A night without endless trips to the loo and the dizziness and floaty feeling seems to have largely gone. I have to say going up to 5mg has been really tough and I've felt quite unwell.

I have had a little weigh in this morning - I felt some hopefully good news might help!

I've lost 21lbs, just short of 10kg in 4 weeks 4 days 😱

Hi everybody. I was wondering whether anyone is contemplating adding exercise to the weight loss goals? I have to confess that I am a couch potato type and rarely do much exercise. I don't mind walking but hate getting out in the cold or rain. So I am thinking about getting a walking pad to use while watching TV. Just wondering if anyone else has one and do you like it? Thanks 😊

I'm exercising as I go because I'm worried about loose skin (these thighs have been bigger than I'd like forever!). I do uphill walking on a treadmill at a pace that makes me sweat a bit and some weights.

Amazing! Well done on your loss!

I hope your rubbish nights are now done and dusted and you can carry on with your super successful journey. 21lbs!

JBJ · 11/02/2025 10:03

Took second injection late last night as I've been away this weekend. Headache again within half an hour of taking it, but it's eased overnight thankfully.

Official weight loss in first week is 6lb, but I would normally weigh myself in the morning, and I'd eaten yesterday before I got chance. Been on the scales this morning and it's showing 10lb 😱

Proud of myself though, as been away with a friend who doesn't know I'm doing this, food suppression had almost vanished and I still managed to stay on track and not overeat. Logged everything on nutracheck and made sensible, low calorie choices when we ate out.

I'm counting myself very lucky that, apart from more headaches than normal and a bit of lightheadedness, I've not had any of the nastier side effects, and I can feel the food suppression has kicked back in again today.

Bear2014 · 11/02/2025 11:17

Well done on all the amazing losses! I only managed 0.3kg this week. Think I'm feeling far too good on it and need to increase dosage.

Lostatsea10 · 11/02/2025 13:06

Suppression has well and truly worn off and the snack monster is hammering the door down! Though its only W1 D5 and so not built in my system at all. Doing my best to ignore but kt won’t be so easy today and tomorrow. The next jab Thursday feels a long way away.

This week has been a test of will power, no suppression! I feel your pain!

Lostatsea10 · 11/02/2025 17:30

Can you jab at a different time to your check in call but the same day? I want to do my check in Thursday morning but DS has a very important hospital appointment in the afternoon and I don’t want to jab beforehand because it made me feel quite ill soon after this week. I need to be fully with it for the appointment, so wanted to jab after.

Only on the phone last week for my call the call handler stressed multiple times how important it was to do the jab straight away.

I don’t want to leave check in until after, as I haven’t told anyone I’m doing it and will have an empty house in the morning vs all and sundry wandering round in the afternoon!

I do, I weigh in on a Friday morning and I don't jab until Friday evening.

afromom · 11/02/2025 17:40

I am so pleased I have found this group, I hope it's ok for me to join? I received my first pen today and plan on taking my first dose on Thursday morning, as I have some work trips booked Tuesday/Wednesday over the next few weeks and don't want to have to take the pen with me!

Do most people take the dose morning or evening and is there a difference with any side effects as a result? I must say I was both impressed and a little taken back by the extra boxes of side effects treatments that I received with the box for acid reflux, diahorrea, constipation and windeze!

In terms of side effects, has anyone here experienced heart palpitations? I have a heart arrhythmia and they mentioned it whilst going through my health checks to make sure I was ok to proceed with that as an issue. I take beta blockers which control it well, but I'm nervous it might set me back with that.

Thanks for the group, it's great to have somewhere to share the journey and support each other.

Lostatsea10 · 11/02/2025 17:41

Thanks @ForPeachSake ill do that on Thursday!

I'm a bit naughty. I jab just before bed on a Thursday as I'm then not back at work till Monday, and then check in as soon as I get up on Friday morning as I like to weigh before eating or drinking and it's the only time I'm alone.

I figure as long as it's the same the whole way through it shouldn't affect the data.

BruhWhy · 11/02/2025 18:14

I've had what I think we call a NSV, a non-scale victory?

I can drive in my coat 😊 it's so much looser now that I don't feel constricted when trying to turn the steering wheel. I wasn't freezing my tits off on the school run earlier for a change, woo!

Also, my belly is now almost submerged under my bathwater as I type this. No more cold bath belly.

In other news my period, which alwaya suppresses my appetite, has made my suppression almost 100% and I'm having to force food in my face and its incredibly unpleasant.

JBJ · 11/02/2025 18:55

Well, I did a post earlier saying I was getting hungry at mealtimes etc... apparently not today! Had a slice of toast with scrambled eggs and mushrooms this morning, a banana at lunchtime, then made hunters chicken and roasted peppers for dinner. Only put myself out a small portion, as I wasn't feeling hungry, but I just couldn't manage more than a couple of mouthfuls. Very low on calories and protein for the day, so hoping I can manage a protein yoghurt in a bit.

Seem to have way more energy though - I've built a load of flat pack furniture this afternoon that's been sitting in the conservatory for weeks as I just couldn't face it (I'm disabled so it takes me a while!). Expected to have worked up an appetite from doing that, but no!

I weigh naked on a Thursday morning for my most accurate weight . Then on Thursday mornings after the school run, I get into my light clothes ( I always wear the same ones) and jump on the scales and make the call. It was a live chat last time rather than a video call.

I had been having a fantastic breakfast and making sure I dealt with any niggles before taking my next shot. So I've eaten well had enough to drink and feeling good by the time I contemplate doing it. I've been doing it around 1pm in the afternoon but not sure if I may start doing it before I go to bed that way I can sleep off any side effects. Id love to have a good sleep as I'm generally quite weird from it the first day ,second day is cold symptoms and sore neck. 🫣

I've been eating tiny portions of sensible food. I'm in a calorie deficit of 750 a day. I haven't had any bum or tum side effects.

TaliaTalia · 11/02/2025 19:36

W2D5. This time last week the suppression had gone and I was relying on will power. That hasn’t happened at all this week. If I could keep feeling like this I’d stay on 2.5mg forever. All the benefits and the most minimal of side effects.

This has been life changing for me, my entire life the only relationship with calories I’ve had is trying to cut down what I eat so I don’t go over (and usually failing). Now I’m trying to work out how I can physically fit enough calories in because eating is so boring and unappealing. Went out and bought a load of ready made protein shakes and yoghurts so I have something to grab when I can’t figure out what I want.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/02/2025 22:50

@Monmonss sorry you're suffering too.

How is everyone? I've been exhausted today but I'm quite stressed at work and didn't sleep well and I am starting to wonder if I'm not eating enough (!!!!). 5mg is actually doing it for me. I've not been nauseas today just... Not fussed. Took a banana some crackers and cheese in the car between appointments, ate the banana and a couple of crackers and just left the rest. Tonight I had some prunes and yoghurt after dinner to try and get protein in and encourage bowels... And just had a few bites. I'm adhd and always always finished once I started. Always...

@Lostatsea10 glad it's working for you too 😊.

@bertieallsort I'm not sure. I've just tried to take it as soon as possible after work Friday to give me as long as possible to have effects if nec before work. Everyone's got their own thing. And lots don't have side effects.

Well done those of you exercising!

@OneAzureMaker sorry you've been so ill... But also wow that's an incredible loss!! Hope it's calming down now.

@afromom welcome 😊

@BruhWhy Wahooooo!!! One of my goals is to drive without my stomach hitting the wheel and the day I stop being worried that seat belts will do up in cars...

@TaliaTalia its incredible isn't it. I keep wondering if this is how it's been for everyone else all my life. I could so live like this!! (I'd like the nausea and fatigue to settle but food wise it's amazing!!)

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I've come down with a cold so feeling a bit sad, I've taken my 2nd 5mg today, it had started to wear of by day 6/7 and I had a hot cross bun last night, but just one bit the whole packet!
I've been really enjoying eating what I want knowing that I can't eat too much, I've always been a member of the clean plate club.
My scales weren't playing ball but it looks like another 3lbs down this week, again this is ridiculous, usually I'm half a pound, a pound at best when totally starving myself!
I've been eating slimming world hifi bars for fibre but tempted to get some psyllium husk capsules as it's definitely slowed down in that department...

bluesmartie83 · 12/02/2025 07:45

Well that's W4 started - last dose of 2.5 this morning. Planning to take the 5 dose in the evening next week just in case I have any effects from it. I have lost 13lbs on 2.5 which I am incredibly happy with. I am finding that I am having to actively use will power towards D4 and over to keep myself on track so hoping that 5 will help ease this because my will power only lasts so long before I give in and eat the fridge!!

I have made some lifestyle changes - reduced my coffee intake and replaced with peppermint tea which I am surprised has been easier than I expected. I don't snack in between meals but I am definitely ready for my meals when the time comes.

I am peri menopausal and on HRT (early at 41) and have found that I have not had any period since I started MJ and no signs of one. Usually I may either get the symptoms but no actual period or a light period - but nothing!! I'm taking this as a win.

I have a fairly stressful job and I am actually finding myself taking every situation in my stride and not feeling overwhelmed. My life just feels calmer. I'm not sure that because the food noise has reduced so I'm not always hangry and irritated or this MJ is working wonders on various aspects of my life?

I hope everyone has an amazing hump day 😂

Lostatsea10 · 12/02/2025 09:59

So yesterday, I caved and had about 15 Haribo and a caramel egg. However, previously I’d have eaten the whole box of 3 caramel eggs and the whole ‘sharing’ bag of Haribo, so it is an improvement.

MJ is working wonders on various aspects of my life too. It's acting as a pain reliever on my uterine conditions, and I don't experience daily back pain anymore. It's amazing isn't it. I have a cold at the moment so not feeling great in that way. Sounds great for you too! What a relief!

I'm looking forward to my last 2.5mg tomorrow. I'm not ready for my meals I'm massively undereating. I love the idea of protein bars and other things so I'll make sure I get some of those things in the shopping tomorrow.
We have a full fruit bowl that I'm getting through but struggling to fancy anything to eat. It's odd. I definitely need to think about how I can do better.
I'm thinking omelettes. Yum.

bluesmartie83 · 12/02/2025 10:42

@Earthgirl3971 I must admit I probably don't eat enough protein and I'm getting fuller quicker so when meal time comes around I am hungry - maybe need to review my food choices. I like a nice omelette however mine always end up looking like scrambled egg!

tinyemmy · 12/02/2025 11:16

Is anyone else on the progesterone only pill and HRT - oestrogen gel and progesterone pill?
I've pretty much not had any periods for years whilst in the pill, the occasional spotting but I've had a lot of spotting since I started mj, it definitely stopped when I was on 2.5mg but now I'm on 5mg (second dose today) every time I use the bathroom there is blood. I'm sure it's normal because my body isn't absorbing the progesterone properly but it's just a bit strange and I wonder if I need to up a dose or something. Plus I think I forgot to take my pill (and thyroxine) one day last week somehow!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 12/02/2025 11:49

@tinyemmy sorry to hear you're unwell. Never fun is it. But we'll done with the weight loss. 3lb is fab. I'm still averaging 2 I think. Will you stay at 5 if you keep losing 3lb or go up do you think?

I'm not on the pill or hrt but it's definitely affected my periods. Maybe message shemed under other symptoms.

@bluesmartie83 13 in 3 weeks is incredible. You must be so pleased!

Well done everyone. If we think back to those weeks of wondering whether to do this or not and now here we are 😊.

I think linger term I'm keen to prioritise protein and to do some sort of strength work but I'm so exhausted generally with life at the moment it may not be yet.

I'm ecstatic at 3lbs although second week in I don't feel like I during the first week of 5mg although that's probably a good thing. I think I will decide after the third jab as it would be good to go up slower to allow for room to go up if you know what I mean.
I don't feel full but I'm also not trying to tear the cupboard down so if I feel like this through the week I will stay, if it wears off mid week like the 2.5 then I will go up
