which seems to have resolved with a few prunes a day. DP has asked when I'm going to stop giving him regular updates on my toilet habits 😂
Looking forward to week 2, I'm not expecting as much as this week, but 4lb would be nice to put me in the next 1/2stone bracket. I've decided to set an initial target for myself of being under 40 BMI, I'm at 44.4 right now so a couple of stone off to reach that.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 20/02/2025 12:48

Hello!

Weve been away for a few days and I haven't been able to obsessively weight so my check in tomorrow will be a genuine surprise.

I had really horrible nausea beginning of the week (had to stay in bed one day and restricted me the next, still felt it following day) but last couple of days have been fine thankfully!

@afromom wow that's incredible! You've a similar weight to me to lose altogether but that took me a month to lose 😂. What a fab start to your journey. I'm still closer to bmi 50 but similarly I have bmi of 40/35 as goals in my head.

@Bear2014 wow yay for the first stone! How funny your sister has started it at the same time. There must be so many of us out there on it.

@Earthgirl3971 yay for clothes fitting better. I have kept a separate "naked weight" record for myself partly for that reason!! I guess at least the phone weight it consistent each week.

@bluesmartie83 hope 5mg continues to be okay for you 🤞.

@SnowieBear sounds like your DH is losing consistently which is fab and glad you're going well.

Eek for the scratches from the needle.

Yay for all the losses and great to hear people at the stage of reordering or losing first stone etc. We're all doing so well. Can't believe I'll be ordering my next pen tomorrow!

@tinyemmy Hope the antibiotics have kicked in and you're going okay. I'm surprised for you it's "only" a pound too if you've been ill but maybe (and I so don't understand how all this works) you're holding onto water with the drugs and having been ill which might come off too. A pound a week is still 52 pounds over a year - I just know I'd feel disappointed too after being ill!

@Reginaphalangeeeee Just to let you know I've been thinking of you. Nothing I can say at all can help I know but thinking of you xx.

Today has been a mixed bag! Felt great this morning until about 10.30am then a wave of nausea hit - nothing too bad but had to stop what I was doing a take a few deep breaths. Drank some water and made a ginger & lemon tea and it passed. I'm thinking I may need to eat more than a cereal bar for breakfast and up my protein going forward! I haven't really thought much about my diet hoping to try and not fixate on it too much because that has always been my downfall. I want to be able to eat mindfully going forward but am aware I need to improve what I am eating overall.

afromom · 20/02/2025 17:03

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden thanks, to be honest I was really surprised. Sorry to hear you are still suffering with feeling poorly, I feel like I'm waiting for some gastro issues to hit me at some point.

BruhWhy · 20/02/2025 17:05

5mg here we go...

Weigh and jab day today, I only lost 1lbs this week, and it has been a struggle. I haven't felt any effects of the medication really, I have felt pretty much normal... coupled with the fact I've felt pretty poorly and just wanted to eat bread 🙈 it's not been great.

Still pleased for my 1lb loss though. Here's to the big scary double dose. Wish me luck.

JBJ · 20/02/2025 17:23

Just had confirmation of my 5mg pen. So happy, as the food suppression has just about vanished this past week and I'm struggling not to overeat. Although I haven't been craving chocolate and junk food, just generally really hungry! 11 more days on 2.5mg!

bertieallsort · 20/02/2025 20:36

W1D4 now & happily not had any bad symptoms, I’ve had the occasional waves of nausea but nothing serious & I’ve been having peppermint teas & ginger teas which have helped them.
Genuinely surprised by the appetite suppression, it didn’t kick in much until yesterday but then the food noise has reduced loads! Made my tea tonight, I’d had the same meal last week but today I’ve only managed a third of it before feeling full. Being able to just push the bowl away even when it’s food I love is such a weird feeling! I’ve been actually worrying that I might not be eating enough so I’m making up some little snack pots with ham, cherry tomatoes & some nuts just to be able to have little bits to eat during the day.

bluesmartie83 · 21/02/2025 07:48

I am on a bit of a high this morning. Just put on a jumper which is usually a bit tight on me and it is quite loose and looks so much better. It has give me quite a boost and I bounced into work with a smile on my face. Have a great Friday peeps

ForPeachSake · 21/02/2025 07:57

W6D1 I can't believe how quickly these weekly check ins come around! I've lost 2lb this week, I've been off work all week laid up with tonsillitis and a chest infection so quite happy with this. I have officially lost my first stone now, 14lb gone in 5 weeks.

SnowieBear · 21/02/2025 08:23

W4D1, just did my weigh in...

1.2kg lost this week (2.6lb)
6.5kg since I signed up on 29 Jan (lost a bit before my first jab).

My first stone gone! Over the moon and very motivated 😊

I hope you all have a great Friday x

Brighton2019 · 21/02/2025 08:27

W2D7 - weigh in and jab day today. Already done my check in and lost 2lb this week following on from 4lb last week.
I am a little disappointed but keep telling myself this is a marathon, not a sprint! And I am still really proud that I have lost 6lbs in total in 2 weeks.
I have been really lucky and not had a lot of side effects - a little bit of heartburn, feeling really cold so I count myself very lucky!
