Fantastic we made it to thread 2!

This is a thread for all those who have started or are about to start the Shemed programme in January.

Those waiting for blood tests /first pens hope you hear soon!
Those on their first/second jab hope it's going well - do come and tell us how it's going.

This is designed as a supportive space to share with each other how it's going, worries, side effects as well celebrating wins and results :)

I can so relate @YouWillFindMeUnderCats I just want to be at that stage now!

@Beachlover22 Welcome! Great you're joining us. No you are not alone, there's others without full reports and they didn't process my results at all and still let me join. They are sending me a second test in Feb sometime to make up for it so I am still a bit nervous if the bloods are a bit off but looking on the shemed facebook group they seem to be quite broad in what they accept - it is really just if it would be dangerous for you to take it I think. I quite like that they do this.

Hopefully our stats that aren't "normal" will be lowered through losing weight!

Thank you so much! You have put my mind at ease. I've been really enjoying reading all of the groups progress updates. Thank you for having me 😀

I am so sorry that there are some of the thread who are suffering with side effects and personal situations. Sending you all positive thoughts and wishes 💖.

I have myself been struggling to maintain my will power! Very little in the way of suppression in W3 so I am digging deep. I am a daily weigher - every morning. It keeps me on track and I am seeing the scales slowly going down.

For those who are waiting for their second pen. My timeline was - Questionnaire filled out on Wed, money taken on Fri, and pen received Sun (via DPD).

Wishing I could move up on Wed but I have one more week at 2.5mg before I can crack into the next dose. I may regret this though reading some people's experiences.

Here's hoping for a fab week ahead.

Primotomb · 10/02/2025 07:59

It sounds like they're catching up on the 2nd pen questionnaire backlog they seemed to have last week. Questionnaire done Thursday, payment taken and prescription issued Saturday. Due to be delivered by DPD today.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/02/2025 08:16

Yay for second pens and great they're on top of it. I guess part of all this is getting things working smoothly their end for when they charge people the higher rate.

I am so nauseaus this morning. I've made myself eat marmite toast. Not sure if that's a good idea but I used to eat it when I was sick and just do not want to do today 😬.

OneAzureMaker · 10/02/2025 08:35

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I'm sorry you're feeling sick, nausea is the worst. I have to say I've managed to escape that, but I've been up 3 times in the night with diarrhoea, despite regularly taking imodium.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/02/2025 08:46

Eeek that does also not sound good. Especially if the imodium isn't helping 😬. I hope it calms down today. Do you need to be in work/outside the house. You must be exhausted

Today is my day off, so that is a relief. I was told I looked very pale at work all day yesterday!

They would be 😆 i did my questionnaire Friday hoping delivery would be late this week.
Payment was taken yesterday and had the first email from pharmacy to say they've issued prescription and it's due to be delivered tomorrow.
I haven't told anyone I'm taking it, and tomorrow's the only day of the week hubby will be home - hoping it comes while he's at a hospital appointment! Or like when my first pen was sent that it's a day later than the expected delivery.

So far this is the only thing I am not liking about shemed - i can't chose when it's coming or even have much notice its coming

Fingers crossed!! I agree it would be really helpful if there was a way we could manage the delivery. I'm happy mine will now arrive before I go away on Friday, but was panicking last week when it looked like there might have been a delay.

Number 4 at 2.5mg tomorrow. 5mg pen in the fridge ready for next week but sooooo hungry at the moment. This week is going to be a long one

Bear2014 · 10/02/2025 14:11

Second pen showed up this morning, having filled in questionnaire last Tuesday. Will be interesting to go up to 5mg as suppression is still really decent on 2.5 and I've also felt great on it.

They really need to iron out some of their admin. I got an email shouting at me to add my GP details or they would not be able to continue my programme. They have had the details for ages, they sent my blood work to my GP directly weeks ago, and when I opened the app the details were all there visible. Really odd!

They've contacted my GP about a medical summary for me, though they haven't asked for that directly. I am however giving the GP a copy of my prescription to add to my records (if they will) they are a bit arsy about dealing with private companies/ externals they call them..weird!

I think mines arriving today or tomorrow. I've heard it's a smaller box this time due to no care package.

Hi everyone. Well done on great result and sticking with the plan. I took my 5ml dose Saturday morning and was okay until last night. It was just the usual suppression and not feeling hungry but I was much less bloated than when I was on 2.5. However, last night the nightmare started with sulphur burps and very bad cramps. I spent most of the night on the toilet and today still feel nauseous. Just had a little bit of coffee and feel like I'm going to be sick. Hoping to feel better tomorrow. Didn't eat much yesterday, nothing heavy, greasy not much carbs but something didn't work for me. I guess next weekend before and after the injection I'll be way more cautious with food. Good luck everyone! 😁

I've just had my last 2.5mg dose today and will start on 5mg next week. Your post scares me! I'm already worried to move up and would have happily stayed on the 2.5mg if I could have. 😳

Lostatsea10 · 10/02/2025 16:59

W1 D5 here and over the side effects thankfully though felt rough all weekend. Food. Lose has definitely reduced and I’ve just realised there are two bags of sweets I bought last week, then took the first dose and haven’t touched yet. They’d be long gone by not normally!

Well done everyone so far, hope the side effects settle soon for those of you experiencing them.

bertieallsort · 10/02/2025 18:00

Finally received my first pen today! Been working out the best day to take it & I think I’ll have to wait til the beginning of next week due to having plans for the next few days so I can’t risk side effects. Due to my general routines it’s going to be easier to take it on a Monday night/Tuesday morning so this week is going to drag til I can take it!
What have people found easier re side effects etc, taking it morning or night time?

You might be okay. I've read lots of stories where people have none or very little side effects on 5mg and higher doses. Fingers crossed it goes well for you. 😊

Bigknickers56 · 10/02/2025 18:44

Hi everybody. I was wondering whether anyone is contemplating adding exercise to the weight loss goals? I have to confess that I am a couch potato type and rarely do much exercise. I don't mind walking but hate getting out in the cold or rain. So I am thinking about getting a walking pad to use while watching TV. Just wondering if anyone else has one and do you like it? Thanks 😊

Delivery is tomorrow for pen 2. Does it come in the big pink box again? Or is it a little more discreet?

It comes in the big pink box again with just the pen in the insulation envelope and the small box of needles.

SnowieBear · 10/02/2025 19:02

@Bigknickers56 I cannot do aerobic exercise, so I landed on Pilates a year and a half ago. I have recently increased my classes to two a week and try to make other positive choices to increase my activity like taking the stairs instead of the lift and making sure I don't sit at the computer for too long.

The Pilates classes, even when doing just a class a week, have been really helpful. My lower back is not hurting all the time and surprisingly in menopause, I have managed to increase my muscle mass 😱

Whatever you choose to do, it has to be something sustainable and that you get a degree of enjoyment from. For me, the classes can be tough but some of the ladies attending are nuttier than squirrel poo and it all feels better with lots of giggles (and the occasional fart!).

Bugger! Thanks for letting me know :)
Now to try and intercept the postie before hubby gets to him first 😆 not helped by the fact he's also waiting for a parcel lol
