Congratulations for all the losers, and a hug to you all suffering with side effects.

Today was W2D1 for DH and he weighed himself first thing - he was very good pre-first shot, I am so delighted he's lost 4.1kg in two and a half weeks. He really needed that motivation, so I am chuffed to conkers for him.

I am plodding on, suppression still working, minimal side effects: very, very cold (weather does not help!), and voluble energy levels - off the scale one day, shattered the next. Certain I will find my balance, it's early days.

Most annoying symptom is after lunchtime. It's not dependent on quantity or type of food, whatever I eat seems to sit right at the top of my esophagus, as if the whole pipe was full and it was stacked up. It disappears by evening, but it is not a nice feeling.

Looking forward to my second shot and weigh in on Friday, minded to weigh first thing and inject after work, will get a more accurate feel for where I am.

BruhWhy · 13/02/2025 06:40

W4d1. Last 2.5mg dose to take this morning, then onto the 5mg pen that arrived Tuesday, next week.

3lb loss this week, so like @bluesmartie83 I've lost a total of 13lbs in 3 weeks. It's actually incredible... its usually at this point I start giving up, because I'm miserable and tired and overwhelmed, but knowing that isn't going to happen this time is just such a strange feeling.

It has felt sort of effortless. Is this how other people feel when they lose weight? Do they genuinely MEAN it when they say "eat less, move more" and it's this simple for them? Mindblowing 🤯

Lostatsea10 · 13/02/2025 06:41

Morning all, I’ve just done my check in, I’ve lost 2.5kg (about 4lbs). Very happy, though the trapped wind has come back with force overnight!

I’ll do my second jab later today.

Shmallow · 13/02/2025 08:01

Been a bit, how are we all?

So this week has been not great, I've just not eaten very well at all! I didn't really eat a whole lot more but definitely didn't eat the right stuff. Consequently I've lost less than a pound.

However. It is a total of 13lbs off in four weeks which on any other diet plan would be feeling amazing, and I am in this for the whole year. And today I've just done my first 5mg injection so I'm hoping that'll help. Also hoping I continue to have next to no side effects because I have a nine hour flight to get on tomorrow and my gaaaaad imagine how bad that could be 🤣🤣🤣🤣

DIYMum · 13/02/2025 08:14

Good morning all
another Thursday jabber here. W6D1 on 5mg. Pleased to be jabbing today as effects wearing off even on 5mg yesterday. Side effects have been manageable but I’ve been chilled to the bones for the last few days and incredibly tired.
I’ve lost 1st 2lbs so far and although it’s slow and steady I’m very pleased - I’d given up hope of ever losing the weight. Now thinking I might build up the courage to put my swimming costume on and get to the pool too to help things along!
Great to hear everyone’s progress - we all seem to be going in the right direction 👏

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/02/2025 08:26

Morning!

@SnowieBear so great your husbands had such a cracking first few weeks! It must be good to be on it together. I've no idea about your symptom though. Always worth a chat to shemed if you're worried?

@BruhWhy wow another amazing loss! (I'm a bit slower than you and smartie!) And yes it really is mind blowing to think how different it is for normal people when they decide to be careful what they eat etc. We can do do this!!!

@Lostatsea10 yay for a good loss and second jab day 🎉

@Shmallow wow 13 off in 4 weeks is still amazing! I was up at night and read one of the more established threads where some post their weekly amounts and it really does vary often 2-3 and sometimes more sometimes less. It really isn't linear. YAY!! for 5mg and exciting trip 🎉. Hoping for no side effects for you and have an amazing time.

@DIYMum you're a few days ahead of me. How exciting to be firmly into 5mg pen now. I'm struggling with the tiredness and hoping it will get easier as our body gets used to it. Amazing loss 🎉. And very exciting for swimming.

Hope everyone's okay. It's so exciting that lots of people are nearing their first whole stone off... We can so do this.

I keep allowing myself to think how different this summer will be.. and then feel nervous in case I jinx it somehow! I'll still be a very long way off goal but if I'm a few stone down it will make all the difference in the heat!

Where I have so much to lose I'm also thinking it might be quite a while before it "shows" or I need new clothes. But that time will be great when it comes 😊.

Total loss 8.7 pounds this morning!

Happy with that. This week coming I plan to combine exercise with my healthy eating and see if by the end of this week I can end my 2.5mg pen with a full 10lb loss. ! 🤩

Well done to everyone, I'm feeling so good this morning. Planning a good breakfast and to set myself up for success for the week.

I probably need to eat more this week .. somehow. Any ideas on what's working for people gratefully received.

It's so nice to follow everyone's journey. I finally got my email yesterday that I've been accepted and my jab is due on Friday. I'm keen to start as soon as possible, but I feel a little bit of trepidation at I'm travelling all day on Tuesday for business. Would this be silly to take my first dose on Friday? Should I wait till after Tuesday? Any advice welcome 🙏

@Shmallow that's a great loss in 4 weeks. Just a tip for your long flight...avoid anything fizzy before or during. Gas expands in the pressurised plane! You can get awful stomach pain. Stick with water or still drinks and take those Windeze tablets with you. Hope you have a good flight 😀

I started as soon as it arrived. I went out clubbing on Saturday afternoon which was two days later, I was fine.

You'll feel very in tune with your body, so pay attention to what it's saying. ☺️

Do start to reduce your portion sizes straight away and make healthier food choices and if you're not already: befriend peppermint tea.

It's a lifesaver. Every time I've felt I could have over done it. Peppermint tea saved me.

Good luck , I'm on my last 2.5mg shot this week and really pleased with how things have gone in my first month.

There are positive side effects to this medication such as pain relief and higher energy levels. So it's not saying anything bad will happen to you ☺️ it could be all good.

afromom · 13/02/2025 10:33

Well I've taken my first dose this morning, so look forward to seeing what the week ahead brings! Lots of people have mentioned peppermint tea, which I drink along side water pretty much exclusively, so I'm hoping that helps.
I went for a smear this morning too and the nurse was also the diabetic nurse so when I mentioned that I was taking my first jab today she talked me through loads of things which has really reassured me. Perfect timing!
Great to see the losses from everyone, very motivating as I start the journey. Thank you to everyone for sharing.

I've finally plucked up the courage and done my first injection this morning - can I ask when you started to feel the effects? Did you wake up the next morning and feel different, did it take a couple of doses?Just trying to work out what to expect.

Hi I'm in week 4 now on 2.5. For me it worked within hours, definitely by the next day. I had virtually no appetite and felt very full after eating. Still had no negative side effects at all though really and looking forward to stepping up the dose as I'm feeling some suppression but not as much now. Good luck!

JBJ · 13/02/2025 14:50

W2D4 and I'm absolutely starving today! Had a 2 egg omelette for breakfast, with 2 bacon medallions and some tinned tomatoes, a UFit protein shake at lunch (I don't normally do both breakfast and lunch, never have) and I'm doing a roast chicken dinner tonight, plus got a protein yoghurt for later, so will be at 110g protein for the day. I could eat the entire fridge though at the minute! First time I've felt like this since starting early last week and I'm hoping it doesn't continue as I'm practically sitting on my hands to stop me from eating crap!

Was more or less instant for me. Took it first thing in the morning, I don’t usually eat breakfast and by lunch (where I’d usually be starving) I didn’t really fancy anything at all. I’m three weeks in now and it’s been life changing. Good luck ❤️

TaliaTalia · 13/02/2025 15:43

W3D1 today. Quickest check in and jab ever this morning while DH was in the shower. Have ordered my next pen too. Was dithering about seeing if they’d let me stay on 2.5 another month as I’ve had no side effects and really struggling to get my calories in but I’ve decided to chance 5 🤞
Hoping W3 isn’t when side effects decide to kick in as I have my mum and brother flying in from my home country for a visit, arriving tonight. My mum is both a massive feeder and the world’s worst cook so we usually end up eating a lot of processed stuff when she’s over. I’ve pre planned and done a full meal plan in the hope she can just let go and let me get on with it for once 😂

kittykarate · 13/02/2025 16:24

Week 6 on 2.5 for me. Finding it a bit tough to be honest, disturbed sleep, angry bowels. I get back from skiing and I'm physically shivering with cold.

I'm on the same track as you. My first jab due to be here tomorrow.
I think I'm gonna do Friday tea time. I'm usually home Friday evening so I can monitor any initial side effects at home and before bedtime.
I cannot wait to get started!

ThinBy50 · 13/02/2025 18:54

I finally got the email approving me today so Jan should be here in a few days I guess. Feeling super nervous! Glad that you all are managing so well and really glad that there are others on the same journey. 🙂

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/02/2025 20:53

@Earthgirl3971 Yay! Amazing loss.
@Beachlover22 and @minerva7 Yay for first jab! I'd absolutely jab friday as it gives you the weekend to have side effects wear off and leaves you with a regular friday jab day (I jab friday) but we have lots of different days here!
@afromom Yay for first jab! And great to have a supportive nurse. I saw a nurse practioner before I started who was very anti and almost put me off!!
@HappySonHappyMum ANother yay for first jab! Everyone has been different I think. Some people have side effects in the first couple of days. Some people dont want to eat, some think it hasn't "done anything" but have lost a bit and some need to go up a dose for it to have an effect.

@JBJ I am so not medical but maybe its regulating "things" and your body wants to eat more often? Maybe have some healthy snacks so you're not hungry/eating crap? Hope it settles however you do it :)

@TaliaTalia wahoo for next pen!
@kittykarate Oh no sorry you are finding it difficult. And skiing as well :( I wish I had some suggestion but no idea- i hope its not ruined completely?

@ThinBy50 Yay great to be confirmed!

I am absolutely exhausted and a bit nervous my second 5 jab tomorrow will increase the nausea. I have also had a bit of D but not so bad its uncontrollable. Just aware things are um moving.

We are away next week at a Premier Inn for one of the kids activities. I really hope I'm not seduced too much by the breakfast. Also I've been fairly UPF free since xmas and we haven't planned snacks and food yet - the family are fond of a tesco meal deal but we will see. I'm back for Friday though so dont need to take the jab with me.

I am not visibly different and realise I wont be for a while BUT I have started to let my self imagine being different. Its so exciting, and so different from past diets, even with all the side effects its going to be so worth it. I keep getting in the car to drive and imagining my "lap" not being there so prominently and my stomach not hitting the wheel... Its so nice to daydream and to have HOPE :)

Thanks @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden! Can't believe we've been at this 4-5 weeks already. It's going to fly by I reckon.

@Bigknickers56 that's a fantastic point, thank you for the tip as it wouldn't have occured to me at all. I'll stick to water and graze on the food I know I'm good with. Fingers crossed!

FollyDear · 14/02/2025 01:24

Hello again everyone. It's W3D6 and I feel as though I'm eating like a horse 😂 I think I'm very ready to move up a dose. 5mg pen arrived yesterday so I'll be counting down the days next week. Although saying that, I'm also a bit scared I'll be floored by the side effects. I also anticipate I won't have lost any weight this week, the midweek weigh in did not look good 🫠 it's been great to hear from those of you who are a few weeks ahead. Hope those with side effects are starting to get some relief 🙏🏼

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 07:11

@Shmallow Good luck with the trip today 😊. Hope you have a fab time.
@FollyDear I quite liked the feeling of having the next pen all ready!

My Wk6 D1 check in and I've "lost" 2kg but that's because last week I was v bloated with a horrible period. It's so true in my case that I fill up with water weight on a period and then it all goes. Certainly not complaining this week though. I'm a pound off losing a stone so my first stone is in sight 😁.

I am v nauseaus this morning and a bit nervous of my second jab - I do it after work thankfully.

I do wonder if my side effects are a bit worse as life's been a bit stressful at home but although I'm finding it hard I'm still working it's not completely debilitating. But it is hard. I hope this dose keeps working so I can stay on it so my body doesn't have to go through this next time! I know lots of people don't get these side effects or are more mild so don't want to put anyone off.

Overall it's so worth it. My health was at risk with v morbid obesity and to see the weight come down (albeit slower than some others it's so definitely working!) still feels like a miracle.

Friday weigh in done, this is W3D1 for me.

2.3kg gone this week, 3.1kg gone in my first two weeks which is 6.8 pounds.

5.3kg since my signing in for the programme weight. Was 79kg, now 73.7kg.

Will shoot tonight, onwards and downwards!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/02/2025 07:46

@SnowieBear fantastic!
