A little 5mg from 2,5mg update

side effects are quite unpleasant today, I jabbed yesterday afternoon.
this morning I was freezing, proper shivering
Then burps kicked in

After eating a light late lunch tummy pain and horrendous nauseous

im hoping this is short lived as I really feel vile and struggling with the 5 kids

sorry it’s not a positive post but sharing as 2.5mg only really caused me constipation

Now feeling like diarrhoea is on it’s way

oh my

in need of a hug but haven’t told DH or the kiddies
thanks for listening gang 🌸

Sending you that hug, Mumof5cubs x

I really hope it settles into something manageable for you, it must be incredibly hard.

Does anyone have any particular problems with sleeping? I am finding that I am waking during the night and struggle to get back off to sleep. Worse if I have to go to the loo or have a drink. I'm only 2 weeks in so hopefully this will settle down.

Sleeping very well, but yes, have to get up once in the night for a wee, which is annoying but a minor niggle. I do feel I could do with more shut eye though, even when I manage to grab an early night.

When they said "prioritise sleep" they really meant it! I know lack of sleep, either in quantity or quality, has major impacts on your physical, mental and emotional health. Weight gain is just the tip of the iceberg, I would really encourage anyone affected with poor quality sleep to look up some resources and try to introduce some basic changes to their sleep hygiene, it will definitely pay off.

Quick one you can do right now: go to your phone settings and activate your blue light filter, a little help to your circadian rhythm 😉

Still waiting to hear about my new prescription for 5mg. Filled in questionnaire Monday. Anyone else?

Yes! Glad I'm not the only one. I am managing to drift back off after 10 mins or so but randomly waking each night.

TW : tummy trouble

thanks hun

I thought I’d try and sleep it off.
couldnt doze off will the littlest ones this evening as nausea had increased

cut to vomiting entire lunch in bathroom and then diarrhoea 😳
feel better as I’m empty but slightly worried I’ve only managed a handful of prunes and almonds today alongside my coffee this morning

sorry if this is over sharing

has anyone experienced sudden ramped up side effects when increasing dosage ?

🤢

Tomorrow will be jab 3 of 2.5
While infound the first week easy to ignore food it's getting progressively harder to turn down a chocolate and caramel brownie from coop on the school run.
I've jumped on the scales and not really showing any further loss, I've tracked everything and under on calories but I am not sleeping well this past week. Waking at midnight for no particular reason then 4 because my pooch has decided he needs to check the garden. My water intake has been very hit and miss aswell

I also suffer with hidradenitis supportiva and after having manageable flare ups on and off I'm currently battling several abcesses - not sure if the meds are contributing or just the fact I'm tired, stressed and just need a break from life. If once I'm feeling more myself it doesn't improve I may have to rethink the mounjaro. Although have just reminded myself my dad (diabetic) was prescribed a one a week insulin that gave him horrendous burps so will have to ask him if it was this as he also suffers with HS and I think he flared up bad needing hospital treatment in the beginning

Apologies for the whingey post. I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Nothing a decent night's kip won't sort

Hope you're all seeing the scales go down and the side effects are minimal

Sorry to hear about your HS flare up @Mieliwood. My dd has had this since her mid teens and is now 25 (also has pcos). She has been on mounjaro for about 4 months now and says that the flare ups have definitely improved as she has lost weight...about 3 stones to date. Hopefully you'll find more improvements when you have had longer to get the weight loss benefits. Fingers crossed 🤞

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/02/2025 23:04

Hi @Mieliwood, I’m not with Shemed but I have been following this thread, I saw your comment and just wanted to say that I also have (or had) HS. It started with my first pregnancy aged 20 (I’m 57 now), I have awful scarring from the tracts, it was mainly armpits and boobs. But I read a lot about HS on American forums and someone suggested Hibiscrub. I’ve been showering with hibiscrub for about 5 years now and can count on one hand the amount of flare ups I’ve had, it really has been amazing for me. I once swapped to an alternative and they came back, so for me this really works. I can’t use anything else now. Just hoping that this could help you ☺️

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/02/2025 05:05

Morning!

Hope evryone is okay. Great to read the posts and welcome to new people 😊. And we'll done for scraping in before they put the prices up! Hope first jabs go okay and you don't have too bad side effects. I felt quite unwell for a bit with the first one but it did pass for me.

Re side effects - someone asked if they do respond and if you report side effects they will ring you if they are concerned or sned a general email and ask you to contact them if you want them to ring. Much of shemeds customer service is slow but that side of things seems to be working in my experience!

@SeaStoat mine actively won't engage and sent me a text to say so. I think the GPS are pushing back on extra work the prescribing service should be doing. Similar with adhd meds in our area. So I had the same thought!

Yay for a fab loss and hope 5mg jab is okay. I'm jabbing Friday and half expecting to react a bit Saturday so don't have to be anywhere!

Oh @Mumof5cubs just seen your post and sorry its been horrible. And got worse 😔. Have you contacted shemed for advice? I hope today is better for you. I think I'll be in the same boat this weekend. I'm trying to tell myself it's the biggest leap (as in doubling the dose) and will be worth it but you do sound really ill. Hope you got some sleep x

@Mieliwood sorry you're suffering too 😔. I hope it adjusts soon for you.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I had my first period straight after my first jab and it was a couple of days longer, heavier and "clottier" than usual (actual might explain some of my side effects). I do wonder if there is a link. I wonder if it will happen to our next one too or if it's just the first one. It's bizarre they're nto collecting this data if they're interested in a woman's perspective. I still suspect it's a marketing ploy and they're just after data to show they work.... But I'm still very grateful for the reduced rate!

It does sound like they're really busy at the moment I hope it calms down a bit and they are more contactable/responsive in general.

I hope those with side effects improve and that everyone else is going okay with it all.

I risked fish and chips last night as the kids wanted it (forgot I'd need to take out a small mortgage to do so! So not a cheap meal anymore!!) and had a piece of battered fish. I only took a small handful of chips, added some veg and actually was satisfied. I really enjoyed the fish. I do think even if I was "full" in the past I'd have impulsively kept going till all the chips were gone... It really does do magic other than just making you feel full doesn't it.

I was diagnosed with adhd this week (not a surprise but a while waiting) and I do think my impulsivity around food is a factor in why I'm so big!

Oh and yes to sleep being disturbed. I hope that settles. I heard elsewhere of people sleeping better and I thought I want that! I was already battle perimenipausal night wakening and thought I'd sussed it (magnesium, early nights etc) but here I am awake from 4am...)

That is great to hear!
I am not giving up, I've been stuck with crap skin for the last 20 years (only diagnosed in the last 6) so ill persevere through it.

@Iwouldratherbesinging I've used hibiscrub exclusively for 5 years and generally it doesn't stop them appearing but it does stop them getting so inflamed. I've also read that using head and shoulders to wash with works but I think that might only be the US formula

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I think I'm probably just over tired and stressed out and it has very little to do with the meds.

Its third jab day, so questionnaire and new pen will be sent.

How long has it generally taken for the new pen to be received? Is it submitting the questionnaire that triggers the new pen or just the check in?

RachCmomma · 06/02/2025 08:09

Hi,

Not sure if it is 100% the jab but this week I feel I could have slept every day. I'm so tired. Have been sleeping laods but not helping. Just got 0 energy.

I'm also waking in the night to take rene tablets for heartburn so that won't be helping.

Feel like I'm struggling to eat enough too, like I don't want anything and everything seems to repeat on me. And yet at times I really want to eat- like mentally and then I just can't.... it's very strange.

Anyone else feeling like this?

Rachel xx

meatyryvita · 06/02/2025 09:03

Just had my week 1 check in and I've lost 7lbs!! I was hoping for 4lbs but this was quite beyond expectations. I lost just under 3lbs between the blood test and 1st jab, so 10lbs overall - I'm absolutely thrilled!

SW: 15st 10lbs
CW: 15st
GW: 9st 10lbs

Mieliwood · 06/02/2025 09:05

Weigh in done - w3d1 down 11lbs since ordering the pen and 1.6lb this week
Usually by now, after my midweek quick check and the numbers going up I'd have given in and eaten everything in sight.
Diet hasn't been the best and that's probably contributing to me feeling crap. Today's plan is some me time this morning to just chill out and a long soak then meal plan for next week.

With that in mind- throw me your favourite meals - I'm stuck in a rut of the same things week in week out and I'm bored lol

Iwouldratherbesinging · 06/02/2025 09:19

@Mieliwood oh I’m sorry… I must be one of the lucky ones, I do feel for you, it’s awful 😞

DIYMum · 06/02/2025 10:06

@Mieliwood I’m pretty sure it’s the questionnaire that triggers the next prescription rather than the check in.
Good to catch up with everyone’s updates. Those of you suffering with side effects I hope they’re short-lived.
Just taken my first 5mg dose and feel like I’m strapping myself in for a bumpy ride 😬 I had awful side effects 3 days in from initial 2.5mg dose so not looking forwards to this week.
On the plus side my appetite suppression had practically gone by the last week, the munchies were back and I could easily clear my plate at mealtimes again. So hopefully I’m ready for the increased dose. 🤞

Shmallow · 06/02/2025 10:07

Sorry to hear about some of the nasty side effects people are having, it doesn't sound fun. My only one is basically losing all joy in food, which is a bit weird at the moment. I'm finding it a chore to think of anything I want to eat now.

I did my last jab of 2.5 this morning. My weight fluctuates a lot during the week so it has been lower but on official check ins I'm 5.5kg down in three weeks. It's a good loss but I won't start to feel like I'm doing well until I've lost about 15kg, as that is my previous lower weight that I maintained for quite a while. Once I'm going down beyond that, I'll feel better.

BruhWhy · 06/02/2025 10:09

W3 D1, 4lbs loss this week. 10lbs in total from initial weigh-in. Haven't been eating enough because I've caught the dreaded lurgy from the kids, but going to try to up my calories so I'm not losing over 3lbs a week, I wanna take it low and slow over the next 11 months.

Due my period next week, so it will be interesting to see how the medication affects it.

Bear2014 · 06/02/2025 10:09

I did my 3rd jab and filled in the questionnaire early doors on Tuesday and it's said my prescription is under review ever since. Should be hearing back today really about the refill but I guess it's not urgent yet.

bluesmartie83 · 06/02/2025 10:09

@Mieliwood I completed my week 3 questionnaire early (5.30am) yesterday and haven't heard back yet. I'm away this weekend so it needs to be either for delivery tomorrow or Monday otherwise I'll have to ask a friend to pick up my parcel and pop in the fridge. I hope your side effects reduce as you move through the study!

I'm feeling less suppression this week and I am having to dig in and find the little will power I have. The food noise is definitely not as loud but I am getting a few times when I'm starting to think about my next meal! Hoping the next dose helps with this.

I am still sticking to and maintaining my three meals a day with no snacks but I am away for a few nights this weekend by the sea! Plenty of walking so at-least I will get my steps in.

Still waiting to hear about my new prescription for 5mg. Filled in questionnaire Monday. Anyone else?

I filled mine in on Sunday and still waiting to hear back, hopefully won't be too much longer now!

Lostatsea10 · 06/02/2025 13:47

I’ve just done my first jab! Fingers crossed!

sorry to hear of some of your side effects, I hope you feel well soon.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/02/2025 14:36

Yay everyone for all the weightless. 🎉🎉.

@Lostatsea10 yay for first jab!!

@Mieliwood
my 2nd pen came the day after I did the questionnaire but it was last week and I think I've heard it's taking longer now. I think it's good it's triggered after the questionnaire as that gives a 2 week window it can arrive in

Yay to @Mieliwood and to @ForPeachSake @bluesmartie83 and @Bear2014 for getting to the "next pen ordering" stage. To me these are all milestones on our journey and we're in a different place to where we were when contemplating starting!

@RachCmomma yes! Is it your first jab I've lost track. I was absolutely exhausted to the extend I needed to lie down for the first 4 days ish of jab 1 and then just in general for the first few days after jab 2 and 3. I was okay jab 4 but fully expecting it to come back for my next dose.

@DIYMum fingers and toes crossed you're okay. I remember you had er dramatic side effects when you started. Has it been tricky after the other doses? I'm doing my first 5mg tomorrow and need to drive kids around Saturday....
