1000 replies

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 20/01/2025 10:00

Fantastic we made it to thread 2!

This is a thread for all those who have started or are about to start the Shemed programme in January.

Those waiting for blood tests /first pens hope you hear soon!
Those on their first/second jab hope it's going well - do come and tell us how it's going.

This is designed as a supportive space to share with each other how it's going, worries, side effects as well celebrating wins and results :)

I threw my box away too. Didn't seem to be too much of a problem yesterday, although I couldn't actually hear/understand what the person on the call was saying very well tbh.

Just had scrambled eggs and a slice of toast. Really struggled to eat it, and the dog got some of the leftover egg!

Doing an online shop, and planning meals based on calories/protein etc as opposed to getting what I fancy and it's a very alien feeling!

W3 D1 here, just did third injection. Another 1.5kg down. I've still had no real side effects but I think I'm going to gradually increase the dose next month, using slightly more each week by counting clicks. Don't want to rush it and push my luck.

Be careful with this as is against our t&cs unless agreed by SheMed. I read on Facebook someone got kicked off the programme for talking about dose altering- not quite sure how they found out mind you. And that was in regards to taking a 5th dose. 😅

Yeah just pondering at the moment but prob shouldn't say any more!

JadeB85 · 04/02/2025 13:10

Hi all! I’m hopefully starting this journey with you all this week 😊 I’ve got my blood test results, just waiting on them to be reviewed- can I ask roughly how long you were all waiting for your results to get approved? It’s only been 3 days but just curious (and keen to get started 🤣)x

Needtomust96 · 04/02/2025 14:49

Other than the original side effect package, does shemed provide any other support for side effects? It's unclear in the t&c. Just wondering if anyone has received anything?

kittykarate · 04/02/2025 16:09

I haven't received anything apart from the welcome package, but then again, I have not reported anything that they could probably fix (feeling cold, restless sleep).

SeaStoat · 04/02/2025 16:46

This is interesting. The General Pharmaceutical Council is concerned about online prescribing and is proposing that GPs be involved. I've seen senior GPs commenting on X that they do not have time (and are not paid to do this). Where would they find the time?

Hi all!

I am new here too. Been lurking for a while but have been waiting for the confirmation from SheMed before I got involved…

@JadeB85 me too! I am waiting for a clinician to review my results. It’s been 3 days since they received my blood test and I got the test results on Saturday. I am hoping that they will give me the go ahead soon so I can get started. All being well I am planning on doing the first jab on Friday evening so if I get any side effects I can deal with them at home over the weekend.

SeaStoat · 04/02/2025 17:00

Good to read everyone's posts. I'm down 3.8lbs this week so 9.8lbs down in 2 weeks. I track my losses via my own am daily weigh - not the dressed one recorded by SheMed.

I had my scales this week but not my jab box to hand so the polite woman in India had to wait.

I've just been to run some errands and had the wierd experience of coming out of Lidl with a couple of bags instead of a boot full. Partly, this because the fridge is full as I'm not eating as much. I'm not consciously doing this - just eating when hungry. The other reason is that I was disinterested in chocolate, biscuits and sesame seed bars. This is very strange and rather good.

I've taken shot 3 - so am hoping I'll get some pain relief and inflammation reduction by tomorrow. .I will be going with the plan and moving up to 5mg tomorrow. I'm eating when hungry. The pattern is usually two meals a day, breaking fast when I am hungry, and a third meal on days 6 & 7 when hungrier, no snacks, no will power needed. So all's well at Sea Stoat House.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 04/02/2025 22:45

Ugghhh. 1st period on MJ.
Not sure if pmt bloat or MJ but my period is more painful than normal.
Thankfully boobs not sore though as usually are.

Went to the gym as 'exercise helps' but now feel ughhhh.

Anyone else's periods affected?

Mazd323 · 04/02/2025 22:58

Those that have filled out the questionnaire to move onto their next pen, how long has it taken to arrive? Read on a few other pages that there's a bit of a delay at the moment possibly due to the influx of people joining at the end of January.

bluesmartie83 · 05/02/2025 06:55

Did my week 3 weigh in today and completed the questionnaire. I'm 10.5lbs down which I am absolutely over the moon about! I jabbed this morning - I've been really hungry for the last two days and have dug deep to prevent snacking in between meals. I do know though my will power is weak so though I would get the next dose sooner than this evening. Hoping to remain with very mild side effects as I have a 10 hour day today in the office. I have felt much more positive towards myself and have taken more pride in how I look which I have neglected in previous years. I am feeling a huge shift in mindset. I am determined to take this opportunity to learn and adapt to a new approach to food and lifestyle to make long term changes that I can continue where I no longer need to take Mounjaro. I hope everyone has a fab day today 😊

Great to hear @bluesmartie83!
I too have noticed a change in mindset and taking more pride in myself. Bought myself new trainers, face creams and some make up.
I also promised myself to be more selfish, I always put my family's needs ahead of mine but have followed through and prioritised myself too.
For example, even though it makes life a bit more tricky at bed times for kids, I am going to the gym 3 times a week because I feel I deserve to put my health as a priority for once.
This is a first since having kids that I have felt I can and should be a bit more selfish.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 05/02/2025 07:24

@Mazd323 yep I was wondering the same thing.
Questionnaire done Sunday and nothing updated in the app yet, it does say it takes 2days for clinicians to review prescription.
I'll let you know when I hear.

Earthgirl3971 · 05/02/2025 08:40

Mine was it was scanty but thick this time. They are always mega painful due to my uterine conditions. I'm prescribed mefanamic acid for the pain as it's just unbelievable. I did hope the pain relief from the MJ would really nail it but it didnt. Sadly.

Hmm this is interesting. I don't think they are collecting information on periods on the questionnaire.
I don't have PCO as far as I know but I do normally have heavy periods (usually painless) and some increasing facial peach fuzz which also looks worse. Not sure why this period would be so painful 😣 arghhh!

Bigknickers56 · 05/02/2025 11:56

Does anyone have any particular problems with sleeping? I am finding that I am waking during the night and struggle to get back off to sleep. Worse if I have to go to the loo or have a drink. I'm only 2 weeks in so hopefully this will settle down.

Yeah I feel like I'm not sleeping, instead I'm lying there awake but with my eyes closed. It's very strange and means I'm super tired! As I'm sure you are. Peppermint tea is helping with everything though. I really recommend it.

HappySonHappyMum · 05/02/2025 15:49

So my first pen is due to arrive tomorrow. When does everyone do their injections - morning or evening and which day of the week is best? So many options - what works best for everyone?

It depends entirely on your schedule, choose a day that reliably has chunks of free time in it. For me this is Thursday. Generally the worst side-effects happen 24-48 hours after jab day so bear this in mind - if you're working heavy weekend shifts for example I'd choose a Monday. They do give you the option to change jab days though so if something changes you're not locked in 😊

Thanks for that - that really helps. I think I'll go for Monday then - I work from home so any side effects I can manage at home during the day.

@Reginaphalangeeeee any update on your new pen? I've not heard anything yet.

I’ve had an email from them to say that they haven’t forgotten about me and that they’re going as fast as they can. Had my bloods back Sunday so waiting 3 days now

Mumof5cubs · 05/02/2025 18:41

A little 5mg from 2,5mg update

side effects are quite unpleasant today, I jabbed yesterday afternoon.
this morning I was freezing, proper shivering
Then burps kicked in

After eating a light late lunch tummy pain and horrendous nauseous

im hoping this is short lived as I really feel vile and struggling with the 5 kids

sorry it’s not a positive post but sharing as 2.5mg only really caused me constipation

Now feeling like diarrhoea is on it’s way

oh my

in need of a hug but haven’t told DH or the kiddies
thanks for listening gang 🌸
